  1. Casuals play when they have time after RL-issues.

Hardcore plan RL according to there gaming schedule.

This. I'd only add that even when hardcore players aren't playing games they are often thinking about it.

The number of casual gamers far outweighs the number of hardcore gamers and as a result games are primarily designed for the casual audience.

  2. There is a list of datacron achievements in the codex.

Your codex also keeps track of how many datacrons are left on each planet. To view this simply open the codex and then select the planets tab and a planet. Then hit the little magnifying glass icon to reveal all the achievements available to you on that planet including how many you have already discovered.

  3. Jedis stand for being the good guys so why would they slaughter beasts for vestments which they can easily find elsewhere in such an advanced state of the universe?
And how exactly do you know that in this "advanced state of the universe" that they have not discovered a way to create a material that looks identical to leather (and perhaps even more durable) without the sacrifice of a beast?
  4. Champions = F2P

    Warhammer = Endless trial

    Age of Conan = F2P

    This is success for you?

Team Fortress 2 = F2P. It must be a failure as well.

Did these games fail to achieve the level of success attained by WoW? Definitely.

Did they fail to live up to the expectations of their developers/publishers? Most likely.

Did they fail to make any money and achieve some level of success? I doubt it .

  5. that is probably the worst explanation I have ever heard.

You are saying because of the force she remembers her mom who was alive for all of 5 mins?

She says her mother died when she was very young. Not my mother died when she was 5 mins old.

She was very beautiful but sad. In the 5 mins of giving birth she was able to see what she looked like? Then it should have been she was very beautiful but in a lot of pain.

Huh? You realize a baby is alive before the mother gives birth, right?

Let's look at the actual quote from RotJ.

Luke: Leia, do you remember your mother? Your real mother?

Princess Leia: Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.

    Luke: What do you remember?

Princess Leia: Just... images really. Feelings.

    Luke: Tell me.

Princess Leia: She was... very beautiful. Kind, but sad. Why are you asking me this?

Is it possible that inside the womb of her mother, Leia received images and feelings of her mother via the force before her death that seared into Leia's brain for the rest of her life? Other than a fully developed brain it's not any different than Anakin getting images that his mother is in pain all the way out in the outer rim of the galaxy or seeing Padme's future death. On the topic of seeing the future it's also possible that at 3-4 years of age or something Leia could have had visions of Padme from the past as well and these are the memories she has in RotJ of her mother.

Of course next you'll say, "why doesn't Luke have this memory as well?" It's either because Luke simply doesn't remember or he never made the same connection Leia did.

If this is just totally unacceptable to you then you are left to believe that Leia was talking about Breha Organa, which can still fit. I bet you could find someone that considers their foster parents to be their real father and mother. They may not be the person's biological father or mother, but they are every bit as real of a father or mother to them and would label them as such.

  6. How exactly do you figure out who to penalize for this and not chance accidentally penalizing an innocent that's in the area, trying to play normally as this is going on?

And did you ever take part in any trading of capture points? Kill trading is not really any different.

  7. Is the boss casting a nasty ability that is gonna require an intense burst of healing? Well how would I know since I have the tank targeted and sure I can see his cast bar on his nameplate but what the heck is he casting. I can switch over and check real quick, OH SNAP, tank died.

    Get it now?

Not really. I sympathize more with a tank's inability to see target of target than a healer's because a healer can easily set the tank as their focus target then use the focus modifier key to heal them at any time while keeping the boss targeted and maintaining view of their cast bar. The focus frame is not perfect as it overlaps the enemy cast bar a bit, but it's definitely usable and once the UI scale/opacity changes come out this issue should be fixed.

An easy way to have target of targetting or even an /assist command would be greatly appreciated. As a healer with dps cababilites it would be nice to be able to see what the tank is targetting while I heal them so I can stun them or even interrupt them without tabbing and then F-keying back to them.
If you use the focus frame to heal your tank then all you have to do is target his target by pressing ctrl+f. (thanks Kyler, I setup my assist target/focus target keys on f key with modifiers, but somehow never realized what ctrl+f did)
  8. Always the bad ones.
Your blanket generalization is wrong. It would be like me saying, only bad players with a lot of time on their hands would ever want gear based progression in PVP.

You make a comment below on how they should research games without gear based progression. The game's already designed with gear progression in mind. Stupidly pointless suggestion is pointless and stupid.
Which in no way says that I expected the game not to have gear progression. And last time I checked MMOs or even just games in general can change greatly over time. It would not be hard to remove gear based progression from PVP in SWTOR.

A player's practice in PvP should be what separates them from a strictly PvE player. PvP stats are a crutch for players to have an advantage completely unrelated to their skill. PvP stats carry a lot of players sadly.
    I agree.
  9. I also have the right to criticize the fact that bad players always want to change the system, because it doesn't cater to their flaws.
And I"m sure that's the case with many people, but surely you are not saying that it's impossible that a good player would want to change the system.

This game shouldn't be gear-based. Bioware, it's time to start over. Someone bought this game not realizing gear would be a factor.
When did I say I bought this game not expecting it to be gear based? I think even in my last post I basically said that the gear based progression in PVP was not a deal breaker.

Consult IceManLoneWolf, he will design a better system. There will be no forum threads about changing that system.
I'll gladly offer my suggestions, but they really don't need me since there are many games without gear based progression that they can research.
  10. There's a difference between things that are broken like ability lockups that require you to deselect a target and complaining that when you turn 50, you get rolled by players with better gear in a gear-based game.
I wasn't even talking about criticisms about things that were broken. I was talking about criticisms about things of a more personal nature that you dislike. Perhaps you dislike the story and felt it could be stronger if such and such happened. Or you didn't like the pacing of the game. Etc.

It's true the game is gear based, but it doesn't have to be. I don't see what gear based progression in PVP adds. I'm obviously willing to play a game with such a system, but I'm always going to question its place when I don't see the point and can think of better systems.

  11. 2. Melee have to do it on the move
So a Sage/Sorcerer does not have to be on the move? If that's the case then when a melee class fights a Sage/Sorcerer they should just be able to close the distance and then just stand in place as they trade blows since apparently a Sage/Sorcerer doesn't have to do things on the move in order to survive in PVP.
  12. Why not just adapt to the system?

Bad players try to change the system to fit them.

    Good players adapt.

So I take it you don't ever have any criticisms of any games you play because you are one of these so called "good adaptable" players, right?

And anyone that continues to play the game is going to be forced to adapt, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to long for something better.

  13. The issue the non 50's had before the brackets were the level 50 players. The problem wasn't because they were 50 though, it was because of their gear. The brackets fixed this problem for low levels, but for 50s who don't have gear the problem remains and the Illum farming certainly didn't help matters. Now they are the weak ones with no one smaller to pick on so what do they do? Complain of course.

I'd like to see them give free PVP gear that is virtually worthless in PVE to all and make the stats for each class/spec PVP set identical to other sets PVP gear for that class/spec. Perhaps some gear could be available that let's you sacrifice a certain set bonus for another along the lines of the gear in Team Fortress 2, but so long as the emphasis is not on min/maxing, but on play style and strategy.

  14. Lol skill based? If there isn't pvp gear, then who ever had the best pve gear would have the advantage.
Obviously because it would be impossible for them to change the stats of a player's PVE gear when they enter a warzone. They also couldn't possibly give everyone a basic PVP gear set for free and require that PVP gear be used in warzones, but then provide other rewards such as cosmetic customizations to your PVP gear or even PVP sets with alternative benefits.
  15. I also do not particularly enjoy grinding for anything... levels, gear, pvp or pve. I did not expect SWTOR to break the mold and I'm fine with that.
Does that mean you shouldn't express your opinions and champion change? Last time I checked MMOs change over time. You can be content with what you bought and still long for more.
