  1. How can you even "finish" a MMO?

    .

Of course you can finish an MMO - at least some types.

To my mind, once you've seen the world, and most of the content, you're pretty much done. All that is left in most mmos is grinding your way up to one or two high end raids... not something I, or even most people, are that interested in.

Once the grind treadmill begins, then you've pretty much 'finished' the MMO to my mind.

A really social endgame would be about building up a tribe, with a base, which needed to be developed and defended - with a player driven economy, and a shifting political landscape. But we seem to be a long way from seeing that kind of game any time soon (beyond EVE).

  2. Why not you go and sub a game that has done them? Like WAR. It has... 4 servers in the entire world left? Or play DCU for free, it has done the same and has... 8 left or something like that. Or RIFT, on reduced subscription currently, that has closed down approximately 100 servers and whose most servers are still Light through the day...

Server merges are not a cure, they make the disease worse.

SWTOR needs new marketing campaigns, not server merges.

I played both, enjoyed them for what they were, then left. (For all it's faults, I had a lot of fun in WAR) They did not see po pdecreases because of server mergers.. WAR saw decreases because the endgame pvp was broken, and Rift because people played it, finished it, and moved on.

SWTOR was fun enough, but at level 42, there are rarely more than 10 players on any of the world's I am on. (Gardens of Talia). 10. I am on a pvp server, and was looking forward to some open world pvp. NO such luck - I have seen about three republic players since I started playing the game.

I would be happy to transfer, or for my server to be merged, but right now I dont feel its worth paying a sub for this.

No drama. No grand statements. It just is what it is.

  3. Server merges just lead to lower player numbers and more server merges. It's a death spiral from which there will be no escape. It just sends the wrong message.

Hmm - thanks for the clarification.

On the basis of this, I have decided to cancel , because I realise that there will be no server mergers, and I don't feel like playing a single player MMO.

  4. I understand that orange items are meant to be useful for as long as you want them - by upgrading mods - but I also get the impression that they have certain base stats.

An orange blaster, for example, has a certain damage range. The mods only seem to affect the stat bonuses...

Do the base stats change as you add in more powerful mods? Thanks!

  5. So, a little while back I accidentally purchased the imperial dancer's bottom in Kaas - I thought I was looking at it, but boom, I bought it wiping out all my money.

Discovered there was no way of undoing a purchase. Put in a ticket - no response.

Given that it seems I have lost the money, can anyone tell me what I can actually do with these trousers?

I am an imperial agent (lvl 15), so I wear medium armor, and even my companion wears heavy armor (these are light). Is there any value I can get out of them at all?

  6. Hmm.. I wish I had made this mistake with an item that hadn't broken my bank! ho hum.. live n learn.

Although I never really understood this as a design decision... there is certainly no roleplay element to clicking something wrong and buying it by accident.

  7. I accidentally bought some imperial dancer's bottom from a trader. Being level 11, this wiped out pretty much every penny I had.

(I bought them accidentally, because I thought I was looking at theme - I ctrl-clicked.. boom, into my inventory they go).

I could not see any way of undoing the purchase. I have no idea what they even are!

Is there any way to undo a purchase?

    Thanks!

  8. So, in a quest I meet someone who is onto me - I bed him in order to get away without being exposed, and the consequence is 50 points to the light side... crazy stuff!

Any other surprising outcomes people have come across?

  9. From what I see, and am beginning to understand, is that in this game there is no actual choice when taking moral decisions - to be effective you have to go all bad, or all good, otherwise you get penalised by not getting access to any gear of the opposite alignment?

Also, is it feasible to be a light side empire? And dark side republic? Or is it really your side determines your morality?
