  1. Well, thank you for your .02 cents. :)

In that case, all I can say is you must be enjoying your eternal war with the unsubbers and who am I to judge? I am still here too.

But at least I have the integrity to state my actual opinion. Anyone who has seen more than 2 of your posts can see through your act. And yes, I will call you out on any thread I see with your mummer's act until you make a stand.

What else have I to do between Diablo 3 server outages and my fiance's nightly pregnancy comas?

  2. I have endeavored to be neither "spinning" nor "hating". I have always strived to present information from both points of view, and on these forums, it usually means adding the positive side to all the negative that's already here. Like I need to express the negative side of things. What's usually missing is the positive side, the pros if you will, that is necessary for a well-rounded view of issues.

Who can deny when endeavoring to fully understand an issue, one must weigh both the cons AND the pros. The pros are rarely considered on this forum.

My comments are, for the most part, intended to be considered along with the negative that is already present.

Because if you have followed my comments like you say you have, even today, you'll see that when only or overly positive is presented, I'll show the other side of that, too.

It would seem to me that you are quite staunch in your views on the positive side of things despite your attempts to show the contrary. In fact, your facade has cracked more than once. I don't like the word "fanboy" but there is no doubt whatsoever that you have a stance and that stance is in swtor's corner. As i said, this is fine and reasonable if you love the game. What I take exception with is you hiding behind false objectivity. If you are a supporter then you must have your reasons. If i loved this game I sure as hell would hope that things arent as bleak as most of us think. Admit that you WANT us to be wrong. Comes off way less trolly that way. My .02 cents.

  3. What the heck? All I did was quote a sentence out of an article and express that it was interesting.

How the hell did you get the rest of your post out of what I said???

That was a "body of work" response to you. Not just to your post in general. You have posted more positive spin to the news coming to light on the status of this game than anyone on the forums by far. Unless you are disputing this don't pretend like you don't know what I am talking about. Anyone who has followed the threads pertaining to the sub losses and the lay offs knows this. Don't be disingenuous. You are better than that. Respond to the post or ignore it.

    Edit: For the layman- dis·in·gen·u·ous/ˌdisinˈjenyo͞oəs/

    Adjective:

Not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does.

  4. And "a whopping 750 are assigned to product development, which spans WoW, StarCraft, Diablo, and the still-unannounced "Project Titan" MMO"...

    Interesting indeed hehe.

Is this what y'all are hanging your hat on these days? Why do the folks who supposedly love this game so much spend all their time in the forums downplaying the never ending stream of bad news coming from this game? The rest of us are just using whats left of our worthless sub.

What are YOU doing? Loving the game is ok but you arent on the payroll pal. How many posts have you made in the last couple weeks trying to convince others that this game is going strong?

What is your stake in this? And don't say your usual nonsense about counterbalancing negativity. I am sure your time is worth more than that.

My theory? You are a zealot who hates the troll fest the forums have become (understandable but bioware community management's fault for their handling of 1.2) and are desperate for the trolls you despise to be wrong.

If you were really that confident you wouldn't be beating your head against the wall like this for the second week straight. You aren't on the pay roll so GO PLAY the game you seem to think is so successful. I'll be here spending the rest of my sub $ warning others not to get burned like I did. I can admit that I have an axe to grind. You honest enough to do the same?

    lol.

  5. Quote:

On Sage/Sorc healing, from James Ohlsen Interview

We've actually answered this question publicly several times, but it seems when players don't like the answer, they keep asking hoping it will change. The fact is, Sorcerer and Sage healers were in a position where they could completely bypass resource management, which is intended to be a large factor of successful healing gameplay. In PvE, they're right where we want them. In PvP, there are ways to counter the health hit you take in managing your resources, and short of telling players what to do and when to do it, we're comfortable with how things are playing right now. That's not to say that we're "done," and things won't change again. But healers are actually closer to target than they've ever been in the past.

    TL;DR - seer/sorc were OP

    Yeah.... this was true

In PvP specifically, I think it would be a fine argument to make that we've increased the minimum skill required to play a Sorcerer or Sage healer, but currently we're not buying that they are ineffective or have less potential than other healers. What I am concerned about and have my eyes on, specifically, is that this skill requirement is too high for comfort. The difficulty in addressing this issue comes from finding just the right way to improve ease of use and accessibility without affecting throughput and resource management. Again, we're never "done," and it's likely that future changes to Sorcerer and Sage healers will aim at addressing this specific issue, but it's extremely unlikely that we'll go "whoops, we went too far" and undo what we've already done. So don't keep asking if that's what you're hoping to hear.

    TL;DR L2P

This fellow really should have had the sense not to give an interview and say something like this about players. I'll be interested to see what they come up with to "improve ease of use and accessibility without affecting throughput and resource management" Because as it sits right now the AC basically doesn't have a free cast ability that can be used in PvE or PvP. Which is a real problem for our resource management that has existed with the AC since launch. We are ranged classes - with a melee free cast. We need a proc from a seer talent to a free cast of a ranged DPS ability, or a free ranged cast that does some rational free cast damage.

Since launch I've felt that the damage mitigation of heavy armor & the larger free damage from Hammer Shot made medic troopers OP. But only a few troopers ever felt that way. Does that mean that all the rest needed to L2P? Absolutely not. Most seers are having resource management problems now, does that mean that they need to L2P? Absolutely not.

Sure sages always posted higher healing numbers, but if you're posting high numbers it doesn't mean your a good healer. It just means that your team took a whole lot of damage, and probably participated in a standoff at some point that the tanks & DPS should have shut down. That's it. And that's what wrong with the "metrics" that BW seems to be obsessed with. If your team is good at focussing down enemies in PvP or if your team uses CC correctly in PvE, your healing numbers are going to suck, eventhough your team won the fight. That's got nothing to do with you being a good or a bad healer.

I really wonder how seers compare with the other classes when you look at more than just our healing... Does our healing compensate for our lack of dps? How does the healing throughput of dps classes suffer, in exchange for their better dps. Because my dps trooper alt can tank and spank a mob better with nothing more than hammer shot for heals and a dps companion tanking, than my sage ever could with Qyzen. In truth, all 3 of my alts are EZ mode compaired to what I went through with my seer while leveling. Fights last literally half as long. And I very rarely feel challenged or wipe, unless I'm just being stupid. I somehow doubt this is a L2P issue, for that reason. I still dont' mind the changes that they made in 1.2 to my seer. But I'm in the minority. And I'm playing the class in a way that is pretty foreign to what I was expecting when I picked the class. It doesn't bother me at all, but I can undrstand how many people would have picked a different class if they had known ahead of time what they were in for.

I love your attitude. Enjoy the two or three people you'll be playing this with when all the 6 month subs drop off just in time for GW2.

  6. Honestly, if you unsubbed, why would they cater to you? You are not a paying customer.

Maybe at some point down the road they'll do like most MMO's and offer incentives for old players to come back (free game time, mounts, faster xp, etc), but you can't expect them to take into consideration players that are unsubbed when releasing new features.

If you are around when the free transfers are out, cool. If not, you are welcome to pay the $25 or whatever for a transfer when you do come back. They've already given people a free month of game time, which is way more than any other MMO that I've heard of. Well, the latest Final Fantasy one just stopped charging people entirely after basically admitting their game sucked, but that's different.

Hilariously, we unsubbers are still reported as paying customers to the shareholders.

  7. Unfortunately, that's not the truth. Healers needed adjustments. The problem there is that they went way too far.

    .

I agree with this statement. I am speaking of the nerfs they implemented and the team having too much pride to admit they made a mistake (as well as not having the stones to silence the folks in the dps camp who are still cheer leading the changes)

  8. The 1.2 balance changes coupled with the delay of ranked warzones have put this game in jeapordy of extinction.

This may sound wrong but this is why you never listen to the masses (especially dps..they complain about healers in EVERY MMO) when it comes to balance. Bioware showed their inexperience with the healing nerfs and they are paying the price.

  9. If its just the programmers who caused all the bugs ever new patch then I have no issues with them firing them...

But to be fair every Design team lays people off after a lunch of a MMO.... If anything Bioware kept them around a lot longer then most MMO companies do...

I love seeing the fans come up with excuses for the obvious freefall...so entertaining.

  10. Why is this guy important and why should I care about his opinions on balance?

From his "Gaming History" page it looks like he has played mmos for about 20 years as a PvPer, yet never been a top level player (or even high level).

For anyone to claim they know absolutely what is balanced and what is not, especially when there is not currently any ranked so we can see what the best do best with is arrogant at best.

I followed the guy in Rift. Dudes a beast.

  11. Cry me a river complaining healers, tell you what, you aint that bad.

Try playing a tank spec in tank PVP gear.

Try playing a tank spec in dps gear ^^

In seriousness, don't worry. We healers (along with many many others the community is so fond of telling to leave) are leaving in droves. Perhaps when this 300 million dollar mmo has 250k subs people will look back and wonder if compromise might have been better than appeasing the unwashed dps masses.

  12. If your operative is a healer and thinks healers need any kind of buffing then he must be an exceptionally poor player. They are right at the top of the food chain at the momoent.

My apologies. "Op" in this case meant original post. I realize the acronym shouldve read: OP.

And yea, to be honest I don't know a lot about Operative healing. My Operative healer is only level 30 but I had no problems with him even before the patch.. /shrug..

  13. Quite funny. I rerolled to Sage from Scoundrel after 1.2. Quit a class that got buffed to play a class that got nerfed, and I'm loving it.

Sage healers were OP prior to 1.2. Everyone knew it. Some people are spitting the dummy as a result of the rebalancing. I guess some people can't handle an even playing field. ;)

My Op concedes that healers needed a tweak. I take exception with fundamental changes to the basic playstyle of the class/role and the EXTENT to which the nerfs were administered. You might want to try reading.

    Thanks

  14. Healing is over powered, deal with it. I play operative and merc healers, and assassin tank as well as marauder. Healing in pvp is completely broken STILL, its unchallenged, and easy to be both more useful to your team and allows you to throw in low dps in between self heals to kill any class 1v1.

Don't bs a bs'er. I play the overpowered role: healer. It needs nerfed STILL in pvp. And the game didn't lose subs because "healers" were "picked" on.

I have dealt with it. Read my sig.

    And I'm not alone.

  15. Dear Original Poster,

    1. You are insulting all the DPS here by asserting that Healers pre1.2 were not OP.

    2. You are trying to imply that the number of players that unsubbed from this game was somehow correlated to the 1.2 changes. (which by no means should be true)

    3. You are trying to make your opinions sound like that of the majority, while in actuality, you and those who unsubbed are still the minority, there are more ppl playing the game than those that left.

    4. You don't believe that healers are doing fine in pvp post 1.2? Here have a look at this voidstar final score http://i47.tinypic.com/16l07xw.jpg. This sort of matches SHOULD NOT EXIST. LOOK AT THE FRICKING NUMBER OF DEATHS ON BOTH SIDES.

And before you comment anything: BOTH SIDES WERE FULL GUILD PREMADES, both communicating over team speak. Was the republic team better? Yes of course, but by no means should any premade team, regardless of skill be able to keep everyone alive so easily and effortlessly like that when our team tried to focus kill their cross healing healers.

So pls, if you find the cross-healing trolol BS fun, thank you for quitting SWTOR. We don't need you here. You can go and ruin D3 and GW2 with your views of game balance.

I don't really find raw end game stats to mean very much and if BW is balancing based on those sort of metrics it explains a lot.

As for the subs..the game has 2.4 million sales and 1.3 million subs reported. Whats funny about what you said here is that this 1.3 million includes people like myself man. I have a sub active for about 90 more days so I am living proof that you are going by some very inflated numbers in your assessment. Protip: The quarterly report did not deduct folks with active accounts who have unsubbed their accounts. You have not even begun to see how many people are leaving.

And this is all BEFORE the major competition arrived: Diablo 3, Tera, Guild Wars 2.

As for 1.2's impact? I don't think it is the only reason people unsubbed but it certainly played a part. Unless Bioware releases its "unsub surveys" (the ones you fill out when you cancel your account) we really won't have anything to go on other than the people who stick around to post and share their reasons (like me).

You are right about one thing though: Those in favor of the patch 1.2 balance changes are the majority. DPS are always the majority in every mmo. Thing is though, majority only matters if you are willing to lose the folks who strongly disagree. Compromise and incremental change is all I have called for here.

Bottom line: After 1.2 was released 25% of the playerbase up and left. Why? Your opinion is as good as mine but Im voting for correlation and possibly causation.

  16. You're not even trying. Tell ya what, I just recommend rerolling instead of giving you any advice. Makes it easier for both of us. A little hint though: Your questions reveal that you haven't understood the concept of the whole kiting thing. No, my Hot can't outheal the damage of melees bashing my face. Now guess what? I'm avoiding the damage. Duh?¿

Think about that one. Meh, now I gave you advice anyway. I'm just too nice :/

I guess for me the problem is that I never signed up for a class that had to run away whenever they get attacked.

Nothing in Bioware's marketing of the sorc or our pre 1.2 experience prepared us for this fundamental change in play style. Had i known I would have went with a class that isn't forced to flee from combat even 1v1. Don't see how you can't empathize with that.

  17. I suggest you go to another server with a pop, excuses about a server being dead is old news and other people understood what to do and is now on higher pop servers.

What is your excuse for staying?

Don't blame Bioware for the lack of understanding servers went dead almost a month ago and people decided to go to higher pop servers.

It's that easy go to another server, or suffer a lower pop server.

Either way choose is up to you, not Bioware.

Sorry. Not all of us are crazy enough to pay bioware to repeat the same content again by leveling up our same toon to 50 again.

  18. (related to posts on page 5)

All I did was criticize the OP's methods for coming to his conclusions and his credibility in sharing them. More posters on the forums could do with this, btw. Sorry if you feel singled out, I just decided to read this thread today. I don't see how you could get that I'm "mad" or "emotionally worked up" other than the last 3 snide sentences I had in my post (couldn't resist, I love calling people out on my server). Whatever I play is inconsequential because, if you noticed, I never actually discussed the viability of healing or made an actual statement about it. I was simply pointing out (rather sarcastically) that you (the OP) are not the best person to really comment on things like "high-level play" or "skill caps" so you should stop on those fronts

What's your point, though? That I'm in support of every change that has gone into the game or how BW handles user feedback and class balance? You're assuming wrong, but that wasn't even the purpose of my post.

I'm not attacking anyone for speaking their opinion, but for acting like they're speaking for all healers. It's the same way when Marauders that say the class is fine make people assume that they're speaking for me. I'm not arguing that healers like the OP are having a hard time adjusting, but are you really closed-minded enough to agree that all healers in the game are suffering/not having fun like the OP is?

Whatever I play is has no bearing on my previous post. I don't care enough about changes to the game to warrant "supporting" or "not supporting" them. I play along while I'm still having fun. If I ever stop having fun, I'm not gonna go on the forums and start talking about "high-level play" because I know I have no clue about it like Mr. OP here. See the above about me getting "worked up". lol

I think your argument is fallacious and I'll use a sports analogy to explain why:

I am not an NFL player. In fact, my football "career" ended like most people's (in high school.) Despite the fact that I do not play the sport at the highest level of play I still feel that my years as a fan and in small part as a player give me a reasonable understanding of the game. I can understand and make the conjecture for instance, that rules changes which limit a defenders ability to make contact with wide receivers will lead to a more prolific passing game across the board and would in fact make it easier for wide receivers to be successful while making it harder for cornerbacks/safeties, etc.

You do not have to be an NFL player or coach to draw the above conclusion. You just need some knowledge of the game and the ability to apply said knowledge to your prediction.

Time will tell if I am wrong but my opinion is not invalidated simply because I don't have an SWTOR trophy case to show you.
