  1. Which means 2 things :

    1. The usual faction favouritism by the devs : Play Empire side to get everything. Similar to Makeb's conclusion ( which is even named "[being] Well connected" -> compare to Republic side's "Making the connection").

    2. Don't play Republic side. You'll get the most boring stories, and in most cases even not stories at all, just encounters.

There is a very important cutscene after completing Dread Palace that is only available to Republic players.

But don't let that interrupt your pity party.

  2. Some people think you should read guides before showing up to a GF pug (I mostly agree).

Some people think it's incumbent on the raid lead to explain everything to new players (ignoring the fact that in a true GF pug, the raid lead is assigned randomly).

What about another approach: Bioware could put a basic explanation of the SM mechanics in the Codex or Tutorial panes. GF pugs aren't progression where things are kept secret for the thrill of the competition; let the game explain itself.

  3. HM FPs are NOT bolstered, only the tacticals. Plainly showing in the last groups ive been in where ppl have from 50K up to 62.000 with bad gear. Me in 216/220 have 80K showing up in the group.

Same situation with HM Ops, only SM Ops are bolstered.

Quit being bad, gear with atleast 208 auged before going into HMs and 216 auged before HM Ops.

Want to be carried? Do it somewhere else than my groups por favor.

They HAVE to be bolstered. The level range is 50-65.

  4. It always perplexes me why some people read a suggestion like this and decide to argue against it. If they created a stealth bar, and made it optional like the cover bar, how would that in any way hurt the game? It would be a win/win situation, since it's optional.

And don't tell me it's because it would dumb down the game. Turning 6 keybindings into 3 would not dumb down the game. I'm using 37 keybinds right now, and I'll reach 40 by the time I have all my abilities. I can't use Spike, Blackout, and Mind Trap out of combat, so they're dead weight 90% of the time, but they still need a keybind, because clicking is so 2005.

I'd kill a room full of younglings to get a stealth bar.

Mind Trap is the only ability that can only be used from stealth if you compare across all 3 disciplines.

Personally, I hope we get a stealth bar just so more players become aware of just how few abilities are only usable from stealth.

Maybe we should have an execute bar too. Bars for all the things.

  5. Missed this comment, what was SimulationCraft-SWTOR?

A SWTOR port of this: http://simulationcraft.org/ . Original development discussion was hosted primarily at MMO Mechanics (now defunct), later moved to https://code.google.com/p/simulationcraft-swtor/ (now abandoned), moved to a Google Groups mailing list at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/simulationcraft-swtor (now inactive), and had it's final death throes at https://github.com/simulationcraft-swtor . It never got to the point of fully simulating all classes or specs, but Deception was one of the ones fully simulated from the start.

  6. ...apart from the fact that if you read the tooltip, it's supposed to be a melee attack from a melee class.

How do you hit someone with a saberstaff from 30 metres away when you're still holding onto the thing?

At least have some logic around abilities for gawds sake.

At least check out the new animation before posting, for gawds sake.

  7. Hmm, guess I was just being pulled by people that were tanks but using dps stance. Why they would do that I don't know :/. Still, they do not need a 30 meter root, either of them.

The Deception/Infiltration stance is tied to their Discipline. If you were being pulled by an Assassin/Shadow tank in DPS stance they were using Hatred/Serenity's stance. Please learn to identify which AC you are fighting before asking for buffs or nerfs.

  8. So eric what is stopping people from win-trading, getting to the required rating, stopping when the warning arrives, and wait for get the rewards at the end of season ?

Shouldn't there be a reset of ratings right immediately ?

Yeah, this seems like a pretty clear go-ahead to win-trade as much as you want until you get your warning, and then sit back and reap the rewards.

  9. I used the group finder to queue for an operation a few weeks back and after the hours of wait time it popped. At the time my Mara had just reached 60... He was decked out in 186 gear with everything but relics and implants augmented with 186 augs... The relics weren't augged and the implants were 162 augs

The group quickly booted me and said I was under geared for the op and that I shouldn't queue unless I was AT LEAST 186 with full 186 augs.

That group didn't know what they were talking about. Operations done through Group Finder [only] are Bolstered, which will give anyone in any gear stats that are better than what you can get from full 186 commendation gear with 186 augments. Gear alone is never ever, under any circumstance, a reason to kick someone from a Group Finder Operation.

  10. This would explain the problem a more or less new player has reported here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=800596 under point 2.

The problem that player encountered was pure ignorance from the other players. He was using Group Finder, which means he would get Bolstered inside the Operation, which will give anyone in any gear stats that are better than what you can get from full 186 commendation gear with 186 augments. Gear alone is never ever, under any circumstance, a reason to kick someone from a Group Finder Operation.

  11. The problem ix OPs takes alot more coordination and communication. It also takes the proper gear. In a GF OP, you have people trying to join an OP in green and blue gear, or like 148 gear, then they come on the forums QQing about how hard it is, and that SM OPs just should be faceroll easy because they "paid" for the content. Which by the way, you dont pay for content, you pay for accesz to the content. Not a guarantee they you should be able to finish it.

Group Finder Operations have Bolster. Your gear literally doesn't matter.

  12. Sigh, you simply won't understand.

It's not something that can be shown in parses. It's pure, simple, logic. I want those first 3 hits to hit the hardest.

Whatever ends up doing the most damage in the end doesn't interest me in the slighest.

I know it might be hard to fathom a semi optimal parsing setup might be more appealing in PvP for a theorycrafter.

But it is. And there's not that much to it, just simple thinking.

Not all parses need be dummy parses. Show us some combat logs from real fights that pit your all Surge build versus Aelanis's Surge/Alacrity build. Show us your instagibs.
