I dunno if you read my post but I'll sum it up for you......My computer will run essentially any game on earth on all high settings and runs swtor flawlessly in all stages of the game no matter what is on screen. Its a 1 year old $1000+ liquid cooled beast that eats crysis/metro 2023/the witcher for breakfast. The 480 gtx is one of the biggest, meanest graphic cards you can possible have. The Phenom II 6x is a hex core processor (that said your sandy bridge is about 1/6 faster).
Point is: this is not just people with terrible computers complaining about something they should have seen coming. There are people who are angry (a little; I'll give bioware some time) who top shelf setups who cannot play warzones on any settings.
Next person who posts something along the lines of "your comp sux maybe you should build another" gets a forcechoke!
PS: CPU temp sits at about 65-70c ingame (so that can't be it)
Hahaha, SERIOUSLY!
...sigh. I've said it before, I'll say it again I guess...
I got a quad core at 2.6ghz, 6 gigs of ram, geforce GTS 450.
Everything works great EXCEPT WARZONES.
Studying my CPU Usage and GPU Usage during Warzones, here is what I find: My CPU stays at about 60% usage, with very seldom 80% spikes on a couple cores. Meanwhile, my GPU, or quote un-quote "MY BOTTLENECK" (lol), Stays at 15-40 PERCENT GPU USAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When lots of action is taking place, my GPU usage drops to 15%, WHERE DOES THAT MAKE ANY EFFING SENSE?
I can run any game on the market right now, and it will NEVER GO BELOW 70% GPU USAGE, EVER!
Ya, I'm pissed off. Very pissed off. I've been looking forward to this game for a long time, but I'm over it now. Pre-order = CANCELED!
Maybe there is some "coding" that makes mid range systems not work as well (AKA AMD), I dunno. It's EA, so I don't doubt it. EA is not passionate about gaming, they care only about the all mighty $.
Oh well, you guys have fun with your lame *** broken game, I've got better things to be doing.

there are a lot of people with the exact same issue as you. comb the forums a bit, and you will see.
here are a few;

Out of the game, I run smoothly with minor hiccups here and there.
In a warzone I can hide, turret spells every 5 seconds and watch a powerpoint presentation of SW:tOR.
haha, this mad me lol.
funny cuz it's true
-
Teleport moving and low fps are unlikely to be the same issue.
For the teleport stuff: Whats the details of your internet connection?
ISP, Country, connection type/speed, network setup, router, wireless...
For the FPS, have you tried sequentially disabling options and pvping with them off? Tried lowering resolution/texture quality?
i got the same system as the OP, except w/ a geforce gts 450. I've tried dropping every setting to low, and even playing in DOS mode 800x600. Still get crap frames. This is a known issue.
Bioware has yet to respond...
is it worth the 60 bucks? won't be a quick fix i'm sure. no noted support from Nvidia, or ATI for this game. My GPU actually DROPS to 15% usage when a lot of action takes place during huttball. It's not my cpu, that will rarely spike to 80% on 1 or 2 cores out of the 4 that i have.
-
Ya I'm getting the same issue. I get great framerate in anything that is PvE. Even running around the big cities I get decent 30 fps. Once I step foot into a warzone, my FPS drops to 7-25 fps.
Somethings I've noticed:
1. My GPU usage in a Warzone is usually 20%-40%. (very poorly optimized)
2. My CPU ussage in a Warzone is about 40% to random 80% spikes on 1 or 2 cores.
3. There is no noted support for this game by ATI or Nvidia yet.
-
same issue,
my gpu runs around 30% in warzones, and that's sad. my cpu usage is around 60 with random 80 percent spikes.
nvidia or ati haven't shown any real support for this game either, and as far as im concerned, the game is launched.
i too would like bioware to at least say something.
this has potential to be a great game if they can only fix the warzone fps.
all the single player and flash points stuff is great, but no pvp is an instant deal breaker. it's all or nothing for me, and a pve only game isn't worth my 15 bucks a month.
-
if you look on the Nvidia control pannel, and click the "View Compatibility With Games" link, SW:TOR isn't even on the list.....
what does that tell ya?
-
glad this is now a sticky, please get the frame rate fixed.
...might be saving my 60 bucks until it does
-
/signed
getting really low frames in warzones, and really bad lag as mentioned above. my latency is 30ish.
....my cpu usage rarely spikes above 80%, and my gpu usage stays around 20-30%
something is obviously wrong with this game.
it pains me dearly that i'm doing this but.... i'm re-subscribing tow WoW. I'm bored and it's my day off!
-
It would be nice to know if BW are looking into this problem......
i agree.
maybe it's because our drivers aren't optimized for the game yet?
-
Well, i just ran it again, and my cpu usage rarely spikes above 80%
Also my GPU usage stays around 20-30%
...a big part of methinks it's the game and not our systems.
-
i did notice that one of my core's is contantly peaking at 100% when i enter a warzone. I know other people are playing with good frames cuz i'm watching pvp videos on youtube that look smooth as hell.
however, i do know some people with i7's getting the same problem so i dunno >.<
i think more or less that my processor is too weak for this game. Sucks cuz i love pvp, but it's gonna take my months before i can afford an upgrade
i have an amd athoon II x4 620 (quad core 2.6 GHz)
-
yup... same thing here
-
ya, i've had the same prob. since beta. glad it's not just me. guess i may hold a bit on upgrading.

Blue Horseshoe loves playing Republic on The Swiftsure.
-
Which side is the Server Health Alliance on?
I plan to roll on this server, but I'm stuck on either Republic or Empire. I would roll Empire, but are the population imbalance be that bad on this server? (If so, then I'll roll Republic)
Server Health Alliance (SHA) will be on both factions, but there will be a lot more on the republic side to help balance things out. Republic is still out-numbered, but it isn't that bad.
about a 1:1.3 ratio as far as guild members are concerned.
-
anyone have an idea of whats the ratio between factions are?
usually 2:1 in favor of the empire
but it's different on each server.
from what i hear, as far as total guild members, crucibal and swiftsure are at about 3:4 in favor of the empire
-
definetly.
currently more populated than the crucible pits,
and more balanced than dark reaper.
more fun, and more 24/7 action with the aussie effect.
plus, dark reaper is probably pulling some of the starcraft kids in, since there is a "dark reaper" unit in starcraft, and all these kids are gonna want to roll shadow/assasin like the dark reapers. basically all the e-peeners.
...just some 'relaxed mind' theory, take it for what it is lol
swiftsure is looking like the way to go.
-
I've been checking the server status list at various times of day over a couple days.
The two PvP West servers worth mention are The Swiftsure and Dark Reaper.
Dark Reaper has the highest population; Swiftsure is second. However Swiftsure, due to all the Oceanic players, retains higher population later into the night where it appears to catch up to Reaper, which tapers off after peak.
For my own decision it will be down to these two servers most likely, depending on how things play out over the next few days. I like the idea of a bunch of people playing in the night hours, and Aussies are ******** (in a good way), so I'm leaning Swiftsure.
Good luck!
plus swifture has the guild health alliance, a group of guilds that chose 1 realm with intentions of balancing the ratio of the 2 factions.
i will bring balance to the force by playing republic on swiftsure.
-
Im thinking between. Swiftsure, the crucible, or Dark reaper. I want good open world pvp, and warzone pvp.
So what do you guys think, I know it's early to tell, but what do you guys think?
i'm thinking that exact same order.
hopefully i pick the right one, cuz i don't think i could tolerate going through the story twice.
-
Where do you get these numbers, is their somewhere I can look at the actual server pops?
this thread
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=23079
...and some internet searching
there isn't a numbers place yet.

Im crossing my fingers that I start tomorrow I was dumb and didnt redeem my code until November 30th, my own fault tho, I bought it much earlier than that.
ya, i did the same thing. bought it in october, but registered nov 8th.
hoping to get in tomorrow as well.
I'm thinking The Swfitsure, Crucibal Parts
very tough call, i've read a lot about both.
-
here is some math i posted on another thread;
The Crucible Parts
1684 Republic Guild Members
2123 Empire Guild Members
1:1.25 ratio
The Swiftsure
pre-oceanic players
812 Republic Guild Members
840 Empire Guild Members
+
oceanic players
751 Republic Guild Members
1210 Empire Guild Members
=
1563 Republic Guild Members
2050 Empire Guild Members
1:1.3 Ratio
-
My pleasure.
Could you give me names of the guilds in the alliance so I can add them to Swiftsure?
I think most of them are already on there, but let me see....
Terrible FPS issues and ability lag in Warzones.
