  1. Ok let me begin by asking you all to read what i put here before you post based on my title.

Irun a guild. We cleared everything raid wise tonight (locked till next week).

I have foundevery datacron minus the broken +4 aim in ilum (i have the +10 stats aswell).

i am valor 55. i pvp almsot all day minus the hard modes, which i am locked out on till tomoz.

i have finished my crew skills.

    i have the magenta crystal.

i have leveled my alt to 50 and dont plan on another one full stop.

so what am i meant to do now.

i alo have several issues with the amount of bugs in this game, most to do with the pve content, every FP we have done has had atleast one boss with a bug which in most cases makes it un doable until u reset it and try it again.

The raid bosses are generally ok minus bonethrasher and Soa.

I dont mind bugs, however EVERYTHING is buggy, from the pvp, to the companions, to the pve, to the social chat bars, to the guild system , to the GTN, to the questing, to even some of the dailies, to the world bosses, to the traveling, to the dying, the spawning, the selling, the buying,to the UI. just everything.

so if you hae read all this and think i msad ...i probably am i couldnt care less, i pay 8.99 a month to play this and my money is spent on standing in a virtual world on a fleet with a sharded instance where there is literally less than 2k people on the server with nothing but the mass of mounts i have to switch between for fun.

    am i missing something?

anyways flame all you want, i dont care if you bothered to get this far or when u do im sure youll understand my meaning.

SWTOR is currently lacking what MMO's should have as standard.

Haven't you sort of answered your own question? You've done all the content. You don't plan to level through it again and assuming the rest of your guild feels the same I'd imagine the solution is obvious. Move on to another game?

Your guild will probably clear the new content released in the patch tomorrow within a day, given that clearing content is your goal. Honestly you should just move on. Come back for expansions or after several months of new content have hit.

I'm surprised you've geared up your entire guild already with raid loot. But like I said if you've done it all and have no desire to do it again then there's absolutely no reason to stay.

  2. I do this all the time if my companion needs the gear. Which is not that often since I keep him up to date via the GTN. I'm gonna NEED it for the same reason I would NEED it if the drop was a mod for my weapon/armor. The companion is a weapon or more armor a tool for my character.

Yeah it just doesn't work in PUG's. In a guild group where everyone knows that's what you do though I imagine it works fine.

I think some people just have a hard time wrapping their minds around the reasoning of rolling need on flashpoint loot for a companion not being used in the flashpoints or future flashpoints those are really the only places where you really need said loot. Let's face it, a companion in all greens is good enough for the solo content in this game.

  3. Yeah, can't really tell people how to play though they should feel free to take advice. If you need on gear for your companion that another party member can use, don't expect them to invite you to a future group.

People group and do flashpoints for loot. We like to say it's for the encounters, story, and etc but a vast majority are just there for the loot. People don't want to go in and have a one in four chance every time a piece of gear they can actually use drops. It's why group leaders tend to try and get one of each class, to insure everyone has a good chance to get a drop. But if you roll for each of your five companions, you're basically putting yourself ahead of everyone else.

I won't tell you to not do that given that behavior is policed by the community. But generally if you want loot for your companion, ask first.

  4. Because you phrased it in no way like an Opinion. there was no "I think" or "I feel." It was basically a bullet list like you would see of facts. then when someone said in your opinion, you said wrong and started saying guildmates are leaving, when that doesn't change that it is your opinion.

And the no 50 against lower levels fixes the exact complaint you mentioned in your post.

Opinions don't have to be phrased as opinions. They are what they are regardless of phrasing. "I think" and "I feel' are actually kind of useless garbage in grammar and any English professor would give you marks for using them.

  5. Am I doing something wrong or is this game just completely unbalanced?

I cna roll through a Quest zone with no problems then hit one freaking elite and get stonewalled... SERIOUSLY. The damage output of some of these guys is no where near the same as the rest. Making a game epic doesn't involve making it require a permanent healer.

You would think that a little effort would be put into ensuring a fun experience, rather than a frustrating and anger inducing one. The GAME is supposed to be fun.

Also, What the heck is up with the jump in respawn time? 10 sec, 30 sec, 2 minutes, 10 minutes? Were you smoking crack when you came up wiht this idea? Lets punish the guys who are struggling with a part so that they just dont wnat to play at all... yeah, thats a good move. Why should I pay you for a subscription if I am only getting angry with the game?

Would be far more productive to get more specific and ask for help in your class forum.

  6. Problem is that I really don't like that heap of metal called Coruscant. I made a sage to level 11 and just stopped. The initial view of Coruscant when arriving is great. Once you get inside, it's dull dull dull....

tell me does Coruscant get better or is it really just all steel walls inside buildings? Because that's seriously what's keeping me from playing rep alts.

Yeah I'm not a fan either, which is odd because I love Nar Shaddaa which is basically the same but different color scheme and sky. What annoyed me most about Coruscant was the long run to the Senate Tower from the taxi.

I'm much more fond of Dromund Kaas, probably my favorite planet in the game. But I'm weak vs stormy worlds.

Another huge disadvantage for the Republic is Taris. Most annoying planet in the game to navigate. You come across it as an Imperial much later. Also as an Imperial it's night time, though only when you look up, on the ground it's day time. Always found that weird.

  7. Yeah, like others have said the voice acting and storylines are better on the Imperial side. Plus they have the gear that's the black with little red lights all over it and nerds love that stuff.

I'm currently leveling a Sage and it's barren on the Republic side. During peak hours there are only about 90-110 players on the Republic Fleet, the market is severely lacking compared to that of the Imperials, and the population on the mid range planets are depressing. I thought it may be because of my server name, Shadow Hand. It's probably more alluring to people going Imperial. I personally chose it because it was the only east coast server at the time with a heavy population.

I mean look at the smuggler, worst voice acting in the game. It's hit and miss, but I count far more misses. Trooper male, Sage male, completely lackluster. Sure Jedi may shun emotion to a degree but they're not drones. I actually like the Sage storyline, but it's a slow starter and it really doesn't grab you. The only advantage they have are some of starter locations they get on some of the worlds are far better in appearance and feel more "iconic"; Anchorhead for example.

And before that guy comes around like in all the other threads and says "That's just your opinion", I'll say yes it's my opinion.

  8. Happened to me while I was on it alone last week. Can't remember if I had gone afk, I remember moving around a bit to make sure I didn't get logged out but was watching TV for most of the ride and looked back to find myself on the ground several minutes away from the datacron.

The Balloon had reset to the start and I didn't make it back in time.

  9. People probably didnt even know what the heck a guild bank was before that. It was probably some random idea thrown out by players.

"jeez i wish we could all put our stuff and money in the same spot and share it"

Then blizzard was like lets do that.

Pretty sure EQ2 launched with a guild bank.

  10. Really tho is a guild bank going to really keep us interested ?

    PvP is boring.

    End game content is boring.

Ilum is pointless. (see more gold farmers in Ilum then people pvping)

Not to mention how unbalanced pvp is @ 50 if you not Imp, due to animations bugs. Then you have problem with one side winning more and getting ahead and making it very hard for other side to catch up gear wise.

Still haven't fixed group bug so when you leave pvp you have to setup group again. (this alone made my friend quit).

I fear the damage is already done, on my server at least any ways. You got 40% more imps and they mostly are all 50s with almost full pvp sets. Rep are mostly 30-40, some 50s like my self with almost full pvp sets. Enter a Wz and are faced to fight 6 50s with full sets with only 2 50s and 6 low levels. Problem is if anyone sub 50 fights a avg geared 50, its always going to end in lose because of expertise. This is worst part for me, bioware have gone down same route as WoW and ruined pvp. They just had to add an elite stat that totally ruins pvp. Taking it beyond skill and turning it into a gear feast. That for me is a bridge too far.

I want say I speak for "us", but yeah the whole ratio of Imperial to Republic is crazy. I really wish I had rolled my Sage on a server that had a Republic sounding name. Guess not many Republic players rolled Shadow Hand because there's literally twice as many Imperials on the fleet than Republic during peak hours. But I should have expected that with a server name like Shadow Hand.

  11. Anybody know if you can turn off the legacy name? I don't want to pick one ( I find it odd to have last names on my characters) that applies to all my characters. If not, any word on if they are implementing the ability to do so? I'm getting tired of clicking the X to close the choose a legacy name box.

All the other things mentioned sound great!

Yes in preferences you can disable your legacy title.

  12. This is not an MMO. Just because it says MMO on the box doesn't make it an MMO any more than me dressing up like Queen Elizabeth makes me royalty.

This is a single player RPG with a few tacked on MMO elements and some solo space mini games.

Please stop insulting all the people who have worked so hard to produce true MMORPGs by saying this game is an MMORPG.

It's just NOT. Yes, I know it has a subscription fee, but that STILL does not make it an MMORPG.

    It's a fraud, a pretender, it's a con. Dont' fall for it.

No it's the persistent world and in-game economy that make it an MMOG. It actually takes very little to qualify. It's no more a single player RPG than any other recent themepark MMO. So don't worry, no one is insulted.

  13. As far as I know SWTOR is not an MMO. Just because you charge a monthly fee and CALL it a MMO, doesn't make it an MMO.

I have a cat, and even thought I would like her to be an elephant, she's still just a cat, even if I call her an elephant.

Fits the definition, just because you don't like it doesn't mean you can redefine it. Just say you don't like it.

  14. As someone that likes SWTOR, I still have to beg to differ with the OP.

I won't nail each point I disagree with, as many are doing that already, but SWTOR is not a game for gamers, it is a game for role-players. There is a distinct difference. The game chose to omit many of that things that the gamers want in an MMO.

It did, however, cater to the role-players just fine in the way of story; and yet still dropped the ball entirely in simple things like being able to interact with the environment (like sitting in chairs, something that even older games like SWG or WoW pulled off).

I'm more role-player than gamer, myself. What I mean by that is that I really don't play console games or regular video games, and I play MMOs for the social aspect. No, I don't stand around in an MMO and actually role-play in game. My role-playing is done in the old-fashioned, table-top RPG sense every Monday night, and has been for over 20 years.

But SWTOR is not a game for gamers, by any stretch.

I'd say it's not good for role-players at all, given it defines the role and like you say provides you with very little of what role-players typically demand. But that asides, are role-players not gamers? I'm still waiting on that other guy to define "gamer" from before. He doesn't seem to be able to.

Is this just another case of trying to apply social tiers to a group of people? Gamers play games, this is a game. People play it, they're gamers. It's no more complicated than that.
