  1. I was thinking that a good way to free up character names would be to allow an account to use the same name for any character on the same server.

The game already restricts you to a single session per account and each account can only logon with one character at a time and no one else can use the name once it's taken on the server, so if a player can use the same name for any or all of their characters on a single server, it doesn't really matter if they logon with "Bob" the Bounty Hunter or "Bob" the Assassin or "Bob" the Jedi, It's still unique in game. Thus freeing up other names they might have used to arbitrarily name eight different characters on the one server.

  2. Can we get some official word from Bioware on this. Purples are still dropping with huge amounts of armor but no other stat. Or huge amounts of Force/Tech power with no other stat. The only mod slot is for Dye or a Crystal on weapons. Is this intended or a bug?
  3. I'm not sure whose idea it was to make all flashpoints available to all players once they hit level 15. Especially since low level players won't have the higher level skills required to complete the flashpoints and are potentially exposed to story spoilers if they get into flashpoints above their current level.

Flashpoints should become available as you level exactly the same way as they used to, however they should remain available once you out level them because now Level Sync can still make them challenging while providing a larger pool of players queued in Group Finder to be eligible for any lower level flashpoint. It also allows new players the chance to learn how to fight bosses with their class as they level.

This seemed the intuitive solution to me to improve group play (remember, you're an MMO not an RPG with online multiplayer) why was this not done?

  4. This may not be a bug. I had a warrior who had Vette as a Guest and lost her after 4.0. All that had happened was my class mission had been reset to before I had collected her and I had to repeat the part where I picked her up again. Problem solved.
  5. Welcome back. The entire experience has been adjusted to level you in exactly this way. The main focus is on doing class missions and the main planetary story. A lot of the side missions have been removed. Even heroics are all available at a single terminal on fleet with their own QT that will take you right to them.

I played a starter character last night just to test out the levelling experience. Walking everywhere (no Sprint) and watching all conversations and doing all missions with no XP boost took just under 2 hours and got me to mid level 13. After doing the Heroics I was at mid level 14. If you space bar the convo's and sprint you'll improve on this time. I am a subscriber and made use of quick travel. Having played 12x XP this experience was slightly faster even having deliberately behaved as a new player. So you should have no difficulty levelling up quickly.

  6. Cross server queuing is essential if the game is to survive. Populations are only low as people try to flood onto a higher population server they believe will increase their chance of poping PvP/Flashpoints. However, since the game uses the Hero engine which Bioware/EA have no control over, it's unlikely that they'd be able to do this without help. Content is easier than changing an engine you don't own. I suspect the reason we have prolonged cheap transfers is a work-around so that you can at least get a four player group of friends together on one server.

There is a very short window before the movies are released and we have an influx of temporary gamers. If they can't queue and pop within a short period of time, they won't become permanent gamers, they'll just leave again. I myself waited 9 hours for Cademimu to pop on The Ebon Hawk after queuing, almost outleveling it.

  7. Since a character can't get to fleet before level 7, is there a way to do this on the starter worlds?

(Actually, I just realised... if this is a legacy bound item, you can mail it to your starter character. Problem solved for everyone but a brand new account.)

  8. I have just received an email indicating that APAC consolidation will be finalised in around a month. My question is, how will name collisions be managed for those still on the APAC servers? I know a friend who moved his level 55 Bounty Hunter voluntarily lost his name to an unplayed level 1. But will it be similar to the merger of the US servers where play time, level and other factors were taken into consideration as to whom keeps their name and who must inevitably lose theirs, or will APAC characters simply lose out. Or in other words, are my level 50+ characters really going to lose their names to unplayed level 1 characters just because I was unfortunate enough to be on a sever that's no longer deemed to be necessary? What about if I have a character that's 5, 10, 15 levels above a character on the sever that mine will be merged to? A number of characters still sit on the APAC server awaiting a definitive answer to this question.
  9. Your best course of action is to make a placeholder character on the server you'll be moving to in order to find a name you'll be happy with. Then once you're moved and flagged for a rename, delete the placeholder and change your name to that name..

Oh I agree and I have done just that, and also moved some of my characters where names were available. But I was asked by Bioware to move from Jekk'Jekk to Harbinger and lost names, then from Harbinger to Dalborra and lost names, and now from Dalborra to Harbinger. It feels as though whenever I comply with a Bioware request I get ... mistreated.

  11. Wow I just had the greatest play experience on US Jung Mar server ever. Only 350ms lag with lag spikes of an average 2.5 seconds it didn't take more than a whole second for a skill I clicked on to be displayed on screen. By then the global cooldown had finished (at least on my client) and I could even click on another skill. It didn't always work, but hey. Nothing like the terrible near instantaneous response I get on these crappy AP servers where each skill activation is immediately reflected on screen and the next skill I click goes off every time.

And wait till I tell you about PvP! There's no wait time to die. You can be running into combat and just end up back at the start zone after a few explosions. No need to fight back, none of that wasted effort activating skills. It's brilliant! On the AP servers I had to stand around fighting, attacking and chasing my opponents, clicking on a skill rotation. Who needs that?

Overall, this is a fantastic move on behalf of EA. Bravo! I applaud your efforts. It's just like they said it would be. A much more enjoyable play experience.

  12. No, when you enter an instance it asks if you want to join the instance of a group member that's already entered or create your own.

The biggest problem with same-class play is that everyone is rolling on the same gear. You get a lot of spare gear for other classes that can (if you can sell it) make credits to buy more Aim gear and Pistols. But you'll find this happening on missions, Heroics and Flashpoints.
