  1. Toons that gained pvp gear before the expansion, and are even augmented will eventually level out of the bracket. This is happening because the expansion is very recent. Lowbie bolster puts toons at about 1700-1800 expertise if I'm not mistaken. They're going up against a high amount of 55+ toons with 2018 expertise. You can no longer get pre 60 pvp gear, so this issue will not last very long.

Before creating a thread about this you should have determined what the actual problem is, and presented a solution. That would lead to a discussion. This is nothing more than a rant where you shout "bolster bolster fix now now now".

And you should stop writing off threads backed by dozens of people's opinions and experiences with the retort that fixing expertise on level 55 pvp gear fixes the problem overnight. In no way do you need pvp gear to wreck lowbies in this bracket.. I just levelled to 55 on my vanguard who has no pvp gear. It is absolutely embarrassing wrecking lowbie after lowbie with virtually full hps remaining.

There is a LOT more to this problem than balancing expertise on 55 pvp gear. You honestly think everyone between 55-59 is wearing this when they wreck someone?

  2. Completely agree with the OP.

I recently came back to this game after a long break and decided to level a new toon. In the past I really enjoyed PvP whilst leveling but after hitting the 30's bracket it really pisses me off when I get melted by toons over 55. I have full BiS gear at 35 and am fully augmented and I get 4 shotted by some people.

This bracket makes no sense and it appears like the developers didn't think this out. Has there been any sign the developers acknowledge this problem and have a solution or do they have a reason why we need to bear this?

This game really needs to sort its **** out prior to the release of the latest movie. The game stands to reap a new population boost after the release of episode 7 and if basic **** like this and more isn't covered and the game polished, we will just slowly loose the population that we stand to gain.

In the same position here, Loved the PVP in the game (not quite sure why, has always had issues, but what mmo hasn't?) Loathed the pve - especially the stupidly big boring worlds for questing - what a ridiculous time sink that is. As such, I always levelled in pvp. Getting into a new bracket was never fun, ie turning 30 but I always still felt I contributed something for my team.

Started playing mid brackets to try to level up some alts upon my return as a subscriber. OMG - just not funny. Those 56-59 premades that think they are so cool should be ashamed of themselves. Even playing better tactically can't save you. If your team is significantly lower than the other team you WILL lose. It is now utterly level based and it is truly pathetic how the devs let it get into this state. Just the HP disparity itself between a 30s and a 56-59 - usually about 10k. Add the bolster, massive amounts of additional skills - zero fun for the lowbie.

So what do I now do in this game to level? Roam massive, boring, souless worlds picking up 3 objects then being sent on another 10 minute journey to blow a senator's nose? No thanks. Flashpoints? Boring, no thanks. So I have to put up with this mid level nonsense or unsubscribe. Not an attractive proposition.

PLEASE, for the love of god, fix this.

  3. Hi all,

I rolled a shadow pretty much just to gain the consular buff but have reached lev 37 and am thoroughly enjoying it. I have read through a lot of the guides and have decided to go with 31/0/10 as my target build for the moment. I am playing the build in mainly dps gear but one question I have is would you recommend a shield or a focus? This is purely from a pvp perspective.

I am not looking to 'main' tank pvp matches but I like the stick a guard on someone if they are being focussed and of course use my taunts. It seems that not equipping a shield would be to give up a lot in the kinetic tree. Kinetic ward for one point adding pretty much perma 15% shield chance seems extremely good. I know the limitations of shields in pvp but a 40% shield chance reducing white damage by 25% adds up surely?

So from your experience is the extra survivability and synergy with the talents in the kinetic tree worth taking a shield over a focus or is the extra force damage on the focus really that much of a boost to dps?

    Thanks in advance :)

  4. You can tell who has done the most scoring/passing the ball from the 'attacking' objective points. 2500 pts for scoring and 500 for a pass i think from memory. Mr Deathmatch might score highly on the defensive objective points if the enemy ball carrier happened to wander into his killing path but will have virtually no attacking points.
  5. This will sound really newbie but which are the DPS classes in PVP? I know some will say that I'm blind but I'm confused about the classes descriptions ingame and the opinions here. Mind you, I'm not asking for the "best" class because I know there is not one, just asking for the list of DPS classes from both sides. Like the Vanguard says it is tank and damage ingame but people argue it is not good DPS for PVP. I want to play a DPS for PVP but I'm lost in the options, can anyone help me please?

Vanguard is insanely good dps for pvp in assault spec (third tree).

  6. ... The laugh is from a crit. It hpretty sure it is from the railshot resetas always come from crits. Operatives have it as well.

Pretty sure it has nothing to do with crit. As others have stated it is the sign that railshot has become available again via proc. Operatives/scoundrels no longer have a laugh. They used to do a giggle when they gained a stack of upperhand via proc but the devs removed it. Why they removed it and let the vanguard/pt laugh remain though is a mystery...

Edit - sorry i screwed the quote up as typing on stupid tiny mobile screen.

  7. You're not even in the same conversation man. We're talking about the talent to make it completely free, and thus spammable. It's not really spammable if it costs two rage now, is it?

Damn my perfectly innocent comment in my original reply simply stated that I was surprised that dps jugs dont seem to use it at all when it is a very useful ability that is still available to them. Subsequent reples to rhis were stating that dps wouldnt use it as it is a tank only ability. It isnt. /facepalm.

  8. Correct. The only I see with the talent is that no matter your spec it's easily accessible to all 3 trees.

If your Immortal, it's an easy talent to pick up on the way to the top. If your Vengeance, it's not that hard to put 7 points into immortal, and then 3 extra into rage. If your Rage spec, it's not that hard for you to put 3 points into single saber mastery in vengeance and then the other 7 into Immortal. In reality it's too easily accessible. All that needs to be done is move it up a tier in the tank tree and problem solved. Now the only class that has it (not counting any hybrids) are pure tanks in PvP. Problem solved.

Arrrrgh it is a base class ability for guardians. All guardians/jugs get an area of effect snare at level 12. The guardian version is called 'freezing force' I believe. This means ALL jugs/guardians can use it at will. You do not even need to spend ONE talent point into the defence tree. Speccing it simply removes the 2 action points required to cast it.

  9. It's a tier 2 talent. It would cost 7.

Mate, it is a base ability for all guardians/jugs. You dont have to SPEC for it in any way. Speccing into the ability in the defense tree simply removes the FOCUS cost. Don't know how I could explain it more clearly.

  10. It's an Immortal-spec talent. So only Tanks would use it.

No, the ability is open to all jug/guards. The talent simply removes the focus cost. So, as stated, I think it would be worth a dps jug sacrificing a couple of focus points to cast this at an opportune moment.

  11. Yeah I have to agree with this. Happened to me a few times in VS. Is a total pain in all warzones as melee dps though to be honest for something that is so easy to apply. I am amazed that I don't encounter it more often. Dps guardians/jugs hardly ever seem to cast it in my experience. Just as well! If I was playing one I sure would use a couple of focus to lay this down.
  12. Yes the tab targetting is awful. I played WAR and never felt like this about it. Say what you want about wow, their system was smooth as silk. In this game I feel it is actually going out of its way to select the wrong target. Absolutely infuriating in crunch moments. The only saving grace is that it is the same for everyone.

Of all the things in the game it is this and the wall of red spam constantly on my screen that annoys me the most.

  13. What's the big deal? You talk as if the trauma debuff only affects you and your team's healers. All those nasty dps wiping your team out in 3 seconds flat. What about your nasty dps on their healers? They have exactly the same handicaps that your team has. It is an even playing field. The team that adapts and coordinates better will win. As it should be.
  14. I am totally with you OP. Played sentinel since beta, now war hero x. Since 1.2 and all the rerollers I just don't feel the same about him. I enjoyed the days when the common conception was how bad we were and sorcs were all the rage. Re rolled gunslinger and loving it. Will see how it goes.
  15. I have played a watchman sentinel since beta. We were an incredibly good pvp class before 1.2. I really wish they had just left us alone. I actually preferred watchman before the changes but of course it is still an amazing class.

To the guy that said sents were so easy to kite, just lol. It is impossible to kite us for more than a few seconds if we are played correctly.

Anyway, I am taking a break from watchman and have rolled a gunslinger as I don't want to be associated with the class in it's current state and all the fotm rerollers. It IS overpowered at top gear levels and played well. The nerfs to other classes were in no way needed imo and makes the gulf between them and a well played sent/mara insurmountable.

  16. Yep just been burnt by this too. Had six bm tokens spare as was using pve gear in few slots before the change to the expertise cap. I too missed the notice that these had to be spent pre patch.

With the changes to expertise cap I thought it would be nice to get into full bm only to find my tokens are redundant lol. Oh well, not the end of the world but it would be nice to still have tje option to spend them in tandem with the current system, at least temporarily.

Moral of the story, I need to learn to read.

  17. Seconds to go before voidstar enemy door cap. After what seems an eternity the glass door finally opens. Transcendence speed rush to the door. No time to click through the enemy hoard. Come on tab don't fail me now!.......force leap to someone running from the other door. Meep Meep Meep Meep....
  18. I don't understand this either. I play an imp on my server and we are the higher population yet I would say 6 out of 10 times when I start a WZ, my team will always be 1 or more men down. I can't imagine it would be so hard to make it start only when there are 8 people for each side ready to go.

You probably know, but there is a very common glitch where one of your team members doesnt appear on the raid frames. This means it can appear that you only have seven when infact you have a full team.
