  1. What were some of the changes made in 7.0 not listed in the changelog? One of the most noticeable was that after character creation we no longer see the flyaway text in space.

As stated in the 12.20.21 article Celebrating 10 Years and Looking Forward

We’re also eager to upgrade our visuals elsewhere in SWTOR: starting with Tython, Korriban, Hutta, and Ord Mantell, we’ll be starting a process of upgrading the visual fidelity of our planets to bring them more in line with the amazing work the team has created in recent years.

I'm very interested in what other things have been done, especially the little things like lighting, new or different facial expressions in the opening cutscenes, different designs for trees, etc. may have been done.

  2. I really like the preferred model and often enjoy going back and forth between being subbed and preferred. I have found that end game content is where I really feel the need to subscribe again. For those that enjoy the journey to level 50 preferred has a lot to offer.
  3. I have never had anything against bonus xp, but I have never wanted to be forced to participate in the event with everyone else. Thank you for letting us opt out of the experience with a crystal on the fleet. I would have been happy to pay for the option to opt out with cartel coins, but you were kind enough to give it to us for free. It is hard to describe how wonderful it is to be able to level at a more normal pace rather than zip along at 12xp.

forced xp events was the only thing about the game I did not like, but it was a big issue for me and a lot of other players. Again, thank you for the option to opt out. I am currently looking into ways to opt out as soon as possible after I create a new character.

  4. I just wanted to say that I really like this latest expansion. I certainly enjoyed Rise of the Hutt Cartel, but this one is even better. I feel compelled to complete the class missions for each class so that I can so that I can see from each class perspective.

The planets are beautiful and doing the solo flashpoints are quite a bit of fun too. The leveling feels just right and I don't feel under or overpowered. I can't seem to get over the new skill trees. I liked them before, but this feels so intuitive and more interesting and useful.

I like everything else too, but those are my favorite things about the Shadow of Revan expansion :) I'm really looking forward to the new things coming to swtor in the coming year as discussed in the Producer’s Road Map 2015, especially the new Togruta species!

Anyway, thanks for all your hard work on this game Bioware!

  5. If you want double xp all the time then please start your own thread or join one of the others that have already been started with that exact same request. This thread is about opting out of double xp. The code to do so is simple and even if it were not the code is already in place to implement it in any of a number of ways such as with boosts, buffs, a toggle option in the settings, and others I am sure are out there.

I did read your post several times and it still has the same attitude and makes the assumption that I want to end double xp for everyone or anyone. I suggest you go back and read what you wrote.

For a lot of people double xp is not good and for various reasons. For me it is like having a new account and suddenly there is this event where everyone's character has had their level doubled. What could be wrong with that? Suddenly my level 25 gunslinger is 50 and I can raid and do a little end game content and I can still do all of my class storylines. What could possibly be bad about that? I'm even given some gear to go along with my level 50 character. Hooray!

Except that having a level 50 or 55 character is not why I wanted to play swtor. I wanted to live and experience the majestic journey from 1 to 55 and then do it all over again with another class or gender or species or class. End game content is sorta fun, but not like the journey and now I can't do that. Well, I can, but why would I want to warp through it? It is like taking my book away and giving me the cliff's notes version instead. Isn't that book so much better? No? Well, not to worry, you can have your boring ol' book back next week, but this week everyone has to read the cliff's notes version of whatever they are reading.

That is just one way that double xp is bad for me. Other people have other reasons for not wanting to be a part of double xp.

I am not asking to get rid of it. I'm just saying that while everyone else reads their cliff's notes version I want to keep my boring ol' book because as hard as this is to understand, I like my full length book. Even after having read it 10 times I still like to read it. Why? Because I am still getting something out of it.

  6. In other words, embargoed? Yes. Permanently? Not really, unless I misunderstood what you meant.

I'm pretty sure he meant rereleasing embargoed items in the way the OP was suggesting. As far as the great acquisitions special it was a special and unusual thing. Will it happen again? maybe, but there are no official or expected plans to do so.

"Always" and "never" in english seldom mean "always" and "never." There are usually exceptions.

  7. Thank you for making a positive thread like this one where we can encourage the fans and show the devs what we are most thankful about with swtor.

I love the whole swtor universe, but I'd have to say that for me it is the voice over class stories in the game that I like best. That is what makes the game feel so immersive to me. I love the other voiced missions, both planet based and other, but the class missions are/is tops for me.

  8. Nice thread idea! Here's my top 3:

    1. Old Republic era + Sci-fi setting. (I think I can safely count this as one.)
    2. Story mode
    3. Voice Over

I love fantasy, but I love that swtor is a sci-fi mmo that is story driven.

  9. It sounds nice, but I'd have to agree with the following two quotes:

Even more complicated than letting people "toggle it off."

I have an even simpler solution. Just let people click on the icon there next to their experience bar to toggle it off.

Simple, right? I mean, how hard can it be? I wrote the requirement in one sentence!

    In other news...

That and the mentoring system sounds like it has a much greater potential for problems than any of the other options I have heard mentioned thus far here and in other threads.

  10. Well the 2x XP is over, those of us who enjoy it and take advantage of it will go back to playing normal. Those of you who are looking for an Opt-out or end to 2x XP can have the next several months of playing your prefered way. I really do hope that we get another 2x XP weekend, or week even, around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

That brings up a good point though 2x XP is only every once in a while and when it is here it is only for a short time. The rest of the time is normal game play, so why is it so horrible that those of us who aren't RP'ers or slow progressors get 2x XP once in a while? I mean the Opt-Outers get "game play your way" everyday of the week and fast levelers get gaming our way sporadically or as a special event. Why can't you all let us have our fun our way when the time comes? Why is it that people need to make a big deal out of something that happens every once in a while? I mean lets get some compromise here, maybe think of others and their desire to blast through a toon real quick. Seriously, we have to play the game your way, with slow progression every single day, why is it too much for us to get a few days of quick leveling? You get to play your way everyday, so far this year you have gotten 176 days of normal leveling and we have gotten 12 days of fast leveling. Is 12 days of 2x XP over 6 1/2 months truely too much for you Opt- Outers to give us fast levelers?

Now before you accuse me of not thinking of others because of the position I have taken, please keep in mind I came to this position after trying to put myself in the shoes of a Role Player and someone who wants to level and progress slowly. I spent a good deal of time while leveling my new toon the past 2 days thinking about how things would be for someone using storyline only to level & being 10 - 15 levels above their story. Yeah, that part of 2x XP week sucked for me too and I get where you guys are coming from. With all due respect to you all, we get 2x XP on a rare occasion in comparison to the all day everyday grind of leveling a toon that you folks enjoy.

There is something to be said for the degree of realism gained from being completely overleveled for the storyline though. Realistically, if I am the best bounty hunter out there I really should be able to ghost a foe in a single shot.

I'm not sayin' that the Opt-outers don't have a point, I started grinding KDY and PvP for XP after I realized that lvl 20 on Drummand Kass meant that I wasn't gonna earn XP from my storyline ever again. So I get where you are coming from. I guess what I'm saying is that many of us, who enjoy leveling a new toon quickly would like to "Opt Out" of normal leveling and progression. Since you all get to level at your prefered rate of speed for the cost of your subscription we want to level at our rate of speed simply for paying for our subscription too. And we would really like more than a dozen days spread over 6 1/2 months. (read that as you get to level a toon slowly at no extra cost and we want to also)

With all due respect to all of you Opt-outers complaining that you have gotten 12 days taken away from your 6 and a half months of game time so far in 2014, is kinda petty. Us speed levelers have gotten 176 days taken away from our prefered method of playing...

Ultimately you can't please everyone all the time and the Dev's want leveling to be slow so that more people are subscribed for a longer period of time, so you all win by default on a day to day basis . However, by giving us the occasional 2x XP weekend they keep those of us who want to level quickly satisfied because it creates a special event just for us.

In the end no one wins because the Opt-outers don't want to give us those 12 days because it interferes with how they play everyday and we don't want to have to meander through a story that we have seen once already just so we can get a new toon to end game. We both lose because these conversations will continue and the dev's will continue to ignore threads like this because angering the Opt-outers for 15 - 20 days over a 365 day period keeps the speed levelers happy.

Really? You know better. I mean your whole rant might have some validity (but not much) if anyone here was actually against double xp, but no one is! If there is someone who does not support double xp and is against it I have never seen their post. The title of the thread says it all. I just want to opt out of double xp when it is going on. Feel free to enjoy your 2xp or 10xp. I don't care. I would like to not be forced to participate in it while it is going on. That's it!

For myself who prefers to play at a more leisurely pace and who role plays as this game is geared towards such players, double xp makes the game unplayable while it is going on unless I choose to play a max level character at max legacy level. Can you say the same about playing during regular xp days? Some players actually say the game is unplayable at less than double xp, and only play during double xp events, but I have a hard time taking them seriously.

You are asking me to compromise when you are not willing to compromise at all? What I am asking for does not affect the xp gains you get at all or the frequency of the event. You do not have to put yourself in my shoes to understand. Just recognize that for a number of us we do not like whizzing through everything and getting massive amounts of xp for doing almost nothing. Some of us play differently and what I am asking for is really quite small.

The idea that speed levelers have gotten 176 days of speed leveling taken away from you is just silly. You never had 365 days of 2xp to begin with!

Please go back and reread a few of the older posts.

  11. There's actually a really simple workaround glitch for this.

    1. Enter combat

    2. Go to a "save" distance (that's really optional though)

    3. Close the game while still in combat (and by this I mean alt tabbing and closing it manually)

    4. Log back in

This will disable the double XP feature on this particular character for the current session.

You are my hero!! It works beautifully!! I can play my below 55 characters again!! It is hard to describe how good that tip you gave is :) Thanks again :) :)

  12. I'm sure it isn't as simple to be able to exclude folks from 2x XP as folks in this thread are making it seem. And yes, given the nature & tone of many folks posts it does seem as though many those who want to opt out dislike 2x XP and have an aversion to the other players they "are forced to deal with" during the event.

To be honest I don't understand the desire to lvl a toon slowly anymore. I enjoy watching the story's as well and I like taking my time with my characters, but at the same time I have 9 level 55 toons, I'm a little sick of many of the planets and if I can get off Tatooine, Balomora and Hoth quicker then I'll take it!

That is why I like some of the ideas in this thread, give us a buff we can purchase that gives us 2x XP anytime we want it, I'm all for that one!

Thank you for your honesty and for not being belligerent to my position. I want to clarify on the animosity you may be seeing. Whenever someone proposes the idea of being allowed to opt out of the double xp event they are attacked continually and accused of trying to ruin everyone else's fun. I am told that I am taking away precious development resources from more important aspects of the game like flashpoints and other content and that my opinion does not matter because I am in the minority. I am told that I want to use my "decreased" xp gains to cheat and that I don't want anyone else to have double xp.

All of that is untrue and is an unfair representation of our/my position. I do know of a couple of people that do not think double xp is a good idea at all, but even then I do not see those players demanding an end to double xp events. For me double xp is like taping a piece of paper over my monitor so that only half of the screen is viewable. It makes the game unplayable unless I want to play a max level toon with living legend status. I know that is not easy for someone that loves double xp to understand since we both have different philosophies about how to play, but we can respect each other's position.

It really is refreshing that you are not attacking me and making wild claims about my position. Those continual accusations and attacks on my request by others can get frustrating as I try to be respectful and explain my position and why this matter is important to me.

I am happy about the event and am glad a lot of people are enjoying it, but for me the event poses a rather large problem. I am not going to cancel my account because of it. If the event did become permanent then I really would leave the game permanently and I would be rather sad to leave.

  13. After reading all 27 pages of posts in this thread it seems that the 2x XP haters can be lumped into 2 groups

I hope you do not mean that we actually hate double xp. I support it and as far as I can see it is great for swtor. As you can see from the title of this thread all I want is to not be forced to take part in it. I just don't want to get double xp (I don't even like getting rested xp).

I just don't see why I have to go to a party just because you want to go.

  14. I really really don't like double xp. I can't seem to emphasize that enough. It is the ONLY thing about swtor I am against. Although I will say that double xp events does give me a renewed appreciation for the normal xp we get when double xp is not going on.

Anyway, as I was playing my Living Legend level 55 characters so as not to gain any extra unearned xp and waiting patiently for it to end I was thinking that a way to help would be for swtor to make double xp events a scheduled thing during certain holidays so that it doesn't come as such an unexpected unpleasant surprise to those that do not like double xp. This would also be a benefit to those that do enjoy double xp events since they will be able to better plan for it.

  15. Ah yes, the "opt out of double xp" is back.

How's that working out for you guys?

This is a good news post for those that love double xp and celebrate it.

Supporters and detractors of double xp events shouldn't rain on their parade. Let's be courteous keep comments about opting out of double xp in the Opt-out of DOUBLE XP thread.

  16. I'm not sure what it should be called, but an xp buff that allows you to gain xp at a reduced rate. -20% sounds about right. -25% and no rested xp is what f2p and preferred status players get and is ideal for me, but it seems silly that I should have to unsubscribe in order to get that.
  17. Why are you turning this into a debate, there is nothing to argue about

I'm beginning to think it is not worth discussing with him the merits of my not wanting double xp. The reasons for it and the solutions have been mentioned frequently and well elsewhere, but he can't seem to understand them and so they therefore do not exist.

  18. I think you're incapable of articulating a single tangible, real negative impact of 2xp. Except maybe parroting that other guy who actually was able to do it.

    Where does that leave us?

It leaves you in the self appointed position of judging whether our request to not participate in double xp deserves to be mentioned on the forums. If you don't like it feel free to say so, but there is no need to continually berate those that politely ask for this option.

  19. I think you care more about opposing everyone than the benefits it would bring to all.

Some people really enjoy arguing and debate as opposed to trying to generate ideas and solutions. It is sort of like forum pvp. I understand and respect the mental exercise of that, but I do not believe this thread is the place for that nor is the suggestion box. I do not enjoy debate/arguing/ or pvp either.

  20. Since you can't comprehend how double xp is a burden to those that don't like it then the problem does not exist. Therefore we are the enemy of swtor and must be stopped. I do not believe you care to understand why or how double xp is a burden to those that do not like it. What is worse is that you refuse to acknowledge it. What is worse still is that you attack it because you do not understand it.

As far as double xp buffs becoming a pay to win scenario that is indeed possible. I think the rules around it could be tweaked so that it does not become that way. I'm certainly willing to pay extra money to have decreased xp.
