  1. Hi all,

I was plannign on starting another character that has been sat there for a while at level 1, but I have no wish to play through the general quest storylines this time (already have several level 50s!). Does anyone have any experience levelling purely through class story and flashpoints (with the odd WZ thrown in for extra XP) ? I would like to know if this is possible, and if not I'll happily go through the planetary quests again.

    Thanks in advance!

i've buyed the pvp perks and boosts for my lowbie BH and i just do them and class quest, levelling like a boss.

if you do so, i suggest to craft/buy some equip for each planet you have to engagem to not be underleveled while questing :)

  2. Which quest is that? I really don't remember using a rocket launcher (though it's been best part of a year since I did anything other than end-game stuff on my trooper) other than on Ilum.

But yes, not a bad idea. It could even have been used to replace Mortar Volley as an AoE (though it would require changes to the BH).

in the alderaan planet quest i think :)

  3. I was wondering if only the new "rare" items come in the new pack or if there is still a chance of getting the older items too?

I saw a post where someone said they got the white crystal and someone else got the throne from the new packs, but it sounded kind of like unconfirmed "hear say" since no one else in that thread mentioned getting any old items.

Do the old blaster pistols, sniper rifles, assault cannons, etc, drop from the Blockade Runner packs or just the new weapons?

old one are still there, plus the new temporaray cool ones

  4. how to solve:

    • chat with the others and organize
    • don't charge alone
    • learn to wait to have the resolve bar filled before break stun

less QQ more PEW PEW ;)

and remember that this is a game, not WWIII

    ps

chess is a mastermind game, not a facerolling gamer vs gamer

  5. Have read thru most of these and everyone seems to have a variation on what they like to do. I like PvP but want something I can tank with as well without loosing too much DPS.

I've bee toying with this build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500GMudz0MZ0MZfRr0rhzzz.2

It seems to accomplish most of what I want to do and only looses one point in commanding Awe, it's either that or Blade barrier which I'm torn about which is more relevant.

why have you dropped blade barricade?:rak_02:

  6. Doh! Sorry my link to my trees didn't work in my first post.

    Here's the 17/24 build I'm referring to.

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500RMGou0MZZcrrMRhkzM.1

For some reason the "new" TOR has Vigilance over on the right and Focus in the middle.

With the augments we got today, I'm sitting at 27.33 % def chance (which is perma at 30% while fighting with Riposte), 41% Shield chance and 45% Absorption rating. And I'm well aware that those numbers aren't nearly as high or as optimal as they can be for someone who has been running HM Denova to completion for a few weeks/months, but still, running the build above I am tanking HM EC with no problems.

I just don't think, if you're going for the most damage mitigation, that you can beat having Blade Barrier AND Commanding Awe. I don't post a lot here on the forums but I read just about everything in and out of here and I have yet to read something or experience something in game that convinces me otherwise. That's not to say 31 defense builds are terrible. They're great, and I know a few great players who really make it work very, very well and they're all superb tanks for HM EC. I just think they'd be ten times more effective if they were Hybrids. :)

at the moment i'm using this:

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500hMGbu0MZ0zZcGMRRhz0M.1

max dmg reduction, max debuff (accuracy and fast sunder stacks), i had to sacrifice 1 point in swelling winds but i'm okay with it :D

  7. 18/21/2. Only way to do it for EC Hard mode. Full Defense is pathetic now. The AoE damage off Guardian Slash, pathetic and slow as it is, add absolutely no benefit to EC or tanking its bosses. Boss tanking used to be the Defense Guardian's strength. Now it's his weakness, and the damage is smaller than ever. Going Hybrid assures that you don't sacrifice your damage just for a few meager tank talents. Pick up blade barrier, defensive stance, a little blade barricade, and the talents associated with force sweep and dump the rest. Go up the vigil tree to get to overhead slash, skipping any burn and shien form oriented talents. Pick up the two points in sweep from focus. Now sweep is one of your best attacks, with good damage and great threat, even some sunder armor stack help. Full Defense is kinda dead right now. Let it rest in peace.

you drop 1 point of Commanding Awe to fill swelling winds?

isn't it unwise in a tanking prospective?

  8. you have to divide from tanks and "dps in tank stance"

    this is quite different.

i can assure you that i pvp only rarely in the 50 bracket and because of this i only have the recruit set and with it a tanki can manage to do more than 50k protection, and "some" dps if there is no-one to be shielded by "stance-dancing" to shien.

so if you see focus or vigilance guardian who go soreso for the damage reduction, they are no tank.

if you see a full tank doing 0% protection, that guy have to change class....

    my 2 cent ;)

  9. Everyone always thinks their class is underpowered and any nerfs are a grave injustice and a crime against humanity, freedom, and puppies.

    .

everyone will receive nerf and buff, but remember that (absorb+self healing)=Mitigation

    not just absorb ;)

so yes, tankasins are over the other thanks when they absorb, and have spike because of the avoidance (more than the other tanks)

sky isn't falling (for no-one) and who will not enjoy their classes anymore will change (class or game)

  10. I was on the opening area of the Esseles Flashpoint, the passenger lounge. On my way in, I noticed a Pazaak table. Strangely, it was interactable. When I right clicked, instead of unlockong a Codex entry like I expected, I got the words, "This Pazaak Table is not accepting any new players right now". I have a screenshot or two which I might be able to locate after looking through my rather extensive jpeg collection, and I can get a new one on there, if you want proof. But, does anyone think this could mean a Pazaak game is in our future?

been there since launch dude ^_^

  11. i've re a green 49 mod to the blu schematic in the first try

then i re the blue to the purple the first time

    am i soooooo lucky?

yes, as i had 80% possibility to fail, it's not broken, statistics are really evil :rak_02:

  12. I stand corrected! I don't usually have issues holding aggro though and we're in HM EC. I save both my taunts for tank swaps / getting aggro back if I do lose it momentarily.

taunt put you at 110%(melee) or 130%(ranged) threat of the first one in the chart, so only one taunt is needed for tank swap, even if you were afk (and then start hit the mob)

so if you find yourself loosing aggro just do 2 things: taunt on regular basis and ask your dps to use their aggre-lower abiliy:rak_03:

  13. Focused Defense

    Instant

    Cooldown: 45s

Immediately reduces threat by a moderate amount. For 10 seconds, taking damage spends 1 Focus to heal you for 3% of your maximum health and reduce threat by a low amount. This effect cannot occur more than once every second. This ability can be used while stunned or otherwise controlled.

We got this as part of 1.2, apparently to fix the Jedi Knight survivability issues

First it reduces our threat, which is not a good thing at all. Then it reduces our focus generation which is bad too and in exchange for that it heals us a 3% each time we take damage, which isn't what I would call a good trade-off.

Is there something I am not seeing or it is as I suspect completely worthless for a tank?

you could use also as a flat 15%dmg reduction if talented properly

    anyway i don't think is a tank cooldown (:rak_02:), much more a DPS/PVP one :rak_03:
