  1. What would make me quit?

    - The lack of storydriven content. Let's be honest, this is mostly why we are playing SWTOR. Aside from that, there is nothing special about this as an MMORPG. And frankly there are other MMORPG's out there with a better MMO aproach in PVE and PVP. The only elements that are making SWTOR worth playing is first of all the strong storylines and second, the Star Wars brand.

     

    What would make me resub?

    - Storydriven content as another addon. Especially one with storyplots for each class and focused on the Star Wars docrines and not that mumbo-jumbo crap like the Fallen Empire and supercomputer planets.

  2. I'm rather disapointed in some outcomes, especially when it came to the agent storyline.

    So Cipher was indoctrinated and yada-yada by the imperials. Old news. He knew, he was redesigned to fit the needs of his missions. That indoctrination did not made me personally upset. That's the kind of thing Imperials would do to their personel. This means for at lerast 30-40 generations this is happening daily. This should not bother Cipher at all.

     

    What I didn't take well, was the fact, that the so called good guys not even tried to win Cipher over, but directly misused his imdoctrination. What positive motivation would a imperial superkiller operative have to change sides with people who have absolutely no interest in him. As as imperial at least he know he is just a pawn. - This fact does not mean, that he has to remain a pawn.

     

    Voss and Star Cabal tricks. Come on guys, it took me 30 seconds into the mission briefing to know what they are actually up to. But I thought, it has to have a deeper understanding. This is exactly why I disliked this particular planetary storyline. It is obvious and dull.

    Anyways, enough about the imperial agent.

     

    Another class storyplot I disliked, yet loved both specialised classes was the trooper. In very short, the best way to get passed the story is always the "Yes, Sir!"/"No, Sir!" answer. Everything else is so absolutely nontypical to a military surounding. The trooper is not a soldier per se, but only a loose gun of the republic.

     

    Aside from that, both subclasses do really give me the impression of playing a genuine (Clone)Tropper in Star Wars. They got the look, they got the skills. Man, when I unwrap one of my trooper alts, I have the impression there is quite litte I can not handle.

     

    Another thing I had a bit of a problem was the Sith Warrior. First of all, I think this is one of the most intense storyplots in the game. But the flaw is, you can only feel the entire impact and the connection to the Emperor during the Ziost incident. If you ask me, this planetary stroyplot peaks up the SW storyplot massively. Since this is actually not necessarily to be played the SW looses its momentum. Basically most of the players had never took the opportunity to understadnd the true motivation of the class, because there is acutally no need in playing through Ziost.

  3. Any time there is a conversation with a companion, at any level, an option to kill the companion should be available.

     

    BW, you should forget about Conquest issues that have arisen or any new content. Instead, go back to the vanilla game and any expansions since and make sure that each conversation option for any companion available includes a kill option.

     

    In fact, please add a new function to interrupt a companion and kill them. Waiting for a companion to finish a statement doesn't make any sense.

     

    DARTH SKULLFACE DOES NOT NEED COMPANIONS. DARTH SKULLFACE KILLS COMPANIONS.

    Kill the companions! Why? Because we live in a evil world full of evil people, and we play 6 of them. So, yes, I want that option "kill the active companion" at any dilaogue as well.

    the title is just a synoyme for the personal impression of "good class, but crappy classtory", or "crappy class but interesting story".

     

    This thread is about your personal experiences in the game with those two particular issues. Companion stories overall fit into the "good class, crappy story" as well.

     

    I got this idea whiel FINALLY getting the nerv to play the imperial agent. Dear lord! I thought I'd rather have picked out my eyes than playing this storyplot. It is awfull! Simply awfull! Until I've played the agent story I always thought the trooper was bad. But enough ranting. I just want to give a overall overview:

     

    Companions:

    Caliyo - dhat bich! I was the happiest man alive, at the point she was arrested before Corellia. And I was devastated, when she rejoined the crew. *** man!

    Vector - he's a strange one. His story is also weird. But in combination with Doc Loken, it is ok-ish.

    Skorpio - Yeah, right, like an Operative of the agents caliber is really going to revive her and add her as a crew member. Also he is really going to give her access to the entire imperial network. *** man!

     

    Storyplots:

    The Darth Jadus complot. ...yeah, how genious of him letting one of the imperial ciphers solve his plan. It's not like those guys are trained to be extreme professional. IMHO this decision was extremely dumb of Jadus.

     

    The doubleagent complot. Yeah, kinda makes you hate thourougly the Reps. By controlling Cipher 9 through his mindprogramming, it is very likely he is going to free himself and erase anything and anyone who leads to the fact, that he was programmed. So I did. Also, Jedi scum has to die!

     

    The star...whatsoever complot. I always thought Hunter is that haty guy. That ubercounteragent. The real nemessis... He is just a characterless dick. His motives did not polarised me in any kind.

    Strangest mission was on Voss, the glowing man... what's all about? You go in there, get to find out ho this guy is and ... you are done. Why the heck was he even there for real? Just to delay the alliance between Voss and one of the major parties? Realy? Just for that? This was the BIG plot? At some point I got the message, "return to your ship", wondered why do I got that message in the "middle of the mission", just to realise, that's it, this was the mission. :confused:

     

    Overall, the entire imperial agent story was awfull!

    However the Agent classes are quite interesting to play for me.

  5. Day 9001 of trying to play the Imperial Operative storyline. BOOOOOOORING!!!!!:(

    ...but there is even more unitneresting content in SWTOR for me. Like dailies on Iokath. Oh, joy!:p

     

    By now I've finally made up for Alderan, ...yay, a boring story on a boring planet filled with snobs I'd rather want to kill. Hach, where are you Moff Tarkin, when I need you the most, "You may fire when ready!":csw_deathstar:

  6. That's just the thing. She didn't survive. She died. Dead. As in door nail. As in all locomotion has ceased. No brain activity. Nada. Zilch.

     

    Valkorian "stole" her force essence when she died, so she was in your head for the final chapter of KoTET. So if you want to daydream about her and have fantasies about her, more power to you. But her body is just an inanimate (to borrow from HK-47) meatbag. She doesn't even have the luxury of being a meat puppet.

    She is the daughter of the most powerfull and notorius Sithlord, and also more powerfull than himself. Her ghost and power were snached by Valkorion when the Outlander stabed her. Did he really told you the truth about her, tthan he only stole her force? So how comes, that in the last chapter he revives her ghost? How can he do this, if she is realyl dead?

     

    Having those doubts, now asking, why she can't be resurected in some way? Cybernetics are pretty advanced, or she might ppick another body, like her Daddy did before. Possible is eversthing, if just thought properly.

     

    "Why not dating someone mentally healty"? Because those are boring!

  7. What is the planet in swtor that you hate the most.

    For me it is quesh that planet looks terrible(and I normally prefer nature) the opponents there feel harder than they should be and in one quest two enemies in this one boss fight revive immediately after you are defeated!

    If I had it my way I would take a death star and blow that planet up!

    Balmorra and Makeb. I find both extremly boring. Both planetar design also storylines. The only thing I like about them are the music tracks. Especially the balmorran one.

     

    Edith just reminded me that I also dislike Iokath for the same reasons other players do. And when it comes to the daily missions, IMHO those are the least fun of all. They are just pains in my arse. My mostly disliked missions are anyway running with some vechicle around. Or simply put, I hate the Walker missions.:mad:

  8. He is clearly into something big. I also belive that this "Order" want to discredit and take revenge on the Outlander amongst other things, like galactic domination stuff. And again Theron does his thing, fighting the good, but dirty fight against the evil ones. Sadly "we" have to play a role as his main villian to get there. Until the Traitor plotline, I wasn't really interested in Theron, for several reasons. But watching the storyplot displaced and calm, you can see a pattern in his behavior. Acutally some similar things he already did.

     

    I for one don't want to punish him for being true to his ideology. Again, he never was a traitor in any degree. It is no secret, that he is a Republican. Even as our companion he is pro republic. He helped build the Alliance to save the Republic. Also nothing critical about that, but quite obvious during the whole time. While Lana found a new purpose in the Alliance, he did everything to ensure our win over Valkorion, but never went afar from the republican interests.

     

    Reflecting over Therons story, it is a standard operative storyplot. I like those kind of stories and I sypathise with Theron by now entierly, ...even if he is my enemy. His goal was never to help the Outlander become "king" but to win the war. The Outlander "overstepped". IMHO I belive the Eternal Alliance is the better of two worlds. It is easy to understand, that the Outlander want to solidise this status. Also it is understandable, that Theron wants the Republic to prevail. It's ok for me to not have to be on the same side with Theron. The point is reached, when the Outlander and Theron have to follow their personal goals. This does not mean, the "Outlander" have to kill Theron. But I'd like to see him sweat a bit.:D

     

    Like in, he wants me to play the villan part, well then I'll play the best villian I could be, and give him a lelluva ride to achieve his goal. Only by doing my part in this game, Theron can win, so the Outlander can win. The truth about the Traitor storyplot is, the Outlander has to do anyting to support Theron. If this means, the Outlander has to play the villan role, then it has to be this way.

     

    I love Theron, because he is a great and an interesting plot device. I'd go so far, that his story could have a simliar impact on our alts similar to the Valkorion plotline. I'd like to have the next addon connected with him.

  9. Out of curiosity why did you find the Smuggler to feel out of place in Star Wars? I could understand that with the Agent, since it is the most unique of the classes in not being loosely inspired by a film character. The Smuggler however is pretty much Han Solo in the Old Republic.
    Han Solo, ...he stole my Princess. He is not as smooth as Lando. He's just a space hobo with a furry biped dog. Aside for being very negative to scoundrels like Han for over 32 years: I do not get afond with the gameplay of the two classes, who are actually mirror classes. So, no wonder here. I do however like their stories. Yet they do not feel to me like major players in the SWTOR big storyplot. Both of them actually try to keep a low profile, wihle all the other classes are all over the place.
  10. Agent and Smuggler. They are the most unStarWar-ish classes for me and even if their class stories actually are a lot of fun I simply can't get along with either of their specialised classes. Since the release of the game, I try over and over and again to finally finish those 2 classes, but my Smuggler with the highest Level is just LVL 26 and my Agent I recently got to LVL 30. Both of them are about 5 years old by now. The class gameplay simply does not fit with me.

     

    Another class I dislike, ...well acutally I like the gameplay, but don't like the story at all, is the Trooper. In my honest opinion, it is a bad and unapealing story filled with contradictions. As if you can wander around free as the wind and do as you like as a soldier.... Also alsmost any of the companions I'd rather show the way through the airlock than teaming up.

  11. I love playing through the class stories and I also enjoyed the Makeb & Revan stories.

     

    Why is it that I just can't enjoy myself playing through KOTFE & KOTET? Why does it feel like work instead of fun?

     

    I'm trying to put my finger on it, but I'm having trouble figuring it out precisely. I think it has a lot to do with the eradication of the Imp/Republic division as an important point in the story and the way it bastardizes the Force with the idea that the Knights of Zakuul are somehow more powerful than the light or dark because of their more neutral path.

     

    It just isn't fun. It doesn't feel enough like Star Wars. Who thought this was a good idea for a story direction?

    I kind of agree. It is a nice story, but no Star Wars apliant one. Also I raise the topic with another issue. Why do our classes behave during the dialogues of Kotfe and Koket like they never fought before and anytime we won, it was just utter luck and not skill? I thought we are "The Outlander" THE most succesfull and competent fighter around, if we consider the classstoryplots. Yet anytime I have a "bossfight" the dialoguesequences are showing how our character is used as a floor wiper. Heck of a hero, ain't we? /irony

  12. ^^ This. That's exactly what I'm thinking too. Say there are issues...game dies...say it's fine, and if they go under, we call them liars. It's a no win atm. We just have to dig our heels in and keep at them to say how important the game is to us, here and on all social media, with hashtags for Disney, EA, Bioware, Gaming, Star Wars, LucasArts, so that the message touches as many important people as possible.
    Sadly another message was quite clear and obiously Disney reacted to that. The anti Lockbox petition.
  13. Could someone explain to me why in peoples mind "ending developement" means "shutting down"? Because in my mind it doesn't. It means maintenance mode, and that can go on for years, and probably will as long as SWTOR makes profit, which it does. We know we are in maintenance mode when there are no patches coming, and only thing that happens is server maintenance every other week. It takes one employer to keep the game in maintenance, probably not even working full-time in one game. We know from datamining that there is still content coming, so I don't think we are in for the maintenance mode this year. Why do you people have to blow everything out of proportion?

    I selected this post to quote, because most of the people here don't get why it is so important for SWTOR.

    It's not about shutting down or "maintenance mode". Either way SWTOR is dead without any new content. Since it is focused on story developent, not gaining new story will shorten the life of the game dramatically.

     

    How long can SWTOR survive only on Flashpoints, Operations and PVP? Or let me put this in another question: What does SWTOR different in Raiding, Groupcontent and PVP that is standing out from the MMO market?

    Exactly, nothing! The only thing that is something very special is the story driven content. Without this, SWTOR is just a standard MMO with nothing outstanding. By that I mean mechanics, gameplay mechanics, graphics, GUI, gameplay modes. Anything in here, we already have seen in other MMO's even more specialised in some way.

     

    So basically, no new story content equals SWTOR is pretty soon dead.

    Anyhow, if this is true, than this could mean, EA is really going to lose the Star Wars franchise. Several Star Wars games, which were in production, were either stopped, or the production studios were shut down. Also starting Star Wars projects were all stopped.

    This may be exactly why I always warned about the anti Lockbox petitions. People should be afraid to get what they are asking for. Disney is clearly not happy about the negative feedback EA is generating. It is not about Disney being the friendly Mouse Company, but the realisation that Disney don't need and don't want that kind of publicity for one of their biggest franchises. In their calculation, stopping the Star Wars EA deal is healthier, than letting EA handle this issue.

     

    So, we are now most likely at that point where the petitioners got what they wanted. ...But what about the active players, who actually love SWTOR? Well, bad luck, or? So, basically we got boned by some activists, who had to run their mouth before thinking the consequences through.

  14. The most complicated part of having new playable races are the mindsets of the developers. The main argument is still in place, "No alien looking race". So, ...basically 99,9999% of all the races in Star Wars. :mad:

     

    'Dafuk man! It's still my decision if I want a male Rodian alt who is having an affair with Malavai Quinn. If I want Quinn to kiss a Flyhead, than that's my personal SM show!:D:p

     

    Basically BioWare could add with ease those races into the game.

  15. I don't think it's completely untrue actually.

     

     

    EV is part of the Belsavis experience where we disover the existence of the Rakata and all that. EV does give some insights into the history of them and I think if I was just here for the story I'd definitely want to experience that.

     

    KP, EC, TFB, SAV, DF and DP are all part of the dread master story line that starts on Belsavis. In fact RotHC cartel is related to that as the Hutts were basically incited by the dread masters and this whole story arc finishes with DF and DP on Oricon. So it is a major storyline in the game that is linked to RotHC directly.

     

    Rav does seem to be a story by itself and ToS of course is part of the storyline of Revan. It's worth noting though that you can bypass it and even if you beat ToS, you do not actually defeat Revan until afterwards in the same solo quest.

     

    And of course the new Ops is very much linked to Iokath and the Scions are involved as well. The operations definitely are mostly linked to what's happening in the Universe though they are not directly part of the main story line necessarily.

     

    But operations are still operations. So that's why I suggest bringing SM back to the status of Normal Mode and creating explorable areas of the Operations that have champion bosses which only hint at the mechanics or have very simply ones so people can enjoy the story lines.

    Pretty much that! The storyplot ties are bound to the OPperations and in a story driven MMORPG it is quite imperative to outlive this storyplots, to get the idea and have an undersatanding why you have to jump to Planet X.

    By reading your post I finally realised why did we actually had to go to Makeb in the first! ...well, could have ben helpfull; if I had the oportunity to know the story from the Operations back then.

    Item #1...sm is bolstered..gear is irrelevant.

    item#2....some people will never be "good" players, no matter how hard you try and force the. should the devs stop making content for them? no, this game cant afford to give up any demographic that subscribes. sm is for them, not as a training ground for future nim raiders.

     

    should sm be nerfed? probably not all, but a few could use some editing. a few bosses blur the lines between sm and hm. underlurker probably kills quite a few pug groups. there isnt much consistancy between ops or even the bosses in an op. I really dont care what gear drops from any given op, you can get 248 gear from crates or losing enough times in pvp, the rewards for any given op dont really matter anymore.

    That's a good point! The problem witht he Ops is, not that they need to be nerfed. The point is, just very few people acutally do them. It is more than allright to have those for those kind of people! But as written before, if the story ties into the Operation, than it is very relevant to a player who focus on the story plot.

     

    At any other MMO I'd have no problem to say, "if you don't have the guts, don't go into Ops", but SWTOR is quite different from this. It is actually relevant to any PVE player to see the story plots in the Ops.

  16. I was actually thinking about this earlier today. And I really hope that isn't the case. The Alliance would be the only place that Theron and an Imperial LI could live together in peace. They are both too high profile to live anywhere with any anonymity. I mean I guess you could settle on Tatooine or Alderaan, or Hoth, but I still feel like the only place that they would be fully accepted is a neutral place where the people have started to embrace that not all the people from the other side are fanatics.

     

    I know, it is weird that I feel that way, since in one of my fics I did have a Sith Sorcerer and a Jedi Knight settle on Alderaan together, but that was 35 years before the Alliance was created. Without the Alliance Theron and an Imperial LI have no options to be together, he goes back to his home wherever that is, and the PC goes back to theirs. Just like after Yavin, and Ziost. I know, the Alliance wasn't created for the purpose of giving an Imperial LI and Theron a sanctuary, but that became a perk.

     

    I do believe that he is selfless, as shown by defending you against his own father if you choose to side with the Empire. I didn't choose the Empire to hurt him, but I was already allied with them. Also I had to get Quinn back.

     

    Which brings me to another point. Quinn was absolutely red team. If you look at it from his point of view, the SW starts taking orders from two Sith that Quinn and the SW have never seen. Let's call them green team. They claim the SW is the Emperor's Wrath. How does Quinn know that what they are saying true? He doesn't. But he knows that Baras serves the Empire. I don't think that Quinn agrees with everything that Baras does, based on certain conversations that you have with him. But he knows Baras, he doesn't know the Hand. He owes his career, and maybe even his life to Baras, Broysc was crazy enough to have killed Quinn. It isn't until the SW says something about how Baras could have raised Quinn above his station, and given him a better command then Balmorra that Quinn even thinks about it from that perspective. So being red team, not knowing that the Hand is actually part of red team, he watches the SW defect to what he thinks is green team. He "betrays" the SW. Who, by "defecting" to the green team has committed the first betrayal, to him, to Baras and most importantly to the Empire. Despite his feelings for the SW he acts out of loyalty to the Empire.

     

    Theron and Quinn are both put into impossible situations, made more impossible if they are romanced to the PC. None of their options are good. But they have to do what they think is right to save whatever it is they are holding on to. For Quinn, it is the Empire. For Theron, I hope it is the Alliance. They both wear the mantle of traitor, while it fits neither.

    Sorry for overlooking your great post.

    It is indeed heartbreaking to realise that neither side could win and live peacefully with the other one. The only real version of this is the Alliance. Those guys and gals were hammered together by fate. The first two to realise this were Theron and Lana. They actually think alike even if I always have my doubt on Lana being to sentimental on that idea.

     

    Theron I think is the clear minded one. He is pragmatic and bold. Differently from his parents he is neither to narrow-minded, nor to ethic to do what needs to be done. Just to be clear my rhetorical question, -would you (normal one) ally with the Sithlord who is the Minister of the SID and some Sithlord who is either one of the most notorious Lords in the Sith Council, or He is the former Emperors Wrath? - I'm not calling the Bounty hunter or the Agent, because, as bad as those could be, they are not even close as bad as Darth Nox/Imperiex or Lord Wrath.

     

    But let's flip the coin. Would he have no doubts for Republican heroes to simply switch sides and don't want to come back?

     

    If I am sure for one thing, Theron is definitely a smart fox.

    As for Quinn... He is brilliant, he is team Red, no doubt about this, but when he knew the Sith Warrior was clearly for Team Red and Darth Baras was the traitor, what did Quinn do? He betrayed the SW and automatically Team Red. But please here me out. Here I can only be subjective, because I liked him, I trusted him, and he was my Nr.1 companion as a Sith Warrior. I saw my alt as the killer of Vitiate and Quinn as Grandmoff. And then he betrayed me. -That's the point where it got Meta personal. I have a grudge on him because his character is so well written. Playing as Lord Wrath, I cannot forgive his betrayal and executed him on Iokath not as a hate murder, but as a statement, "Nobody betrays Lord Wrath!"

     

    Taking this idea further, I hope this decision has some impact in the dialogues between the Outlander and Theron. If I can use this decision to frighten Theron and build Lord Wrath as his most personal foe, that's perfect. I would like to have the opportunity to say as Lord Wrath at the very end of the story plot to Theron: "Surprise! I'm not gonna kill ya! Baddies are dead! C'mere you little piece of work! You thought you sorted all up? Guess what? I thought you need a little more motivation. Worked, didn't it?"

    He might be mad at Lord Wrath, but heh, better that than dead! ;)

    Funny thing about Thana Vesh, there are A LOT of people who like her. I am clearly one of them. She got pretty much everything that it takes to be a companion to the imperial classes with ease. I can't imagine one single class she wouldn't go well with. She is a real Spitfire, kinda Kira Carsen on Speed. And thinking of Republican Classes, I have to say, shew would also work pretty well with those. She can be cruel but is she a evil persona? Not really. She is driven, maybe to fast in acting than good for her. But her character design reached for the most part our sympathy. She is a lovable grunt.

    And she has a cool costume. :D

     

    As for fitting her in the story, ...did the imperial classes really struck her down? ;) We fought her and just crashed the entire spaceport on her on the dark side decision. This does not have to mean anything to a Sith. And most of us didn't wanted to kill her through the first playthrough.

  18. so, hands up if you think its the Outlander who is being possessed by whoever *fingers crossed for Vaylin* and Theron is doing, whatever it is he's doing out of pure panic? hence why he hasn't told us what he's doing. :eek:

     

    Simple. Would you trust a guy whose entire focus is in anihilating all of his enemies without remorse and being extremly cruel when it comes to traitors? Frankly, Theron has no reason to truly trust any version of our alts. He has spoken the truth, that he wanted an alliance to stop Valkorian and not another major faction. No matter what, I have not belived for a moment he wasn't lojal to the Republic. Even if you side with the Republic his problem remains: You being the leader of a rival faction to the Republic. No matter how humanitarian your behaviour is, you are not "Blueland".

     

    By the way, just a sidenote. In military simulations the teams are put in several colors, Blue, Red, Yellow and Green. Let's compare with SWTOR: Red= Sith Imperials; Blue 0 Republicans; Yellow/Gold = Alliance

     

    Keep that in mind and you'll understand my argument. Theron is still Blue and never changed his motives. We are the leader of Yellow. Already by that definition we have to be his enemy. Why? Because that's his job. Oh, don't get the idea, he wouldn't like the Outlander, maybe even love her/him. But I truly belive he is as dutyfull, lojal and heroic as Malcom. Sadly not lojal enough to the Aliance, but only as far as he have to.

    Nevertheless, I do not have any grudge against him. I even admire him for being a man of principles we can finally see. He is selfless and pure to the core, even if he is willing to sleep with the devil for his right cause. Alone for this I don't want to kill him, like I wanted to kill Malavai Quinn. The biggest difference I see between the two is, the one is a traitor, the other is lojal to his true cause. So, is Theron a traitor? -How coud he, if he never was really on my side?

     

    As I see this is, the Outlander got trapped in the midst of a spy krimi. The question is now, does he play the game, is he going to be the sacrificial lamb of Theron, or is he going to be the villan. Sadly the Outlander can't be the good guy, because he was demonized by Theron. - I am willing to play the game, ...well at least I'd like to try.

    After that I know there is no real way to move back the way it was, but that's ok. It would give Theron more depth and I would gain even more respect for him. If this can go the way I'd like to have in the dialogues, Theron would gain the most respect I could give to any companions or foes sofar in the game.

  19. Also, as someone else mentioned, if you want to see the story without the "hassle" of playing through them, look for them on YouTube.

    But it isn’t the same like walking through and having the dialogues by yourself. At any other MMO I would agree with you, but in SWTOR the focus is quite different and story driven.

     

    Just by my point of view, I will never be willing to be thrown into a random group doing Operations. Simply because I have seen how much damage in social behaviour and also knowing "your" class role in simple veteran flashpoint group added to the game. This chaotic behaviour is pulled over into story operations. Without having a point of order, so to speak, by having several players who actually know what is going to happen, it always ends and chaos and raid wipes. Well at least to me this is no fun at all, spending several hours wiping all over again to achieve nothing but frustration and adding several idiots on my ignore list.

     

    All I want is by having the opportunity to solo an Operation; BioWare could move players to firstly understand what is happening there. The next step is for them learning group tactics, and after that the players are able to work competitional. By my model, the learning curve of behaviour for Operations would be not as steep for players who are primarily using to handle themselves through the game by doing anything solo.

     

    Just look around in SWTOR. Almost the biggest part of players in here are actually playing it solo. Only on LVL 70 some few are starting to PVP or to do Story FP's, and even fewer of those are willing to do radings. So why not open this elitist idea up for those who want to see all the content? They don't need the same gear as the power-raiding people, who are already doing this stuff from the start.

     

    My point is simple, by adding a smooth learning curve for operation; nothing will be lost to the hardcore gamers. At best, they will even gain more people willing to do operations without being totally green, or having to learn those mechanics watching several hours of YouTube walkthrough videos.

  20. My point of view is quite simple on that matter:

    As a non operations guy, I'd like to see the storyplots tied to the end, wich happen mostly to end in Operations. But I am not that competition guy in a game I actually want to enjoy and relax. So for me having the possibility to go to the Operations, without wiping entire raiding groups would be neat. Because my alternative is, not playing Operations at all.

     

    My idea would go even further, by adding a 4th scale for Operations: Solo (self explayning); Story (learn how to in a group full of beginners with ****** gear), Veteran (those raiding parties know what they are doing, but have not the best gear) and Master (those guys are kicking arse)

     

    So there you have it! Anyone gets to be happy. By soloing the Operations, you can get the idea of basic mechanics and have the storyplot to an end. By doing the Sotry, you can learn the group mechanics, and the class mechanics in a team. The rest are classical aproaches to raids, any long therm MMO gamer already know.

Title says it all, doing this for fun since there's one for Quinn so for all you Theron lovers out there enjoy having a decent conversation with other Theron fans and talk about how much you like him and love him or features you like about him. Gay, bisexual and women all are welcome! Come in and have a Theron love fest!

     

    So for me Theron is attactive looking even for a 3D fictional character, has a cute butt and a sexy voice (he sounds British to me and that is like a massive certain something for me. Hehe!)

    Another add-on: For clarity: Comparing Theron to other companions and personal opinions about companions are okay and giving reasonings is understandable but let's keep the hate/kill speech out of this.

     

    Actually I am no big fan of Theron. But in my defense, playing with the german client, I do not get to hear the original voices and have to suffice with the german ones, who happen to be from time to time awfull. So is Theron german voice. He sound like an asthmatic bufon. So clearly my first impression was "Ihhh! What's with that guy?" The second thing that I disliked was for him being a Shawn, so basically the grand-grandson of the allmighty Revan,... who happens that I can't stand at all.

     

    Well now you are asking, why is this dude even bothering then, writing all those negative impressions of Theron in a positive Theron thread? Well, because I actually begin to like Theron since Iokath. After playing the story so far, I like the idea for him being a tripple agent and hiding his true motivations in plain sight. You don't have to be against him at all. ...but you could, ...act as if. Well I very hope so, because playing with my alt being a Sith Warrior, ...well you know, intense power, absolute and being a overkill persona, it could be very easy to handle him the way my Sith Warrior handles traitors. But I wonder, could we actually play the whole Theron game as well? He clearly needs a main villain, to gain trust in the Order. I would like the idea, that my Sith Warrior actually could see through this sharade but still playing the evil part.

    That was the moment I thought, well if he is really betraying my SW, then he is dead, but if he acutally doesn't, that would be an intense act for both sides. I'd like to see his face, when he realise, him thinking to play me, while the whole time I played him and gave him an waterproof alibi fo the Order. On this I agree with Theron, I want to catch the Order as well.

     

    This would be the outcome I'd like and the new facette of my Sith Warrior, who came from being just a brute, to being a patriot, later transformed into a freedomfighter, then finally became one of the most powerfull chreature in the galaxy, by ruling the Alliance. So, for him showing he learned and became smart and wise, I would like to see. And to become this, I need Theron and I need his spy games. I truly hope, I don't have to kill him. But frankly, hunting him and growling angry at him is fun. :D

  22. There are 2 villians who got under my skin. One I hate deeply, while the other I mostly sympathise with:

     

    The one I truly hate is Revan. I simply never got over the idea, that Revan was revmaped as anything in this game. While he was in KotoR, I liked for him being that shady persona, and it was a great moment, when I found out, my toon was Revan in the flesh. The way he was during KotoR he was perfect. The way he was portraied during KotoR 2 was also interesting. But when I encountered the first time the Revanites, it turned me so off, I wanted to destroy everything that have any bondancy with Revan. During The Flashpoint "The Foundry" I still freak out while fighting him. ...I deeply despise him! And I was very angry back them during Shadow of Revan, after fighting him and not being able to kill him by myself. This goes deep and very personal for me.

     

    The other villian that got under my skin is Valkorion. Wile I was never a big fan of Vitiate, I began during the Eternal Empire storyplot to sympathise with Valkorion. He is a very interesting man. Only now I began to understand why he was the way he is. He is extremly charismatic and the worst that could happen is at some point you have to sympathise with him. I simply can't have a grudge on him. At any point I knew he is going to betray me, he is going to use me, pervert my decisions, yet I liked him. At the end, fighting him did not feel right. It was no hate nor rage behind my emotions. I just felt sad, that I am loosing one of the best dialogue partners in the game. Fighting him in any way, was the reason to play my main. Loosing him, was loosing my drive. He was kinda the Joker to my Batman. The one can not exist without the other.

    1. Ashara Zavros - She is so misplaced in the SI story plot. Either way I tried with several SI toons, I never could get warm with her personality. Anytime I end up wanting to kill her.
    2. Skadge - That's the biggest idiot and psychopath I've ever seen. He does not fit to any class story. He is Thatguy who wants to kill you, when you are not looking.
    3. Scorpio - She is dangerous. Dangerous to you and to anything that lives in the galaxy. Denying it is just idiotic!
    4. Rusk - Oh man! He is so freaking stiff and by the book, I want to barf.
    5. Theron - He is a slimmer! Well at least playing the game on English his voice is ok, but playing in German (my native language) he sounds like an asthmatic. At any end of a sentence he pants. I want to kill him anytime he opens his mouth!
    6. Lana - She just pops in and is automatically "your" best friend. ... Just like that... Why?!
    7. Quinn -Eh, I don't like him. He could have been perfect, if we could have killed him as a SW while he tried to betray us.
    8. Doc - He simply lacks of charisma.
    9. Gault - TO any other class he could have been an asset and a fun one, but after hunting him for almost a quarter of the Bout hunter story, the only reaction you get, while capturing him is, "I want to put a bullet in his head!"
    10. Tharan Cedrax - That nihilistic slimmer!
    11. Jorgan - I can’t get along with that guy...! I want to show him the airlock the first time I get my ship.
    12. Broonmark -Just an uncharismatic clone of Khem Val.

  24. Its beyond help nor can it get the help it needs cause of the current player base defending against the changes it needs. It has been years and its just been going down hill.

     

    Far as i could tell the game had 2.5m players at release then in 3 months the game died down quickly, 3-5 months the game was likely at 500k. It took them too long to fix anything cause EA ditches it, just simple pvp tweaks took 3 months. EA probably had plans for F2P when ppl got tired of subbing to a game that got no care. Of course it wasn't the only reason as there could probably have been a long list of terrible ideas they listened to from a minority of gamers that thought they knew best for everyone else. AND BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!!.

     

    Who cares really anymore, but i will say its funny to hear people try to blame its failure on trying to chase WoW or mmo's are just no longer popular. Again, blah blah blah.

     

     

     

    How to attract more players, cause it cannot be fixed.

     

    - Ability Bloat: There are abilities that are still needlessly around. You don't need a slow when you got 3-5 slow abilities or can make it so nearly all you attacks can apply a slow. Just recently i been playing Jedi Kinetic Combat Force breach is useless bloat as another example and i would so that 15 def charges ability is also just a pest and has no skill to it. Then there is dps having 3-4 heals and a cleanse... 2 heals tops and a cleanse (it just adds up to useless bloat, i rather dps not have any healing).

     

    - Abilities should be strong from the start. Instead you have to wait many levels to start unlocking their passives in the linear skill tree.

     

    - Abilities should be 5-6 single target skills, 2-3 aoe. Im not going to get into the others, but if you go over 24 combat ablities then thats just not needed at all. If you want to bring new skills into the game they should replace current ones to give a fresh appearance to the class and show of improvement.

     

    - Abilities that make sense. Why is my Sith Jug trying to shout things to death?. Why is my double-bladed jedi kinetic combat throwing boulders instead of closing the distance and slicing away?. The kits don't make and in that way are not as fun as the small population this game has believes they are. I mean of course to them they are fun, but lets bring in more players here instead of continuing to appease the 100-300k players who will play it no matter the changes.

     

    - Less cooldowns and removed triggerd effects if can't show clearly on the character. The action is found on my action bar with its bloated cooldowns and effect triggers nearby (hp bars above it). I just find myself looking down more then im looking at the action in game. Its a SW game and action should be experienced with in the combat.

     

    - Linear skill tree REMOVED. This is totally not needed and only adds not needed confusiong to playing multiple classes. The abilities feel stripped down and boring thanks to any decent effects held back and put into passive you have to wait to unlock and at that multiple effects for skills (by lvl 50 you probably altered some attack 5 times).

     

    - Skill tree can be kept, but also something not needed if classes were built right. Classes should be built for pvp cause those skills easily would effect pve. It just makes sense you attack a npc the same a pc in combat.

     

    - Legacy brought to true greatness instead of some tool for the cartel market. Legacy should be something players slowly build towards from achievements and resources. It should be account wide rather then having to unlock stuff for every character over and over again. Not that it matters cause what it offers is pretty sad ideas for the vast majority.

     

    - Cartel market RNG killed. Honestly, micro is gross enough without some unknown rng on item drops. Just sell all the items on the market and sell them at a fair price: (subs get 50% off all items, and sure remove the 500 monthly cartel coins given).

     

    - Flash points fixed up (HA, ya... thats not happening). It would be great if the scale of things and the BS in some fights could be ironed down. I mean walking into a FP and watching the group avoid 4/5 fights and boss fights that you cheese cause the damage they output is just cheating. If people are not able to be challenged fairly in a fun way then its a fail.

     

    - Class missions 1-50 (or higher) giving the much needed gear players should be getting so they can focus purely on class missions instead of running heroics on the side or whatever. The current point is to allow players to enjoy story and get caught up, lets kill whats killing the experience here (the need to gear).

     

    - Adaptive gear with scaling stats. This would be great if stats would scale until some point the player is caught up to some expansion. Also, make sure weapons are scaling, as they should of course.

     

     

     

    Well, i won't check the responses. I left a rough nearly on the spot thoughts post in hope this game finally does something with itself. I bought a collectors edition (before release) with all the hopes for this game. I;m saying i wanted it to succeed and if it turned things around enough it would be attractive enough to stay and bring in a growing player base.

     

    Games should be fun and challenging, but when i play SWTOR the only thing truly good about it is the story. Of course tho, people will just be against any change. Well, if you guys won't make compromises then you just enjoy your slowly dying game that you help make happen. You don't care about the game when you're killing it.

     

    So basically, what you are saying is, "give us godmode and people will start to play the game!"

    What?!:D

     

    Your ideas are exactly what somebody would do in a game like Skyrim or Witcher. Cheatcode a lot of money, bolster up your skills to maximum and go frag anything. Well maybe in singleplayer games this works, but not in an MMO. It simply misses the entire idea of an MMO. You have to grow into your role.

     

    But that is a problem here. You can't grow into your role, if you never learn what your class is doing. By speeding up the XP gained, the player is trying to wrap his mind behind a possible workflow, while during the next Level, the whole workflow he managed to figure out, is trown apart, while adding a/or several new skill/s.

    Also it makes no sense, that several classes have to fixate your view on CD's and Crit-shots the whole time on the skillbars. While you can manage with others because they have a rotation. Also it is quite unpractical for some classes to have to hit way more skills to bolster their Damage/Heal, wile others just have to keep up the right rotation, build up from just 6-9 keys.

    ...but that is just leveling the ground to give a fair chance to anyone, either for PVP pr PVE.

     

    Second, don't try to copy WOW. It sin't working, it never did! No other MMO wich tried to be compared to WOW was ever succesfull. Any MMO which tried to be unique in some way was interesting, ....if! Yes, if the production studio and the publisher focus their ressources on fast improvements and addons. (So basically any MMO aside from WOW faild that)

    All the MMO's who failed misserably yet being AAA productions also never learned from the past mistakes WOW did. Well, WOW is a phenomenon, also it is the only MMO game that outgrew its mistakes. SWTOR sadly never did! And if you ask me, the developers even enlarged the mistakes of the game. Open PVP is dead. Class story plots, are dead. Decisions do not count at all. Social gameplay was killed off by random class grouping. Class handling does not only look different, any class and subclass behave extremly different, like playing another game. Also that 3 different GUI for biped avatar, spacemissions and starfighter missions. Killing off the learning curve is the worst that could happen to any MMO. Bad support. Lootboxing. ETC. List of missed opportunities goes on and on here.
