  1. So, I don't have a dark side level 5 character. I do have a light side 5. So, when I use the term "Corruption" please understand that I am referring to the term that flashes above a character's head when they reach dark 5.

Okay, so I was running some diplomacy missions and ran a dark side after reaching 5. It naturally bumped me off of 5 back down to light side level 4. I then ran a light side mission and reached 5 again. When I re-reached 5, I noticed the word "Enlightened" flash above my head. I assume the same holds true with dark side reaching 5 and getting "Corruption."

Why is there not a buff for reaching max 5? They don't have to be large. Like, when you reach light side level 1, you get a 1% boost to xxxx. This increases by 1% for each level of alignment until 5. At 5, you get the 1% which makes you 5% and you get some side bonus, like xxxx to xxxx that is in tandem to the main boost. Same would work for dark side. They could even be different. So dark would be an aggressive boosting buff. Light side would be a light sidey kind of buff.

So, what do you guys think?

Well, they wanted picking light or dark side to be nonrestrictive and not mandatory. What would you do for those people that want to be neutral or just pick options based on their own moral code. Granted 1% isn't a big deal but the min/maxers that are sure to develop would be all gung ho about it.

  2. Atrocious and asinine response to any negativity in any form.

If you don't like the game enough that you want it to succeed through improvement, then **** the forums. People who make complaints on forums are not what kills games.

Excessive nonconstructive post indeed do contribute. It works like this.

Unhappy "ex" player: spends 3 hours a day posting negative stuff on forums.

New player visits forums looking for some help.

New player is bombarded with negative comments.

New player is demoralized and quits.

    Alternatively:

Prospect player reads excessive negative stuff on forums and decides to not purchase.

What does this result in? Loss of income.

What does loss of income result in? Less money invested to improve game.

    Get it?

  3. I think what the BW apologists don't realize is that constructive criticism or even flaming outrage are the things that actually incite changes for the better.

Sitting back and taking it all while gladly forking over your money is the best way to ensure that the game gets worse by the day.

Constructive suggestions make things better. Not opinions presented as facts. Not reposting the same topic over and over to try to demoralize other players. These post are not constructive. They are here to cause trouble. There are many constructive post. Go find one. This isn't one.

  4. I do like storylines. And the VA is great quality. But BioWare can't write a script worth a darn so the efforts of the voice actors are moot. Even Morgan Freeman, Stephen Fry, and Jimmy Stewart couldn't make their dialogue work.

Play a trooper. I enjoyed my class storyline a lot. In fact I stayed up too late sometimes because I wanted to see whats next.

  5. Hey, I'd rather stand up for myself and call someone out on their shoddy product rather than just lying back and taking all the punches. That's kind of what a man does. I apologize if the concept is foreign.

Your concept of being a "man" is beyond funny. A "man" comes to a forum, post anonymously, throws fits of speculation, insults people, and waste time "defending himself" for an online game?

Real "men" have better things to do with their time. Write them a nasty letter, unsubscribe, and move on. I'm sure your wife or girlfriend would enjoy you spending more time with them....oh wait.

  6. How is it worth every cent when you went four hours without it? Hahaha.

Voice acting is a hindrance. Want new content? Gotta bring the VAs in.

Anything voice acting can do, text can do better and cheaper. At least in an MMO.

Voice acting takes resources away from more critical elements of the game.

Some people like storylines. You really shouldn't of bought a BW game if you didn't. Voice acting is great. And clearly the guy has regrets about doing without it for 4 hours before he realized how good it was.

  7. It's easy to save on money when you don't blow it all on voice acting.

Where are your figures of how much voice acting even cost anyway. Anyhow, some of us enjoy the voice acting. I do a lot. That's why I play this game. And oyu fail at realizing the price of real world stuff.

  8. Rift lived up to mine, other than that crappy back story.

    - Amazing Graphics? Yep

    - Good combat? Yep

    - Good customer service? Big time

    - Fixed bugs when they were known? Got ya covered there too

    - Open world? Oh yeah

    - High res graphics? Yes sir

    - AA without having to be modified in the ini file? Yep

Guess what this game doesn't have? All of that! But hey at least they got voice acting.

Gunyru, you are on the top 10 complainers on this forum. If you don't like it you know where the exit is. I enjoy it. Go play rift, bud.

  9. Vivendi said years ago that the initial development cost for WOW was $63 million. There are also reports that seem to point at approx $4 mill a month in upkeep costs as well. Not sure about expansions. Billions? lol no. A lot of money? Oh yeah.

I'll believe the initial value but the $4 million is absolute nonsense. Server upkeep, marketing, equipment upgrades, staff salary, building upkeep, taxes, etc. I find it hard to believe it's less than 4 million.

  10. Your assertion that WoW has had billions poured into it is ridiculous.

And as another poster pointed out, Rift has done better with less money and less time.

    So what's your excuse now?

Really? That's opinion..and false imo. Aren't they down to one heavy server now?

  11. You don't seem to understand. We don't care how WoW was at release. We are comparing the games now because it's what counts.

Your expectations are ridiculous and nothing will ever add up to WoW. Sorry expectations like this will never be realized.

  12. Rift has more going for it than this game, it had less money than SWTOR, and didn't spend nearly as much time in development as this game.

That's a matter of opinion. Which you are entitled to. Personally I played rift when it came out. I hated the class "ingenuity" because there was still really only one true way to be competitive. The random rifts were annoying. The bugs were crazy and it was WoW in new colors. Guess what, I unsubscribed and I forgot about it. Healthy adults do that.

  13. This argument holds no water. If TOR hopes to be successful or competitive to other titles then they must offer an experience that is comparable to those other titles. Besides, TOR has been in development for years and I would venture to say that their budget could be compared to WoW's.

They should be held accountable to 2012 industry standards because this *is* 2012. Not 2004. Or 2003. Or whatever time you think we should hold TOR to.

Your nuts if you think Blizzards over all expense for WoW is comparable to SWTOR. Seriously, WoW was in development for years as well. It had a great initial cost and has invested hundreds, if not billions, of dollars since then.

  14. WoW charges $15 a month. SWTOR charges $15 a month. Direct competitor. Don't care if WoW is 8 years old.

I don't get your point? He was stating that WoW is developed a greater product for less money. Which is not correct in my opinion. WoW Vanilla was bad, every bit as buggy, end game was a wreck during. Guess what they charged; $15. It's industry standard.

It's a pretty fail logic to compare a game that has probably invested billions at that point to a game that invest 100-300 million.

  15. How are my facts off? BioWare had more money and failed to deliver a comparable product to its main competitor.

Because you are comparing a 8 year old game that has invested much more money over the years to this game which is new. oh, and Wow sucks.

  16. Yeah I don{t really get it and is probably in my top 5 of least favorite things.

Someone tried to claim that is was for immersion. That the orbital stations were required so people could land all thier ships and not [clutter[ the world. To that I say nonsense, the world is bigger, I don;t need immersion, zone a landing pad like you do in major cities and in orbital stations on the planet...
