  1. Interesting idea, same could be said for the lower dps of tanking classes to a lesser extent.

Even end game I know that I have real difficulty with Ori dallies, particularly the north and south caves, on my Smuggler Healer main, stuff that is a cake walk with even minimally geared DPS.

But the difference there wasn't even really the loss of damage, it was the loss of useful interrupts.

Giving Corso an interrupt, and a brain to use it with would be just as good. I don't expect to pump out dps as a healer, but I don't like being punished in solo play either.

As for re-speccing to level, how about just scrapping every fp up to end game when you have no tanks or healers and no one is learning how to play them? I know lots of folks don't learn how to play their classes anyway, but a total lack of experience isn't going to help.

  2. Hmm, how about;

when you get killed by another player, outside of warzones, either in an open world location or on a PvP server, you get a mail message or a pop-up from the Bounty Brokers Association asking if you would like to place or increase the bounty on that players head. That way, no trolling allowed.

The only people with Bounties have already chosen their path. The maximum increment of the bounty increase would be based on the level of the killer, and add maybe an inverse multiplyer funded by the BBA to punish the ganking of lowbies. Bad for business don't'cha know. Say, 1k/level/kill as a starting point, payable by the victim (or their next of kin). Less a % fee to the BBA ofc...

Public listings of the top 10 galactic bounties with the 'planet last seen' listed. And a probe to be launched when you get to that planet, for a fee payable to the BBA ofc...

Once the probe is launched the target player CAN NOT leave the planet, unless they pay a fee to the BBA ofc...

A second device, purchased from the BBA, (for a fee ofc,) some sort of short range DNA scanner allows for tracking on the planet.

If the player logs out or quits while being tracked they get flagged with a /coward banner by the BBA (removable for a fee ofc...), their location is instantly reported to all hunters when they log back in and the hunt resumes. And no /quitting when in combat.

Fee is divvied up and payed out according to a ranking similar to the current warzone leaderboard to reward tanks and healers involved in the hunting group.

As for Master/padawan, some sort of retrospective /friend status giving a %bonus XP to the junior member?

    And multiplayer mounts...

  3. Phase 1

Master Craftsmen can purchase a crafting station or otherwise unlock the ability to command any alt or alt's companion to craft any item known to that alt. The item is delivered to the character placing the order.

Such a crafting station could be a Stronghold placeable.

    Phase 2

Master Craftsmen can purchase a storage system or otherwise unlock the ability to store all standard crafting materials in such a way that any alt, remotely commanded as above or not, can access a legacy stockpile without requiring the mats to be held.

This would be a separate system from the Legacy bank and sized in such a way as to be used exclusively for crafting mats.

Possible additions would be the option to additionally store Jawa conquest scrap with the ability to automatically spend that scrap on missing mats in a fashion similar to Fleet points in Starfighter.

Such a storage facility could be a Stronghold placeable.

    Phase 3

Master Craftesmen can purchase a player shop or otherwise unlock the ability to offer their crafting services to customers.

A player store could be designed to provide different levels of service.

    1. Pre crafted goods only.
    2. Crafting service where the customer supplies the mats. Goods are either instantly crafted or posted to the customer on payment of a fee set by the owner, but defaulted to, say 10% of the vendor value.
    3. Crafting services based on the supplies available in the storage system in Phase 2. Goods supplied or posted at a price set by the owner or defaulted at 3x full vendor value.

    Addendum to Phase 2

If 3.3 then the option to BUY mats offered by visiting players upto a set limit or supplied value based on funds allocated by the player.

Such a player shop should be a Stronghold placeable.

Listing a stronghold as a player shop should require a substantial monthly payment for a publicly searchable listing.

    Additional

If player shops are stronghold passed, then the ability to lock doors within a stronghold based on key level access allowing the creation of a public 'shopfront' while maintaining privacy in a back room area.

The idea is to allow some automation of the crafting process for the convenience of the Master Craftsman, (who currently receives no reward beyond title for their dedication) and potential increase the utility of Strongholds and player interaction. That may seem counterintuitive as first glance, but the ability for the customer to seek out the goods they desire, instead or relying on random chance and /1 spamming is, I feel, desirable.

    Flame on.

  4. NOT KEYBOARD BINDING OR MULTI CAST

Like a lot of folks around these parts I'm an ex-WoW player.

Like a lot of folks around these parts I got bored of WoW's constant grinding.

But there are some things I miss.

Now, there are things that Bioware got right (Legacy and Reputation systems for starters) that Blizz missed the boat on, but one thing I miss is /macro.

Is there a good technical reason that the ToR engine wouldn't support the ability to customise buttons? Simple things to start, like a /p [text] when the tank triggers their last stand, or an /ops when combat ressing.

Other commands like %t for emotes (or applying shields, tanking again!) would be cool, but I'll settle for the basics.

I don't want a system where my healing autotargets the lowest health % in range or any automated guff like that that takes away from gameplay and player skill, but /randomcast [mountlist] has got to be worth a few Cartel Coins....

    Flame on.

  5. Who is your target market? F2P players who can't hold enough cash to buy, or preferred who probably don't play regularly enough to earn the cash to buy? Or super rich players who have spent all their dollars on Cartel packs and want to save a dime on sub fees?

Who profits? Cause if its not EA then why would they add a feature that would potentially damage their margins.

As already mentioned, Cartel Packs already give an efficient and effective way for those with too much real money to effectively print unlimited amounts of in game currency. The reason I can think of for even having this idea is you've got 100 Mill in the bank and nothing to spend it on.

I'm sure there is a more balanced and effective way of dealing with the in game economy and hyper-inflation.

  6. WARNING : Vector off topic

Hmm, yeah, keep the faction split, but have a single 'stable' of ships across your legacy. That would certainly make it an option to casually drop into a game rather than have a dedicated night playing on one character just for SF.

    Kudos.

  7. I'd agree, but any half-decent VoIP is a real bandwidth hog. Most games that implement it are either peer-to-peer or have such horrible quality that it may as well not even be a thing. And I have never heard of a MMO doing it. I would estimate that SWTOR VoIP would increase the bandwidth demand on their servers by at least 20x. Pretty much the only reasonable way to do it would be to integrate external VoIP programs into SWTOR's interface to streamline the process of sharing VoIP server info, removing the need to minimize the game to join servers, etc.

However, that approach has other major problems. Most importantly privacy, which goes out the window when EA starts recommending to its players to connect to other peoples' servers, exposing their IP address to the host, and tons of other serious issues. That alone pretty much means it will never happen. Only way around that would be to require VoIP servers to be approved by EA, and holy crap, just thinking about how much work this would require is tiring me out. No way is EA going to actually do it.

Aah, thank you. I had wondered why this wasn't a more common feature and that's the first concise explanation I've read that makes sense.

Pity though. And an integrated mute button would have solved the kiddie abuse problem.

  8. How many times have we seen a Jedi use a blaster? (in the movies, so lore lords can stop it! :) )

Umm, once? And why was it such a big deal? Because Jedi don't use blasters.

As a one off written into a scripted scene, then fine. As a class choice, no.

    And /shiv.

Now, can we please let this die a dignified death?

  9. As I play I find myself wishing I could do certain things in the game. So I guess this is the place to write them down.

I wish I was playing SW Battlefront 2.

A Mixed PvP and Starfighter experience, fly to the enemy command ship, board and fight on foot.

Pandemic had shut down their BF2 online servers, BF3 is still a rumour, but that EA hold the rights to it is almost a given.

IF BF3 is making it to a console release, how cool would it be to make it cross platform where my SWToR character can cue and play directly from the ToR client. Think Eve's Dust 514. For conquest points. Hey, its a suggestion, right?

I wish I was playing SW Battlefront 2. Part 2

Extended (Flashpoint length) PvP instances with multiple objectives. I'm talking WoW's Alterac Valley, the old version with NPC's to fight alongside and loot objectives to upgrade them.

And vehicles. WoW again, for a point of reference think Lich King's Wintergrasp. Or just play BF2. Can you imagine how the original design of Open world PvP on Illum would have been changed if you could have driven the damn tanks? (Yes, there was once and Open world PvP zone on Illum that didn't involve the Gree.)

    And multi player role vehicles, again like Wintergrap, which leads to;

I wish I could fly my personal ship in Starfighter.

Cue as a group of 4, Pilot (Tank), 2 Gunners (DPS), and an Engineer (Healer), and ofc take up 4 slots in the instance.

All the team would have to be gathered on the player ship when the owner (Pilot) cues. Different ships have different physical configurations, so a Smuggler ship has turrets mounted dorsal and ventral, Jedi ship lateral for example. Differing firing arcs for different strategies.

Pilot controls the missile systems / capital cannon as per ship type/equipment.

Engineer has control of shields, energy distribution and can assign droids to repair systems.

DPS have pewpew. Lots of pewpew.

With a whole new player ship equipment panel to reflect the above, craftable/lootable/questable gear and mucho Cartel coins for EA to grub over.

All balanced so that the firepower of 4 solo fighters will drop the hulking big target that just flew in.

    The simple things

    • I wish I could buy a priority transport terminal for my Stronghold.
    • I wish I could buy a player ship transport shuttle for my Stronghold. Just because it would feel right.
    • I wish my /ignore list was Legacy wide. Mine, theirs or both.
    • I wish I could decorate my player ship. A few wall hangings would do. Or replace the bed, hooks locked to type so it doesn't disrupt the functionality of the ship.
    • I wish I could decal my player ship. And then figure out a way for other people to see it. Maybe I could park it on my Stronghold landing pad.
    • I wish I had in game voice chat for groupfinder and PvP. I'm sure the abuse would be choice, but its potentially more useful than not and nothing a 'mute' button couldn't cure.
    • Mini games. Solo and vs. I was so hopeful when I flew to the casino. I was so disappointed when I left.

Night shift, brain fuzzy. That will do for now.

These are just my ideas. Stuff I've found myself thinking about on the grand adventure that has been ToR. There are probably more, but I can't remember them right now. So, take them, run with them, abuse them to your hearts content. But they are just ideas.

    Flame on.

  10. I agree with you on that one. I would personally enjoy (far more) an "Add character to Legacy Friend List" so that whatever alt I am playing on, I can see if that particular character is playing. Even cross-faction.

I'd buy that for a dollar.

    I'd pay 2 for a Legacy to Legacy /ignore.

  11. As mentioned, 1.7 is due to deal with that, we'll see.

Something on Tat would be welcome, maybe 'invading' the zone with NPC spawn points for the controlling faction and 'flags' that need to be captured to bring the area under faction control and vendors only available to the controlling faction. Think Halaa in Nagrand from WoW's BC expansion.

Thinkng of WoW, some interaction with the scenery, al.la. origional Alterac Vally zone with it's support quests and upgradeable NPC guards would make the whole thing make the 'hero' (that's us) feel more like they were leading an army rather than just ghosting through and waiting to be ganked.

  12. no.

How many times have you seen someone genuinely needing an an item by accident and then realizing they made the mistake, ask in group who else needed the item and then trade it with them. Your suggestion would null and void the option to actually do that.

Current ingame 2 hours transfer timer deals with that, but good point.

  13. I thought most gear was bound even if it was won through the greed option. At least this is what I see in HM FP's

    Quite right!

I guess it's more of 2 suggestions then, first is for nerfing ninjas, second is for freeing up vendor trash that is currently BoP and making it usefull. However, it makes the rule universal to the roll that is made and dosen't rely on coding each item...

    My Bad.

  14. If item is BoE;

    Need = Bound

    Greed = BoE

So ninjas can only ever get the base cash value of an item, no GTN for you!

This obviously applies to items that were BoE in the first place, but could be universal in dealing with items that no one want due to party make up or gear inflation allowing for GTN or alting as the winner sees fit.

    so,

    If item is BoP;

    Need = Bound

    Greed = BoE (BoL?)

Does the second bit offend anyone?

  15. BUMP

expressed far more elequently and in more detail than I could have expressed.

    Hello,

as introduction, let's pick up a few posts that explain the general feeling about the game:

    Then :

    Where does that leaves us?

    • Game feels too restricted for F2P players.
    • You seems to be listening to non paying F2P players, more than the subscribers.
    • Content wise the F2P move brought quite nothing.
    • The game is pretty much the same that made hundreds of thousands players quit, apart the story is mostly free, if you accept to have an hindered experience.

Regarding the known schedule for TOR:

    1. Patch 1.6 is about to land.
    2. 9 week later we should get 1.7
    3. Along 1.7, or bit later on, Illum is planned to be released (February-March)
    4. Cathars in months timeframe.
    5. Then way longer after Makeb
    6. And in maybe year(s) later the SSP (super secret project)
    7. In between cartel pack scam and small updates.

=> Long term you are hindering the potential of TOR for bringing the looked after 3 millions players.

    What you should do:

    a) Implement a two way communication between the devs and the players.

As long as you won't have the designers step in the forums and actually interact with players, accepting to be challenged. Yeah it sucks but you are this low now. You won't improve the game.

Hint: in all patches since launch you implemented lots of unwelcome major changes and still pushed them live, thus making obvious for the players their feedback was not listened, nor you were making the game for them.

Also add an in game poll for subscribers, so you'll get real feedback about your planned changes from paying customers that don't lurk the forums.

    b) Rethink your F2P model: have players pay for content, fluffy features and consumables vs tools to fully enjoy the content and lottery scam. Build content so players will happily sub or pay for it, instead of focusing on how to please non subbed players and milk everyone.

Also change the pricing model to very low costs for market items so players feel spoiled.

For example: players that don't spend any $$$ on the cartel packs especially the $10 gear sets would pay way more monthly provided they would be able to buy $1 items/sets.

You'd rather earn $100.000 with 100k happy players spending $1 and spreading the word, than say $10k players spending $10 and 90k saying or thinking it's too expansive.

    c) Hit the quick wins ASAP.

    Among others:

    • Paid legacy names changes
    • Allow players to have separate last names from legacy ones
    • Dual specs
    • Queue to specific WZ
    • Companions skill kits
    • Sale/load key bindings
    • 7d GTN posting
    • Appearance tabs
    • Hide specific gear slots
    • Gear dyes
    • Free mods removal
    • Instant teleporting to space ship & drop the orbital stations
    • In game character customization
    • Full companion customization
    • Pazaak (You own the single player soure code from KOTOR)
    • Chat bubbles (ok not so easy as it kills the FPS)
    • Mouse look toggle for people with wrist issues.

For cartel shop, fluffy features and conveniences dig through these:

    d) Spend time on:

    • PvP balance separated from PvE (vs nerfing one or the other)
    • Removal of stuns fest in PvP (vs adding more and removing the keyboard from the players)
    • World PvP (vs WZ that gets old as repetitive)
    • V.O. story with real choices. (vs boring side story and lack of impact of any story choices)
    • Dark choice not being greedy or a jerk (cf: having the feeling to play Vader, or Palpatine)
    • Free roaming space sim (for an Xpak) (vs a wheelchair on rails without even a brakes nor a gas pedal)

    d) Make it feels like it's SW:

    • No more colored 1.2 gear with changed hues.
    • No more crossing frontiers in a iconic game: (BH with force choke, or Jedi with Flame throwers)
    • Less, much less huge bosses being outnumbered and beaten by now not feeling that heroic anymore players.
    • Iconic places: why Makeb vs all that was possible and asked?

    e) Then dig deeper

    • New species like Wookiees, Ithorians
    • Player housing
    • Day night cycles (on new planets for start)
    • 3d movement (climbing, force jump, grappling hooks, jet packs....)
    • Pod/Swoop racing
    • UI mods & addons
    • Swimming and under water exploration
    • Seamless maps

    e) Dig even more deeper:

    • Adding incentives for socialization and player made events/contents.
    • Implementing non combat based classes.
    • Giving back the galaxy to the players (vs setting everything on rails)

In the end when you make players happy you are increasing your income.

All the above goes a long way in your pay check.

    Think about it ;)

  16. Why do my romantic options have to be limited to my crew anyway?

My smuggler for example has an underdeveloped back story involving multiple (failed) marrages, adopted kids and a general abundance of commitment issues which is seriously under represented in my legacy family options.

My suggestion would be to fire a few new ineractable (?) characters into the game. Not recognised as crew companions they could be independant of any one classes story arc, living their own lives on the different worlds and available with unique story and dialog to anyone who 1) seeks the out and 2) makes the committed effort to make that casual aquaintence into a romantically involved companion (and lover?)

The options there are surely much wider, LGBT and the obvious starters, but story driven long distance relationships, some of which can not ever be 'consumated' by distance, technology, faction or whatever your imagination can handle become a possibility.
