Ive been saying for several years that skills in objective PvP had been degrading & would continue without proper dev focus. So many Ranked players would try & shut me down by saying āitās only regs, who cares & stop QQ, no one caresā.Ā
Its why Iād been pushing BioWare to revamp how the medal system & rewards worked. And also why Iāve been pushing Bioware for several years to make lowbies relevant again.Ā
Sure BioWare have started to make some changes to the medal system, but itās not enough to correct the situation after several years of neglect. They also need to connect rewards to the medals too so that there is more incentive to get better. IMO, the medal system still has a lot of work to go before itās encouraging players to work as a team & improve skills.Ā
If you really want to see player skills improve over the long term, the best way is to give new players a place to learn & incentives to do so.That means more dev focus on PvP support systems like making lowbies relevant again, rewards for medals, gearing & matchmaking. And less on making bling for seasons/CM. Also creating a fair system for people to play solo or with friends. Getting rid of 5-8 man size premades in WZās would be an easy start.Ā

Donāt get rid of premades, this wonāt solve a thing Trix, stop repeating yourself.
I queue as solo and in 8 man premade.
solo pops quick because thereās a system in place that will try to q solo players together.
over the last 6 months nothing but pvp.
average solo pop time ~ 2-5mins
average premade pop time ~ 10-20 mins and normally only against other premades, like 90% the time.
they need better incentives for pvp, balancing and stop removing content.

Thatās why itās good to come up against the premades, they stay alive more to focus them down and get tunnel vision cos they think, āhey, Iām playing meta with 3 friends on voice comms, I canāt be losing this!ā Then they tunnel me and team gets chance to cap, pass, score, kill healer in arena etcā¦
It really is fun baiting them and then they are scratching their head at the end wondering how they lost and didnāt get highest numbers in the game lol

The biggest issue is that damage is just too high and 6.0 doubled our DPS with amazing defenses being introduced including force bound to hide or bandaid it. Now those are gone and the overwhelming amount of DPS we gained and the new DPS options we gained in the last patch push it even further.Ā
Doing near-top parse in PvP on your spec meant it was good, if you played more AoE-focused you'd surpass it in good games.
That margin was much smaller then, now it's much larger.
I don't quite want to comb through my VODs to find the several matches I had where both teams had two decent healers and DPS would cap out around 60-75k DPS team-wide before the enemy team would be playing constant respawn simulator. With large groups, you can now have a tank and healer with 4 DPS, which 4 DPS can meet this damage thresh hold in good games, in games where there isn't proper support or good players the damage requirement to keep them on respawn is much lower. It creates a toxic situation. I talked about this before in this thread I think even.I wouldnāt say 65-70k dps is actually doable in a real game, a setup maybe if you get two premades and get them to stack, Iāve seen nerds taking this way too seriously.
Iām just talking about as a casual solo qār that focuses on objectives and winning primarily and managed to cheese some good numbers against the premade bots just farming numbers and harassing noobs for an epeen extension they desperately require irlĀ

Differences in skill do not qualify a game mode as broken, it just highlights the magnitude of the games overarching scope.
People donāt focus on one thing, and premades donāt form up to grief you, whatās the point in that?
Ive had premades in mids try to focus me on my merc healer only to realise that they canāt actually kill me and lose the match.
in fact, I often play her as itās fun to just carry pug teams and feel the sweats frustrations building when they canāt even kill me, Iām not kidding, I reckon I die once or twice over 5 games

Yeah I like to play solo against 8 man ranked premades, itās a challenge!
hardly ever see it nowadays though.
most premades also are just the dregs of a good pvp scene still playing and know each other from time played, so not like they queue together lol

As Iāve said before, you wonāt get better in pvp until Nostrum Dolus spawncamp you with their 8man ranked group as solo qāer šš

just outta curiosity as I canāt find these records, not sure how good 23k dps is for lethality op, but itās the best Iāve seen in the game since coming back a year ago by some margin, I have seen 20k dps, but also Iām pretty sure I can get much higher still with better uptime and less objective play

If you get a premade as solo q, just farm them, normally they are gash anyway, I tend to get my best numbers when farming them and win because they mostly wonāt go for objectives.
In short, just play, donāt cry and make sure to type āezā in say when you win š

According to many theory crafters when it does those numbers, its a bug of showing other dot damage all included in the .second of the hit. So unless you have StarParse to prove it, it is always doubtful that was a single hit.

I've had decent hits on all my marauders, this is my main tho from when Republic was actually active so I have biochem with reusable attack adrenal.
I made sure to line up all my procs on a sorc, force crush, furious strike, obliterate, frenzy, furious power and reusable attack adrenal to proc something pretty tasty.
Gear is full minmaxed 306, high crit build for extra dmg on multiplier, so only 1st alacrity cutoff point.
All amps 2.5 armor pen.
Kinda knew it was gonna hurt the poor bugger as I was like, "oh, no def cd's?" Upon glancing at the enemy buff tray.
Probably could hit harder for sure, just never really seemed to be so loaded into 1 ability for fury, the burst always seemed more evenly spread over a variety of attacks.
Oh well, was just something I thought I'd ask, and gtz on the other big hits guys!!

Why you say this? Seems a bit of a selfish response, surely having a larger population overall in any game mode is more healthy for the game and will encourage better competition.

I did 75 pvp today, got huttball, my team didn't even bother witb objectives and we lost 6-0 pretty quick.
I was healing so got fucused quite s lot and figured, oh well, my team must be dmg farming...

Apply dots asap, reflect maul spam, taunt to reduce dmg, use cc, def cooldowns, mad dash to break stealth avoid big hits, push to reset leap etc...

I took over 5 million damage in a warzone where the top dpser did 3 million (I was at 2.25 mill) and died 8 times because for whatever reason everyone decides to focus me (probably a vigi guardian thing).

But you guys want to know why I don't pvp like I used to, that's why. I still managed to score our only goal, winning us the match because the other team was doing nothing but number farming, and somehow got no MVP votes, and someone PM me afterword to tell me I sucked.

Is there more queuing mid and max level brackets for unranked pvp? I seem to go up against the same premades over and over and get arenas 75% of the time with long queues. Does it get better?

Max level it opens up a bit, thereās simply no reward for levelling via pvp so thatās why the brackets seem empty
