  1. Ok 1st, Your right. It's good to stick with what you know.

But, wouldn't it also be wise for EA to create a partnership with one of these Voice Communication companies to help them create and manage an integrated VOIP system? Another option would be to have BW or EA indorse one of these companies as the their external VOIP system of choice thus everybody would at least be on the same page as to what VOIP system your using and connection info could be passed around the team quickly and easily.

That's a great idea in my opinion; would be nice if there was a universal VOIP so people would not have to ask each time and download said program like you mentioned. Pick a server then it will merge you into its VOIP sub-server or whatever. Pop into a group or raid, there will be a separate VOIP channel tab.

  2. Bioware is to gaming what Ventrilo/Teamspeak is to voice communication. In respect to Bioware as an influential game developer, wouldn't it be wise for them just to remain in the profession? It could be less of a strain for those who don't have Vent/TS and wish not to install for a built-in in-game VOIP, but why should Bioware commit their resources to this when there exists other VOIP providers which may likely be better?
  3. Some people can't speak good english because english isn't their first language and they don't have to speak it often in work, so they get no practice.

Also, I'm suffering from the fear of the social situations. I actually have had breathing trouble when renting a video just because there was one time once that didn't go as planned. Now, writing is so much easier for me, because I can still write normally even if I would get nervous or even have a little trouble breathing (having a little right now because you might get angry and start kind of "virtually-screaming" at me for disagreeing with you), and no one would know the difference. Also, if I feel too horrible, I can decide not to read the text that you may answer me with. Rude, but possible.

Now, I don't even owm a mic, so I wouldn't talk in this kind of problem. But if people start to sound really negative (shouting at people, swearing, name-calling other people), I'd surely get a lot of breathing trouble. And if someone would start doing that to me directly, I'd most likely have a panic attack.

    Good enough reason for you?

I have speaking trouble. I can communicate well, but not as I used to because of traumatic brain injury. My lungs aren't as strong as it once was and sometimes people have a hard time understanding me. I get discouraged at times so I decided to get a microphone and headphone to try to get into raid communication. Works out well but mostly I just do the listening at the moment. I do wish my speech by mouth was stronger, but I do like the now alternative of writing--a form of art, in my opinion.

  4. I just cant understand why after all this time that Bioware has not instituted a voice program in order to communicate in groups and operation groups. I understand there are programs such as Ventrilo,Mumble,Teamspeak, etc... It just would seem that it would be more effective to have a system in game to use.

I bring this up as many times I will have somone in a group that says they dont want to download that program, or they have one of the programs and dont want to download another.

In conclusion I would say that the addition of a voice program in game may lead to more commuinication and success rate in both PVE and PVP of this game.

IIRC, WOW has in-game voice chat but the majority of players opted out and used third-party.

  5. You can, yes. But it's not supported within the SWTOR settings for a gamepad, but you can download Pinnacle or any similar keyboard to gamepad software and it'll let you use the 360 controller or any controller within any game [ at least Pinnacle does for me ].

I'm handicapped so there are certain games I use a gamepad to play games instead of keyboard/mouse, and third-party voice control software, like Tazti, to perform actions.

  6. I frequently farm the World Boss in Taris when I'm tired of running HMs/Ops. Ninety-nine percent of the time I announce in /1 chat that the WB is up and I would join an Ops group once someone starts it [ I no longer start Ops group because it's too stressful to keep everyone in check as to not attack WB while others are not here yet ] as a healer. I wait couple of minutes and if there are no responses, which surprisingly has happened before, I solo it. If there's another instance, I announce it again and apply the same measures.

If BW does nothing to resolve the issue with 50s taking on WBs, then I suppose what I'm doing is a good method to ensure fairness. Then again, it all depends on the person playing.

  7. Thing is, the majority often overrules the minority when running HMs. I have run many HMs pretty easily as a Sage, and during those times I usually gave the tank lead [ if I know none of the other three have never run said HM, I take lead ] with all the responsibility of skipping or not. I remember very clearly one DPS got furious and kept asking not to skip BOI HM. I said it was up to tank. Tank responded by skipping. DPS then left.

I usually ask in beginning if they want to skip bosses as this saves considerable time. If not, then I'm fine with it.

  8. False Emperor is considered hard? I always thought it was one of the easier FPs.

I'd rank FE first or second in terms of being the hardest. I ran with my guild, all fresh 50s, FE first since we thought it'd be the easiest HM but we wiped in a blink of an eye on first boss. I'm all prepared now but I do gasp when there are new 50s; had a tank with 14k HP and DPS around 15K HP from my recollection. Took longer than usual.

  9. I need to ask a question about MMO's. If I wanted to start a business, where customers come in with their game logub information and play with their friends. While also having food and drinks outside the computer area. Would I need a special license from the game developers to do this.:D:D

Google 'PC Bang in Korea.' Bang means room in Korean and not BANG as Westerners would initially see it as. PC Bang are very popular.

  10. I had a PUG guy I grouped with for a couple of heroics. We ran HM later on, and he as a tank Need on gears not for his class. I whispered him the expected rules and he said he needed it for his companions. He didn't do that for the remaining of the HM.

It's just a game as OP had said earlier. I don't cry in a corner or enter Hulk stage. To be honest, I tire of telling PUGs what's expected if they are all new to rolling or new to a specific HM since most times I usually take lead even as a Sage healer [PUG or pre-group, latter mostly]. I am worn out typing in HMs that I now do not care if someone Need on everything.

I will have a LOL time when F2P debuts.

  11. No keyboard for me as well. I have limited mobility in my arms so I click a lot using my mouse including moving. I'm a Sage healer and when I run HM I usually don't use my DPS abilities because I get tired. Example is when we're focused on downing a boss and heals are very minimal, I still only heal and not do any DPS. I know if I did the boss would go down quicker but my style is unorthodox. Haven't been yelled at so far.
  12. Besides my Battlemaster relics/lightsaber, my other gear are mostly Blackhole/Rakata/Columi. I'm near rank 40 but have taken a hiatus from PvP because I enjoyed PvE more in a PvE server. Decided to resume PvP and got put-down and asked to leave because of my gear. I remained proactive and just stayed, healing [sage healer] 300k+ in all three matches and I was at the top of the other healers.

Questions, am I in the wrong for not wearing Recruit gear? I have found my PvE gear do great heals in my opinion. Any healers or other class not wear any PvP gear?

  13. You're welcome.

You can also miss out on loot if you're too far away and the group opens the chest without you.

Not sure what the radius is, but I missed looting a chest once because I was bioanalysing a dead mob.

Really annoyed me as I could have really used that gear.

Brain cramp then bioanalysing! What's next? :)

  14. Seems to apply to all BoP items, not just gear.

Got an armormech schematic last sunday, brain cramp caused me to roll on it with a cybertech toon.

Thankfully the timer is game time, not real time. So I was able to trade it to a guildie who could actually use it, by NOT logging in till I caught someone on to trade with a few days later.

    Thanks JacksonMo.

If a group member is outside the instance at the time it was looted, and therefore was not eligible to loot it, you can't trade it to him, even if he was grouped with you.

I think this existed since launch; I remember everyone saying not to pick up loot because someone was outside of instance as a result of wiping. Thanks Eternalnight.
