  1. This is blanket statement for beating any class... but if you really want to be good at pvp with your sage, learn every other class you can come up against, how they play, strengths, weaknesses, etc. I find the best way of doing this (other than rolling alts or playing on your friends accounts) is watching youtube videos of people playing other classes. I bet your success rate will go up significantly if you actually do this.

Good tips, and funny enough I rolled a Vanguard alt and he is level 20 now and I'm starting to learn the abilities but I really won't be keyed in till I can pvp in the 40's where I have much more of my abilities and can see the trees and how they're used.

I just feel like they're difficult to kite and they can still do alot of damage to us from far a decent range and when they want the fight to come to them all they have to do is grapple hook.

  2. I give you the part where a couple moments are enough for a melee to severely injure us. Especially true for Marauders/Sents and for our semi-melee PT/vanguard friends.

Nevertheless, it's a matter of your spec. Full Madness root will give you an advantage. I'm playing both, a WH Sorc and WH Marauder and trust me, I can kite melee with my Sorc AND good Sorcs can kite my Marauder. To a degree where it's just a waste of time and I bash them when they are busy shooting at someone else (but that leads to a different story...)

I play full madness as well, and I have a friend on the imp side who is a very good DPS WH assasin and he always focuses me in WZ's lets just say it's friendly and competitive competition, I will beat him probably 3-4 out of 10 times and those 3 or 4 times is because of my superior positioning, LOS, and Kiting. However he is a stealth class and if he initiates the fight he is winning that fight 9 out of ten times.

It depends on your spec and the one's you're trying to kite of course. Without the root from full madness you'll have a much harder time. Against a Carnage Marauder you'll have a hard time anyway.

Yes that tree is built to kill us.

People seem to forget that kiting doesn't mean you have to outrace them all the time. Yeah, so that chaser slowed you. Do the same and stay out of melee range. You just have to know when he can charge again and save KB or Force Speed for it.

I would love to trade my aoe knockback for forcepush, I still don't understand why our class which is pretty much Masters of the Force doesn't have this ability I think it would be LOADS better for kiting.

I'll admit we lack enough pressure to make that chaser give up quickly, so this could take a while. And now guess what?! We're not alone in WZs. It's very often enough to keep them off of you for a couple seconds to kite them into a direction where someone interferes. Oh and god forbid you're actually bringing buddies who will help you all the time after you called for it on vent ;)

With my server pop so small and our guild is pretty much the dominant republic guild alot of people have lost interest and don't communicate well with each other....Which is our problem but it's mostly pug's and well you should know how difficult it is to try and kite and type HELP ME!!!! lol

Now add some situational awareness and you're good to go. Just remember that nasty melee who just bashed you and always (I mean ALWAYS) watch out for him. Even while pwning people you'll have to be aware if said bad boy is coming back for you ... ALL THE TIME.

At the end of the day I do love my madness sage and I do think it requires the most strategy in pvp and is the least forgiving of mistakes out of all the classes.

  3. Ehrm... so you think you should have all what the mdps have and be ranged? *laugh*

No I think I should have more CC than them and better mobility. Since I'm a ranged class with light armor and no defensive cool downs besides my bubble. Since it takes me alot longer for my dots to tickle you to death and is much more difficult for me to kill you. A sage will die 10/10 times in a 1v1 with either FL or Force Stun on Cooldown. we need literally every single CD up to even have a chance and if the fight starts out in melee range your going to win more likely than not, While if the fight starts at range and I still initiate you still have a very good chance to win unless I time all my CD's perfectly and kite to perfection, While if you get into melee range even for a short while you can easily burst my health down, Which isn't very difficult to do which you already admitted. Unless you play a sage your not really going to understand our frustrations. Also I would gladly trade force wave for force push I'm confused as why a class that is a master of using the force as a weapon doesn't have one of the most iconic force powers in Star Wars.... I would much rather have this than an aoe knock back and it would help create alot more distance and help us with our kiting.

  4. If you're doing lots of 1v1's and 2v2's in wz's, as a Sorc, you've just admitted to being a bad player, because that isn't the strength of a Sorc.

Oh so when I get knocked off the ramps in Huttball and into two players below I'm bad? Or when I get pulled by an Sin/Powertech into the middle of a group of marauders I'm doing that by choice right? We get forced into these things kiting and good mobility/los only gets you so far....

Here is another way to look at it.

Lets assume Assassin dominates single target, while a Sage dominates AOE/CC. Therefore, Assassin vs Sage 1v1, Assassin wins.

However, in 8v8, when the Sages can lock down their opponents in the same area, while all 8 of them AOE all 8 locked down Assassins, the Sages will win.

Yeah like all 8 players are going to stay in one area at the same time.. Were going to Aoe/CC to death an entire team of assasins, I hardly say our Aoe/CC is dominating by any means, Especially when your comparing it to Assasins which have every bit of CC we do so I'm confused on how we dominate in those aspects? I would gladly trade a force sweep for Force Crush. Face it 1v1 and 2v2's 3v3's happen alot more than 8v8. Especially since literally all but one wz is either capturing a node, or planting a bomb. Which guess what you can control 2 Nodes with all 8 players on one node.

Play to strengths, not to away from them. And don't complain when another class plays to it's strengths, and you don't.

I play to my strengths but how can I kill a class that has more tools than me and all the CC/Abilities that I have. I sever force assasin, they slow me, I FL guess what they FL me to, I force speed away, guess who's force speeding after me, I force stun and get my distance back guess what they have it to, oh wait let me try and slow them then sever force, oh lets have them pull me right to them. Oh yeah did I forget they get a free amount of time with there cloak/resist to bang on us. Oh they're starting to lose the fight lets have them vanish real quick run LOS me and have them meditate to full health or sap me and meditate to full health....

  5. +8x Valor Sorcerer with x5 WH, been playing this toon since the game started with all the frustration it brings, I like shooting lightning out of my hands!

I decided to play an alt and that alt is a Powertech hybrid -25 in tanking tree- and I can not believe what I am experiencing!

Leveling experience was so much better than Sorcerer.

PvP leveling experience so much better than Sorcerer.

Total PvP experience is so much better than Sorcerer.

    Reasons:

As a Sorcerer the main strategy is run away from every one if you want to live assuming the other guy is in same level gear.

As a hybrid Powertech I may not have the +8k crits of a 6xx power / +3x% crit/75% Surge Pyro but the mitigation and control with 5 interrupts, charge and the passive 4% + 4% damage reduction is amazing!

    I can actually kill stuff!

Exactly why I'm re rolling a vanguard, Sage is a support class at the end of the day, a sage is only as good as his team... I like pving on my sage but it is very difficult to kite even with the madness spec and be able to last long enough to survive an attack from a PT Pyro, Marauder, Assasin... Sage is the most difficult class to PvP with in this game hands down.

  6. Don't forget when Horde would attack Westfall and draw out 50's from Stormwind. Those were fun, cuz the guards weren't elite lvl 50 and you could kill the vendors and quest givers. It was hilarous to see the flightmaster dead, so people would fly in, but couldn't leave lmao... The good old days.. hahaha

Even the elite attacks on Stormwind it'self rocked hard core. The guild Total War, attacked Stormwind all the time, killed the elite guards and go into town, killing the bank clerks, vendors, quest givers everything... it was too funny.

    What its all about! :rak_04:

  7. Agreed.

We need mode wpvp hotspots and make the fleets attackable by the opposing faction

QFT and add Faction Leaders in each Fleet. Also Make dailys coincide with eachother for both factions like the old Burning Crusade dailys. Don't force us into a giant area with only a small node of land like ilum being the only means of getting things done have it be a bigger area then the middle ilum node but make the overall map size of Ilum alot smaller.

  8. And that would be fine, if cross-server battlegrounds were something they could easily put out.

Given the state of Bioware's QA team, I wouldn't be surprised if queuing for cross-server warzones deleted your character from their database after the patch went live.

They could incorporate a mechanic where you que for a cross server warzone so that you could always play even when your server is dead or it is not peak hours on the WestCoast but is on the East Coast or you could que with your server.

  9. I just don't see why people would request a feature that only fixes one problem when there are alternative solutions that fix it and many others. Is there anyone who would actually enjoy cross-server warzones when compared to same-server warzones if the queue times were equal?

During the first weeks of SWTOR queue times were under a minute. Merge servers to the point where populations are near the populations they were a month or so after release and you should have no problems getting into a warzone when you want to.

So again, I understand not wanting to be on a dead server waiting an hour to queue against the same 8 people over and over, but cross-server warzones is a terrible solution to that. Server merges make much more sense.

I would be happy if they incorporated cross server warzones temporarily until there is server merges because lets face it bioware is losing subs quickly on the already dead servers and the longer it takes to get these servers up and running the more subs there going to lose. It's a short term solution to a big problem everyone would be happy with the PvP aspect and I'm guessing a decent amount of players would come back.

  10. So anymore all I see is people saying they want Bioware to introduce cross-server PvP, like it's a good thing. I know I can't be the only one who will stop PvPing entirely if this comes about.

Now I understand you are on a low-pop realm with no sense of community. You wait hours for enough people to get online to pop a warzone and that isn't cool. But is cross-server warzones the answer to that problem? Or are server mergers? Is cross-server warzones going to suddenly make that fleet look any less barren? Are cross-server warzones going to get you in to see a new 4-man instance? Are cross-server warzones going to allow your guild to recruit players to see operation bosses?

Of course not. Server merges is the real answer to all those problems. What cross-server warzones will do is give people the anonymity to act like ******es to one another while simultaneously killing the sense of rivalry that emerges from being pitted against recognizable faces that same-server warzones offer.

You can say that the concept of servers is an arbitrary dividing of the player-base, and you are right... but having a system where some parts of the game ignore server boundaries while others don't is terrible. If a server can handle having everyone on one giant mega-server I'd be in favor of that over cross-server warzone queues. Cross-server battlegrounds in WoW is still one of the worst things to happen to the game's pvp. It fast tracks you into "just another face in the crowd" and achievements become even more meaningless than they already are.

What I would like to hear is one solid argument for why cross-server warzones should be implemented instead of server-merges on the smaller populated realms.

That's cool and all I hope your enjoying your standard server... While I'm over here on Thendrys Noori where there is two decent sized level 50 guilds... We PvP against the same Conqueror/War Hero Imp nerds everyday and we get facerolled everyday, half our guild has alts on the imp side which doesn't help the problem at all. Yes I know some of the imps on our server but no I would gladly trade the familiarity of getting facerolled to pvping against completely new players and not knowing who your going to face and there skill level.

  11. Title should have been: "SWTOR Open World PvP? Dark Age of Camelot had it right!"

No other game has had functional world pvp before or since - nor will any game ever have it again without the 3 faction model.

I never played DAOC....Couldn't compare it to that.

  12. Actually wow pvp still fails, I always enjoy griefing players with my mage/druid who try to camp on my alt dead body or always ganks me. Even when they run to their outpost or town I still can gank them with stealth and insane burst dmg and also thanks to flying mounts/transform I can make a fast get away or just hovering at the dead body while the NPCs can't reach me.

All they can do is roll same faction as me and rage at me. When that happens I just hit the report button and get him suspended for a week.

    True story

I duno about the rest but I find this very abusive even I enjoyed it

You remind me of my friend in wow I used to gank with.

  13. This would also be alleviated if they had a 64bit client, instead of running 2 exe's to circumvent the limitations of a 32 bit client. Probably less crashing too.

To the OP, wow, you are a douchebag. You're that guy that sits in his computer that hates his life and wants to make others miserable as you are.

There is a reason why they kill world pvp in successful MMO's you are why. I like to pvp, but you take it to a whole new level of low. I've seen your kind for years, and there's a reason why the games you play that support that never really make headline news. Your niche is so small.

Hahahaha and you're one of the kids who got camped repeatedly and YELLED at his monitor because he was forced to log......AKA Carebear. Re Roll PVE server you crybaby. I'm pretty sure WoW made some headlines though? Yes I do get enjoyment out of trolling people and ganking people it's not real life, if you want it to be your little fantasy world where you rp with your other friends good for you I'm not going to call you a fkn lame nerd though and say you probably meet up for dungeons and dragons battles in your local park at midnight with your friends.

  14. Yeah lets NERF our main filling attack that's our bread and butter for the most viable 1v1 PvP tree. Let's have it so all other casts (Project/Disturbance) hit like one armed droopy eyed children .... OH WAIT THEY ALREADY DO. FIB is the only cast we have that provides any real decent burst at all and I'm in full BM and it's never critted over 3.5 k with Relics/Adrenals...We already take the longest amount of time to kill anything in a freaking 1v1 what the fck do you want a fcking 2 min window to kill me before my dot's tickle you to death? I swear to god if you nerf my class anymore I'm re rolling Mara!
  15. SS and TM were nothing more than an area that had the right attributes. Mobs were low level and not prohibitive to 60s, gaurds were appropriately leveled for the area (at that time, before all gaurds were turned into God mode, Roid raging, PvP killers), and there was the right amount of geographical area between SS and TM. It was in no way designed for that specifically. Believe me if you rolled a Shaman before the change where they just basically handed you your totem and said, "go have a blast!" Or any leveling toon that could not avoid that area as part of your class' progression you would know what the pre-BGs, BG of Hillsbrad added. Me personally, I had to go to TM for my water totem, in my early 20s, took about a half dozen friends running interference and about 4 hours on foot. You know what else getting that water totem was though, a 4 hour sweaty palmed, nerve shattering, absolute BLAST!

Now we all fly here, kill a few mobs there turn it in, yay -_- I did it... Or que for an 8 v 8 where one side usually ROFLstomps the other, collect our comms, eventually get our new gear, yay -_- what a hard fought accomplishment... No one needs to climb Everest anymore in these games, if they haven't put a flight path in to the top yet there'll be a guy standing at the bottom to hand you want you needed to get from the top anyway. There's no "accomplishment" left. Most of you probably think the exact same thing I do when I see someone in full War Hero gear - "They must have a lot of free time..."

Sorry to go off on a tangent there, just miss those days of forcing myself to log off for RL commitments and sitting there saying "damn that was EPIC!"

    This guy gets it!:rak_03:

  16. WOW had it right? The only world PVP WOW had for a long time really was South Shore vs Tarren Mill. You are comparing a MMO with multiple expansion to a recently released MMO? Come on, give Bioware a break!

They need to focus on server migrations and cross server queues first and foremost.

South Shore and Tarren Mill where in the game from launch... and they had it right. They were several areas were PVP would naturally happen....I can't think of a single area now in SWTOR where you can just be roaming around and find PVP.
