I recently levelled a scoundrel and had a chance to compare him to my infiltration shadow in terms of gameplay. Many of the fundamental abilities seem similar yet require double the workload to utilize effectively even if they come with additional benefits. The "anytime" attack is not really anytime and it requires you to on top of your game to maintain the dps flow but it does much more damage than clairvoyant strike. And scrapper has the capacity for delayed burst with the blood boiler which is the class' biggest problem imo. It's a great ability and together with sucker punch it can stack for 25-30k damage in a split second.... if it goes off. It's very unpredictable and that's an issue. If the ability worked the same as thermal detonator it would be a different ballgame for burst.

considering how much I enjoy talking smack to the opposites it has the potential for making things..... awkward.
-
Infiltration/deception is excellent. You can chain autocrits all day long and have near 50% crit chance on all of your melee abilities. Combine that with your cc and the ability to bug out at will and it's an excellent spec. No clue how to burst in dot spec but I have seen people do well with it.

I had a similar premonition when I instructed him to off Oggurobb. Sorry doc, my bad!

In my experience playing against the class, the more successful players are very mindful about their positioning and target picking. They tend to occupy themselves with overextenders and try to look inconspicuous behind other players.
-
While I took a couple of long breaks from this game in the last 4+ years in all the time I did play they never messed up this badly. This is the worst patch day **** up I have ever seen in this game.
-
How much if any? In a previous thread someone pointed out the fact that the class relies on instants for most of its burst. That said there are still plenty of casted abilities not the least of which are the heals.
-
Did they ever fix this? I can't figure out.
-
They are offering a cartel pistol which is the exact copy of that quest reward. This is underhanded bs.
-
The pistol is the reward from Corso at the end of Act 1 if you give him Torchy back. Somehow I didn't get mine. Anyone else had that issue?

I disagree every DPS should be able to solo a healer!
Yeah it should take time to kill them but the end result is they're dead.
Every DPS should be able to solo a tank! (tanks should have little to no DPS)
Again should take time to kill them but end result is they're dead
DPS vs TANK & HEALER should end in a tie
DPS vs DPS should end in a tie
DPS vs DPS and a tank should end in DPS & TANK WIN
I would argue that if your going to have TANK/DPS that these should be weak vs DPS because they are not pure DPS and they are not pure tank. Instead we have the opposite TANK/DPS do way to much DPS and can take way to much damage thereby negating the need for pure DPS.
I do agree that Deception is a complete joke now vs other DPS take operative stab stab stab stab stab dead. Half my attacks are dodged or healed through( which is complete bs again either DPS or heals not both) and most my stuns are broken and I got 3. Its moot cause Bioware doesn't care, sure ain't worth sub though.
Personally, I liked the tanking system in Warhammer Online. In my opinion a tank should win against a dps every time assuming the dps sticks around long enough to get tickled to death by the tank. And yes, considering the benefits of guarding in SWTOR, a burst dps should be able to take down a healer solo.

you have to be F*ng kidding me. sin, sniper, merc...all higher burst than pt. pt is on par with mara. they're the most balanced dps to defense in the game. the fact that you'd say pyro or ap pt is op is ridiculous.
the rest of you, quit crying about dcds. the dcds on this class are fine. what you want is an iwin button. a point and laugh barrier. look. that's bad. that's bad for the game. there's nothing wrong with PT dps. there are two specs. they're both viable. the work differently. one's easier to play than the other but they're both viable. you're lookng at a crazy jugg dcd and crying cuz you don't have similar BS on your toon too. you're looking at overtuned sins played well and saying damn, why can't I do that too? you're getting torn up by snipers who are placed well and getting support from their team. guess what? that's not your poor dcds. that's your poor positioning and poor team support/strat. yes. you can and will be rock, paper, scissored in yolo simply by team comp. but there is nothing fundamentally wrong with VG/PT dps. they're the most balanced class in the freaking game. they can do everything above average. and pyro is a ridiculously easy spec to play effectively. no other class in the game can boast that. I take the weaker player's side almost all the time. look at my post history. I main PT/VG. there's nothing WRONG with the class. all you can legitimately ask for are QoL improvements and, frankly, there are much larger class balance issues.
TL; DR: VGs are balanced. a couple abils of other classes are a little over the top. stop asking to be over the top yourself. you're the most balanced class in the game. everyone SHOULD drop when focused. the fact that you do is not an inherent fault of class balance.
I don't know about AP but pyro is op with the best burst potential of any class including infiltration. It just takes a bit longer to set up and is highly dependent on battle focus. The softness makes up for it. Pyro is not quite where it was way back when but it's getting there. The only class that is more potent is the jug and that's only due to the H2F which allows them to outlast the pyro. Jugs damage is still crap relatively speaking.

The problem with ops which is not there with mercs and to a lesser degree sorcs is their endless power supply for throwing out instant heals (incl hots). This is faceroll healing and should be changed. That said, the dps in this game are getting further buffs so the situation may change.
-
Playing mostly rep side on Shadowlands I habitually lose my **** due to frustration overflow and hope that my borderline psychotic verbal abuse discourages at least some bads from queuing. Sadly it's not unlike draining an ocean with a spoon.
-
Right now? Any jugg because of broken overpowered ED.
After that? Deception sin probably. New stuns and same stupid burst.
Jug followed by pyro. And the only reason why veng jugs are good is because of their 3 lives thing since their dps is still meh. Given subpar teammates these 2 are the only classes imo which make a substantial contribution of their own. An assassin is crap without a decent team, something you would know if you played one. I have all 3 in pvp equipment and stick to my shadow because playing the other 2 feels like cheesing.
-
I target assault/pyro preferentially due to their combination of very high dps and softness. Their dps at this time is op and is getting further boosts. If you ignore them your team sets up for a loss.

I alsi think that the consular story is underrated but consider act 1 to be the best with its "karma is a *****" tilt. Its ending is sadly completely un-epic in terms of the final boss fight. The unquisitor ending blows it out of the water in that regard. Loved the trooper ending which goes to show that light side and common sense are not one and the same.

the otp took an unusual amount of time to show up (but within the 15 min).
-
Let's make it so the top tier talents in the infiltration tree are worth speccing into and the problem is solved. CS/VS is horrendous in pvp.
-
The one thing the new map.has going for it imo is the fact that it runs much faster win or lose. It needs to be rebalanced in a number of ways on of which is decreasing the respawn barrier timer. For such a fast wz it is obscenely long.
-
I don't know why people ignore crit in pvp. I usually get ~200 +/- 50 rating and when I went near full power on my shadow I instantly regretted it. You get a single autocrit which while nice is not enough to burst someone getting good support. In pvp burst>sustained.

17 times later, still no Quesh Huttball pop.
It is not working for me.... :/
I am not so lucky, then.
-
Feels like it's set at 50% pop chance and it often comes in waves of 3+ pops in a row. This crap needs to stop. Even if people thought it were the best thing since sliced bread, they are tired of it already.

I chuckle when I see an someone using VS/CS. Often means I won't have to work too hard.
Is Sorc DPS OP?
