  1. the biggest nerf to smash was that choke no longer builds shockwave, so now you can only do 2 quick smashes, berserk>smash, crush>smash w8. I still think they should take the smash off of berserk, but to each their own. I think with enough alacrity rage generation in carnage will hopefully be manageable
  2. ] Right now you should be getting RWZ and Regular Warzone commendation capped so you can buy a lot of gear right as soon as you hit 55.

I REPEAT, YOU WILL NOT NEED TO TRADE IN ELITE WAR HERO SHELLS FOR THE FIRST TIER OF PVP GEAR IN PATCH 2.0. EVERYTHING WILL BE DONE FROM SCRATCH.

Do you plan on leveling through PVE? I personally hate most all PVE content, I know capping comms will be useful, but wont you be wasint some comms during the leveling process unless you go straight PvE, or do you just plan on buying med packs and crap to burn comms in the mean time? I wish they would let us just buy the 55 gear. Just to stare at it in your inventory till u get there, but i guess i can see the problems with that since many people already have multiple characters with capped comms, they could buy min/maxed ranked gear sooner with legacy and have one character outgear everyone for a long time. But still i know leveling alts just starign at the gear in my inventory makes me want to level faster

  3. On your point about not having the two grinds, something I have suggested several times in other threads (and is completely ignored) wuld be to give gear acquired through pvp differant set bonuses than gear earned through pve. People would not HAVE to grind out two sets but still could if they would like to. Add in the weapon, belt or bracers and you can then mix up the bonuses.

Two pieve EWH with two pieve Dreadguard and twopiece Campaign. Maybe a 3-3 or even 4-2. Or get a single set and have the entire six piece. It eliminates the need to grind two separate sets if you want to do pvp and pve but gives people something to grind for if they want.

There will always be a "best" gear setup, and then people will ***** cause they have to PvE to get the best PvP gear or vice versa

  4. What sucks is the 72 stuff is going to be much harder to come by then the 27s. Most people who do PVE will be needing on the gear for a while then when they do finnally get around to REing it who knows how many attempts it will take to get the schematic, if they have schematics (god i hope they do)

I know that at the moment BW stated that they want PVE players to be able to go into PVP and be somewhere between recruit and EWH, but they never speicifically stated wehether it was working as intended that PVP gear is basically easier and faster PVE gear (welfare epics) to trivialize much of the old content. I wonder if this is BW's way of getting PVP gear out of PVE

  5. i think what you will find is alot MORE premades now, which is ludicrous. You will find that guilds will now take a 50 or two, and two lowbie members (or alts of guildies), and all you'll see are premades. Just like PVE when higher lvls can join a group to get the group by content quickly and efficiently. Only now BW allows them to do it in a WZ...

Personally, there nothing really wrong with lowbie pvp now. I dont see why they couldnt break it out to:

    10-29

    30-49

    50-54

    55

And have an option that lets people select 'any higher range (but not lower)', so a 23 lvl person could join the 30-49 group if his own queue is slow. Just have to bolster properly depending on queue.

I think they have the brackets the way they do because when the expansion comes out, the 30-49 bracket is not going to have enough people to make WZs. I'm sure they used the amount of players at a given level data that they have and we do not have to make this decision.

Sure tis gonna suck to get rolled if your a lowbie just getting into the bracket, but almost everyone playing this game that I have met or talked to has at least one lvl50 and I imagine most all of them will be leveling their lvl50 first, be it in PvP or PvE content. I know I plan on leveling my 50's first before I start working on another alt.

Although truthfully it may be kinda fun to leave my full WH Concealment operative stagnant for a couple months until I'm one of the few WH players in the bracket and stomp face for awhile.

The bolster does not bolster down. It just gives less bolster per peice of gear if the gear is over a certain item rating.

  6. Been playing around with this http://pts.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/sith-assassin/222/?build=000000000000000000000000000000000322230221112030001022000000000003020312012200010000000000000000&ver=20

0/29/17 giving up auto-maul for raze and running lightning charge

I don't see the point in gettign static cling and magnetism just to get auto duplicity proc, seems like alot of wasted points.

Would be intrested in that Darkness hybrid build with 100% shock dmg. Are you finding your self force starved? I wonder how much alacrity it would take to overcome force starvation in some of these builds

  7. So upon reading this thread, I can see what people are finally talking about when they said "win trading" its not Win Trading in the literal sense, people are just unhappy that they Q into Ranked WZs to have fun and enjoy the company of their fellow guildmates only to get stuck in an empty WZ whenever they have they are unfortunate enough to run into Darkness ;)

I believe that is a problem, that should be fixed, but its not right to call them win traders, call them WZ leavers or say they are ruining the ranked Q system, its not really trading anyone but you the person left in the empty WZ a win. I have grouped with these guys in rated, and they don't win trade when they get their own guild. They play to win, that being said I can see that's not really the point of the thread.

When Taisia says "mean" guilds he means people that spam general chat, or spam members in tells calling Darkness Win Traders or other derogatory things, and he does kind of have a point. That's not being "competitive" and keeping PvP alive, or any other BS you want to call it. That's just being unreasonable, and a if the other team sticks people like that with an empty WZ then that is within the game mechanics to do, so it's not really the fault of the Darkness but more so the people who feel it necessary to bag on them both publicly and privately.

This is now a small game. With an even smaller niche of Rated PVP guilds, since you have to be a subscriber, and most people are generally put off by playing Rated games within the first few games because they get facerolled by teams that have been around the block and sit in Q's for hours just licking their lips waiting for more fresh meat, it would be nice if Darkness started just taking any Q that pops. Its kind of crappy to make the other teams sit in an empty WZ when they want to play ranked WZs too but keep running into Darkness trying to play with themselves. But on the same note, its just as ****** for all the other teams to start rumors, and spam, and be rude to the members of the guild for doing that, it seem's its a catch 22, the more you spam and send nasty tells the more Darkness seems to become isolationist, if the other teams were more inclusive the WZ leavers would feel bad about leaving, but to snub an enemy is to raise up a friend.

Can't the GMs of the few guilds meet on a neutral voice speak and hash out their differences like adults? with so few people actually playing Ranked WZs it would be best for everyone involved if they did. I remember when BioWare called all the guilds, together for the Guild Summit, it was a time that would have allowed mediation on equal terms, but that's unlikely to happen again, so you guys just need to work it out. It will be better for everyone, including the Ranked Scene in general on The Bastion. This used to be THE PvP server around here, its sad that its fallen so far, you don't see stupid **** like this on POT5 forums, its just actual competitive banter.

    thanks

  8. i havnt been on tor in 2 weeks and im not botherd as im slowly losing interest in it :\ anyone else like this or is it just me?

I'm in the same boat, I haven't logged in in the last 5 days and the longer I go the less I want to log in.... I just heard my guild may have split in my absence if that turns out to be true that's gonna be it for me... :(

  9. 6. Mindlessly zerging a well defended node by yourself, somehow thinking that trying the same thing over and over again is going to provide a different result.

Only thing I can say about this one is that if the person can keep 4 people on one node that would make less people on the other nodes.

    Here's mine:

    1. Sorc's that forget to keep their bubble up and get face planted over and over by stealth classes.

    2. DPS that continually try to kill people getting heals rather then witch to the healer

    3. Having more then 3 healers in huttball that do nothing but heal, so we can't actually kill anything but everyone still tries to play "offensively" rather then group up n hold.

    4. Snipers dropping cover in melee range of a large group of enemies and not expecting to get destroyed

    5. Operatives trying to run the ball from mid to goalline...

    6. Lvl50 toons with 11k HPs in WZ's, check their gear, they have lvl 40 greens with defense stats (absorb) as a sniper

    7. Ilum groups of 20+ chasing 3 people all the way to the enemy spawn where there's a full ops group of enemies waiting.

    8. People who cry/yell in /ops usually insulting the rest of the team, or people who say "gg" in civil war when we're down by 10 points

  10. ...By now you should know that it is getting close to the end and at this stage in the game it is seriously CRUCIAL!...

This saddens me greatly. Everyday I log in, someone else is quitting.

I feel the same way! BW Please, please, hurry up and patch something to give people bored something to do!

I know, your waiting for 1.2 to make a big "save the day patch" but seriously think about your timing some more. You said "March" right? but the Guild Summit is the first week of March ending on the 7th. So unless your going to put "the big patch" in while your Dev team is talking to the leaders of a large chunk of guilds on your servers (some of which are e-famous enough to fly to Austin) then its going to be at least the second week of March. So thats March 13th for 1.2, barring you don't get feedback from the Summit that you feel needs to be implemented, yeh right:rolleyes:

So your expecting everyone to pay for another month of game time on promises? You probably going to release another teaser video right? around the time that everyone is going to start resubbing? Hopefully make a big blog post about it? I hope you also make a advertisement! Run it on TwitchTV or put it in movie theaters during the new 3D star wars movies.

I'm hoping 1.2 will be enough content to bring back those that have left, but I question if 1.1.4-6(?) will be enough bug fixes to keep current subscribers :( I would love to see "all" the blatant bugs fixed by 1.1.6 then BOOM, huge content patch 1.2, and we have everything we have been hoping for. Guild Banks, Legacy customization/skills, New PVP Wz, new Ilum that doesn't suck, new Raids, new set of tier gear, hue to chest, white color crystal, basically everything everyone wants!

  11. The problem, really, is that our energy mechanism is horribly suited to a burst class. The decreasing regen effect is perfectly built for a sustained DPS class that doesn't need to drop below 60%, whereas really we want to be loading damage as much as possible into those first few seconds (or, for healers, need to throw a burst of heals for emergencies). So honestly, a LOT of our issues could be solved by giving us an ability that boosted our MAX Energy, instead of just refilling our existing bar. If we could go into a fight with 150 energy instead of 100, but the max would drop down to 100 after ~6s, then think about how different our output would be.

In fact, let's just suggest Adrenaline Probe do that, where it adds +50 Energy (the current effect) AND raises your max Energy by 50 for 6s. Likewise, the Medicine talent that boosts it by +8/16 could boost both effects by that much, so a medic using AP could go up to 166 to make a serious burst of healing.

    That would be cool!

I'd also like to see an ability like:

Mimic Droid: Requires TA + 10/15 Energy; Instant.

Cast a droid onto your target, which mimic's your actions of Shiv and Backstab, allowing you to hit your target with those abilities from 8 yards further away. Lasts for 5 seconds. 60 second cool-down.

I'd also like to see an ability like:

    IWIN: Requires nothing; Instant.

Cast a massive debuff to everyone else in the area effectively making them target dummies with different name plates. Repeated use of this ability will lead to smaller server populations and eventual mergers or end of life for the game client.

Seriously, I would love to see acid blade free, especially since it would allow us to be both more "bursty" and able to sustain more DPS in both PVE and PVP, but I definitely think people saying it should be a buff/ never need to eb cast ect are just being silly. If you want a simple class play BH/CMD ;)

  12. ^^^^ some people have to work. So they go to a FANSITE to read forums.

So anyway, what was your expectation of this game. I know exactly what I was buying beforehand, a WoW clone in space with SW logo on it filled with cut scenes and voiceovers. And i didnt even follow this game that much either. And thats fine, thats exactly what I got.

But obviously you had different expectations, so what were they? Innovative game? where did you hear this? I man you did buy a 6 mo sub (which is pretty much idiotic IMO for any new MMo) so something must of hyped you?

See this is the big thing, I didn't follow this game at all. I even bad mouthed it a good amount because I thought it was gonna be lame. I like star wars but I'm not a huge fan, and BW made some good games but again I wasn't really planning on playing it.

But low an behold here I am and I do enjoy it, I think it has a lot to do with my guild being good and enjoying hanging out with them more then anything else these days since really there's not a ton to do at 50, but I think people that were expecting more from then game are disappointed.

This is why im kinda scared to be too excited for GW2 :(

  13. I'm enjoying pvp with my guild mates. I'm in no hurry to get BM gear, 58valor atm, I figure it will come. I don't kill my self doing dailies any more, if there's a fight in ilum I will do my daily, I always get my WZ daily done but that's cause I'm still having fun in WZs with friends.

I'm trying to get a tatooine OWPVP event going we'll see how that goes.

Truthfully I would love to see some attack-able bases or more objective based OWPVP, they kinda had something but then broke it worse with ilum, I want some kind of objective back in ilum, not just kill each other for no reason other then dailies.

I'm lucky I think in that every teus there is a large battle in ilum so I can finish my weekly/daily that day every time. I wont pick up those boxes...

Also what else is there to play? Tera is crap, Asian grinder/non-interactive kill quests, the combat system is cool, but the grind reminds me to much of wow, and I'm not going to force myself through the crappy content just to play the combat system. Not to mention there's no stealth class, no real pet class, which are the only 2 archetypes I enjoy.

As far as GW2 goes, yeh I'm looking forward to it as well, but I'm really hoping 1.2 comes out blows everyone away and people will play both, cause I do genuinely like this game

  14. Comments in yellow are all the things that scoundrels can do. Shadow or Assassin do not have the burst capacity and the ability to completely control someone into a death spiral that scoundrels have. Shadows/Assassins do have great damage but they don't match the Scoundrel death chain. I routinely have to tell Shadows who partner with me to wait until they hear the shotgun blast before they fill up my targets resolve bar. Shadows and Assassin have nowhere near the CC death chain ability Scoundrels have its called:

-Shoot First 4K+ crit 1 1/2 sec of stun and no resolve + Fletchette Round for 1.6K damage in 6 secs

    -Back Blast 3K+ crit

    -Disappearing act

-Shoot First 4.5K+ crit (thanks 30% armor pen) + 1 1/2 sec of stun no resolve

    -Blaster Whip 1.5K+

-Dirty Kick 4 secs stun 500

-Vital Shot 2K dot 18 secs

    -Sucker Punch 2K+

    -Sucker Punch 2K+

The target can now react after taking up to 12K-16K points of damage from that rotation

-if you got any procs to grant Upper Hand you can do another Sucker Punch for another 2k

    to finish them off.

Assassins/Shadows do great damage, however and let me reiterate this again they don't have the stun lock to death spiral that the scoundrel has. Nor do Shadows or Assassins have the ability to heal, which frankly partnered up with DPS should make it where you hardly ever die if that. Tanking is no where near as useful as being able to heal whenever and whomever you need to heal for huttball.

Gonna have to call BS on your shoot first giving no resolve, Min gives almost a whole resolve bar!

  15. These are the problems with (what we currently know about) Patch 1.2

First, patch 1.2 has the following two "changes" (no details behind these, mind you):

    1. Gear not tied to daily quest completion (i.e. not tied to "Wins")

    2. Penalty for leaving warzones (no other detail behind this)

Here are the flaws with these changes.

    1. If you don't give people a reason to win, then they will farm badges for valor/commendations and will not go for the Warzone Objectives (scoring in huttball, doors in voidstar, turrets in civil war). Every Warzone will just be a big PvP fight. Essentially, you'll be GUTTING Warzones entirely. You might as well just replace all 3 with a circular room where everyone just fights to the death.

    2. If someone wants to leave a warzone, forcing them to stay will not generate a POSITIVE result. It will generate a NEGATIVE result. i.e. they will either farm badges and ignore the objectives (bad), or they will AFK (worse).

I suggest that you do not implement EITHER of these changes in 1.2.

They have already stated 1.2 will also have more medals for objectives added.....

  16. Basically this. Put any selfhealing or healer on your team into equation and expertise is way better. I still wear my 4 rakatapieces as an armormech though, but thats for augments that tip the scale dmgwise and the 2-setbonus.

I don't see where the expertise stat says healing taken is also increased. If your healing your self a ton, or healing others then this may change your numbers. The point is that in this scenario (concealment opertaive) rakata is a better choice even for pvp

  17. Since there is no parsers in this game, I don't see how that's relevent even if it's true. I'm not going to put my faith in another set of mythical formulas if I can't trust my own tooltips, and I cannot parse my own damage so I have no data to work with.

The formulas were datamined from the game files. They weren't made up... Here is a a "basic" guide for how the game mechanics work: http://sithwarrior.com/forums/Thread-SW-TOR-Mechanics-The-Basics

  18. I've done that already by physically comparing the tooltip numbers (no need to theorycraft there unless you don't believe the in game numbers). This doesn't factor in set bonuses because those are too hard to calculate as a single number.

About the tooltip bug for Skill trees

The tooltips of damage and healing abilities in the skill trees do not scale properly with level, but the abilities themselves do. So the formula's for damage and healing abilities below will give you high values than you will see on these tooltips until this bug is fixed. source

  19. Wait, so you want me to do your work for you?

If you're not trying to prove something new, why would you make a categorical statement like "Rakata gear is better for PvP than BM gear! (Math)." You're either trying to prove something or you're just an attention whore.

If you're trying to prove something, you failed.

If you're trying to seek attention, congratulations.

:( Your the one that wanted the all the armor and data in there, why shouldn't you do the work?

Does this help? It should help with damage % numbers a bit

  20. without even checking into your math, even taken all you've said as true, all you've proven is that a mix of battlemaster gear and rakata gear is better than full battlemaster gear.

Congratulations, you've proven what people have been saying since a month ago.

If you're going to make a categorical statement like you did in the title, and include (Math), I expect you to not "make it easy on yourself" by picking and choosing random pieces of battlemaster gear. You didn't even pick all the sets, you left out the helm and took bracers and waist, not to mention the rest.

Therefore, your character would still have ~400 expertise even without those pieces, and we all know expertise hits soft cap at ~10%.

Like I said, congratulation on proving nothing new.

I never tried to prove something new, but your more then welcome to take the time to add in all the other pieces of armor and why not go ahead an throw a few different relics, don't forget the matrix cube, and I'd really like to see the weapon in there as well if you don't mind? Thanks ;)

  21. No, he's twisting the calculations. Watch, I'll give you an example.

I am equipping 1 pvp piece: it has 300 expertise on it and 100 hitpoints.

that means my pvp piece gives me 0% damage, and 106 effective hp.

I now equip the same slot rakata piece: it gives me 1 willpower and 110 hitpoints.

that means my rakata piece gives me 0.1 bonus damage, and 110 effective hp

rakata > pvp? i mean, it gives me an infinite (or undefined, depending on your math) amount more damage, and 4 more effective hp. HMMM WHAT DID I DO WRONG? WHY MIGHT THIS COMPARISON BE REALLY STUPID?

Please point out where I did this? Or do the math yourself it doesn't take long.... I provided all the necessary tools, you can get the stats for the gear at most DB sites, although I used Zam's site http://www.torhead.com/ since swtor-spy is blocked here at work :(
