  1. I do already, and I don't mean that in the snarky "the mmo stuff sucks" way. I wanted KOTOR III not SWTOR, and so I play this game like it's KOTOR III. I've played mmo's before and I found I just don't get it: I don't like crafting, or grouping, or PVP, or joining a guild, or rp'ing, or whatever the heck Level 50's are doing when they are just standing around loitering in Stormwind...err I mean the Fleet. Whatever games I play (and I play a lot), I play for maybe an hour at a sitting, so any kind of raiding or anything is right out the window. So as you can imagine 99% of all the arguments on these forums are moot for me.

As a single player game, no this isn't as good as KOTOR or Mass Effect, but it is close enough that I want to finish the storylines for all classes. I still get to play and hear as FemShep by playing a female Trooper. I even play the space missions. Would I pay $5 to play offline? Hell, I'd pay $50 for the ability to take a party of 2 or 3 companions with me who can mix roles and be play able to tackle the operations by myself.

Maybe my kind of player was right all along, maybe EA should have just made KOTOR III and not messed with forces they didn't understand.

+1 for OFFLINE PLAY FREE TO THOSE WHO PAID FULL PRICE! I paid $60.00 for this in Dec. 2011 and after 6 months @ $12.99 per. It is not worth paying another dime to play online. I got bored within the first month or so. But I pre paid for 6 months so I played. x( KOTOR III is what this should have been!

  2. + for single player offline. I paid $60.00 Dec. 2011 for this crap and can't play it offline. Bored out of my mind and letting my sub go after 6 months of off and on boredom. I have a few days left. The only thing to do now is to finish the Imp side stories. Which is not worth paying more $ to do at this point for me.

If this was not a STAR WARS game it would have failed day one! $15.00 a month for what!? Repeating end game content is zzzzzzzzzzz once you beat it in HM or NMM.

  3. I paid $60.00 for this repetitive BS. + $12.99 a month x7 in advance! I played SWTOR in solo mode mostly from Dec. 2011 launch to roughly May 2012. A lot of people are total creeps. So just enjoying the game without people's drama ruining it is nice when I need some fun without their BS. I have one main 50, an alt 50, and 6 more mid level alts. Guess what? I still play solo when not raiding end game to this day. (To take a break from ventrilo and people's drama in my ear). It's a nice option for chill time.

If you don't want solo offline mode no one cares. You won't be forced to use it geniuses!

+ 1 for solo offline mode for free to those thought paid $60.00 for the game up front!

  4. You guys are cracking me up with this BS about Sages not putting out enough DPS. The clueless, baseless BS that people put on the net never ceases to amaze.

I have been a Balance sage since launch 2011. If you know how to spec and use your proper rotations for the current situation you will be unstoppable in any mission. I Op raid every week HM's NM's with no issues. Denova, KP, EV, etc. I can burn them down with the best of them (any class or spec). Plus I can CC and AOE like a mad man. xD I even run Group finder HM's everyday with no complaints. Even from the random morons that try to get us all killed with the stupid nub way they try to play. (The non team players). It takes time to find the right gear, and the right balance in spec to be more effective than the average Sage.

If you can't take on any mission on effectivly. Then you are doing something wrong. Whether it be your gear. Your rotations. Situational awareness, etc. etc. etc. You have to know how to play a Sage properly to destroy the enemy. Although I don't think it's hard at all. xD

  5. +1 and about 1.2 million other people that would love the barber shop / plastic surgeon option!

It's 2012! There is no reason why we cannot at the very least have the option to use the current starting pallete of character feature options that we start with when creating a new character. (New options asap would be great too).

It requires a simple game save file. C'mon BW! I regret the options I chose mainly because the character changes slightly from the character creation screen to the actual game play. Which is something a lot of games screw up. I have learned a lot about this game since Dec. 2011. I don't want to delete my lvl 50 decked out main (or alts).

This simple standard feature should have been in game day one!

  6. I'm amazed and yet not surprised at all by the childish people attacking others that are not happy on dead servers. I'm on a light server. (Extra light in th past 8 weeks or so). Rerolling is not an option. I have put a stupid amount of time into all my alts and my main.

I am a huge SW fan! That's why I'm here. I have done nearly everything there is to do on my lvl 50 main. The promise that you will never hear the same dialogue twice is a load of crap! I have 7 alts. I have tried every class Imp/Pub to lvl 20-27 currently. Legacy lvl 22 as of last night. I am subbed on a 6 month plan. If the side missions were different for each class (with dialogue that I have not heard 4 times each side imp/pub) I would be a lot better. I absolutely hate repeating the same basic story 4 times x 2 with minor differences from class to class.

So co-op group play is all I really have left to entertain myself with. (PVP bores me, I'm on a PVE server) So I cannot wait for the free transfers. As long as there are no BS queing just to log in and play. Or any lag. I joined a light server on launch day to avoid all that. And it has worked out. But people are leaving my server in droves! It's a ghost town. On any given planet I'm lucky to see 2-3 people. (Imp/Pub side). The fleet maybe 8 or less for a short time. It's really getting worse daily.

I know other MMo's have recently released. And that doesn't help. But server transfers and a lot more content have to come much sooner then later for this game to survive before it's too late. I want this game to succeed. But I'm bored as hell. And having no one to keep my mind occupied with in groups to break the monotony just makes it worse. Why would I continue to sub if this is the case? I'm sure I will be attacked for this post like many others have been. I could not care less waht those people have to say.

It's a forum. 99% of the time people come here to complain about what needs fixed. Gee what a concept! Get used to it. If you're happy with things. Then it must be nice to be so easily satisfied. I wish I could be. But if I'm paying. I need to be entertained for that hard earned money I'm shelling out. I work for it. Unlike some people that have their mommies pay their bills it seems.

  7. BW - Help us out here please - What are the details around Character Transfers?

    • Can the Guildmaster of a Guild transfer? Does the GUILD move with him/her?
    • Will the GUILD remain intact? IE: No need to buy the million dollar bays again. (Yes I'm assuming we would have to move as well to the same server - IE: No cross server guild)
    • Will Legacy remain intact with my Characters? (IE: I move ALL mine to the same new server)

I've just renewed for 60 days, but that's my last 60 day card I plan on buying if Server Merges or Character Transfers do address the dying off SUB's issue. After that I just can't stand the idea of trying to play with the same 5-10 hardcore players on my server each day.

DITTO on another persons comments around "FEE for Transfer"... I will not pay for something that should be built into the system already for lack of playability due to subscription base or lack of the same.

BW! Tons of people want these answers. Myself, and everyone I know on my dying server included. If I am going to lose legacy or anything I have put so much time into getting. And I can't transfer to the same server as my friends/guildies are on. Then I too, am done.

  8. Please tell me all this lame nerfing is for PVP only. I enjoy PVE solo and with friends. Not having much to do with a saber already sucks as it is for sages/sorc's. Must they take away everything that is cool about being a Jedi!

And BTW: No push/pull powers for Jedi Knights (Guardian/Sentinel)! (At least in PVE) WTH BW!?

  9. This is sad and pathetic. If they do nerf something for consular's. I hope it's only in PVP. Don't ruin my Sage PVE experience just because some PVP noobs can't figure out how to destroy me. As much as I Can kick ***. I get my own *** kicked plenty in PVP. (By all classes). The person on the controls is what counts. QQ!
  10. Lol! Having a dual spec within our advance class will be nice. But 3 specs within that class...silly and not needed. IMO.

Maybe for you. But for the rest of us Sages. Being asked to respec all the damn time for party's, flashpoints, Op's, etc. etc. (to heal) when I am DPS is annoying and time consuming.

I would love to see at the very least a triple spec option. [Heal / Tele DPS / Balance DPS] With presets I can customize for gear sets for each. (Swap on the fly).

It would amazing to also have a dual class spec option as well. (With it's own set of triple spec options as I mentioned above). Sometimes I want to roll as a Shadow for a change or for fun. I only have a main with 3 alts per faction. So this would make this game so much better.

  11. lol There is some hilarious stuff here.

I too hate Theran but being a DPS Sage, that whiney annoying cupcake is all I can use. I used Qyzen for the longest time as a Sage healer. But I respeced and I now like DPS better. I wish I could survive with Zenith or Irresso but no dice. If I could only get a mask to change Theran's voice or to mute him! arrrrgh! Wish I had a wookie! :D

  12. Long, long... time system builder here. I've been running TOR since launch (clean install) on my 64 bit system, with Xp home 32 bit. Wiped my rig out and upgraded to Win 7 home premium 64 bit today.

I expect a decent increase in performance all around. Will check back in as soon as I have tested it thoroughly. Logic says it should at the very least load faster. I was running TOR on all low settings just fine. Hoping to at least get up to medium w/ no FPS drops.

AMD Athlon II 450 Rana x3 core 3.2ghz cpu

    Biostar A880gz Mobo

    8GB G-skill DDR3 1333 (dual channel kit) memory (2x4gb)

Seagate Barracuda 500GB Sata II 6.0GB/s 7200 rpm HDD

    Nvidia Geforce GT 520 (2GB DDR3) PCI express 2.0 x16

    Antec green 650 watt PSU

    Several extra fans

My next upgrade/test will include an AMD Phenom II x4 core 965 3.4Ghz black edition deneb cpu and a SSD (further down the road when SSD's are more stable). No sense getting a AMD FX/Bulldozer cpu until there issues are resolved sadly.

UPDATE: After a few days of hardcore marathon testing. I am loving SWTOR so much more in 64 bit. Maybe some systems just don't show it. But mine sure does. I can run with tree's and grass set on 100% with zero issues (All settings on medium). (I run grass/trees on 14% each though just 2 give my rig a break. lol) Between 15-20% (and above) the difference is negligible. The world is so lush now. I played up to lvl 50 with that set on 0% and all low settings when I was running Xp 32 bit for 3 months.

I'm also seeing much faster load screens, no lag, faster distance draw, etc., etc. Overall SWTOR is now a more enjoyable experience for me.

Oh and my surround sound (same card and speakers) is so much better now with win 7's options to run in higher audio quality settings with the new drivers. The difference is like night and day.

UPDATE 2: Today I upgraded my CPU from a Athlon II x3 core 450 Rana 3.2Ghz to a Phenom II x4 core 965 3.4Ghz. Running on high settings now.

  13. Good points there. I'll check through and see if theres any additional tweaks for them as well.

Also, just to note, the win7 OS i use is a third party completely customised OS install. It doesnt have ANY of the extra junk such as media player, ms paint etc. All the install is, is the base OS. Nothing more.

It's very fast to install, has minimal configuration time, and flys when being used. My current boot time is around 12 secs from Power on to windows desktop. That incudes raid controller POSTing too. The main system Post takes 0.9 seconds according to my benchmark tools.

    Cool thanks. :)

Hey, rather than starting a new post of my own I was wondering if you could add the following services to your disable list.

    Windows Media Receiver service

    Windows Media Center Scheduler Service

Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

And mark them as *only* for people that use their gaming rig solely for playing SWTOR (like me). I use my other PC's for everything else. So more services can be turned off. Or maybe a supplement list to the exsisting one for less confusion?

And also > Windows update < for advanced users that remember to check that manually.

I also set the following to manaul since I check this every so often myself. For anyone out there that has an ATI video card. You may want to research that before changing yours.

    NVIDIA Display Driver Service

NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Driver Service (I don't use 3D, Nor does SWTOR)

    NVIDIA Update Service Daemon

I also disable > Parental Controls < just on principle. lol I am very much an adult. xD

Your OP reminded me to get tweaking. Still running tests for more crap I can disable that will not affect SWTOR. Just upgraded this recently built rig from Xp (32 bit) to Win 7 (64 bit).

  14. if you have win vista or win 7... you can run in windows xp sp 2 or 3 compt mode.. should be a huge fps increase since win 7 and vista both have limitations on the amount of ram they can see on a gpu. Setting to xp compt mode will let the OS see more than 1024m of Ram on the card. =)

Ah, where did you get that from? My rig see's all 4095MB of my video cards DDR3 ram in Win 7. (Nvidia Grforce GT 520 Galaxy) Total avail = 4095MB. Dedicated = 2048MB. My mobo has built in HDMI video/audio but it has a rare disable feature in the bios. A lot them do not. So you end up sharing some system memory anyway with no choice to turn that off.

You may want to check all of your bios settings. Just please be careful in there. Change the wrong setting, and you may not boot. You may also have a video card that has driver issues as well. (You might have old drivers). Or the card does not support Win 7 possibly. Hard to say without any info on your rig.

Heres a thread on a Win 7 forum with a guy having the same issues as you with his video card. http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/11606-3-gb-installed-but-only-1gb-usable-2.html

And heres some great info on Windows (all versions) and memory in general.
