  1. Seeing that you are under a taunt is pretty easy - the purple icon on your debuffs bar - which you should really be enlarging a tad if you take your PvP seriously enough to ask about taunts on the forums.

Often there will be a max of two tanks in a game - they will be the ones with 10k more HP than everyone else most of the time - excluding PvE heroes looking for free relics. Using target markers is a good way to mark healers and tanks up and then you know who to focus.

In reality this is above average tactical behaviour for pugs/regs but is PvP 101 for pre-mades or ranked.

Often going after a tank is a waste anyway, you could probably hurt him more by focussing the healer(s) and forcing him to guard swap (obviously this is thinking along the lines of the tank you are against being half competent) Most pug tanks just spam everything and fail to do over 150k protection and never peel so its moot anyway.

Good question overall, though maybe the way its worded generated the PvP community animosity.

  2. I have no idea what your point is here. The PvP community gets next to NO attention, and you say "REGULAR" a lot, and in caps, so does that mean there is a PvP stream we should tune into to communicate with Bioware that the PvP community is un-aware of? If so please share your insight.

Snave is one of the more popular and entertaining EU streamers. The interview gave nothing more than some dialogue between the Operative class rep - who happens to be a PvP player, and the Community Manager for the game.

Remind us all again what you would rather had happened? The answer would have been nothing in place of this. The community suggested this first, not Snave from what I recall.

  3. My main had the no symbols spelling back when TRE became the destination in server merges, and I have been harbouring rage ever since.

When Bioware did the "release old inactive names" thing a couple of years ago it still didn't come up.

I check EVERY day and have never seen fake Ekul online, ever.

If anyone is in possession of or knows the culprit, I offer cash money credits for never having to use ' again.

    Eku'l. LF Ekul.

  4. We must nerf juggs more....we must reduce them to one move ...just give them slash!!! I suck, am not very good, and rely on the devs to make my gaming experience better! No, wait, meeeee better!

Little suggestion, learn to play your class before you hop on the forums to QQ. The fact of the matter is....the classes are more balanced and the game is more competitive now. People can whine about sorcs, juggs, ops, etc...but....even the devs can't help bads!

I am getting tired of these types of posts. Get over it, move on....

I'm a lifetime Juggernaut, and I approve this post.

ED is over the top, it needs a small reduction in the amount it heals per stack and its in line with other cooldowns.

Have you SEEN how many slows Madness has? Oh and the uncleansable dots?

PLEASE give up on the Yuggernaut hate, its like a nagging wife who is just not going to give up.

  5. Instead of PVP, how about all the people crying about premades can just jump into matches against and with bots like in Timesplitters. (Yeah fkn Timesplitters, what?) By doing this they can then get the instant gratification by crushing their opposition in a never ending cycle of spawns and faux glory.

    INFACT...

If premades in PVP are exploits, then premades in PVE must be too. In which case PVE content needs to be with NPC's on your side too.

    INFACT...

Lets just ALL go and play Timesplitters against bots on our PS2's.

  6. Because people got tired of pugs snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

'lol we're about to reach PNR on civil war? I should leave our off-node and try to cap their node!'

When the stupidity in pugs stop, premades will stop.

    This, so, so, so much.

But then the people complaining about premades have demonstrated they don't understand basic logic, and clearly have no social skills, so I fear this may be in vain.

  7. Why would bolster apply a rating increase to match a PVE gear rating?

That makes absolutely no sense to me, please someone with some insight fill me in on that...

Either way its all massively irrelevant right? - Because in PVP have the best PVP gear. When not in PVP (if people do that?) wear PVE gear if you have any. Either way it seems irrelevant.

  8. My very first thought was that top tier would get a black core, bright red glowing crystal. Black cores look amazing to me.

But since Strongholds will be out by Season 2, I strongly suggest offering a reward that can be placed in the stronghold. Top Tier gets some huge arsed monument for your trophy room. Middle tier gets a small statue. Bottom tier gets a table top sized trophy.

Honestly, if you need to come out with some shiny new epic mount twice a year that's unique, the rewards are going to be a bit of a failure at some point. So I would discourage them sooner than later. The stronghold trophy makes more sense to me since we have this trophy room for precisely this sort of reason.

    I blame this guy.

  9. My price is low, and so are my standards*.

3 years old, one careful owner. Has previously been used for PVE - cleaned thoroughly and full valet after conversion to full time PVP. Every day runner so mileage may increase.

Will node-guard, will complain about it, can taunt, intercede, focus target and will guard-swap/peel in exchange for heals.

Comes with stims, med-packs, adrenals, grenades, off-spec dps function, voice communications feature, full key-binds with added extra mouse turning, and may or may not have republic mirror alt with legacy shells.

No patience for AFK'ers, baddies, ********s and people who cap a node then leave it to go and die horribly elsewhere.

First to see will most likely get told to go away.

Available to view after 8pm BST.

    *standards may not be low.

  10. In short, no. Expertise over all else for pvp.

Having 40k HP in PVE gear in PVP you will die very, very quickly. As long as your old PVP gear has 2018 Expertise, use that. You should be able to replace it with Obroan very quickly.

Don't worry about your stats until you get into Brutalizer gear and even then your skill and ability to comprehend/play the basics matters more :)

  11. I sent 90% of my jug dps gear over to my guardian last night to see if it was any different.

Personally I found there to be less communication repside (I know right?) and I encountered a fairly even w/l ratio over about an hour and a half. That being said I think I lost 2 matches all night on impside, but that was as a tank not dps.

I would say its about the people you play with, but I have basically been solo que for the last 2 weeks and found little difference - time of day is a BIG factor too.

  12. It's just RNG depending who you get on your team and who you get on the opposition.

Yes, there are probably more bads than "goods" but most of the old guard have left the game if not just the server.

The community is damaged because PVP guilds are irrelevant now there is no 8v8. Four man guilds? psh.

Group up with people you know and cross your fingers you get some good pugs. There is NO point raging hard about pugs in normal because its pugs in NORMALS. If your team are morons or just bad ignore it, get on with your own game then tell your story on the forum after, because they sure as hell wont care in the match and raging wont help your performance either.

On the off-chance you get a good team and a decent opposition, enjoy it. I got a half decent rep opposition team in Quesh Huttball last night and yeah we got beaten, but we put up a fight and they made some epic errors. As long as its fun just get on with it.

  13. Before complaining about Jugs, try playing a Marauder... They've been broken since day 1, and nothing has been done to fix their viability for pvp, fps, ops or solo play in terms of survivability.

It feels like the devs were totally wasted when they designed the Marauder.

Jugs really have nothing to complain about.

what day one is this exactly?

  14. At this moment in time, I don't see why anything needs to be done to improve defensive stats, I don't see many PVP tanks complaining at the moment (bads aside, but I think we have covered that).

Guard is probably a bit OP if I am really nit-picking, but then if you are talking normal WZ's it doesn't matter overly, if its ranked, I think it works out ok IF the team you are on and team you are against know what they are doing.

TLDR I think PVP tanks are fine.

  15. I think that's a fair assessment, the key thing really is most of the time if people are attacking the tank then they are attacking the wrong thing. (assuming the tank is good!)

Burning the dps or healer said tank is guarding will hurt the tank if the person under guard is, say wearing pve gear. (a VERY common occurrence in regs on TRE)

To be a PVP tank you have to be three things. A masochist, not obsessed with killing red, and full of HP.

  16. And that post is why you and many others could say the same exact thing, but I'd believe it coming from you. You sir have the ability to not be a phallus, even when speaking from a position of superior knowledge. Good on you.

Maybe there's other factors involved here. I can only speak from my experience fighting against other players in the only remaining fun format in swtor pvp - reg 8 man warzones. And in my experience, I seek and destroy the juggs and pt's who stack endurance. 40khp+? Guess who's getting a flame target marker, and dropping quickly...

None of the tanks who understand (and implement) what L-Randle posted here will appear in a reg warzone anyway, because all 3 of them are too busy doing progression raiding or running ranked arenas. Which means I'll never see them. So the tanks who stack endurance that I come across, aren't worth their weight in spit.

I am a "career" tank. I have played a Juggernaut since launch. I played through mostly PVE until S&V NiM came out, I then switched full time to PVP, having casually played PVP before since launch. I play in a PVP guild, on a PVE server, because the EU PVP server is dead.

My jug is in full Brutalizer, and augmented fully for endurance, with a stim that takes me to a shade over 42k HP. I have the 2pc tank and 2pc dps set bonuses. The reason I say this is because it will show you that I have played one or two Warzones in the last few months, nothing more.

As people (who have clearly got more experience of BEING a PVP tank than you) have said, the difference between augmenting for mitigation stats and augmenting for endurance is not even worth discussing, as mitigation stats will not be effected nor effective enough by the small numbers provided by augments to make a difference to ALL OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DAMAGE PVP OPPONENTS PUT OUT.

    It's that simple.

All I can assume is that the quality of PVP tanks on your server is atrocious, or that you are just talking utter nonsense to troll the OP.

  17. I learnt to bind with a Nostromo/Naga combination about a year ago, having used a nostromo and normal mouse before I went full binds.

What I found is a UI setup that mimics the layout of buttons you use is a great visual indicator to help you build up the muscle memory.

This is a screenie of what my UI looked like whilst learning (ignore pvp rage chat :rak_03: )

  18. It is the case for Juggernaut full PVP tanks.

Mitigation stats (in PVP) for the extra amount you will get for trying to augment in a PVE style manner will not show a worthwhile increase in TTK when compared to Endurance. PVE damage is much more sustained and designed to "match" better with the various forms of mitigation. PVP you will be getting all sorts of damage from all types of sources, Endurance is a balancer for that unpredictable incoming fire.

In PVP where your main job is to be a pain in the arse to everyone else - or in ranked where your job is to neutralise the other tank, guard swap and manage your stuns for hardswaps - Endurance is what is going to make the difference. When your guarded target is getting focussed you are going to take a lot of damage from guard, and endurance is what will give your healer (and your cooldowns) the best chance of keeping you up, mitigation won't help you enough there.

For "normals" its mostly irrelevant, for proper ranked, go endurance - I only seriously play a Juggernaut, as far as other tanks go, you would need to ask them, but the logic should remain roughly similar.

  19. You mean the people too scared/bad to make a group ranked team and do proper competitive pvp?

    Who cares about them?

Translation: the people who are just going to get dominated by the established teams who only que to crush the new teams with this weeks latest fotm.

    ?

Solo que is just for fun and definitely should not be taken seriously, I'll give you that. But don't talk nonsense.

  20. Twelve voidstar in a row? We have voidstar, ACW, hypergate, novare coast, huttball 1, huttball 2, and three different arenas I think? So, in total, that's 9 different maps? So, the probability of getting voidstar twelve times in a row (if it were truly random) would be (1/9)^12 = 1 / 282,429,536,481 (aka one in 282 billion 429 million 536 thousand 481).

Even just throwing all of the arenas into one group, that gives us (1/7)^12 = 1 / 13,841,287,201...one in 13 billion and change.

Going with the 7 map number, getting two in a row would be 1 / 49, three in a row would be 1 / 343.

EDIT: It occurs to me that OP may have not been saying 12 voidstar in a row, but rather that out of 12 pops, most of them were voidstar.

Aren't Huttball 1&2 and all the Arena's classed as "one warzone" each in the matchmaking map selection system?
