I think the last major subscription MMO that went f2p was LOTRO, and they went F2P in about the same amount of time, IIRC.

 

It'll be interesting to see what happens with The Secret World - seems like they have the best bet at staying with a pure subscription-based model.

 

LotRO went about 3 years before going F2P.

"Super servers" sounds suspiciously like "we need a name for the newly merged servers that somehow puts a positive spin on the fact that there aren't nearly enough players to fill our existing servers."

 

Personally, I was hoping for Mega-Servers. This is bull.

 

At the end of the day though, if the plan is actually free transfers to select servers followed by merging the leftover low pop servers it will solve the root issue. Now if they'd only confirm some details so we can stop speculating and start complaining about said details, we'd be set!

[Celebrate Game Update 1.2: Legacy]

30 days free for lvl 50 players...great news for them. Too bad for me...I mean I have a 45, 41, 36, 33 and so on...so i like to play a lot of different characters, just my play style. But I am just as a dedicated player as those with 50's.

 

Not trying to complain too much, but the choice for this reward does not necessarily reward your dedicated players, just those that got to 50....oh well.

What this guy said. I think I've logged in every day since open beta and have no character slots left...just spend time exploring, crafting, etc.

 

Guess it's tethered swimming for me.
