  1. Every jugg / guardian clips (or should clip ^^) master strike that way, just keep on trying to get the good time :)

I understand how the clipping works. Looking at your #1 parse Elitran, some of your clips are .2 seconds after the last tick. Some are faster. That seems reasonable and is what I usually see. But somehow Kishekzun is clipping at .002 or .003 every single time. That's 2 or 3 thousandths of a second. Not tenths or hundredths. Doesn't seem possible to me.

  2. So here is what I found:

After practicing clipping my ravages, my typical APM has gone from 35 to 35.8, with some as high as 36.2. Before, my most common parse was about 3150 with 3255 being my best. Now, almost all of my parses are around 3250-3300. My best was 3379.9 dps (4m56.137sec on dummy) and it had 36.06 APM. So I can say with confidence that just clipping the ravages has added 100-120 dps to my parses.

Next is to try a few crit enhancements. I've been running all power up to this point because I run rage spec on 8 of the hardmode boss fights and don't feel like swapping enhancements everytime I respec.

Thanks again for your help Lordbadtamaru

  3. The APM is so incredibly high is because they are using the clip master strike trick, where you clip it right as the 3rd tick lands. This needs REALLY good latency. I know kisheksun has said he has some 15ms latency -_-

36 is your ballpark average APM.

I think you are right Lordbadtamaru. I went back and looked closer at Kishekzun's parse and he is definitely clipping his master strike/ravage early. Comparing his log to mine with no clip, it appears he saves about .5 to .6 second every master strike. Since the top parses have 18 or 19 master strikes, that's roughly 10 seconds of time he saves by doing it, and that is more than 1 APM for sure.

Now I just need to test and determine if clipping is possible for me without losing that last tick. Thanks for the info.

  4. I've been doing some parsing and comparing to the top vengeance parses from the 2.4 dps leaderboard thread. I top out at about 200 dps lower than the top parses. When I look at the rotations and how hard their abilities are hitting, I'm doing the same thing they are. Then I noticed the APM number on their parses. The top parses are all at 37 APM and mine are almost always 35. When I parse, I always notice substantial animation delays, and sometimes get that bug where the global cooldown triggers, but the ability doesn't happen. I know 5-6 months ago, my ship wasn't as laggy when I parsed. My ping is very stable and stays at 48ms, so I really don't think it's my Internet. Also, when I look at those top parses, they all show up in French on torparse. Does that mean those people are on European servers, and perhaps they are more stable? I'm on The Shadowlands in U.S.

So is it likely the lag I experience on my ship is causing the reduction in APM and is there anything I can do to overcome it? I guess I could try a parse in the middle of the night when nobody is on and see if it makes a difference. I already have my ability queue set to 1 second in my preferences.

  5. Veng is the premier single target spec even if you have the absolute *******st run of bad procs

I don't agree with that statement at all. I have top level gear and parse about the same on the test dummy with both specs. Occasionally when I get lucky with rampage procs and crit rate on ravage, shatter, and impale, I do about 50 dps more in vengeance. But more often than not, my crit and proc rates are low and vengeance is lower. I'll take the consistency and aoe of rage.

When my group started hard mode Fortress and Palace, I was running vengeance on all fights because that's what I've played for the past year. But it didn't take me long to figure out most Palace and Fortress boss fights have either adds or require on-demand burst (clock phase on Brontes, challenges on Raptus, etc...), and for those fights rage is better. I just run rage on all the fights now.

  6. Though I have a 55 assassin, I rarely play it, so I won't comment on that class. My main is a dps juggernaut. Jugg is a lot of fun and in rage spec you can put out a ton of aoe with smash. There's nothing like that feeling of leaping into a trash group of 4-5 mobs, doing one smash, and they all die. Single target, both assassins and juggs are near the bottom on the test dummy dps leaderboard thread, but I've found that jugg dps translates well into operations because most of the fights in Fortress and Palace have some adds. I think your choice should come down to whether you like the play style of a stealth class (assassin) or want the huge aoe burst potential of rage juggernaut.
  7.

My other problem is with relics. I've got an underworld SA relic and thats a granted 1 slot. The second slot bugs me - atm i have Arkanian Boundless Ages, but when i get my set bonus (yeah i dont have it yet ;/) the BA relic cd wont match my Explosive Fuel cd - and that SUCKS, as they synergize perfectly.

Any other interesting options to put in 2nd relic slot so that i wont waste the set bonus? Think i've heard there is a crit proc relic coming in the patch? Would that be worth a shot (if both SA and crit relics proc wont bug out of course).

I think some people use the 4 piece Eliminator merc set because the 4-set bonus is the same and then you don't have to worry about the 2-piece messing with your explosive fuel / boundless ages timing. And if you use legacy armor, then you can mail the set back and forth between your PT and your merc, if you have one.

  8. DPS numbers on certain fights can be misleading. For example, when I saw the numbers for Stormcaller and Firebrand, my first thought was the powertech was probably on Firebrand side and the marauder on Stormcaller. Why does it matter? Well, the Firebrand side has 3 trandoshians under the shield during defensive systems while the other side has two. And because the trandoshans are roughly 30% of the total fight damage, being a dps on Firebrand side props up your numbers. If you strip out the damage to the trandoshians, and just look at the damage to Stormcaller and Firebrand, the marauder was about 1109 dps while the powertech was 1163 dps. Not much difference.
  9. I highly recommend this guide. I started following Aerro's work around 1.2 and never really thought about swapping out mods and enhancements to optimize my gear, until reading his guide. I always went with whatever the gear had to start with. I see a lot of mercs running around on my server with the high endurance black hole pieces, or no agile 26 mods and I know they aren't coming close to their dps potential.
  10. I was having the same issue with my mercenary. I'm dps and it would always have healer checked also, even if I unchecked it the previous time. What solved it for me was queing up, then reopen the queue screen... then uncheck healer and click the box in the bottom left that says "update roles". After I did that, I've run 15-20 random queues and it always has just the dps role selected. It seems to me that it only saves it if you make changes while actually in the queue already.
  11. I play both merc and operative as healers. Both in Rakata gear. My opinion is the operative is much stronger. I really enjoyed the merc before the 1.2 changes to heat, but now the operative is so much easier to manage from a resource perspective. I just respec'd my merc to arsenal because I haven't run across a situation where I'd prefer to have my merc healing instead of the operative.
