  1. Hi PTS team,

I have a problem with the download. I started downloading the PTS, but for some reason it downloaded more than 100GB of data in the Bioware folder. I noticed just in time to avoid catastrophe with my laptop, because it used all the remaining space in my hard drive.  I had to uninstall SWTOR and I am currently installing it again from scratch.

I thought the most this game needed was 38GB (more or less)?

This also happened to me previously when we upgraded the game to 7.2, but it happened with the production version of the game, not the PTS. I resolved it by uninstalling and installing again. I mentioned this in the forums back then, but with this, I can confirm the bug is NOT fixed.

    This is an actual problem.

I thought I was attacked by a virus, but it was actually the 7.2 update, which downloaded more than 100gb. Thankfully I stopped it before it downloaded further.

I had to uninstall SWTOR and that cleared my C drive.

I have installed the game again, and this time it downloaded without problems (about 49GB as noted by the Properties tab of the filesystem, for the folder Bioware).

For me, the download was a tad under 25GB, and took about six minutes. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I expect that more information might help diagnose the issue. For the record, I am using the regular launcher (not Steam) and was not one of the people who had issues with the recent changes to the launcher.

I am using the regular Launcher. I was playing fine yesterday and my laptop was fine as well.

  4. First thing's first: pile driver is fine and you can even run ion cannon with it if you want iirc so I don't get the argument that it makes ion cannon worthless.

I do think you're onto something here; you're just focused on the wrong thing. The problem is that you do not get good feedback that someone is shooting at you with blasters vs missiles. Missiles are crazy obvious and it's impossible to miss it. Blasters? Most players don't notice, and they die quickly for it, piledriver or not.

I wouldn't mind seeing changes to the feedback you get when someone shoots you. Some way to make it more obvious would go a long way toward helping new players out.

I pay a lot of attention to the feedback, and I think that's not it.

I know of a couple of folks that take this to such a level, that it almost feels like a one shot. I just don't get it.

I even doubt that those defending pile driver actually use it the way it is being used by some people. One thing is to pile drive and hit a few times, quite another is to melt people in one shot or 2 shots (or at least that's what it looks like).

  5. So I did it again on SM with the new patch, again with a group with full 330 gear on. So with the new patch the bombs damage was increased so that meant we couldn't ignore it which is great. now having said that, I think there is way too much damage going out for SM. for being in 330 gear, we are dying way too much. the lasers and floor pits do so much damage that the healers can't keep up. Most people will not be doing this in 330 gear so it will probably be much harder for them. I also think that the cast times for the bombs is a bit too tight. if you can make it last a bit longer that would be perfect.

one other suggestion to make this fight better on SM is maybe have the floor pits wait a couple more seconds before they activate. Sometimes it feels like I have no time at all to move before it activates. maybe also make some of the red circles you get from grenades a bit smaller on SM, so people don't have to worry about spreading out as much.

Not really sure if the length of the fight felt good since we couldn't get past first bomb phase that often.

Overall I still really enjoy this fight, and think its a great opener for the ops, I just think that in its current form on SM, it is too over tuned. lowering the damgae going out to players and maybe lowering the health more on some of the adds and dps will make it better.

edit: So another thing to add after watching so footage of someone else do it on twitch. i think this op fight might be great if it was more of a survival focus that it was a huge dps check. I like the idea of having to go through 2 phases of bombs before the boss goes into burn mode to kill everyone. problem is that I have seen some pulss of people in 330 get to that phase around 50%, and dying at 41%. if boss had lower health, that survival feeling of a fight could really work.

I dis the fight yesterday and i agree with this assessment. It’s wayyy too hard for SM, we wiped and wiped. Feels like HM level. But mechanics are really fun

  6. I wanted to kindly ask the devs to please look at this. It's really changed the game, and I only see the same people winning every match with this exploit. It is cheap, unskillful, and there aren't any defenses against it. It also completely invalidates other weapon options like Ion cannon.... why bother when you can just exploit doubleshotting people.

    See a working example here.

Nothing needs to happen. But if devs acknowledge that it will be reviewed, that is a start.

  7. Clearly, they should be unlocked too, because on the tooltip it's written that they can be unlocked. Otherwise, there would be no mention to the unlocking.

The Underworld Exchange was created as an alternative way to purchase Cartel Market Items using Cartel Certificates. At the beginning, the items from the Cartel Market and the Underworld Exhange were the same and you could mix and match (I think it didn't work that well even then), but, at some point, they changed it and they made two different kind of items. However, the new items' tooltips still say they can be unlocked, and people are spending Certificates thinking that's the case.

Moreover, the get the reputation needed to buy the items, people spent money, since that's a Cartel Market reputation.

It would be a scam to remove the unlocking property from those items.

    EXACTLY:rak_03:

  8. we have a big problem in GSF, where a handful of players have mastered the Pile Driver maneuver so well, it basically becomes a one-shot mechanism. This causes a massive imbalance in the game, where these same players just play the game all day, and farm the frags and commendations. Most importantly, it is very frustrating, I can't defend my ship against these shots. My only defense is to copy the strategy...

Please, FIX THIS. I am baffled that even though I have played this game for years, my experience is trumped by a broken game mechanic.

  9. In the SOA fight (EV operation), if you fall from the platforms, your character's body becomes invisible and you can't be revived. That means, after the fight, if everyone loots and leaves the area, you won't be able to retrieve your loot.

Even if you go to medcenter, you would have to run back, jump into SOA's fight area and die, and ONLY THEN, will your body be visible for others to rez. However, this will only work if you have friends willing to wait. Otherwise, your loot is lost.

  10. The Underworld Exchange vendors in the fleet sell several old cartel market items. Some of these items, upon purchase, will get unlocked in collections, while others don't.

    For example:

    1. Diplomat's Meditation HoverChair (unlocked in collections)

    2. Mira's Jacket (NOT unlocked in collections).

    3. Imperator's Command Hoverchair (unlocked in collections)

    4. Valor lightsaber (NOT unlocked in collections).

    PLEASE FIX!

    Thank you <3

  11. Considering we have The Mandalorian going on.... I think it is time to introduce this weapon to the cartel market.

This weapon already exists in-game, but only for NPC sand people. The animations, graphics, is all there. It's just a matter of making it available for players to use.

  12. the armors are not available anymore (apart from being lucky to find some pieces on the GTN).

It was actually planned by BW to put those cosmetic shells on a vendor (like they did with the mounts & pets)- but obviously that never happened unfortunately

Thank you for the reply. It seems this armor will soon be available as a cosmetic item in the expansion. I saw it in the PTS.

  13. Operative notes

    Concealment impressions:

    • Roll knife. This passive is crazy good. Dropping the cooldown of stim boost by 10 seconds with your main filler allows you to almost chain them together - even more so when you take tactical critical.
    • 0 energy cost for laceration with relentless blade is pretty irrelevant. It sounds great in theory, but you don't run out of energy anyway, it still needs a tactical advantage and roll knife is far better. Instead, I would remove the tactical advantage requirement for lacerate with this passive, but allow it to consume tactical advantages for bonus crit chance and damage or something similar.
This would allow you to choose between higher burst or more frequent burst windows.
    • The level 30 passives are very interesting and are the ones I spent the most time thinking about. As I mentioned before, I liked having sevor tendon for an extra tactical advantage, so merging it with crippling throw is nice.
    • Crippling wounds allows for some extremely high burst with volatile strike.
    • Meanwhile, best defense allows you to focus on surviving in 1v1 scenarios and further, will be extremely valuable if it works on operations bosses. Taking 20% less damage puts you into tank levels of durability, with a potential additional 14% through 2 other passives. Concealment off-tank meta?
    • Big thumbs up for concealment.

    .

This is a great summary of changes.

My opinion is that concealment generally feels good, but I feel that now our survivability has taken a major hit for PVP. I can't test as well as in PROD because we don't have ranked matches in PTS. My guess is that Operative is overall nerfed for PVP. See my thoughts below.

    1. Evasion is pretty much useless in PVP, which is a big contributor to my dps. I used to have Evasion with Blow for Blow (150% damage back) + Evasive Imperative (cooldown dropped with every attack). That meant I could use evasion to deal a lot of damage. Perhaps I will have to find an alternative method to get that same dps.

    2. I also don't see Cunning Competencies, which allowed me to use countermeasures for purging all movement-impairing effects. I dont see a direct skill 1-1 from what we had before. There is Quick Countermeasures now, but it does not PURGE all movement impairing effects. There is also Tactical Critical which purges movement impairing effects, but now I have to think about how I use stim boost... I can adapt, but will require practice and some changes in rotation.

    3. I have to choose between flashbang and holotraverse. No problem, this is a change I can live with.

    4. I DONT SEE REVITALIZERS. This used to heal me for a total of 25% of my health, and I would trigger that again with Tactical Overdrive. Now I am only getting the extra alacrity and critical. That was a major loss for me. From a PVP survivability perspective, I feel that we have been nerfed.

    5. I also don't see Fortified Kolto. When this was active damage reduction was increased by 3% per stack (2). However, now this doesn't exist. So, that means again, less survivability in PVP.

EDIT: There's also a bug that doesn't seem to select the options I chose from the combat proficiencies page. I sometimes select an option, and it looks good and I close it. When I open it again, the skill selected is different. Let's say I choose Tactical Overdrive, but then next I open the page, it is back at Tactical Critical

  14. Lets say you have a pair of boots item rating 320 from a veteran flashpoint. You go to the flashpoint gear and upgrades vendor (it has to say upgrades) and the list auto-filters and only displays gear for which you are eligible, namely, 322 boots. It will display this gear regardless of whether you have the currency to buy it.

You get blue (prototype quality) decurion isotope stabilizers from veteran flashpoint drops and completing the weekly.

You get blue (prototype quality) aquatic resource matrices from planetary heroics, and probably also daily areas though I haven't tested them out. Obviously more from the [WEEKLY] for the planetary heroics than the individual missions themselves, but the alderaan and coruscant ones were dropping 3 or 4 at completion.

You get gold (legendary quality) Medals of Commendation from completing conquest goals and other things as well, but you get the most from conquest (that I've seen so far).

You don't get enough Aquatic Resource Matrices from vet flashpoints alone, you have to supplement with planetary heroics. At least, that's what I found. It's possible if I was hitting flashpoints harder I might see more.

Eventually when you have 322 or higher in most of the slots your average will finally hit 322.

Completing the alderaan and coruscant heroic [WEEKLY] missions, three vet flashpoints (including the [WEEKLY] for that) and, in the process, completing personal Conquest, got me enough currency to upgrade I think maybe three pieces or so from 318 to 320 and maybe my mainhand to 324? I'm not in game so I can't verify but I'll try to check tomorrow. I was using my healer main, so I didn't have to worry about accuracy, but there was no way I could get enough alacrity to make the 1.3s GCD with the gear I could purchase, and I opted not to augment since I saw the gear was consumed in the upgrade transaction, so I'm only at 1.4s GCD.

I'm sure people have found more efficient ways to gear and I'd love to read their responses. I also tried to do a couple of unranked arenas, I think I did three, but didn't earn enough of anything to buy any upgrades from those vendors. I don't have JackieKo's post on itemization and currencies, and their sources, memorized yet.

I don't think its necessary to stick to one content-area to upgrade your character overall per se, but as you acquire pieces of gear for specific slots, it is most beneficial to stick with whatever content from where you got that piece originally. So, going back to my example above, I would stick with flashpoints to upgrade the boots since you've already invested a fair bit into upgrading them, but if you have a stubborn anatomical slot with which you have bad luck (for example, you just don't seem to be getting any helmets; or any relics), you can use one of the other vendors to buy the initial piece and upgrade from there, assuming you do a variety of content. For example, GSF never pops on PTS unless there are actually GSF updates (like with 5.5), but on LIVE it will definitely be an important source for me to supplement those stubborn unlucky anatomical gear slots.

    ty for this info!

  15. Hey there,

So with the rewards announced I started working on the pts.

I completed the first 3 chapters of warrior story, done makeb, sor, kotfe, kotet and full onslaught story (ossus, onderon, meksha).

I have also completed my weekly for pvp,fps and heroics.

I also have my gear rating 322 and above.

This would mean I am eligible for the full rewards that this pts will give. Now my question is can you make an achievement that highlights all of these so its easier to see what you have completed and what still needs to be done? This would help out alot for those wanting to get all the rewards.

Second thing I wanna know is:

I have completed the pts rewards that were given out by playing the pts (5.9) for 6.0 launch. These rewards contained 2 titles and the log mount.

I know the log mount is something special and not many people have it why make it so you can get it again? And if there is a good reason for it what will those get that allready have the 2 titles and the log mount?

    ~Fec

YES, plz, we need an achievement so we know we have done everything.

For example, do we need to do the Ranked Group PVP Weekly as well?

Or does the regular unranked count to satisfy this requirement?

I am not sure, and I bet a ton of people don't even realize they might not be 100% ready to get the reward. I guess the achievement would help clarify what is needed.

  16. lol its super easy. there are 3 vendors, Conquest , Raid, and PVP. To get conquest gear you do conquest stuff, and you get the materials for the conquest upgrade by doing conquest stuff. and Same goes for raid, you do raid stuff, and pvp you do pvp stuff. I'm not sure what is complicated about it

ok that makes a bit more sense, but I can only see a way of getting to 320. How do I go from 320 to 322?

  17. Where they failed is with poor communication. SO MANY PEOPLE in reality think the bare minimum is "good enough" and it ends up ALWAYS causing issues, problems or harm to others. I have yet to see where over communication has a negative outcome.

Not ONCE is it listed there "You are limited to only 2 and its permanent, but we will explain why." It is vague. It is DESIGNED to be vague, because deceptive people do not like to be honest. That is the issue. Deceptive marketing. (Then again, I should know better, because BioWare did the same with Anthem AND they are under EA.)

And where were the content creators that said this? Because maybe I live under a rock (probably more so true) but the ones I have seen have NEVER mentioned this AT ALL. They kept either saying "I don't know." Or saying that we can switch them. That is nor informative at all.

I just don't get why people can not communicate well, and why having poor communication skills is somehow a "good thing" and people continue to get away with it. :(

Edit: Mixing classes as ine sentinal spec on a commando? Yah, we know day 1 of them announcing 7.0 that wasnt the case, had to explain to people "No. Your not getting a gun on your jedi. No your not getting a lightsaber on your sniper." But they presented it as if your a Force user, you can switch to any jedi or sith spec (barring LS/DS requirements) and if your a tech user you can switch to any tech class. "You want to run a rifle? Go for it. You want to run a sniper? Go for it! You want to run a assault cannon? Go for it! One pistol or two? Go for it!" NEVER was it mentioned "BUT you can only pick one."

Granted, this new information seems to indicate it changed over a few months, but that is their failing for not communicating. "Hey, we were too ambitious. We have to lock the styles to 2 one only per character, and its permanent. So no, you don't get access to 24 tress anymore, you only get 6."

THAT is clear communication. And I fail to see or find that ANYWHERE. Meaning, the failure is on them. (Then again, with their recent silence and non-communication over these changes A LOT of people dislike......that actually seems par for the course of the pattern they have set for their bad reputation.)

And I really really really really REALLY don't want this game to fail and face EA's wrath, especially since EA lost the FIFA contract and they won't be making their billions anymore from that, they will be cutting devs and shutting down games to "save costs". And if these changes go live, I fear it might be like a mass exodus like 5.0 did. And the only reason why we had a influx of people......was because of it being released on Steam. I fear that if another mass exodus happens, we won't be able to recover. :( And I really really really don't want that. :(

Man I really do hope they just delay 7.0 and take more time to work things out, both for us the players sake and the devs sake of time crunch and the backlash against them. :(

I think the dev's description of combat styles was pretty clear all along.
