  1. I have no issue with the water. It is easy enough to get and everyone can make good use of it. Like someone before said, if a vanishes while fighting you, use it yourself. Overall it is just another aspect of pvp you have to get used to and learn how to overcome/utilize it.

Sure, I can probably make more use of it compared to other classes. But lets face it, a shadow/assassin can only vanish every 2 minutes if he specs for it.

  2. There is really no need for addons of any kind.

Once BW allows addons they are giving up a large amount of control on how content will be developed. Because they will have to take existing addons into account on what they can do to provide challenging encounters.

Of course they are not forced to do that but if they don't every group with addons will likely breeze through the content, while others play as intended. If they do, they are basicly forcing everyone to use the addons on which they based the mechanics.

I rather have them include the features by themselves and not hand out that kind of control to players.

  3. If you say arenas in WoW were great and awesome. Then why are you here? If you want to play arenas play WoW.

If you want proper PvP roll republic and get a group together to ambush the zerg on Ilum. Once you can put the fear of god into the zerg with just 4 to 8 people, then you can brag about how good you are in PvP.

Fighting in a controlled environment like arenas requires lots of training and repetition (which some may call experience). Fighting against the odds in an uncontrolled environment requires a lot more, good tactics for a start and strategy if you want to accomplish something. Good examples for games where it works/ed are DAOC and Eve online.

  4. Why are you against gear for arena? I think arena should provide the same gear as warzones, maybe exclusive mounts just for arena however to spice things up.

I did say gear with an impact on other areas of the game. A special mount with no advantage what-so-ever (besides looks) over a normal mount is fine. Anything that even a stat increase of +1 over something available outside the arena is a no go.

I wouldn't even grant valor to participants in the arenas but rather see a new stat implemented, lets call it glory. Just to ensure, that the arena has no impact on the rest of the game at all. Because once it does have an impact on the rest of the game it sure goes downhill. Which has been seen in quite a few games.

All those so called elitist pvp players only want e-sport and e-p**n, they don't need any extra gear as incentive. Extra gear only serves the purpose of drafting people into the arena for the purpose of obtaining said gear, not to do the so-called pvp. It is not about spicing things up. Most of the people who want gear through arenas are a) players who just want more gear or b) players who want arenas and hope to score easy kills against those who just want the gear.

  5. Nope. Arena is not PvP, has nothing to do with real combat or real game mechanics and is basically a glorified metagame in its own limited rule set and world

People wishing for arena are all WoW players (which, admit - looks bad at your resume, and mixing it with playing Arena even worse. You guys dont understand that if you start any topic with " i played WoW and got XXX rank" you loose all credibility. At most people would laught at you, even WoW player themselves dont take you seriously)).

They want it in other games NOT because they want another form of PvP - but because they want metagame from WoW in same exact form to be present in SWTOR - and that combined with rewards and ranking system (otherwise you can just go out and 3vs3 all you like, my guild is running tournaments like that in BucsDen already)).

Its amusing to always read the claims that people opposing arena have no skill - possibly, considering most people never even tried it or cared about it, which makes you just as skilled as say... proffessional Toe Wrestlers, their sport requires a lot of skill and dedication too, and everyone who is not good at it or doesnt care about it is obviously a noob.

If you want PvP - do world PvP. I know you will tell it sucks, but i shoot your argument back at you and tell that you suck and cant stand the heat and just want controlled enviroment where all you need to do is learn the rotation and synergy and circle around pillar.

If you want Arena so much - you are welcome to go back to WoW. As i heard it still does have it.

Otherwise - dont come to different monastry with your own rules.

    I completely agree with you.

  6. I'd like a 150% speeder under the condition that characters would have to complete a proper quest line for it. Lets say about as time consuming as leveling from 50-60 in Kunark, the first expansion for EQ. That way it actually is an accomplishment. :D

Overall, I think the speed of the speeders is perfectly fine. The planets are far to small to have higher speeds.

  8. Personally, I find the current cost acceptable, especially due to your reasoning. Without those arguments I would have preferred a long line of missions (equivalent to a bonus series) to be able to reset your skill points. I think it is more then a little annoying that almost everything is handed to players on a silver platter.

There is far to much easy to acquire, starting with reaching level 50 which is far to easy. On the other hand, I can see why not more quests or areas are available. If you want to have full voice acting, you have to compromise and I can live with that.

  9. The amount of loading screens is annoying, I agree.

The overall time to travel between 'planets' seems quite alright though.

In the game you mentioned the world seemed really small, because you could get anywhere in almost no time. I enjoyed travel in Everquest, where it actually meant traveling. There were opportunities and sometimes trouble on the way. In modern games, you just go there with no trouble at all, it just became a time sink and not something you could really experience. SWTOR is finally making it a bit more interesting again, although, I don't like speeder points or binding points. Much less the ability to call a shuttle (quick travel) when you are underground or standing next to an enemy flak cannon.

And if you only play with people or help them because it is convenient and doesn't cost you a lot of time. Maybe you should think about your premises in social interactions ....

  10. Ranking is fine, arenas or something similar aren't. I'd rather have more warzones and maybe the ability to queue for warzones with an ops group vs another ops group but - and this is a big BUT - no cross-server pvp.
  11. I think it all depends on what you are planning to do. Personally I like the tank specs a lot more then the pure dps specs. Therefor I went for the survivalist gear set. The first set bonus - reducing Spinning Kick cooldown to 20 seconds - is quite nice in pve too. Until I get better gear, I will keep two pieces for instances and ops, just to have that benefit.
  12. I am against arenas for one simple reason. Bioware will most likely include rewards, that have an impact on pve, warzone pvp and world pvp.

If only moddable armor (with no mods included, or god forbid set bonuses), mounts (without special effects), and similar non-game-changing rewards would be available, then I am all for it. A nice ranking system for the arenas, etc.

Arenas for the pure measurement of skill or rather e***n are fine, but keeping anything from being useful inside or outside of the arenas out of it. Otherwise it will just be another place people will have to farm to stay competetive in other areas of the game. One has to keep in mind, that "skill" in the arena environment means nothing in real pvp though. If people want to show off the l33t skills they claim to have let them do it against other people who share the same needs. But then again, you don't really have to play swtor for that, do you?

And since I am quite positive, that loot, pots, armor and weapons, and who knows what else would be included in arena-pvp, I am 100% against it. I rather see Bioware fixing and expanding the current pvp environment and once that works properly, then implement something that will cause even worse effects for the game.

  13. It is a stat, that is used to differentiate between pvp gear and pve gear.

Pvp gear should not be used for pve, therefor the stats are worse but gets expertise for pvp.

Pve gear should not be used for pvp, better stats overall, but without expertise still inferior to pvp gear.

(The idea to have a pve-stat makes a lot more sense though, but since it is less trouble to implement a new stat on the pvp-sets instead of all the pve-gear, they went this way.)

  14. Is there any reason to go for kinetic ward in the kinetic/balance hybrid build (23/0/18) for PvP?

There are several threads about how useless shields and defensive stats are in PvP due to the fact that only white damage is affected by them.

So in my opinion, for the build Kinetic Ward is a wasted point am I right?

In big fights I still use up my Kinetic Ward before the cooldown is finished, so it does have an impact. I have been looking but so far I haven't come up with a better distribution for that point.

  15. Alright, I did mess up my numbers quite badly. :o

However, I think that being able to buy champion bags is fine and needed, since they allow you to get your Centurion or Champion gear, to become competetive in pvp at level 50.

But the Battlemaster Gear is the final tier of pvp gear. In my opinion it should have been a hell of a lot harder to get it in the first place. Especially since the increase is quite minor.
