  1. Yeah but I really doubt they customized the core coding of it, to customize it so it has additional features is one thing - but changing the code so it runs multi threading is a huge thing.

This is like changing a gasoline car into a diesel car, you don't just change one part and suddenly you can run diesel fuel. At least to my knowledge of comp sci and coding.

I don't mean to be rude, but you shouldn't overhink stuff of which you obviously lack knowledge. You can't just take ideas from the physical world and use it for software. That's a huge mistake you see people on the internet make everyday, massively. Starting a PC and getting a game to run doesn't make anyone an expert at how the machine actually works. Still, 95% of totally clueless forum users think the opposite (I don't mean you with this statement, but look around, gosh).

  2. no i am not trolling i am being honest i have no idea about that game other than what i saw on youtube

My gosh, GOOGLE it if you want to know what it is. You will be amazed at the discovery that there's actually a real, official website about it. Yes, the internet got that crazy over the past two decades. It's unbelievable I know, but it's true. Promise.

  3. Nobody pointed a gun to your head and forced you to use a security key. For what, companion skins? You know they sell those outside of security vendors, right? You're telling me you're mad because the super unique skin that anyone else can get requires a security key?

I'm glad you don't care if you shouldn't QQ because your argument is a joke.

    No it's not.

In a game that costs a monthly sub to keep playing, it's outright idiotic to make some stuff only available to people who pay extra. It starts with pre-order bonuses, followed by this new abomination called Digital Deluxe Edition, closely followed by Collector's Editions which could do very well with just the physical stuff. Now the next little big thing is the security key.

After that, over time there will be the premium shop which will sell stuff like mounts, pets, and in ToR most likely customizations which will look much better than 99% of the stuff you can get ingame.

I hate it. It has absolutely no place in a game with a monthly sub. It's just a capitalistic tool to create revenue out of nothing.

I know right, how dare they give you special perks for protecting your account from hackers and scammers, they should reserve that **** for people who per-ordered and buy overpriced PC gadgets.

The much higher security of your account should be perk enough. I get it though, it's the same as how you make a kid take it's bitter medicine, just put it onto a lot of sugar.

  4. I realize this is a fantasy, but it is meant to be a sci fi as well, some of these really irk me.

    • Why does flashbang grenade blind the Miraluka?

    • Why is there sound and fire in space?

    • How, or why doe some droids act like they have feelings/personality when they are simply an AI?

    • With hyperdrive/FTL travel, how come there are planets/star systems that are still uncharted and unknown?

    • In one scene, an npc was talking with an individual in a holo recorder, I approach the recorder from the other side, the individual who was being recorded had to turn around to be able to see me, and speak with me, how on earth does that work, was he in some kind of 3D spectrum machine?

    • Force corruption on everyone that do evil deeds?

There, I marked your problem for you.

Star Wars is, and never was, Science Fiction. At it's most basic core, it all started as a classic fairy tale, dressed in a futuristic setting. Because it was the cool thing at it's time to do.

"Long ago, in a land far far away, an empire ruled by the evil wizard Palpatine reigned everyone and everything with terror and fear. His army, led by the black knight Vader, roamed the lands to wipe out the rest of the opposing rebellion.

A young farm boy named Luke Skywalker, who doesn't know much of the world, gets hold of an urgent message. Princess Leia Organa, leader of the last survivors of the rebellion, needs the help of an old friend of her, Ben Kenobi. Luke finds out that this person, who he knows as the old hermit, is in fact Obi Wan Kenobi, the last of a long wiped out order of white knights who fought together with Lukes father in the last big war.

Together they went on a most adventurous journey through the land, met some new friends, freed the princess and helped the rebellion to defend themselves. Luke got taught by the old knight how to wield his father's old magic sword, and how to tap into the source of magic that surrounds every living thing.

Dark knight kills white knight in the process, Luke and friends angry, empire tries to wipe out rebellion once and for all with a mighty super weapon, Luke uses magic to destroy it, yada yada battle won, end of the first part of the fairy tale."

Star Wars is Future Fantasy, and NOT Science Fiction.

  5. i will sum this up in 2 quick and accurate ways:

1: Space is a vacuum. There cannot be explosions in space, as there is not oxygen in space, which fire requires. The movie armageddon also got this wrong with their nuclear bomb detonation.

2: When you complete a space mission, you go into lightspeed. Now, the issue -- while in lightspeed, you can shoot missiles. The missiles travel ahead of you. Therefor, the missiles are traveling faster than you in lightspeed, and in turn, faster than the speed of light. This is impossible.

  6. You should be at such a seminar for the new church jesus at the moment hallelula of the sect ting

I have no clue what you're trying to tell me.

I get that you don't get what I said though. I try to elaborate:

    - Yes there seem to be some problems.

    - Because of the natural dynamics of raging internet masses (not unlike religious zealots) the problems got blown way out of proportion.

    The end.

  7. Bioware

"This issue is under active investigation.

The complication is that there are actually a number of different issues with very different causes and potential resolutions lumped together in this thread.

All we can say for now is 'we are actively working on the topic of character responsiveness'."

    Georg "Observer" Zoeller

    Principal Lead Combat Designer

Yeah, investigating something doesn't mean that the problem is of the same proportion as the herd makes it look like.

  8. I play an Assassin. There is absolutely no ability delay whatsoever. Every ability fires the instant I press the button. There is no waiting to finish an animation. Animations in general take never longer than a GCD, so there isn't even an overlap possible. Stuff which is off the GCD interestingly goes of instantly, no matter what my character is doing at that specific moment.

There's only one tiny problem: it's not possible to"pre-cast" a free targeted aoe ability as long as the GCD hasn't finished. It's annoying, because you lose the time you need to place the reticle, rather than firing it off the instant the GCD finishes. But that's not delay, it's a small flaw in the general design.

I can't speak for other classes above 10 though, besides that I experienced some weird behaviour with the Agent and his cover, but that was in beta. So I can't comment on anything else besides the Assassin for the moment.

Based on my observations I'd guess that there is no general ability delay, but rather a problem with some select abilities. Judging from the sheep effect on the official forums I deem it rather possible that the problem got, like all the other ones, blown way way out of proportion. Now you have the situation where all the rabbid followers, with absolutely no clue what ability delay/lag really would look like, are crying and stomping like little cry babies, demanding something fixed that isn't nearly as broken as they make it look.

If you read too much into all the rage you can easily get sucked into it. I speak from experience, because after not playing for a few days and taking part in the discussion about the high texture detail problem, I started to believe that the game indeed would look like utter crap. In reality though, if you play with everything maxed and some AA mixed into it, the game simply looks gorgeous. Yes, if you look too close textures get blurry. In reality though you would only zoom in that close to make screenshots that you gonna use to complain about the texture quality on the forums anyway. Of course it would be preffered to have the best possible textures available in general. But the current state is in no way as bad as the clowns on this forum are making it look.

  9. If you have a ati card, download a program called radeonpro, go to global settings and advanced, set mipmap bias to -3 for super sharp reflection textures and environment textures.

Or a better comprimise is - 2 , fps doesnt suffer much with that setting.

If your usin nvidia card, use nvidia inspector instead, ive not used that one tho so i cant say.

But this only effects environment textures and reflection textures, NOT characters

    Thank you very much.

My god can this game look good. It's beyond me why they aren't trying to make it look that great by default.

Now we need a crafty fix for the armor textures.

  10. I've attached screenshots below for comparison between what the game is rendering at standard "high" settings, and what the game renders with LOD bias forced below the standard threshold.

    Standard LOD:

    Forced LOD:

    http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j136/Cgramnaes/SWTOR_Forced_LOD.jpg

I should also mention that the change has made no impact on my FPS, and has if anything made the game run smoother for me.

    Whoa, what the heck?

There's even more under the hood it seems. Is it possible to force this stuff with an AMD GPU?

  11. It was my intention to play this game at least until GW2 comes out, and if it's worth it even after that.

As it stands now, I won't resub.

This game was released too early by EA and suffers from it left and right. I imagine the poor guys at BW running around like headless chicken trying to fix all the little things as soon as possible, some of them imploding in the process. I really feel for you people, I know it's not your fault.

I will never ever again buy anything where EA is involved. They blew it majorly with Hellgate: London. I can't even begin to imagine how you can do a simillar thing with a AAA high potential title like SW:ToR again. Now I know again why I hesitated to buy this game. If you want your game to be a long lasting hit the basics have to be finished for release. The high standards people are accustomed to have to be met, polished, and improved on.

SW:ToR has/had the potential to be such a great experience. In it's current state however, it's an overall good experience, but not worth investing time and lots of money into. Too much problems at so many fronts. This whole texture mess is a biggy, right up there with an insult of an UI, no macro capability, loading times, performance issues, unfinished features, way too many small annoying things for a release, and this list could go on for a while.

Why? Why does it have to be this way? Why can't the people responsible for this see what they are doing?

I don't get it. I don't even want to. It's your own fault for alienating potential long time customers with your stupid greed.

I stop caring here and now. But despite all this, if in a few months stuff for the most part is sorted out and it doesn't look like that the game is already transformed into a cash cow, I will take another look into it.

This is what I expect lots of people to do, so please, don't blow your second chance, because I really like to play what this game could potentially be!

May a lot of force be with you, a huge lot.

  12. can you kill elites gold an silver?

With ease. Also, if something adds you have a wider array of control. Like instant whirlwind which stuns if opened by damage and hits up to 2 additional normal targets. Or lower CD on electrocute.

Madness takes a while to come on it's own, deception is fastest rewarding imho.

As deception you smoke stuff out before they get a chance to put any serious hurt on you or your companion, madness is more sustained dps than burst, and the heals from dots are negligible.

Yeah you pretty much trade burst for control and sustainabilty. Also the selfhealing in general seems to be way to low to matter. That may be by design though, in which case I have to question why it was implemented at all.

  13. Go madness, it's crazy.

No really, I tried every spec up until about 30, and madness is the most fun for me. You do decent aoe dmg, which clears groups of normal mobs pretty fast. You throw dots around, which get boosted further and reg your energy later on if the mob is debuffed. Generally there seems to be much more to look out for in terms of buffs/debuffs/procs than with the other specs, which I like. It's great fun for solo play, and I yet have to encounter something I can't beat, excluding obvious stuff like most group content at level of course.

I'm going to try full darkness again once I got my useful healer though.
