  1. My general feeling is great concept that doesn't quite work.

I'm nearly to 50 and have gotten bored. I really like the fully voiced class story arcs, but they should have stopped there. The resources used to make all the side quests fully voiced and acted would have been much better utilised in making the whole game experience better. There is just an over-riding sense of repetition to the gameplay that has steadily turned me off logging in.

To a degree the lack of day/night cycle and dynamic weather has effected me more than I thought it would. Too much being led by the nose and everything being easy has also meant playing hasn't gripped me as much as MMO's normally do. I would put the game a step above Warhammer Online, but a step below LOTRO, AoC, WoW, EQ2 and Rift.

  2. I think Bioware misjudged the enjoyment of redoing 1-50 in this game. I'm sure their design philosophy was re-roll to enjoy the multiple story arcs instead of end game.

The problem I am having is I'm halfway through my 2nd character and having trouble enjoying the repetition. Yes the dialogue has changed for character story, but the "experience" is a repeat.

A 3rd character is out of the question, so that leaves me with waiting for something else to take my fancy. Whether that be a new MMO or a just a new game in general.

  3. I'll be staying for another 2 months. Buggered if I'm going to re-roll again. Don't care what the ping is.

I suspect the pop decline you are seeing now is only part of what will be when the transfers happen. Going to be a couple of dead servers.

Bioware really should offer a transfer to everyone on the un-official Oceanic servers to allow equality for jumping off the sinking ship.

  4. That's entirely the problem, I suspect most of us will be doing the same. When the population does inevitably drop (as all the vets go back to their mains), many will decide they are better off where they are.

If I were prone to conspiracy theories, I might postulate this was EA/Bioware's plan all along. Kill off the aussie servers due to 'lack of demand'. At least they tried right?

Here lies the problem. Though not sure about it being intentional. But the 2 month wait making a huge chunk of Aussies stay on US servers and create the illusion of low pop is a big worry.

  5. I'll be curious to see server population over the next 2 months. If server pops are high then cool bananna's. If server pops decline rapidly due to everyone staying with their mains on US servers, then that would be bad. It might create a negative vibe of the usefullness of having Aussie servers because we are forced by Bioware to choose to either re-roll or neglect our home servers.

I'd really like to support our home servers, but buggered if I'm re-rolling again.

I think more than SWTOR is at stake here. We desparately need a success story to set a precident for future MMO's to see Australia as a viable market.

I'm hoping Bioware have'nt doomed this as a failed experiment by having a 2 month delay.

  6. I'm scared.

The pessimist in me seems to think something will go wrong with this launch. A case of be careful what you wish for.

    e.g.

    • Higher risk of the new server declining to low pop than if this wasn't made available
    • Wanting to transfer my characters but not being able to
    • Being no better off with latency or maintenance times

If any one of these 3 things happen I'll be peeved. If none of these things happen, I'll praise Bioware for being awesome dudes!!

  7. New ability cooldowns = nice change

New Global cooldown = horrible change

Just change the global cooldown part back to what it was so we don't have the distracting disco lights going off every single button click!

So there we go, a bit of the old and a bit of the new and we are golden.
