  1. Awesome, so as a recap, this is my shopping list (in no particular order):

MH Weapon (Eliminator) - 128 AIM, 63 Power, 60 Surge

OH Weapon (Medic) - 128 AIM, 63 Power, 60 Surge (Eliminator one has alacrity instead of surge)

Head (Eliminator) - Power/Alacrity (Medic & Tech are Crit/Alacrity, so I decide Eliminator still better)

    Feet (Eliminator) - Power/Surge

Chest (Eliminator): Eliminator is Crit/Surge, Medic/Tech is Power/Surge

Hands (Medic): Eliminator is Crit/Acc, Medic is Power/Surge

Legs (Eliminator): Eliminator is Crit/Acc, Tech is Power/Acc, Medic is Power/Alacrity *Forced for 4-pc Bonus

    Wrist (Tech) - 128 AIM, 24 Power

    Belt (Tech) - 128 AIM, 24 Power

Ear (Tech) - Power/Surge (Medic is Power/Alacrity, Eliminator is Crit/Surge)

    Implant (Medic) - Power/Surge ( Elim/Tech has Power/Acc, but I'm told that Acc isn't needed?)

This is of course trying to maximize gain from initial purpose.. since most of my comms will be going to buying items before I can go back and buy replacement mods.

  2. Just trying to figure out which pieces of Partisan gear to buy... while I know we're the "Eliminator" items, I don't always like an item's distribution, and would prefer to get the tech or combat medic item if it has better stats.

But, I don't know what the stat priority is! According to Noxxic, it is:

    Expertise > Aim >= Accuracy (105%) > Surge (70%) > Power > Crit (25%) > Alacrity

Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? And Acc of 105%... someone know about how much acc that is?

  3. Mostly but in general the builds are the same and the gear min max rules are the same. Of course you have to replace the pve gear item with the pvp "equivalent"

What is the pvp equivalent? For pve, the 4 pc set bonuses are so good, it's been recommended to use old lvl 50 set gear over lvl 55 non-set gear. Obviously, PVP only has the lvl 55 set bonus, so I'll assume I want that.

So, quick question after that. What's the general stat priority, so that I can decide which of the 5 pieces is my non set piece. Expertise > AIM > ???? How much acc do I need for pvp?

  4. For mods you'll want to spend comms on belt and bracers with high power mods to fill out all your slots.

Quick follow up on this. Since I was shopping for Adept/Initiative 28 Enhancements, I took a look at buyable mods as well, and see the Adept Mod 28A, which is 70 Aim & 26 Power. Comparatively, I see this:

Basic Comm -> Items with mods having 56 Aim & 48 Power, or 70 Aim & 26 Power (which tells me these are lvl 28 Mods). No belt/bracers, so these are from full armor pieces.

    Elite Comm -> Belt/Bracer with Mods having 63 AIM & 52 Power

So basically, in terms of ripping out mods, I'm comparing 70 AIM & 26 Power vs 63 AIM & 52 Power (which is a higher level as well). If I'm right.. I can go ahead and use Adept Mod 28A to begin with, and as I build up more elite comms, buy the bracer/belt to rip out the slightly better 63 AIM/52 Power.

  5. Hmmm I thought basic comms could only buy you artifact gear, not campaign gear. I thought for that you needed classic commendations.

Wow sorry, I think you're right! As I said in my first post, all these currencies and where they come from confuse me, lol. I think I was just thinking about lvl 50 HM though, which drop classic currencies on bosses I believe. And basic comm from doing group finder.

Although, that means classic comms come very slowly :X Time to break out my Rakata pieces, lol.

  6. The crafted implants I'm thinking of are better than anything shy of underworld implants. They're really good. I'll get back to you on actual names.

OK thanks. I looked on GTN last night but didn't see much, so I couldn't figure out what you were referring to.

It's really all about what's most important to you. ...

Yep, I re-read that paragraph a few times last night and figured it out. I actually went ahead and got the Serendipitous Relic made last night.. cost me 1.7 mil including mats & "service fee." I'll do my barrels next, and then worry about 2nd relic.

Yes. you definitely want Initiative 28 and Adept 28 over most of the crappy enhancements you'll get from black market drops. Occasionally you get lucky, but most of the time they're crap.

    Understood.

As far as I know, Dread Guard stuff only drops from HM EC. Basic comms won't get you what you need. Your time would probably be spent doing current 55 ops and building a 4 piece set bonus that way. The two piece is honestly the most important given how much you should be using Tracer missile.

This is the main part I'm looking for clarification on. I actually tried to do two OPs last night (after weekly reset), and both times, the groups faltered after the weekly quest was done (ninja DC's, lost of interest, etc.) So while I would like to build a set via 55 ops, I think that's going to be a longer term goal for me.

In the meantime, based on how good the previous 4-piece set is, basic comms would buy me campaign gear. That was my train of thought in thinking I need to run 50 HM to get basic comms to get campaign gear. Elite comms from 55 HMs buy me black market equivalent items, which doesn't seem to be good, or have a set bonus.

  7. Excellent, thanks for the help. Some follow up questions if you don't mind :)

Ok so first thing that I do when I get a new 55 is look at the level 53 crafted earpieces and implants. Some of these are very good. For arsenal merc you'll find the Artifact Microfilament implants which have accuracy and power will be better than anything short of getting underworld implants so those are very good and you should get them. I forget if the earpiece is also good but look into that as well.

OK, so from memory, I remember I had some lvl 50 Black Hole earpiece, and a Black Market Implant w/ power/surge, and a Arkanian implant w/ power/surge as well (from Czerka FP last week)... I'm not in game now, so I can't compare against the crafted earpiece/implant you're mentioning.

Next are relics. Completing one of the ops in SM will get you the mats needed to have an Arkanian Relic of Serendipitous Assault made, or better yet with 175 basic commendations you can buy the vials of isotope-5 to have yourself an underworld relic made. Make sure you have the quests now so you can just group finder it or jump right in when the inevitable fleet shout happens. Equalizers are cheap and I *think* both ops give you two mass manipulation generators for finishing them on SM, so you can take care of relics right there (I suggest underworld boundless ages as your other relic). Barring that DG relic of boundless ages is pretty good and decently attainable if you have the old crafting mats. Note that this also is a way to get a 72 barrels instead (or a 69 if you don't wanna grind for the Isotope-5s). 66 barrels aren't horrendous though, and it's really a question of what relics you have now. If you already have a DG Relic of Boundless ages and the PVP comms to buy a Partisan or Conqueror's Relic of Serendipitous Assault, then do that and get your 72 barrels first

Wow, this is a lot to digest. I'm going to have to re-read this a couple of times to figure this out :)

Now from there, for enhancements you'll want the crafted Initiative enhancement 28s (accuracy/power) and adept enhancement 28s (power/surge. I think those are adept). For mods you'll want to spend comms on belt and bracers with high power mods to fill out all your slots. You'll also want to consider saving 140 comms and buying the offhand. For armorings I honestly wouldn't replace even campaign armorings with anything except DG or the full 4 piece set bonus from Arkanian. Definitely don't get armorings without a set bonus (except belt/bracers and 1 body piece which you don't need for set bonus).

So I have a lot of random black market pieces from doing HM FPs last week, but many of the mods/enchantments are crit/surge, or crit/alacrity. From what I understand, lower level enhancements/mods (28s), but with the stats I want, will be better than the 30s from black market. That makes sense.

It's an eye opener that the campaign armorings is still better, with it being so "old" by now. Unfortunately, I don't have any, so it sounds like I actually need to run many lvl 50 HMs to get basic comms, so I can buy the full campaign set.

  8. Hi all,

I'm new to the content at 55, and have been trying to get my head around it all.. but it's a lot to digest and trying to keep in mind what gear drops where, what content, what prefixes mean what, what is purchasable by what type of currency, etc. etc. etc.

For the past week, I've just been randomly running FPs and doing some dailies when time permits to just start getting "something." But I don't have infinite play time, so I figured getting some type of direction might be best in terms of maximizing my time.

To start, I'm don't have the time commitment necessary for regular OPs. I have yet to do any of the lvl 55 OPs either, so all of that content is new to me. If I do an OP, it'll likely be in a random group I find while standing around the imperial fleet, which also means it'll likely to be SM to start.

Now, until the day I find a group who'll take me (everyone seems to want people who's an expert in all fights already), I figured I'll at least make the effort to maximize my gear. So, keeping mostly FPs in mind, and understanding that currency takes a while, what should I be looking at in terms of gear?

My first thought was "get all the black market stuff from FP." But, I really have not been a big fan of some of this itemization, nor has it been dropping for me much. Second though is to buy some items w/ basic & elite currency, but elite comes slowly, and I'm not sure what to make of basic. The sticky in this forum even says the 4-pc dread set bonus is excellent... I can't get dread now, but does that mean I keep campaign in the picture, for its 4-pc bonus?

Any general suggestions? There's so much gear and options out there, my head is hurting, lol.

  9. So from other threads I've searched and read on this, reputation items might be bind on pickup, but the reputation gain is bind on legacy.

So, lets say I only had 1 level 55 character doing reputation stuff, and I have 10,000 reputation with a group. Now, I just made another level 55 character who's about to start doing reputation stuff. I get my first reputation item from finishing a daily, and it's +250.

Does that mean my total reputation is now 10,250, while my character's reputation is 250? I'm thinking that's how it works, because while I see the total reputation, there's also a box around my current character reputation it seems.

Taking "Republic 5th Assault Battalion" as an example, my reputation box is "filled" up until Friend, but when I'm on my level 40 character (still leveling), my Rank is labelled as an Outsider.

Now, if the above understanding is true, how does the game handle buying reputation restricted items. Say I run multiple alts to get reputation, and so every alt is "Hero", but the total legacy reputation has reached "legend." Will I be permitted to buy legend items, and if so, who can actually use/buy it?

  10. So many vendors, I can't seem to explore/find all of them. Is there something for me to do with warzone comms before I'm 55?

I'm 51 right now and have long been maxed. I've bought what I wanted for lvl 20/40 PVP gear (largely for companions as I was leveling), but there's no more gear to buy. I've exchanged some for planetary commendations as well, but I'm maxed on those and have bought all the Makeb mods that I want.

Is there some other vendor somewhere that I can do something with these comms that I don't know about yet?

  11. You're okay to do level 50 HM right now since most of the people going into those are 50+ and are pretty well geared. Go upgrade your slottable gear with Makeb mods using your planetary comms. Replace your greens with black hole purples from the 50 HM's, and once you have mostly 58 and 61 purples, or 66 blues, then you should be ready to start doing some 55 HM's. Unless you stuck with your light/dark alignment all of the way to level V, your relics are probably sucktastic, I wouldn't worry about those until you buy some with comms, or get a drop in an instance.

Thanks. To flesh out a little more, I currently have some black hole items already: chest, leg, shield, bracer 2 relics, implant. My other implant & earpiece are lvl 50+ blue/purples I bought off GTN. Weapon is Makeb modded. That leaves helmet, waist, boots, and I have the planetary comms to Makeb mod them, I just haven't gotten around to it.

  12. I just hit 55 through mostly questing, and the new LFG options have recommended minimum average gear rating level.

Is there a screen in game that shows this information to me? Or is it just pulling out my calculator, hoovering my mouse over each item, and averaging the "Rating" that I see on the equipment? For equipment with rating I assume.

Also, while asking this, is there a more generalized way the minimum gear should be? eg mostly black hole, black market, etc. type gear for xyz content

I'm mostly curious as to when I can do Lvl 55 HM FPs, and LVL 55 SM OPs, then HM OPs.

At the moment, most of my gear is black hole or rakata-level (without set bonuses).

  13. I actually use to play SWTOR very heavily in the past, but my memory of progression has waned a little. When I came back from my break, I changed servers to join other friends, and started from scratch. But I'm re-playing everything so far, so nothing has been new, and I'm spacebaring through almost everything.

In light of that, I want to make sure I "unlock" what I need to unlock, but not "waste" too much time doing stuff at max level either.

At this point, I have just finished Belsavis on the Republic side.

If this was a year ago, I would run through Voss & Corellia class story line missions ONLY. This would likely take me to 48 or 49. Then I would go back and unlock Belsavis dailies and Ilum dailies. This would easily have taken me to 50. If not, a day of Belsavis dailies would have finished me off.

But since then, I know Section X has come out, as has Black Hole (Is that what it's called? The daily area in Corellia). And Makeb is out as well (I do have the digital expansion). What's my best course of action now? My overall objectives are:

    * Unlock all dailies that need to be unlocked (eg do associated pre-reqs)

    * Complete full class story line

    * Experience Makeb

    * Understand what is to be experienced with Section X (is this just a daily hub, or are there stories associated to it?)

    * Hit 55 and have completed most of the above, so I don't do too much "XPing" at 55.

Also, I see that people still are running Black Hole dailies, but does anyone do Ilum or Belsavis dailies anymore?

Lastly, just to think ahead a little more. When I'm level 55, say I only have 1 or 2 hours to play in a day, and want to do dailies. What's the general priority, or best bang for the buck, in terms of dailies run? I actually enjoy doing dailies (wow I'm crazy), but I sometimes only get 1-2 hrs, so prefer to get the most out of limited time. And I mean bang for buck in terms of gearing me up, and then letting me buy whatever fun toys might exist (lol).

  14. So to preface, I've just come back from quite some time away from the game. Before I left, I had a lvl 50 healing/sawbones scoundrel that I'm max valor level with on a PVE server. I was also working on a lvl 40 sniper (gunslinger for Imperial) on a PVP server. My friends have just started playing again, but they've all moved to my PVP server. And they're republic. So now I'm making a republic toon on my PVP server. My two friends are a tanking vanguard and DPS commando. But we're on different time zones, so we won't always be playing together.

To be honest, I enjoyed both. If I didn't, I wouldn't be having this dilemma of which advanced class to play. Here are some of my thoughts/concerns:

    Gunslinger

    + I haven't made one yet

+ It looks like with next patch, it will have very good/solid damage potential

+ I have generally always preferred ranged over melee DPS

    - Sniper is technically the imperial equivalent, and I do plan on finishing him eventually

    - DPS queues are always not fun for me, but if I'm playing with my friends, it'll be less of an issue

    Scoundrel

+ Healers find groups more easily

+ My friends are tank & dps, so healing is a natural fit

+ I'm already very well versed in how to play this class

    + I like stealth/sneak

    - I did it already. Do I really want to do it all again?

    - Sometimes I do like to DPS. But when I last played, melee scoundrel DPS sucked.

(Actually to that last point, has scoundrel DPS gotten any "easier." I remember the frustration of always trying to stay behind bosses during OPs.)

And, any other pro/con I haven't considered. Anyone got feedback? To add - it's been about 8 months since I last played, so I've missed any changes since then!

  15. Wow everyone, thanks for the replies. I have already pre-ordered the digital expansion, so the comments around that is definitely helpful.

From everything said, it definitely sounds like the quantity of level 50s will exceed my geared level 50 in the sense of recovering my time investment from leveling. Yet, I'm still attached to my Imperial server as well, partially cause it is a PVP server (was on PVE to begin with cause of friends). And with all the legacy XP boosts, it seems possible to "save" time from a leveling perspective. So, leaning towards original server, but still attached to newer server (I wish paid character transfers were an option!)

Another quick question - as I mentioned, I have white color crystal on my Republic toon. Have they re-offered that color at this point? Via cartel packs or anything?

  16. So I'm coming back after a long time away from the game. I last played before they merged servers, and I had re-rolled onto a more populated server. But now, I can't decide which server to play on since they're all highly populated now.

On one server I have 4 lvl 50 Republic Toons. This was my first server, so I have some small fun things like white lightsabers (and I can't remember if there was anything else limited time). But it was a low pop server with no one doing operations and such, so I just spent my whole time doing dailies. So I have no gear from operations, but lots of daily commendations (not black hole, that didn't exist yet) and ~3 mil in credits.

Then on the other server, I have a lvl 50 Imperial Toon and a lvl 40 Imperial Toon. The level 50 Imperial was the result of me looking for more people to play with. I moved to find a group to do ops with and such, so I'm mostly full rakata with a few columni pieces. I focused mostly on ops, so I didn't bother much with dailies and such, except doing Black Hole everyday I could. (I quit shortly after black home came out though).

I'm attached to all my toons of course. But I'm wondering if I switch back to my republic server (because 4 lvl 50s is quite a bit of a time investment), how difficult would it for me to gear up to match the Imperial toon I'm leaving behind.

    Any comments?

  17. If you buy the perks, you can usually get a full level out of your daily space missions. You can also buy the PVP perks and have your self in WZ's for PVP while doing so but PVP isnt always the fastest way.

"but PVP isnt always the fastest way" - that's sort of what I'm looking for. Which way is faster than others? eg if I was to buy only 1 or 2 of the leveling perks for now (because I need to do more dailies to buy more perks), which one would benefit the most?
