  1. My Agent was affected by the Chapter X bug and couldn't complete it, was stuck in the War Room loop. When Chapter XI launched my Agent's Chapter X progress was reset.

Is this bug now fixed? I've done a forum search and there seems to be conflicting messages. I don't mind re-running Chapter X but I don't want to waste my time if the issue is still not resolved.

  2. There has been nothing official on this and the ONLY thing I have seen about a fix was someone posting that it will be fixed at the next update. It would be nice to get an official acknowledgement of the problem and an ETA on the fix. Its things like this that is the reason I don't have a long term subscription. I have been playing since early access but probably don't have a total of 20 months subscribed. Why keep paying when things don't get fixed, and gameplay is boring and lackluster, and the powers that be just don't give a crap about the players.

Exactly. If this doesn't get fixed in a timely fashion (i.e. in time for Chapter 11) then I won't reward them with a renewed subscription. Cancelling is the only power we have really, they take scant notice of anything posted here or in-game.

  3. I'm a recovering althoholic. KOTFE cured me! Not just Chapter X, but all of it. The story has very little variation based on class, faction or LS/DS. Then there's the delaying tactics. Cut scenes have a lot of ponderous filler and slow camera pans that are just there to slow everything down. And then there's in the spammy combat that poses no challenge other than to slow you down. Add all this up and it becomes totally tedious to take alts through it. And it can only get worse the more chapters they add, assuming it continues in the same vein (as it surely will).

A return to story is only welcome if there's sufficient story to make repeat plays interesting. Otherwise all it does is funnel a very wide-ranging and multi-faceted set of class, companion and faction stories into one narrow 'one size fits all' story where everyone shares the same companions, missions, dialogues and narrow range of choices.

  4. Just ran into the same problem with my Operative. Chapter 10 won't complete. The cut scene didn't auto trigger, it needed interactioin with Lana to start it. But after the dialogue choices and the final cutscene with Arcann and Vaylin I'm returned to the war room and mission status doesnt advance, It' reverts back to "Travel to the war room on Odessen". The sequence can be repeated by talking to Lana again, but with the same result.

I've tried all the usual stuff like relogging, resetting the instance, travelling offworld and back etc.

I can't believe this hasn't been hotfxed yet. It's a showstopper, quite literally. Leaving it to a forthcoming patch is not good enough, this needs hotfixing. Besides there's not even any acknowledgement a fix is incoming or that it's even a known issue. Not good enough.

This game is a total shambles currently. It can't even be called "maintenance mode" because they aren't even maintaining it.

  5. I've heard this before. Even comments that, a 660 will outperform a 740 and so forth. How much of that is true?

Very true. A GTX 660 will outperform a GT 740 by a significant margin. In fact, a GTX 660 will give a GTX 950 a good run for its money too, it's not far behind.

The 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 part of the designation is more important than the 600, 700, 900 part, at least from one product generation to the next, sometimes across two generations.

To the OP, there's not a lot of options for upgrading your current PC, at least nothing worth the money. Save your money and put it towards a new machine of some sort.

  6. I find Gunnery Commando / Arsenal Merc the easiest / most releaxing to play. Rotations are simple, good crowd control, fairly mobile (nowadays, wasn't always the case). Perhaps not the top potential dps, but it

I find Sentinel / Marauder the hardest to play mostly because the rotations feel messy to me, nothing seems to flow properly with the cooldowns and priority system. I'm likely doing it wrong I admit.

Sniper / Gunslinger I just find frustrating to play because of the cover system.

Shadow / Assassin I've never much enjoyed as I don't like the dual saber visually. Playstyle is pretty easy though and they have the advantage of stealth.

In the middle are Guardian / Jugg, Scoundrel / Operative, Vangaurd / PT and Sage / Sorc all of which I find pretty easy and fun to play.

I play a lot of alts but if I had to restrict myself to one it would be Gunnery Commando (or Arsenal Merc).

  7. Hey folks,

I wanted to let all of you know that we are looking into the emails. For starters, here are a few things you should look for. As always, make sure to check all of your email folders, including spam, promotions, etc. The subject line of the email is either "A Familiar Face Joins Your Team - Play Chapter 10 Now!" or "Chapter 10 and Firebrand are here - Play Now!". I know of some users who deleted the email thinking it was just our normal newsletter, but your codes were contained in those emails.

Now, with all of that being said, I am looking into a few things:

    • Was the email sent to everyone who qualified.
    • Were there any errors during sending, that caused some people to be missed.
    • Did any other issues occur during the process which caused some people to be missed.

I have been going through this thread to verify that users were properly identified. As an example, Mutiny, the OP of this thread. I can see that you qualified for the email, and are on the list of people who received emails. So now I am checking on our side to ensure that users like you were in fact properly sent their email.

I will let you know what I find out!

    -eric

Thanks for looking into this Eric. What should affected customers do? Wait for you to respond further here or submit an in-game ticket?

Has anyone had their missing coiin code awarded via in-game ticket yet?

  8. Whilst I totally agree it's not good, it's far from a new problem. However there's a reason it seems to be getting worse. Most of the problems described here are cured by finding a good guild to run Ops, FPs and PvP with. But, most established guilds seem to be suffering from low participation due to how stale the group-oriented content has become in this game.

With such a paucity of new group content added to the game, most guilds seem to be idling. Where there is still Ops activity it's in the form of 'raid logging' and many players aren't seen much outside of raid hours. Consequently, there's very little mentoring of new players, no Stronghold activity (which is often bugged anyway), very few adhoc FP or Ops runs, not much guild-based PvP etc etc.

KOTFE has focused on solo story. The success or otherwise of this can be debated, but what can't be disputed is that KOTFE has done almost nothing for group-oriented and guild-based gameplay.

MMOs live and die by their community. Neglect group content and you neglect community with inevitable consequences. Ultimately you end up with a single player game with a few multiplayer components dominated by the worst that PUG-mentality can generate.

  9. Another patch comes and goes and STILL companion buffs are constantly dropping. This has been going on for a long time now.

    They drop:

    On dismounting

    On zoning

    On changing roles

    On summoning

On using clickable elevators and doors

Randomly for no reason (have seen them just disappear while running around).

This is a highly visible bug that affects everyone. Players must be constantly rebuffing their companions day in day out. And every time they do, how many of them wonder why it's so beyond the ability (or motivation?) of the devs to actually fix it?

  10. "Whaaa, I bought a lottery ticket and I didn't win"

That is how your complaint reads OP.

Packs are randomized loot bags. You have ABSOLUTELY ZERO guarantee of getting a specific item, just like you have absolutely zero guarantee of winning a jackpot when you buy a lottery ticket. The pack description even says what you will get (random things}.

The pack description doesn't say what your odds of winning any of the possible contents is though.

Lotteries publish their odds, so don't compare.

  11. Thanks. I did forget to mention I also have a 27" 4K monitor coming with it. I can run everything in "Ultra" now (it looks great as long as I don't move...lol). I thought about two graphics cards but it would have really driven the cost up (already paying more than I really wanted to). The new PCs primary task won't be gaming (but it is a nice side benefit if it is good at it...which I'm guessing it should be pretty good for that).

Well that does rather move the goalposts on your original question :)

Getting good gaming performance at 4K is a tricky business. But with a 6700k and a 6GB 980Ti you can't really throw much more at it, other than SLI. But as you say, that pushes the cost into crazy territory.

I suspect you'll be fine with most titles, including SWTOR. Let us know how you get on - I've been considering going 4K myself when I build my new system. But I'm probably going to wait for one of the new Nvidia Pascal cards.

  12. I may be getting old, because back in my day, game companies had to make actual games you could play; we'd read some reviews...and maybe give them $40-50 if the game seemed good. Otherwise, maybe we'd give it another look when it hit the $20 bargain bin.

Today we have people spending hundreds of dollars trying to get a single cosmetic item that probably took a day or two for someone to model and/or reskin. If anyone wonders why this game gets no real content anymore, this thread (and others like it) is why. CM whale fishing is basically Bioware shooting fish in a barrel.

CM Whale Fishing sums it up perfectly.

"Ah but the whales can afford it and it helps fund the game for everyone else" is the often stated defense.

And the evidence for that is? How much profit is being reinvested? How much actual new game development and bug fixing is going on?

Or is it a skeleton crew doing the bare minimum of content development and bug fixing while they ready the ship for the next whale fishing trip?

  13. You are right, for a single event it does not and history does not affect it. I even said that. However with multiple events the chance of getting a positive result at least once does increase with the number of events when looking at the whole. It will never be 100% though. Even the first example in the article you linked shows how chance works with a group of independent events. You can also read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probability.

Understood. But the chance to see a tangible rise in probability over multiple events does depend on the odds / drop chance in the first place. This article explains it nicely.

Using the probability calculator from that article and assuming a target of 99.9% probability (since you can never get to 100%) here's some examples.

In the case of a simple coin toss you would approach 99.9% probability of getting a heads result after about 10 tries. Unless you're

    of course :)

In the case of a 10% drop / success chance, you'd get to 99.9% after about 66 tries.

In the case of a 1% drop / success chance, you'd get to 99.9% after about 690 tries.

In the case of 0.1% drop / success chance, you'd get to 99.9% after about 6900 tries.

The real crunch is we've no idea what the drop chance is for any specific object (eg a specific light saber) in these RNG packs. It might be 1%, 0.1%, 0.01%, we' ve no idea. Bioware don't publish the odds and it's not audited in any way. And until such time as they do publish official odds, it's a chumps game really *IF* you're trying to win a specific item.

  14. This may be semantics but the chance of one getting the desired item does change with number of attempts. For an individual event (opening a box) the chance does not change, the events are independent, when opening a box your change of getting the item is still 10 % every time. However looking at all your attempts it does.

To get the percentage you want to be looking at the chance of failing all consecutive attempts.. It is calculated with the formula P(A ∩ B) = P(A)P(B) and then you go on from there. High school math

Previous failures do not increase or influence the chance of future success. See Gambler's Fallacy.

  15. To a point I agree but...

You do have more chances to get the item, but you do not have a higher chance to get the item each time you roll the dice against the RNG.

If by "chances" you mean "attempts" then yes. But you are no more likely to get the item if you attempt one time or 100 times.

It's not like these are 100 physical boxes and you're told 10 of them definitely contain a prize and 90 don't. Sure, in that scenario then the more times you pick a box your odds of winning go up (if you picked an empty box) because the pool of boxes decreases.

However with digital RNG boxes the pool is infinite and the odds are the same for every box. It doesn't matter if you open 1 or 100, your odds are exactly the same. There is no guaranteed payout, it's not like they've said that X number of these items MUST be won. It's entirely possible that no-one will win a specific item.
