  1. And different games have different levels of susceptibility to lag because of their engine design and their game play mechanics. TOR is not designed to be played with a high level of lag, its the reason why EA/Bioware delayed the release of the game in Australia until after they had Oceanic servers up.

Well said. TOR is the most extreme example of low ping necessity (EC Nightmare inductions, anyone?) whereas other games, such as LOTRO, are much slower paced CC/coordination based games that are very easily playable with high ping. For me, TOR is not playable with the ping I have (at best 300-400 WITH battleping) whereas LOTRO is still very much playable due it's fundamental design difference.

LOTRO is far from the greatest game, but as a lifetime subscriber with a long history there, I have alread returned and unsubbed all my TOR accounts.

  2. It doesn't even cut the mustard for those on the east coast, I feel for those spread over the rest of Australia.

There's a lot of people (especially Eric Musco AND certain AU players who say we need to stop crying and get over is because NA servers are fine) who need to get our an atlas and have a look at just how far away all the people like myself are over here in the north-west of WA.

Battleping, Pingzapper, none of them can save people like us. They "stabilise" me at 350-500ms+ out of combat under no load.

  3. I'm laughing more at the fact that you didn't check to see what you're paying every month.

If you're doing well for yourself financially, as I am, you tend to spend less time looking over your monetary details (especially such a small monthly payment) and more time enjoying your money.

  4. Since Bioware/EA claimed that they were improving my game-play experience i decided to log onto The Bastion, which is the server that my characters will be placed on since i am on Master D. Currently on Master D i get around 20-40 ping sitting on the fleet. A little more when doing raids and pvp but unless my internet is having problems i don't really go over 100.

Well on my new server, sitting on the fleet gives me 300 ping and being on planet gives me around 400 and it is not stable with the ping constantly jumping to over 1000. I would love Bioware/EA to tell me how this improves my game-play experience. I know from previous experience on Warriors of Shadow before the mergers pvp was horrible and people would randomly change positions and i gave up on pvp till i moved onto the APAC servers.

Please tell me how encouraging me not to participate in high end pvp/raiding improves my game-play experience when decisions must be made on the spot have a delay.

I guess in the end it really doesn't matter since if they close the servers i will not be playing this game anymore.

A vast majority of people are in this boat, myself included, let's see if BW actually cares about a solution and reverts their decision to dissolve APAC servers.

  5. I had no problems with Gav Daragon's population. I liked farming Black Hole dailies without my rotation being interrupted. I had plenty of things to do and I play up to 40 hours a week. I would've accepted an APAC superserver not a US transfer. If the transfer is going ahead anyways can I pick which one I go to?

No you can't. Apparently it's what YOU wanted though. Apparently it's what we ALL wanted. Read what Musco said. I can't believe they won't even come out and just be STRAIGHT with us. They have the gall to tell us this is what we want and what we asked for. Why bother spending months asking us for "Our feedback" when all they did was ignore it anyway.

If you had to compile a list of 5 possible options according to the people they have chosen the very bottom of that list.

  6. When you boil it down, it's simply not profitable for them to operate APAC servers. And BW/EA is not a non-profit organization of real-life Jedi from Australia, funding TOR out of some strange religious requirement.

    It's a business.

If more APAC players existed, then there wouldn't be an issue in keeping the servers running. But, there isn't, so the point is moot.

If you go to TORstatus and compare the population of APAC servers you'd actually see it IS profitable. Going by the fact that the average Aussie's annual wage is MUCH higher than that of an American, we can only assume there's more Cartel Coins per person purchased and a higher rate of subscribers versus F2P as well. Running one AU server would be cheaper and easier on their end after the swap and it would be very profitable. A majority of people I know have either unsubbed or are waiting around for the next few days to see if they decide to change their minds before unsubbing. Surely this is not the profit you speak of.

  7. I'm really surprised by their final solution as well. Sort of stunned actually. Some good peeps on APAC servers. Sad that there won't be a local server solution for them. Peeps who bought the expansion on those servers certainly deserve a refund.

Yeah. I still can't believe that even as of right now they haven't changed their minds or put a hold on their decision.

  8. Ugh so as of right now this is all still going ahead? Man, I loved this game, I literally can't play on US servers because I live in Western Australia. Mechanics like Nightmare EC droid interrupts... yeah literally impossible for me. PVP? Client is so sluggish I can't play at a competitive level. Still no word on them changing their minds? D:
  9. I've been on a 6 month recurring sub since day one. If BW/EA don't change their plans for APAC servers in the next 3-5 days I will be cancelling my subscription, while it'll take a few months to run out, I won't ever return once it's out, not even to play as f2p/freemium.
