  1. I ressubbed after a many year's long absence to get some new toons ready only because getting to choose two combat styles and start with one from another traditional class sounds really cool and i want to explore that.

I am bummed i seem to have subbed 2 months early now with today's delay announcement but that's not a huge deal.

What is a bigger deal than i remember is ability bloat.,,,,, i left swtor years ago and have played a lot of MMOs to fill the time since then like WOW, and ESO and a few others i have accounts for. i didn't realize how bad SWTOR was in this regard. i mean some of these classes have so many abilities that you should use in pvp or OPS to be competitive but man it's a lot compared to all the other AAA mmos ... WOW fixed their ability bloat a long time ago and it's a lot more enjoyable game now.

i think SWTOR could use a small amount of trimming in this department across most classes ... there are some redundant abilities that could just frankly be combined or made passive for a more streamlined enjoyable experience without so many APM and wrist cramps LOL

anyway, it's just a constructive critique that could make the game better for most i think and more in line with the other AAA mmo experiences and thought i would share

SWTOR is still the most enjoyable mmo from a story standpoint in operation after 10 years, so it has a lot going for it and i forgot how much i loved it and glad to be back

Don't bash me too hard for pointing out something i feel could be done to make game a little better but i have big shoulders if you must :p lol

  2. Dang well ... What have others experienced and found to be more efficient

Lol forgot that part well it was a glorious thought at least ... Shesh .... My plan of crafting ease has just been destroyed faster than the Death Star blew up Alderaan 😪

    No 😡

Alright back to drawing board on ease of crafting then lol... Man the epiphany that was so glorious I had is crushed

  3. I just came back to game and left my old server for a new one .... I brought one toon over to new server for legacy

I'm thinking of putting the six actual crafting skills on two toons that I rarely will play other than parking them when I get all companions ....

Then on all the toons I actually play take the gathering and mission skills to feed them crafting supplies

Does this have a draw back ? I can't find one since companions are all same now with now unique crafting bonuses like last time I played.... In my head seems the most efficient way to craft what I want when I want with only two parked toons and play the game and gather and run missions with my chars I play often so I can focus on game more ...

    Thoughts ?

  4. I am returning after a couple years my severs PVP WZ pops for unranked are not as fast I would like them.

I could move to harbinger which from what I'm reading has WZ unranked pops constantly

Problem is this .... Current server Ping is 40-50 ms ... Harbinger is 90-100 ms

Will I just be cannon fodder and have no fun on harbinger ?

I'm decent PVP player but I am Leary about doubling my ping

Am I doomed on my low WZ pop low ping server?

  5. Never said you didn't know how to plaY sabo bro. I said you might be missing something.

The above were suggestions you might like to try or not. Up to you.

My play style usually hurts my damage (I will answer calls for help, leave my aoe on doors, etc..) But in VS,AH,CW,NC, Quesh huttball. I'm pulling in some good dmg. As in more than before.

Just now starting to get 1 mill regularly if not completely focused in full match time and peaked at 1.4+mill

This is with 174 main hand 168 off, 168 armors, 158 relics implants, and 174 earpiece.

The numbers i get combined with the 40% reduction you claim is a big BIG gap. maybe I'm playing bads? Dunno.

Something is missing. Hope you find it.

I know this is not directed at my but parsing and rotation building is crap in PVP ... its a fluid and ever changing dynamic in which you much react quickly without ever really get off a great rotation most times...

PARSERS and ROTATION builders combined with DEVS that don't have time to actually think about what they are doing RUINED the Engineering spec for PVP ... any spec of any class can cakewalk through PVE so its irrelevant

BEING AT the TOP of DPS chart in a pvp match means squat ... most of the DPS didn't even kill anyone ... I would rather stop 5 attempted caps or cap several myself and be last on DPS board than not stop a cap or cap at all and lose and be at the top of leaderboard

bottom line the engineer is now crap in PVP

  6. WOW .... JUST WOW....

DID I REALLY TAKE A LITTLE BREAK FROM SWTOR while still paying .... to COmE BACK to this ...

STUPID REVAMP of MY FAVORITE CLASS that hardly anyone played anyway .... WHY ??? just WHY?

was someone bored and didn't have anything to do on the DEV team ?

did someone on the DEV team mistake a Marksmen sniper for a ENGINEERING sniper one to many times???

    I mean SERIOUSLY WTH???

this may be top 5 worst revamps of a CLASS in MMO HISTORY !!!!!!!!!!

for PVP ENGINEERING is DEAD and MARKSMEN is BORING as hell and only for people with small brains that are not very bright nor strategically inclined. You took a HARD class to play well that had freedom to use strategy instead of ROTATION like every other dang class and totally RUINED IT !!!!

    WAY TO GO

this is my first RANT ever in a mmo FYI ....

guess Ill logged out and wait for 4.0 maybe youll get around to changing it back someday

THERE WERE SOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY MORE THINGS that the TIME could have been spent on!!!!!

WHO THE HELL WAS TESTING THIS AND GIVING THIS FEEDBACK that these CHANGES were really good ?????????????//////

    JESUS

  7. so are the best buy ones actual cards? or are they like the gamestop ones?

    no clue

bioware to my knowledge has not told us if they are physical or only digital .. but you could assume they are suppose to be in physical form according to the bioware posts about them

wish they would say one way or the other ive been waiting for a physical version and if its not coming would be good info to know

  8. It's pointless to blame the engine for bugs that EA can fix with a patch like chat bubbles or the mission log.

Large scale PvP is a much larger architectural issue and something that has to be designed from the ground up, like GW2.

i am fairly certain you do not understand the contridiction between your first 6 words and your last sentance ... but really?

    just saying

  9. I've never had any of this trouble or this OTP crap from any other MMO site, game or forum. No, this isn't a self-inflicted situation. This is a situation inflicted upon us by you, inflicted on those of us who take our PC security seriously.

QFT .... albeit I already succumbed to the real intent of the one time passwords ... and added security key to our accounts :( which i didnt want to have to punch in each time the old way was better since i could do from memory

both ways now are just a PITA for me personally

  10. We are tracking IP addresses. We are also checking (for the browser)

We are working on seeing what we can do for the players affected by ISP's that force a new IP address on a frequent basis. I don't have a definite date on when that will be, as we don't have a definite answer to give as yet. We are looking at various options and weighing them against other priorities the teams that do the actual 'work' also have.

how about working on something for people on the go with IPADs or similar devices hooked up to a cell provider that may be on the go in a vehicle as a passenger quite often on trips or what not ... i attached all our households accounts to one security key we keep on a keychain at the house in a way it cannot be lost ... you do not offer that service on the iphone app version of the security key thus to log in the website forums while on the road i would have to take chance of losing the little physical which i will not ... so i can only read on the road not post :(

  11. Hey everyone,

We are investigating this issue right now. In the meantime, we would recommend that you do not purchase Cartel Coins digitally from Best Buy. You should still be able to purchase physically from any location without issue but we are looking into the digital delivery issues that you folks are experiencing.

I will give you updates as soon as I have more information. If you have purchased a code digitally and not received it, please contact Best Buy and they should be able to assist you further. Unfortunately this is an issue with the retail purchasing and not something our Customer Support will be able to assist with. If you have purchased a code from a retailer you simply need to go to http://www.swtor.com/redeem-code and you will then receive your mini-pet via in-game mail.

    -eric

can you tell us which Best Buys and Game Stops actually have these Mythical PHYSICAL Cartel Coin pacKS????

ive looked from Florida to Ohio as i travel a lot ... have not been in ONE GAMESTOP or BEST BUY i have been in ??

jas anyone else seen these in physical form where you just scratch off a code and enter on swtor website ?

  12. Blaming the Hero Engine (regardless of version) is pointless and is becoming too much of a handwave. They have the source code, they've modified that code. There's nothing preventing them from correcting this issue, at least not code-wise.

    .

we dang well can blame the modified version of the hero engine bioware built for this game ... its a sucky BAD engine that will never be capable of having any meaningful large scale PvP in a Star WARS setting .. for petes sake i do not think that is POINTLESS since they could begin work on a new engine and spending about 36 months in house revising the game over to new engine then release it as a huge patch in a future expansion ... basically redownloading whole game .. which would fix many of the crappy issues swtor has .. and only increase its future subscrition base in the long run ...

  13. A) I don't think it is an issue on the client side, per se... so all the "professional" engine ranting is a red herring. But forum members love red herring like kids love candy. Smack talking the engine is a passive aggressive style of attack at Bioware staff... because they "picked the engine" and "refuse to replace it" or "fix it" .... to quote often used ad hominem memes.

    B) The server side is where the challenge is right? Because there is dynamic tracking required on data like quest progress and database transactions...etc...etc. And on the server side.. though tiny at the individual level... more data being tracked and monitored creates more transactions which demands more performance and you multiply tiny demands in performance by thousands... and this inturn can result in client side lag style effects... at which point everyone starts chomping on the red herring again. Given the complaints about server performance in the forums already... if you were running the shop.. would you push any more transaction demands into the servers right now?? I know I wouldn't.

are you really this dense and possesing of grear lack of knowledge or just trolling?

the ENGINE is BAD period ... no red herrings anywhere just fact

  14. How about this:

Dailies, weekly's etc. become something you do not pick up and add to your quest log. They are always there in sort of a GW2 sense. You just go to the area and complete them. That would free up quest log space and maximize performance.

    OR

You get the vendor of the hero engine in (or any company that is an expert with the engine) as a consultant and ask the question what are we doing wrong here. Ability delay lag, performance issues with large quest log etc. and figure this out. I think to pull the engine is to design a new game so that is not going to happen. I am betting though that there is something that can be done.

Maybe it's not the engine but how Bioware uses it.

the hero engine is nothing like the frankenstein monstrosity bioware has created from the hero engine ... the "hero" engine used by bioware is its own creation totally unique in the world ... sio no one from hero engine orgianl devs could figure it out very efficiently ...

for some reason a higher up at bioware at the time fecided to REINVENT THE WHEEL instead of going with a PROVEN ENGINE...

i have my own thoughts on how this happened .. favor to a friend at hero .. or greased pockets back and fourth etc ,,, whatever it was i think it is rooted in greed either to enrich a friend or someone or just to "save " money ... either way was a total disaster of a decision

BIOWARE should move the code over a few years slowly but surely to a NEW ENGINE and then when its playable and ready release it in a future expansion plan and simple ... the current engine is horrid ... and a new one would allow for PvP as it was envisioned withscores or even hundreds at the same time in an area ...

can they do this quickly HECK no .. can it be finished over a period of a few years ... HECK YES

  15. Hey everyone,

We have seen a few requests since the launch of Rise of the Hutt Cartel for the Mission Log size to be increased above 25 and I wanted to explain why that limit is currently in place. The Mission Log, just like all other components of the game, directly affects a player's performance in game. The goal in limiting the log to only 25 missions is to help mitigate potential area server hitches and ability lag they may encounter. Simply put, players could see decreased game performance with a Mission Log larger than 25.

Hopefully that helps explain a bit why the limit is what it is. There are currently no plans to change that limit but it is something we will continue to monitor.

    Thanks!

    -eric

    Eric

in all seriousness can you all please add a new item to Cartel market for players that have the means to make a donation to the company to create a fund to move the game over to a new more reliable game engine???

please ... ill donate monthly sur emany more would as well

thus engine has got to go even if it is a three year process or more starting today ... then in some future expansion you can roll it out with new game ENGINE

this has to be done ... the HERO ENGINE is fail

  16. This seems like a troll topic. Why is it so wordy just to describe the fact thst the new loading screen isnt very good?

The new loading screen looks worse than it should given that its low res and streched.

Regardless though you can change the loading screen to whatever you want. Its an image file in the games directory. If it seriously bugs you that much just change it back to the original loading screen or any image of your choosing.

because details matter in business and putting that loading screen up was a bad business decision as its the first image a new customer has of the game and its the first image current customers see everytime they log in ... most people are not going to go digging through files to change it ... just my humble opinion ... take it with a grain of salt

  17. The Artwork is Horrid on the new loading screen ... im pretty sure i could have done that splash screen myself and I am a Car dealer for a living that just happens to have a gift of drawing and sketching ...meaning i do not get paid for it and whomever did get paid for it ... well lets just say they received a lot more in payment than they should have earned :p

the new artwork for sure makes me cringe everytime I load up ... but i doo not believe it makes people quit as OP said heh

but the bottom line is OP is correct the new splash screen for loading is just wretched

  18. Using a one year old rig geared for high end gaming and with an internet connection well capable of smooth video download even during daily peak times it took me SIX FLIPPIN HOURS (!!!!) to download and install patch 2.0.

While I am grateful they are attending to urgent fixes today with another 2 hour down time and another patch to download and install I fail to see how meaningful this early access is before the expansion is rolled out to the rest of the gaming population from this weekend. This early access is more of a joke if you actually hold a full time job or full time studies (which I am assuming relates to majority of folks that play this game) since your daily window to actually get acquainted with the numerous significant changes and then to actually get around to playing the new content is small.

Yes this is a rant and for having secured something "special" (i.e. early access), the actual benefit (i.e. early access) is less meaningful than it couldve been

    Rant over

i read through thread and it seemed no one helped you so hear it goes ...

i do not think you have a good of a connection and or system as you might think ...

took me 6 mins to download on laptops and main gaming home rig ... you may be getting throttled from your ISP sounds like maybe... if i had to guess which sucks ... who is your provider ? is it cable? have you called them to see if you have 40/50 meg service ... and make sure your paying not to get throttled in someplaces?

as far as the rest of your complaints yes this "expansion" has about 6-10 hours of storyline depending on how much you smell the roses :)

  19. it sucks it really does

i even had 5 physical security keys in house not used from the 5 CE editions my houshold bought for game

so after getting tired of the one time password word thing i caved in and added one of them to all the accounts we used ... its an extra step now to log in and i hate it but seems it was a business decision imho more than security to entice people to get security keys by making the one time password as horrid and unfriendly to use as possible

i wish i didnt have to use the security keys but alas i think its the best forced option now as far as ease of use for website and game particulaly those with road warrior gaming laptops and dynamic IPS

if you need a securit key i think the iphone one is free ( not sure ) ? but with the iphone one you can not attach it to multiple accounts so if you have mutliple accounts in houshold youll need to get a physical key to attach up to 4 accounts to it

  20. No, it's not.

    1) it's not that big a deal to the "public"... just a handful of self-entitled complainers in the forum. So stop conflating. Got an issue with an "alleged exploit" in game.... /report it in game.

    2) while the Bioware staff do read the forums... the proper process for bug reporting is-NOT posting complaint threads in general forum. Which brings us back to number 1 above.

LOLZ ... do you not think the general mmo gaming public that doesnt play SWTOR are not already making fun of the swtor dev team for putting out an " expansion" ( that is biowares term not mine for it ) in which there were level 55 players from level 50 in the first ten minutes ?

im not a complainer i love the game but i also like integrity and despise lazy backdoor ways of doing things ...

THIS is another or a long line of BLACKEYES against what used to be my favorite gaming company BIOWARE albeit it proly still is actually for nostalgic reasons

I just hate to see them keep shooting themselves in the foot like this from a business point of view which more than likely never entered into your brain ....

It would spread fast across the entirety of the mmo website community though if they did do something significant about it which would be looked as a positive in the gaming community's eyes instead of letting it go as they did the ILUM valor exploit a a month or so after release ... bioware did nothing and they lost MANY MANY MANY subs over it ... for not doing anything - the word got out they did nothing about it and swtor ended up with what i believe is an unwarranted bad image to gamers that have not tried it

so actually those of us COMPLAINING in your eyes mostly want nothing but good to happen for this game and bioware regardless of EAs invilment now and a SMART LONG TERM business decision imho would be to reset to 50 ( or even lower than ban hammer ) anyone who used this EXPLOIT so BIOWARE might look like they have a backbone to the general gaming community again ,,, might lose a few subs but would gain much more in the long term - REspect - from long time mmo players that have not tried swtor or those that left after first month of release ( from the valor exploit ) may come back eventually which only makes the game stronger more profitable and thus MORE CONTENT GETS ADDED FASTER FOR ALL OF US TO ENJOY!!

but sadly most DEVS are really great at conceptual things and making pretty interesting games that are fun to play ... but artistic type people just unfortunately are not really ever good at real business management decisions particulaly long term business thinking vs short term profit taking ... and i really dont think many suits at EA or bioware really give a damn about this or read the forums or look at exploit reports ... so by posting this here maybe some smart dev will read it and take it to higher up decision makers that go hmmm .. we need to set an exmaple of some sort...

but again this was all more than likely out of your paradigm and comfort level of thinking and thus I more than likely wasted my time responding to you but i was not really doing anything sitting here in bed reading my IPAD ..

posted from ipad in bed sorry for any grammer mistakes but not going to double check :)
