  1. Let me start this by saying that TOR is a pretty decent game. It has a laundry list of small issues, and a few big ones, but I've had a fair bit of fun with it and it has a good number or redeeming qualities to it as well.

Now to get to my point:

World of WarCraft is the most successful MMO in history. This is a fact. This is backed up by quantifiable empirical evidence. This also has nothing to do with whether or not you subjectively like it.

That being said, it is the top dog. It is the MMO which all other MMOs must aspire to equal or beat in terms of quality. This does not mean they must be clones of it, rather that they must appeal to as many people as it does for their own reasons (or similar ones).

Consumer loyalty is a big part of the 21st century Western mindset. I don't blame the apologists for being brainwashed into thinking they are the white knights of a corporation and are thus tasked to defend it at every juncture. I admire loyalty, and loyalty to developers isn't a bad thing, as long as you leave room for criticism when it must duly be applied.

The problem here is that so many of you are just flat out denying that TOR is in no way in the same realm that World of WarCraft is in. What's even more pathetic is that some of you are actually trying to justify this inane reasoning by comparing TOR to Vanilla WoW and the issues it had.

World of WarCraft came out in 2004. You are trying to compare a product from 2004 to a product from 2011.

Do you understand how puerile that is? Try doing that in any other market. Hell, try doing that with any other game if you like.

Compare a Smartphone from 2004 to a Smartphone from 2011. If the Smartphone from 2011 was missing features that a phone from 2004 had, you would be laughing your asses off at it, asking yourselves how anyone allowed such a worthless product to market.

What if Modern Warfare 3 didn't have online capabilities even though Call of Duty 2 did? What if Portal 2 didn't run on Steamworks, yet Half-Life 2 did? You can pick whatever other comparison you like, it all points to the same issue.

TOR should be compared to World of Warcraft 4.3, and the fact that it cannot in any way come close to matching what the current model offers is why so many people are frustrated with the game as it currently stands.

There is no /roll or /random command in TOR I mean for ****'s sake, you're going to try to defend minutiae like this away by saying to give it time? It needs time to implement what has been in a seven year old game of the same genre? It needs time to implement graphical settings which have existed for over a decade?

How much time does it need to bring itself to speed and match a 2011 title? The ball is in BioWare's court. They're the new kid on the block, and they have to prove themselves as a capable competitor.

First half summation: "Games are games, they don't have to be similar to each other."

Second: "TOR doesn't have things WoW has"

    WHAT?

  2. People, chill out with the hate.

SWTOR is a FUN game, it has a LOT of content for an MMO release. It's not perfect, it has its flaws, but it is a GOOD MMO launch. Give it time, let content expand, let bugs get fixed, it's got something for everyone. I feel like it will become only more hardcore with time.

Go play some more. I promise you'll enjoy it.

  3. Now I'm not lvl 40 but I wouldnt go so far as to state the class is broken as I'm leveling fine with it solo. I sometimes have issues with multiple mobs but if I use Vette properly I negate most of the issues.

I havent tried it PVP yet so I cant comment. I dont find heroics easy but that could also be due to the fact I havent invested any skill points yet and I'm lvl 24, just got choke and looking forward to trying it out.

Oh and one more thing, we dont seem to have much variaty with our armor and that is getting annoying.

How can you possibly excuse yourself not investing any skill points at level 24? You're literally useless in any group.

You know you can re-spec at any time, right?

  4. Hey guys, I have a question. How is level 50 PvP gear obtained? I know it's through commendations, but apparently you can only have 1k commendations at a time. I'm a marauder wanting to buy a level 50 set when I get there, and saving up now. What should I be doing/investing my commendation points into to start ensuring I don't waste potential points?
  5. Hey guys, I have been getting only 25-30 fps consistently no matter what the settings I have. (Everything maxed gets near exactly the same performance as low)...

    My specs:

    AMD® Fusion APU A6-3400M/A4-3300M Processor

    AMD Radeon® HD 6720G2 1GB DDR3 VRAM Built-in A6-3400M

    4gb RAM

I think my rig should handle it decently...

    Any ideas?

All drivers are up to date, also.

  6. I've stopped caring :p

Might get in today, might not. Either way, my friends are level 30, my favorite nicks are prolly taken on most servers, especially theirs, and since I want to play on a pvp server I know exactly what to expect once I'm out of the starting area. Considering just returning the game and getting back my money, this just didn't feel right to me.

You have a pretty easy life, don't you?

  7. Obviously, you have not played many MMO's. About 1 year ago, a game called Rift was launched, which had a PERFECT launch. Many other games has been better at launch as well. But Rift will (for me) be the perfect example of how you launch a server without any trouble whatsoever.

Rift crashed, lagged, had queues, and had not a very large player base.
