    And to those of us who have no reason to celebrate are constantly pelted with these snowballs. I personally have no reason to celebrate and have aasked constantly for people to stop in general and in says and people take it upon themselves to do it and then tell you that they are glad your life is miserable because it makes there less. So this means for the next three weeks I can not play if I don't want other people to ruin my in-game experience.

    I'm at 66 gear and I'm about to start running 55 FP.....is that the direction I should head to get to 1800? Rolling for 72 gear and collecting Elite Comms for 72 gear? But, do I start buying 72 Absorption gear from Elite vendor, apposed to more 72 Defense Rating gear?

    FAIR WARNING: Only you can decide how much time and how many resources to invest while chasing min/max ideals.

     

    If you want to min/max throughout the gear grind, be prepared for some goofy choices. I have seen people with 67 pvp armorings paired with 78 mods and crafted 66 enhancements all in the name of min/maxing (and set bonuses). I'm not advocating that, but you should definitely do some reading, ask more questions, and make a plan before spending too much.

     

    There are a bunch of things here to consider, but I'll try and toss out a few while answering your 2 questions...

     

    All three stats have DR curves. Defense provides much better value for the first several hundred points. Aside from augments, you are usually trading between Defense and Absorb; consequently, Shield is harder to adjust.

     

     

    I wouldn't worry too much about absolute optimization, yet... you are only halfway to a BIS budget right now. The associated costs can be painful if you aren't already an in-game tycoon.

     

    My recommendations...

    • Start with as many Advanced Redoubt Augment 28's as you can afford, then start with optimization
    • Don't assume that bigger numbers are always better. Avoid Endurance-heavy gear from commendations--use them to mix and match, and fill-in gaps for the pieces that never drop for you
    • Don't forget to consider the Veracity variations of the crafted implants and earpieces
    • Run level 55 HM flashpoints, 1 each day, 3 per week... with the bonus bosses if the group can handle it
    • Don't forget Classic Ops and 16-man SM ops to get those easy Ultimate commendations (and more gear drops)
    • Use Ask Mr. Robot to evaluate the consequences of adding/removing pieces

     

    Really great advice and thanks for taking the time to reply.

     

    However, I have to admit I'm still confused about WHEN you switch from Defense Rating and start focusing on Absorption Rating. All the guides explain this switch will happen but none of them state at what level you start.

     

    I now have 66 gear DR=707 SR=515 AR=65. When do I start shedding the DR and pile on the AR?

    (Defense rating) does however drop off, and is not needed past a certain point. Beyond that defense is only used in attacks against you that are classified as "Melee" or "Range.

    When does this start?

     

    What level gear do you start dropping Defense Rating and start piling on the Absorption Rating?

     

    I have 66 gear.

    Help on Shield Absorption stat

    Ok so according to this and this. My Absorption Rating should be at 0 for now. (55 VG)

     

    I'm currently omw to get the 66 gear from the Oricon storyline, but like most of my gear Ive gotten recently, the stats are only Shield Absorption. (Not Defensive Rating or even Shield Rating)

     

    So,

     

    1. Is zero Absorb really what I should have at this point? Why? (Yes, I read the math, but too dumb to understand :p )

    2. Am I supposed to swap mods in the Oricon gear to fit the stat priority formula?

     

    Thanks for any help.

    Loot Master: Allows a group leader to have complete control over loot distribution.

     

    Basically, the group leader assigns the loot to the members of the group, this is normally done in order to avoid dealing with ninja looting (Loot Ninja rolls need, or straight up takes, a piece of gear that they do not need or can even equip. The Loot Ninja does this for many reasons, none actually clear or intelligent.) but can sadly also be used by ninjas in order to grab all of the loot for themselves. It all comes down to the competence and helpfulness of your group leader =)

    Edit: I read your edit, I think that when you form a group using group finder, the automatic loot setting is not Master Looter, this is only something that the randomly selected group leader can change. If this happened I would politely ask why he would do such a thing and if he don't answer I would start a vote kick in order to get the ninja out of my group, or just leave.

    New to 50 flashpoints, so sorry if this is a "done to death" subject.

     

    Half way through a FP, I suddenly start getting a "Access denied. The master looter is deciding what....." and I am unable to loot anything or even roll on it.

     

    What is this?

    Edit: Ok. i found out the group leader changed the loot to Master Looter and was being a ....

     

    Sucks that I joined in "Group finder" and some random leader gets to change it. I think the loot should be auto set to the norm.

    FREE Character Transfers are Coming!

    As it stands from the current announcement...

     

    When the transfer options starts...

     

    You can either let BW pick what server your characters get transferred to

    or

    You can pay to chose what server you would like your characters to be transfer to.

     

    Not that complicated, even with the finer details to come.

     

    My issue is that new players, once the transfer option has started and severs begin to fill up, will get to chose their initial busy server and the rest of us loyal players who have been here since the beginning, will have to pay to chose ours....and I think that sucks!

     

    Should be all round free for a limited time!

    He's not saying new players get free transfers he's saying a new player can just pick the busy servers out the gate now while day 1 buyers will have to pay to transfer to them.

     

    Kinda crappy and he has a bit of a point. However I think it's needed, you can't have chaos of everyone just bouncing around. That's why they're going to make free servers that are really low.

     

    Glad someone read it right. lol

     

    However, to your point, you can pay to transfer of server of your choice, so the chaos is there regardless.

First we’ll have some targeted free transfers from/to specific servers, but that will be followed with a broader system where you can either take advantage of free promotional transfers to specific servers or paid transfers to the server of your choice. We know everyone has more questions about character transfer, and we’ll reveal more details closer to the launch date.

     

    Am I reading this right?

     

    New players to SWTOR will initially get to pick their choice of busy servers for free, but players who have been here since the beginning will have to pay to chose theirs? (EDIT: not saying new player transfers, but initial server choice)

     

    A year for now this is fine, but this game just came out 5 1/2 months ago and this is the first server transfer to help balance the game. It should be free all the way around for at least a limited time.

     

    I would have come back if it was for free. (free 30 day sub)

    Bioware just killed it for me.

     

    A blatant show of greed over loyalty. After the servers fill up, new players will get to chose a full server for their new characters, but players who prepaid for the game will have to pay to chose theirs.

     

    I would have come back if it was free. Shame.

    What do you mean "dying"? As in declining subscriptions? Less player hype? Less commercial hype? Visibly not a Massive Multiplayer Onine game atm?

     

    Then yes, the game is dying.

     

    Why?

     

    Too many servers + not enough players per server + no eta on server transfer = no one to play with = canceled subs.

     

    Not complicated.

     

    Other than that, the game would be great!

    Sub was up on the 19th. Canceled sub due to empty server, no one to play with and no ETA on server transfers from Bioware.

    Stopped by today to see if there is any news about server transfers and got the same answer from 5 months ago, which is *shrug*.

     

    Thing is, I'm now losing interest in being uninterested. Started playing other games and nearly forgot to come check in.

     

    How much longer are you going to keep checking in past your sub end date?
