  1. Records are all updated; the ones submitted here since last update were fine, but a few on the Discord are in purgatory for now due to submission errors or missing info (if you submitted there, that might be relevant to you).

Again, I want to remind everyone that not every submission needs multiple screenshots (consult the rules to learn which ones do). If they do, however, be sure to bundle them into one album--meaning one hyperlink, so I have just one thing to link to both here and on Google.

Remember, if you have any questions or comments (and the answer isn't in the OP), hit me up.

  2. Mirrielles 16 medals didn't make it? that was for a DOm match.

I wasn't referring to that record specifically--I haven't added that one yet cos it's in one album with eight other games. Ditto everything else in that post.

For the dq'd medals submissions, I was referring to this:

Rhea-Hawk- F-T6 Rycer- Eclipse Squadron - The Ebon Hawk 14 medals

    ...and this:

    Gaa'ra - F-T6 Rycer- Eclipse Squadron - The Ebon Hawk 9 medals

The former doesn't cut it cos it's only 14 medals in Dom and not 16+, and the latter one doesn't cut it cos it's in a TDM.

Ill do my best to break up the albums wasn't sure how much room I had in imugur figured it was easier to fit it all in one package.

Here's the thing, if you only require one screenshot for full info regarding the record/game in question, then just link to that specific image. Albums only really come into play when you need 2 or more screenshots to make a record "count", for example:

    • a game with two records to be submitted; one for dps (shown on the scoreboard), and one for sh% (shown on the ship-specific performance tab)
    • a solo kills record where you needed to go to the performance or earnings tabs to prove you were indeed in one ship the entire match, cos it didn't show up in the chat window/event log

  3. Had a nice match half an hour ago. Concussions ftw.

    Domination

    Caravix - FT-6 Pike - T3-M4 - 20 Kills

    Added.

    @OP

I accidently swapped the modes here. Of course, this was TDM. I would appreciate to see those numbers added.

You said yourself those shots are from a game that occurred "some months ago". As pointed out by Flusssaeure in post #15--and acknowledged by you in the following reply--this is a thread only taking submissions for games occurring after the 5.2.2 patch dropped, meaning games that took place after 13 June 2017 (Rule 1).

The records will not be added.

  4. Some more for the pile

    [...]

Gaa'ra, please do me a solid and put all those matches in separate Imgur albums. There's like eight individual games in there. Multi-shot Imgur albums are fine, but if you're going to make an album, make one per game. If I'm going to link to an album in the books or in the posts, I need it to lead to the game in question, and only the game in question.

Also a couple of your medals submissions didn't make it; one was in a TDM (again, I don't accept subs for TDM medals, they're too easy), and one was in a Dom, but didn't meet the 16 medal minimum (Rule 7a).

  5. After much waiting, I've rolled out the first major update to the records. Up top, you'll find the old-style posted records present in their freshened up form, along with access to the new Main GSF Record Books, split by game mode, in post #2. Any future updates to the thread will be to both of these record-keeping sources in parallel. As stated earlier, the main books have all available--and qualifying--records, split up by overall game mode, then ship class, then ship type. For the old forum posts, they are as they were in the past: 1 individual per category, for a top 5 per category (allowing for ties).

Let me know how everything looks. If you see a mistake, feel free to scream at me, either here or on Discord (@plasticx). Also let me know if you still derive use from the old forum post-style entries. If not, I can ditch those and focus on just the spreadsheets.

Regarding the current records: if the books, for as vast as they are, look a little empty, well...they are. Of the 327 unique categories (I may have miscounted, sue me) available, roughly 250 lack even 1 submission. This is what we have so far. Over the first month of this thread's existence, I had a little over 100 records sent my way. Compare that to the rolling out of the original 2.8 thread three years ago, during which almost 420 records were sent in the first 30 days. Interpret that as you like.

After discussion with several people looking to post, I feel it's necessary to point out that this is a new record book. The old records are just that: old. If you feel that a game shouldn't be submitted due to its not holding up to the records of the 2.8 thread, ask yourself one question: is this the 2.8 thread?

You know the answer to that.

If your hangup is, "this doesn't hold up to my personal standards," well...you can submit it anyway, and break it later. Your choice.

Shifting gears, I've made a slight adjustment to the submission syntax, which you'll no doubt see in the posts and the books: earlier, I had you submitting records on alts as writing your alt out first, then putting your main name in parentheses. I've reversed that: you'll now be entering your Main Name first, followed by your Alt in parentheses. The OP has been amended to reflect this. One thing I noticed in putting the books together over the past few weeks was how cluttered it looked in the names column when alt names went first. It also looked a bit disingenuous--if you went by just what was outside the parentheses, it looked like the individual record categories were populated by more individual pilots than actually were there. This fixes that.

As for future updates, now that the main books are out, updates can roll out as posts come in.

That's all I have for you now. Carry on.

  6. First post!

    Skyesora-srw (Skyesora) - Flashfire - <Shadowlands Reconnaissance Wing> - Jedi Covenant - 18 medals - http://imgur.com/a/of5XL

    Couple things here.

First off, the record you're submitting for (i.e. 18 medals) and the link to the proof needs to be one hyperlink.

So it should look something like this:

    Skyesora-srw (Skyesora) - Flashfire (Unverified) - <Shadowlands Reconnaissance Wing> - Jedi Covenant - 18 medals

This way, the record can simply be clicked to lead to the Imgur album.

As an aside (bolding cos it's meant for everybody), multi-image links like Imgur or Photobucket or Dropbox albums are perfectly acceptable in submissions when you want to provide full match info, but don't want to clog up the post with multiple links for one record. Just make sure the album contains only the images related to the record in question--I'm not interested in sifting through pictures of your dogs or your trip to Cabo San Lucas just so I can see your DPS record, or whatever.

Secondly, I've marked your Flashfire as unverified cos there's nothing in the two screenshots provided that proves that you were in a Flashfire the entirety of the match (or at least the entirety of the time you earned those 18 unique medals). Refer to Rule 5.2 to see why: you showed the Overall Performance tab, and not, say, the ship requisition message from the event log in chat (Rule 5.1). For medals specifically, the requisition window is the best way to show start-to-finish play in a single ship (cos you gain req by simply having game time pass when in a ship, regardless of points/damage/etc.). You can also show it in the ship-specific Earnings tab--if total req from that window matches total req at the top of the scoresheet, then you're golden. I've added this in to clarify--Rule 5.3 and 7a. For what it's worth, I can reasonably say with confidence that you were in a Flashfire the whole game--I just can't prove it. That's the issue. If you have anything else from that match that might show clearly that your Flashfire req equalled total match req, I'll be happy to reconsider.

The record's still good, it'll just qualify for the Overall Domination books, not anything Ship Class- or Ship Type-related.

Okey dokey lets kick it off with records that will quickly get Eclipsed hehe:p

    werds

Alright, same thing here as with Skye's post. Links to screenshots and the records themselves need to be a single unit, so...

Gaa'ra - GSS-3 Mangler - Eclipse Squadron - The Ebon Hawk 7 Solo Kills Proof

    ...needs to be:

    Gaa'ra - GSS-3 Mangler - Eclipse Squadron - The Ebon Hawk - 7 Solo Kills

No need to add in a second link after the record line itself that says "Proof". Just make the record section of the line a link.

    Gaa'ra - GSS-3 Mangler - Eclipse Squadron - The Ebon Hawk 10 Medals Proof

This was a TDM. Medals are only tracked for Domination. Max TDM medal count is 12, which isn't supremely difficult to reach (just fly a drone bomber in an offensive manner).

Also this may not count but ill try don't have the ships performance sadly.

Gaa'ra - GSS-3 Mangler - Eclipse Squadron - The Ebon Hawk 64% Shooting accuracy Proof

Yeah, this one's a no-go cos there are no shot totals I can look at. Sorry.

and because I'm a doofus who didn't get a screen of the dps for the above this one will have to cover that

    Rhea-Hawkl - GSS-3 Mangler - Eclipse Squadron - The Ebon Hawk 98.83 DPS Proof

That 98.83 DPS isn't yours, it's Rorge's. You're hovering over Rorge's DPS in this shot, not yours.

Since you did more damage, I would actually expect your DPS to have been higher in this game (104.57, assuming equal flight time), but in the absence of an actual showing of your DPS from the scoresheet--or a Ship Performance tab showing game time so I can calculate it--I can't just assume you did 104.57 DPS. I need to see it.

  7. To preempt the asking of certain questions that may be on your minds:

I've eliminated the category of objective points. I will not be accepting submissions for those. I've replaced it with shooting percentage. Consider it a "tick less, shoot more" approach.

The top 20/25 style Sheet will debut once I get enough submissions. For now, I'm giving it a while for you lot to submit your records. Happy hunting.

If you have questions or issues, feel free to ask here or on the Discord.

  10. Galactic Starfighter Records (5.2.2+) v1.0

    (Last Updated: 06/16/17)

Greetings. I'm plasticx, and I'm your new GSF recordkeeper. I was a GSF pilot and streamer from 2014 to 2016, and am currently a technical assistant with Despon's "GSF School" YouTube channel, as well as moderator of the GSF Community Discord Server. I'll be handling single-game record submissions starting from patch 5.2.2 (released 13 June 2017) on out.

This new version of the single-game GSF Records thread has undergone some changes, so before submitting a record, I highly suggest (i.e. require) you read this OP in its entirety, taking special note of the "Rules & Changes" section.

For previous single-game record threads, head here:

Galactic Starfighter Records (2.8+) v3.0 (by Despon)

    Galactic Starfighter Records (2.8+) v2.0 (by Xi’ao)

Galactic Starfighter Records (2.8+) v1.0 (by Camels)

Galactic Starfighter Records (2.7+) (by Camels)

The original Starfighter Records (by paowee)

For the currently running overall stats (100 game, 1000 game, etc.) thread, check here:

Galactic Starfighter Stats Records (by Drakolich)

    Introduction:

After three years (to the day!) of keeping GSF records in the "2.8" era of Galactic Starfighter, the record books were rebooted. The old threads are still in their place and can still be accessed, but we're cleaning the slate for new records to be submitted.

Why, you ask? First, a bit of history....

What precipitated the previous change in single-game recordkeeping was the "Spoils of War" patch, officially SWTOR v2.8, released on 10 June 2014. The changes that patch brought to GSF were very important; the Type 3 Gunship (the Imperial "Jurgoran" and Republic "Condor") was introduced, along with the Type 3 Bomber (the Imperial "Decimus" and Republic "Sledgehammer"). This, in addition to the nerfing of the Damage Overcharge buff in TDM (from a 3x damage multiplier down to the 2x it is today), prompted a turning of the page.

What's led to this new iteration of the records thread is not so seismic a shift on its own, but more of a recognition of the many minor changes the game and its community have undergone since then. With 5.2.2 specifically, players will now be starting out with a minimum of four ships (five if you get the T1 Gunship as a Nov 2013 sub reward), versus the two or three prior. When one adds in lower costs for ships, components, and upgrades, now is without question the easiest time to gain requisition and "gear up" in GSF history.

While GSF, from a mechanical and in-game standpoint, is largely as it was three years ago, the incentives to play, the rewards given, the shifting of the faces in the community, and the tone and tenor of matches now have changed enough to warrant the opportunity for a new generation of pilots to make their mark via single-game records. For the old pilots kicking around, it's business as usual--push yourself as best you can, and share the results.

Thanks to the curators of this thread who came before me, setting a standard of excellence, and thanks to the pilots with whom I’ve consulted to help make this new record thread a reality. Your advice has been invaluable.

    17.06.16

Now, for the changes to the thread itself....

For this new version of the records thread, we'll be running things a bit differently. In addition to the normal "Top 5" spoiler-boxed entries you'll find here on the thread, we'll have an open Google Sheet running with a larger entry set, and more record categories. Initially, as records are submitted, they will be added to both the thread and the Sheet.

For the forum entries, things remain mostly as they were: one entry per person per category. If you have a record that bests an old record of yours, the older entry gets booted off the forums, replaced with the newer entry. For the Google Sheet, however, both records can stay. Depending on frequency of entries, we’ll try to shoot for a top 20 or 25 per record.

    Rules & Changes:

    1. This records thread will only accept single-game entries from SWTOR patch 5.2.2 onwards (i.e. games AFTER 13 June 2017).

    2. Only the player's best record in a category will be accepted for the Forum Listing. Here, no player can hold two or more records in the same record category, even on different characters. The Forum Listing will display a Top 5 of unique player entries per category. Included in the Forum Listing are Overall/Game Type Records, and Ship Class Records by Game Type.

    3. Any submissions will be considered for both the Forum Listing and the main Record Book. For issues regarding multiple submissions for a record on the forum listing, see Rule 1. For the record book (via Google Sheets) however, multiple records per person per category can be submitted and potentially accepted. The Record Book will display a larger number of entries (top 20 or 25, depending on record and frequency of submission), including multiple entries per person per category. For records entered into the main Book, there will be a maximum of five (5) entries per person per category. Included in the Record Book are Overall/Game Type Records, Ship Class Records by Game Type, and Ship Type Records by Game Type.

    4. For Overall Record (TDM and Domination) submissions, keep in mind that with the exception of shooting percentage (non ship-specific shooting percentage records will not be accepted), the number of ships flown during the match in question does not matter. The only thing that matters is the overall statistics of the player. Put simply, you can fly all five ships on your bar, and have it count to toward any Overall non shooting record.

    5. For Ship-Specific Record submissions, please submit the end-of-match scoreboard AND one of the following three things that prove you were in the ship you are submitting under for the duration of the match:

    • Ship requisition in the chat window that matches the total for earned requisition
    • The Performance tab of the ship(s) or ship type flown (Overall Performance tab is not acceptable)
    • The Earnings tab of the ship(s) or ship type flown (Overall Earnings tab is not acceptable)
    • 0 deaths accrued (Overall Performance tab is acceptable here for shooting percentage records)

If the above criteria is not met, these record(s) will only enter (at best) the Overall/Game Type Records.

6a. For shooting percentage records, there will be submission minimums that must be cleared for an entry to be considered. These are bars of performance meant to prevent "gamed" submissions (e.g. cap ship turret farming, "missiles only" games, et al.) from making the cut.

Please note, if you submit a record that does not meet the minimum requirements, I will ignore it.

If you ask me about why said entry is not being entered into the record book, I will ignore it.

Please observe the rules. If you have a question, consult this rule set. If you still have a question, ask.

6b. For shooting percentage records, only "manual-weapon" shots will be considered toward the submission minimum. A manual-weapon is defined as any weapon that does not have a lock-and-fire mechanic. This includes any blasters, railguns, and Rocket Pods.

Any form of missile, torpedo, mine, drone, or the Sabotage Probe is not considered a manual weapon.

Shot minimums will be "Blasters Fired + Railguns Fired" and must meet or exceed the minimum.

6c. Due to the nature of shooting percentage being artificially inflated via lock-on weapons (which are automatically counted as hits, even if the missile/torpedo/probe is evaded via a lock-break), records in which the submitting pilot fired lock-ons on their ship even once will be put in a separate category from records in which lock-ons were not used at all.

Any form of missile, torpedo, or the Sabotage Probe is considered a lock-on weapon.

Mines and drones (as released from bombers and some scouts) are not considered lock-on weapons.

Shooting percentage will have a "Lock-On Assisted" category for records with lock-ons used, and a “No Lock-Ons” category for records with no lock-ons used.

6d. The shooting percentage minimums are as follows:

    • Gunship, Team Deathmatch: 40 manual-weapon shots
    • Scout, Team Deathmatch: 90 manual-weapon shots
    • Strike Fighter, Team Deathmatch: 85 manual-weapon shots
    • Bomber, Team Deathmatch: 50 manual-weapon shots
    • Gunship, Domination: 40 manual-weapon shots + 15 points (kills + assists)
    • Scout, Domination: 90 manual-weapon shots
    • Strike Fighter, Domination: 85 manual-weapon shots + 10 points (kills + assists)
    • Bomber, Domination: 50 manual-weapon shots + 10 points (kills + assists)

6e. To submit a shooting percentage record, be sure to have a screenshot of the ship you are submitting for a record within the “Performance” tab of the game in question, showing:

There should be no need to scroll down after getting to that part of the Performance tab.

7a. When submitting records for Medals earned in a Domination match, there will be a flat 16 medal minimum imposed, regardless of ship class or type. When submitting Medals earned for a specific ship flown, please prove that the ship in question was flown for the entirety of the match (see Rule 5). Failure to do so will disqualify the submission for ship class records, and at best only make the Overall/Game Type list. Outside of 0 death games, please use the requisition chat window (Rule 5.1) or the ship-specific Earnings tab (5.3) to show start-to-finish ship status for the match.

7b. The list of available medals in GSF can be found at this webpage. Please note that in that link, the "Savior" 4k damage repaired medal is missing from the list, but does count toward GSF medals.

    8. Any ties (even in 5th place) will hold the same slot in the absence of time-based information. Meaning, if two people notched 20 kills in one match, and are therefore tied for, say, second, they both are considered to hold second place. If both submissions have a battle duration shown with it (via another screenshot with the "Performance" tab open or via video evidence), then ties will be broken as follows:

For raw "counting stats" records (points, kills, assists, damage, solo kills, kill streak, medals), the tiebreaker will be awarded to the record with the shorter (by time) match. If match time is also equal, the tiebreaker will be awarded to the record with the better point difference (points - deaths).

For DPS (which is a "rate" statistic that will be rounded to the second decimal point), the tiebreaker will be awarded to the record with the longer (by time) match. If match time is also equal, the tiebreaker will be awarded to the record with the higher number of points.

For shooting percentage (which is a "rate" statistic that will be rounded to the second decimal point), the tiebreaker will be awarded to the record with the higher number of shots taken. If shots taken is also equal, the tiebreaker will be awarded to the record with the higher shot rate (I will divide the manual shot total into the match duration).

In the interest of defending your position in the record order against tiebreakers, submitting a screenshot/video of the ship-specific (or Overall, if multiple ships were flown) Performance Tab is highly recommended. In the case of ties, the submission with information regarding match duration, et al. will automatically be awarded the tiebreaker over the submission without said attributes.

    9. Submissions can made via screenshot or video. For screenshots, please make sure to hover over the relevant part of the scoreboard (or navigate to the Performance tab for the ship in question) to show the record-setting stat in question, if necessary. For example, for Solo Kills or Kill Streak, hover over your kill count on the scoreboard. For DPS, hover over your total damage on the scoreboard. For shooting percentage, refer to Rule 6e.

For video, be sure to hover over (or navigate to) the necessary parts of the scoreboard and/or Performance tab whilst recording. For single-game videos, providing a rough timestamp of the scoreboard window is not necessary. For multi-game videos, however, please provide a rough timestamp of where to look.

    10. When providing a supplementary screenshot/video to show extra information, the act of including said material in the official format of the submission (as seen under "Format" below) is not necessary. Simply including a link to the supplementary material in question is sufficient.

    Format:

For cases of records on alts, put your main name first, followed by your alt name in parentheses.

    <Main Character (Alt Name)> - <Ship Name*> - <Guild Name*> - <Server Name> - <Record you want entered with screenshot/video link**>

    *=if applicable

**=if a multi-game video link, please provide a rough timestamp of the scoreboard appearance

    Example: Mahoney - SGS-45 Quarrel - Invictus - T3-M4 - 175,312 damage

Do NOT include multiple records on the same line.

Example of what NOT to do:

    Mahoney - SGS-45 Quarrel - Invictus - T3-M4 - 175,312 damage, 15 Solo Kills

    Correct example:

    Mahoney - SGS-45 Quarrel - Invictus - T3-M4 - 175,312 damage

    Mahoney - SGS-45 Quarrel - Invictus - T3-M4 - 15 Solo Kills

  11. I've seen this sort of thing happen before with what was definitely an 8 vs 8 wargame. One side had someone drop. Mikaboshi took the pop and it put him on the wrong side. (At least, I'm pretty sure that's what happened. I may be misremembering which of us took the backfill, but I do remember the result.) One side had 7, the other side had 9. I'm inclined to think it's a bug, but I don't know how to replicate it. I've only seen it happen once.

No, you're good. 8v8 Impside wargame on the Hawk, Kuat TDM. February or so, right before I left. We're both solo queueing; you get the pop, I don't. Someone on your team leaves the match, and matchmaker sends me a backfill pop, I take it, and it puts me on the team that already had 8. So it goes from 8v8, to 7v8, to 7v9. I also stole a south DO from you. And you said you hate me. I remember. I remember.

For what it's worth, I've encountered this bug/quirk/whatever thrice--the Hawk incident I've just recounted, once on the Bastion in a cross-faction Kuat Dom (that time my team ended up with the 7), and once recently on the Harbinger to Drako and I (Shipyards Dom I think), though I'm quite sure that it was just long enough ago that it's in neither of our stream archives.

I might actually be bored enough to go fishing for screenshots. Stay tuned.

  12. P.S Buff Photon Torpedos with 15k KM range.

Just to clear up the issue--and this is a minor nitpick--but photon torpedoes can have a 15km blast radius, making it difficult for warships to fire them at close engagement ranges.

The effective firing range of a photon torpedo can be around 300,000km, exhibited during an incident involving the USS Phoenix and the Enterprise-D (Nebula and Galaxy-class vessels, respectively) along the Cardassian border in 2367 (TNG S04E12, "The Wounded").
