  1. I just bought the warzone training dummy(I mostly PvP), and I have done a few parses. For my best parse, the dps is bad, at 1537.54(unbuffed). I am badly geared, with only a few pieces of partisan, but I wonder if anyone could offer feedback or suggestions. And I would try some more, but I don't know how to improve it...Here is the parse:http://www.torparse.com/a/327017

    Thanks for the help.

  2. Sorry to bring this thread back from months ago, but is anyone still playing this hybrid with success, with tree changes, and the 5 extra levels? I left the game for months, and am back...does it still work? Thank you.
  3. If you're running gunnery, the spec revolves around grav round, high impact bolt and full auto. Throw in your sticky and fie granades along with your others.

The pushback reduction is useful for grav round but if you spec fully into gunnery for a while, you'll be fine. The pushback reduction is far more useful in pvp than it is in early pve.

Lastly, tank should be switching guard to whoever is taking the most damage. You should be switching your trauma probe to DPS if they start getting hit. otherwise, leave it on the tank and refresh it whenever you have time.

Thanks for the help. Also, is assault viable in pvp or pve?

Edit: I don't think I would play assault anyway, but I am interested in plasma cell....and 2 more questions, does aim help healing, and do commandos have a instant heal?

  4. So, rather recently I rolled a commando, and he has mostly been specced for healing, and is now at level 28. I do healing in warzones and flashpoints, but mainly for leveling I now spec gunnery, and switch to combat med. whenever needed(I have field respec). So, first of all, should I put skill points into the skill tree item that reduces the pushback suffered by abilitites by 70%(when I am specced gunnery)? Would it do me any good in pve, or pvp? Also, could anyone provide me any good leveling builds for both combat medic and gunnery? mine are rather weak, especially the gunnery one...

Another question. In flashpoints, which I have just started doing, should the tank be guarding me, or a damage player? In the last one I did, the tank didn't guard anyone, so what should I tell the tank if that happens? BTW, I have never played tank or healer, before this commando. Thanks for the help.

  5. So I recently rolled a commando, and I am level 19. I like to PvP a lot, but I also do a bunch of Pve. In both areas, I have problems with energy management, but especially in PvP. I hit the target with some attacks, and then I am out of energy, or whatever it's called. I use the one ability "energy clip"? which restores some of the bar, but it has a long cooldown. Will I get abilities to help with this in the future, and can anyone suggest a good rotation to use?

    Thank you for the help.

  6. While you need 5 points to progress to the next row, it doesnt matter if they are spent in a lower row. so i could have 8 in the bottom, 2 in the 2nd row and still progress to the third row. Hope you undewrstand what i mean by that

Gotcha Stealios. But, it seems I am losing a lot in watchman, like the shortened kick and 0min range of leap. And, I cannot put points in plasma blades, which increases burn damage or burn crit damage by 15. I tried two wzs with it, though and did ok, and I will keep trying with it. I will see.

  7. I posted this over a month ago and got laughed at. I am still running it and love it. No intention to swap back to cookie cutter. Mine is ever so slightly different but same premise. It only really works because of OS/PS being off the GCD.

The only Variance is 2 points in Focus to buff Master Strike vs 2 points in Watchguard for utility. Obviously you would be in Juyo form due to burns but the 5 stacks add10% to melee with PS debuffing Armor. Rely on slash as main go to attack after Cauterize. Love having Super speed, Watchman Burn/heals and nailing 5K Anihilator medals ;)

Regularly out DPS Cookie cutter Sents with my spec....

When I plot out my spec with TORhead, it makes me put 5 in a row to progress. I thought this was the rule, yet your spec and others have less than 5 in a row. Did they change this?

  8. I play mostly PvP, with flashpoints now and then, and usually, I use combat or watchman. I have switched a few times. However, I have never tried Focus for PvP. I have heard it is not as great on sents as on guardian, so I would like to hear your opinion. Also, how is it at single target fighting? and utility?

Another thing, on combat spec, I have heard that I should use BR for combat trance, then ps, then ms, then bs, for the auto crit on bs from combat trance. However, I am not able to get off ms immediately after ps if I use BR, so I am not able to get the auto crit on blade storm, unless I get lucky with an Ataru strike. Am I doing something wrong? This is just my starting rotation.

  9. In general, for PvP and PvE, don't break CC until everything else is dead. If the CC'd mob is the only mob left to kill, THEN you can attack it.

Mobs and players that get CC'd are usually the mobs that make life the most difficult for your group. ie Healers that keep you from killing other players, strong mobs that will pound you to death unless then entire group can focus on them, etc. So you NEVER want to break CC and let that mob make your groups life difficult or impossible. It's just one less mob/player to worry about. So why would you want to break CC and then make it something that you DO have to worry about?

Oh no, I know all about not breaking cc on players and mobs. I meant on myself.

  10. Once I had three sentinels on a team including me, but otherwise I am the only one or sometimes there is one other. At least on my server, there are not to many sents/maras, and almost all are juyo, while I am ataru.
  11. Combat spec with the suggested change is pretty standard combat spec, so nothing to add to it.

WIth the watchman I'm wondering if you really feel that the force camo thingy is worth it? I'd spend those 2 points in defensive roll. AoE dmg reduction in pvp is a huge must.

I have points in d. roll.

  12. For your current spec I feel that reduced CD on Zealous Strike is far more important than reduced CD (and extra damage) on Sweep and Cyclone Slash.

Well, that would be 3 less seconds for ZS. Might do that. I dont use cyclone slash, but 20% extra damage with sweep is a lot.

  13. Well, you will be able to get recruit for free, once you ding 50. Plus, bm is quick to get, so yes, you wont be stuck with recruit for long. And, once you get BM, you will really be glad you got the WH weapon. But, what I would do is buy the bm saber, transfers the mods to an orange shell, and trade in the BM shell for a WH saber. That way, you get two great weapons from the start, one of which you will keep past BM.
  14. Here is the PvP spec I used when I ran watchman.

With this, I get extra speed and length on force camo, and I didnt need the extra focus from focused leap, so I specced into Master Focus. I felt I needed only one point in blurred speed, and I put two points in defensive roll for extra survivability.

Here is my current combat spec.

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bcZhrrRRMrdGzZMM.2

With this, I get the stuns, extra speed and some more accuracy. I build more centering and focus with the points in Watchman. I only put two points in steadfast, because I wanted to put an additional point in swelling winds for a nice force sweep. And, I dont think I need the extra focus from Jedi Crusader.

So, there they are. Feel free to comment or try to improve them. Thanks.
