  1. Yeah my main thought last night was losing the proc for HIB, I've only played Gunnery Commando and I don't know if Vanguards get anything like Grav Round to make HIB usable. Losing HIB is too much of a risk seeing as most damage is centred around it.
  2. Usually I wouldn't bother asking knowing that more tech power = more damage but the plus side to using a generator and Ion Cell just seem like a massive boost to survivability in PvP.

Trading some tech power for 60% more armor, 5% damage reduction and 20% total shield chance seems like it could really work in my favour to keep me alive longer...even though I seem to survive for a while as it is.

My question is could this work? Or will I end up losing too much DPS from the shield?

Oh also atm I'm only level 15 and tactics spec.

  3. I'm 40 so far and haven't rushed anything at all. I find this thread to be completely valid and honestly the amount of people complaining about 50's need to grow up. There are many circumstances and reasons people can be 50 by now. Its not their fault they have more time than you its the holidays for christ sake.

Back to the topic on hand. Illum is one of my main goals for endgame and I'm glad you posted this. I should be 50 real soon, hopefully before new year and would love to see more things implemented to make it a viable activity like in WAR. That sort of PVP system or similar would be amazing in this game and I hope the devs take notice and do something about it.

Ignore the haters, they don't even know what they're on about.

So where is the "Dalaran" of SWTOR, the place where everyone stands around checking out each other's gear and trade-chatting in between running dailies or PvP matches?

That would be the Fleet Stations :)

  4. Id rather not see them in game...simply because itll breed elitism (its already happening and it wont happen 100% cause of meters but theyll add to it) and also because it will cause whine.

Right now I havent seen too much of "this class is OP nerf it now!" or "my class is UP buff us!" Theres probably some....but not a massive amount that the whole community knows about it. This means that most people feel somewhat equal...or there abouts.

However if they made it in..I wouldnt complain UNLESS they made the results postable into the chat log. People like that in WoW pissed me off and would often get kicked from groups I was running.

Its great to monitor your own dps...but I really dont care whos doing the most and then having them show off like its all theyve ever been good at.

  5. I'm kind of confused why people seem to need to press lots of skills on Commando. I litterally use.

    1 - Hammer Shot

    2 - Explosive Round

    3 - Grav Round

    4 - Cryo Grenade

    Q - High Impact Bolt

    E - Full Auto

    F - Demo Round

Thats all I need to for single target DPS.

If I decide t AOE then I use:

    5 - Plasma Grenade

    Shift + F - Mortar Round

    Shift + Q - Hail of Bolts

Shift + E - Pulse Cannon (Close up AOE)

I dont use AOE often though.

And finally I have a few things bound that I don't see as important but still use when called for sometimes often i.e the shield, such as:

    6 - Concussion Round

    7 - Medical Probe

    8 - Advanced Medical Probe

    9 - Field Aid

    0 - Adrenaline Rush

    Shift + 1 - Stockstrike

    Shift + 2 - Reactive Shield

    Shift + 3 - Reserve Powercell

    Shift + 4 - Diversion

    Mouse 4 - Tenacity

    Mouse 5 - Concussive Blast

I also usually click the power cells, class buff, heals and things like diversion and adrenaline rush. The reason being theyre not needed that immediately and I dont like other binds.

And you can also see I dont use all the abillties such as sticky grenade and charged shot or whatever its called.

This is simply because theyre not needed and theyre are much better skills for single target dps (grav round, high impact bolt, demo round, full auto) that make most other skills useless.

So far Ive out dps'd as well as I tell pretty much every class thanks to a good crit rate and large hits. And in PvP I'm usually at the top or very close.

DPS commando isnt hard, just realise which skills are the most important and focus around those but keeping other useful skills like the shield and reload close at hand :)

  6. really interesting, now wheres the part why dualspec is bad and what have 10y old mmos have to do wit it?

I wasnt the one who stated that however the point they meant was duel spec has only been around for a couple of years in WoW and never existed before. It was something WoW did to cater to the casual masses which caused many original players to leave as decisions made to cater to the casuals started to ruin the game and they dont want to see the same happen here.

  7. Im a DPS commando. They can put dual spec in if they want but I'm not using it. I dont enjoy healing, thats why I play DPS. Aslong as people dont seem to think that because its there I should do it then I couldnt care less.

I refuse to heal, its not my cup of tea. Deal with it and we'll have no problem with dual spec in the game. Tell me I should heal because I now have the option? piss off. Simple as that.

  8. I hate damage meters tbh it DOES breed elitism. No matter what people say it does. Not 100% but its there in a good portion.

However..I can put up with them IF some retard isn't spamming the chat after every boss fight with all the bloody results to show off or what no. God that pissed me off in wow.

"Yes well done you're better geared/the OP class atm well done at pushing your number keys"

People like that make games like this a chore.

  9. It's not a matter of opinion though. More freedom of choice is an improvement in character creation for any MMO. That's an objective fact.

Making them optional =/= removing them.

You ignored the main point of my post IMBALANCE. How would you suggest it functions in PVP? You cant give one player a boost in stats because he chooses not to have a companion? as it would make everything imbalanced.

  10. Bioware games before SWTOR have been single player RPGs.

They are totally irrelevant to an MMORPG.

Just wanted to say, this is where you slipped up.

Please point me towards some sort of "How to make an MMORPG guide" you know the thing that says every MMO has to use the same ideas and game features.

MMO's do use lots of things from other past MMO's but the little things are what set them apart.

  11. I'm pretty sure I pre-empted such replies with "that's irrelevant," because it is.

Optional companions would be an improvement, no matter how you look at it.

Are you against improving the game?

Replies like that are exactly why SWTOR's community is looked upon as a bunch of fanboys, which is far from the truth, but the stigma is still there because of people praising everything as the holy grail and not acknowledging the possibility of improvements.

    Fell for the bait huh?

My point actually is. Your opinion of improving the game =/= my opinion.

I love the companions just like I have in every other BW game and it was a huge draw for me. So no I don't see the point in them getting rid of the companions. Not to mention it could seriously unbalance the game.

  12. WONT....EVER....HAPPEN.

Heck even WoW had more options in specs than SWTOR, but I love this game so much more. But WoW only ever ahd dual spec. Honestly make your DPS spec viable for PVP as well as PVP its not hard...considering theres little to no abilities to be gained from the spec trees.

Simply put deal with it, what you're doing could destroy any need for other classes.

And do you not PVP? Do you know that some abilities in skill trees have only PVE or PVP purpose?

As I said there's barely any abilities in trees, I have TWO from the gunnery tree and that's all there is to gain. BOTH are applicable in PVE and PVP. Im not sure why youre having so much trouble...but as I said even win WoW where there was more choice you only had Dual Spec.

    It wont happen.

  13. Tri/quad spec situation...

I'm PVE tank, but I have a DPS offspec because we don't always need tanking for raids. I've just used 2 specs.

hrm...I like to PVP too in DPS mode, but I kinda suck because I didn't pick any PVP based abilities...a third spec sure would be handy.

My guild needs a PVP healer but none are on. If only I had that fourth spec to use I'd save the day.

    Alternative:

Roll 4 seperate characters and level them to 50, then try to manage gear on each one seperately...won't happen, I've already quit. Only so many times I can take the same areas and quests.

    WONT....EVER....HAPPEN.

  14. Been saying this for about a week now. Its the one thing I'm really not happy with in this game. They stated on the launch video "playing with hundreds if not thousands of players on the same planet as you" I guess they forgot to mention you wouldn't see hardly any of them due to instancing.

I remember feeling ripped off when I first started playing Champions Online when it came out and they had 100 people limits to an instance, I'm not sure how it happened but BW seem to have done even worse.

Its probably because of spawn rates or something and I seem to remember them saying they would stop the instancing when the game has been on its legs for a while and the population has spread...except that it wont. Endgame will be full of people wanting to be in the same space just like now.

I wish the instancing really wasn't there, it kills the feel for me sometimes.

  15. I wouldn't say its needed at all. Imo people have been spoiled by WoW. I play dps because I like it. I'm not fond of healing and like an earlier poster said I will be criticized for not picking up healing as a secondary. It doesn't matter what other people think but its enough to get you not invited to groups.

If I could tank it would be a different story but Commandos cant, so essentially dual spec is useless to me.

Its not actually needed, tri spec is certainly 100% not needed and neither is AC swtiching. That would equate the game to "hey pick a class...there you dont have to see any other content ever again even though we spent years making it because you can do everything"

Im expecting dual spec to be in a some point, although I doubt Ill ever heal, I mean why should I if I find it boring? but Tri and AC will NEVER be in and would be a bad design choice with how the game is structured.

  16. I tend to crit..a lot. Atm Im getting 2k grav shot crits 25% of the time. This recharges my cells and also has other benefits of buffs and dots im sure youre already aware of. I tend to use grave round a couple of times then use hammer shot which usually gives me time to charge a few cells if they get close knock them back then hit them with full auto and by now youre full on cells. Just go to town with grav round and use your shield if you need to. 1v1 you dont even need to move against melee, our heavy armor shields heals and damage out put is great.

EDIT: I also forgot to ad in hight impact bolt which can and great burst on a crit and can easily do upwards of 3k if grav and HI both crit.

  17. 50% of the folks are saying take up slicing... while the other 50% says slicing was nerfed

so hard to get information from these forums :(

Slicing is still a very good way to get credits. Not as much as it was but still very very good. Even so you should be easily able to get enough credits and more for speeder training.
