There should be no need for filling out a subscription until the initial 30 from the product code being redeemed has expired.
Falling back on "this is standard in other games", just means you're all performing the same scheme; not that it is of any value to the consumer or "right". That people have not complained about it or were simply ignored is also irrelevant.
I see the points that a valid subscription (i.e. credit data) enables a certain level of identification of the end-user. Confirming identities up to a point.

It still feels like a sham. More over now that if I don't feel like playing this after a month I'll be stuck going though the cancellation process; rather than just stop playing.
