  1. So I was looking at noxxics site and according to the ‘mods’ section of the item modification page they only have the 30A mods (the lettered ones) which are higher in mainstat and lower in power. Im wondering why theyre recommending these over the non lettered ones that have a higher power stat but balanced out main stat. Is this prefered for a dps (in any class)? Or is it just assassin? Is it better to go with the ‘A’ mods instead since its higher in main stat? I have no ‘A’ mods so im wondering if i change to the ‘A’ mods do i get better numbers and put out more dmg?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Where would I want all of my stats to be at for a 2.0 deception sin?

    Lvl 55 Deception sin.

    current stats (unbuffed):

    damage (pri) 1228 - 1489

    bonus dmg 706.5

    accuracy 99.56%

    crit chance 18.55%

    crit multiplier 70.06%

my build is the 5/36/5 build. same one thats recommended on noxxic

    http://www.noxxic.com/swtor/pve/sith-inquisitor/assassin/deception/talent-build

does anyone have a 'recommended' area of where I would want to have my stats at as a deception dps for PVE raiding?

I keep hearing that 25% crit is the way to go now for 2.0, Im not sure what the rating is for that or how the ratings start to show DR. (not sure if theres a steady cap either for sins or in general)

Any advice from experienced decep sins is welcome.

    Thx in advance

  3. I get the same thing. I go to RE it and it says 'requires artifice 400' then i RE it and I guess I got the pattern, but then I got that message as well "Not high enough to learn"

Now does this mean that there was just an error in the description "requires artifice 400" and that it should say 450? And it will work?

Does it mean that it will work no matter what at 450?

Or does it mean that we should have gotten the patterns at 400 anyways and 450 didnt matter?

Eitehr way, i just lost like 5 crystals I couldve gotten patterns for and now I cant get them back. Id like to get some help on this as well!

  4. I saw this ability recently and I have never seen it before so I was wondering if there are any deception assassins out there can tell me. it hit harder than my maul which is usually my hardest hitting ability. I think it was proc'd through a specific sequence of abilities but i dont know what.

    check out parse.

  5. Im on the training dummy and i still cant hit past 1300 for some reason.

    DG relic of cerelan nova

    DG relic of boundless ages.

around all 61s in my gear.

from what i hear, someone in my gear should be hitting around 17 - 1800 on teh ops dummy.

heres my rotation its pretty simple.

    - flourish

    - jump into cover for auto charged burst

    - trickshot

    - speedshot

    - aim shot

    - trickshot

rinse and repeat for 3 mins.

please help. i hvae the higher dps class and im doing such low numbrs still.. why???

    using mox for parsing

  6. dont worrie about the OH missing, the damage of it is low, and no, dont get more acc., be sure acc. is above 100% and you will be fine.

too much acc. is bad, sure you hit all the time, but you will hit low numbers, because the trade off will put you dps very low

its simple numbers for SS smugler

    350 critical rating

    300 surge rating

    100% acc.

after all this stack cunning and power

    Thx again Eros

  7. wow youre absolutely right. i removed my OH and kept my MH only equipped and went through my rotation on the ops dummy and sure enough i missed 0. wow! so youre telling me that with my OH equipped im always going to have some misses and some dodges? do i have to get my acc up to 120 to acutally get nothing to miss? is that even possible? to have none miss or be dodged?
  8. So im on the ops training dummy on the fleet and im noticing that I get alot of 'miss/dodge' from my abilities. But when i do it on the regular training dummy i get 0 misses/dodges which is alot more dps i get to get out. I take it this from the +10% defense chance since it simulate ops boss fights. So my question is is there any SS specs out there that can use the 'ranged' abilities on teh ops dummies and get little to none miss/dodge's on the ops dummy? Is this even possible? If you can can you please tell me wth is your secret?? Acc rating/Acc percentage stats etc. I cant get it done for the life of me.

    stats

    Accuracy 103% rating 301 (ranged)

    Accuracy 113% rating 301 (tech)

    thx in advance

  9. Thank you for that tibble. understood.

so im on the training dummy on the fleet going through my usual abilities. its the operations training dummy that you get from legacy, the champion one.

I have 102% acc on my ranged tab (accuracy rating 301) and 112% acc on my tech tab (accuracy rating 301).

Now when I do my abilities on the regular strength dummy i get alot of dps and 0 misses. but then when i switch over to the ops dummy i get alot of misses and my dps is lower.

What the compendium says about hte bosses having a natural 10% defense chance was that if you get 110% then you offset the 10% defense chance operation bosses have by default (this should work on the ops dummy as well since its kind of the same thing). Now whethere this is true or not, I have 112 on my tech and 102 on my ranged.

So heres my confusion. Do I have to have 110 on both ranged and tech or just ranged to achieve a zero or little to none miss on the ops dummies? Is that even possible? Or am I doing something wrong? I cehcked all of the abilties that i use in my usual usage and they all are 'ranged' abilities. If i use any of my 'tech' abilities then i never miss. now according to the Compendium teh tech stuff are 100% by default and no acc rating required. So im confused now. Can you help me achieve little to no misses on the ops dummy? Do you get any misses by the way? when you see it on your parses?

    thanks again in advance

  10. It's not true.

Critical chance does suffer from diminishing returns, but the DR starts right away. Going from 50 --> 100 crit rating is a smaller increase in critical chance than going from 0 --> 50 crit rating. In other words, there's no crit soft cap -- it's just a smooth, flattening curve. Same deal with cunning and aim. (Each of the sources of critical chance (cunning, aim, and critical rating) are on their own separate DRs.)

The links in my signature have more details about stat scaling.

Oh ok! So being that im still in the 30s then i still have lots of room to play with before i get to 50% and start to see the slow diminishing returns. But none the less im still going to seeing the 40 percent critcal chance? Is that about right? Another thing, i know i just phrased it but what exactly is a diminishing return and how does it work? sounds like something from calculus or something.

    thx again

  11. so this is a bit like WoL? i can upload the whole ops group data without having the rest of the ops worry about doing anything? (always someone in the ops group is completely ignorant of anything outside the game) so i can just download this myself and use it for the whole ops?

if so ill be testing on tuesday

is there a site like World of Logs that i can upload this data too yet?

edit: after reading a few pages back dont worry, seems its a dead project now.

ok. is there anywhere i can see how to do this?

cause im usually the guy who uploads the log from my raids, so if i could do them all at once that would be awesome! tutorial anyone? or mabye just a quick run down of the steps i need to take? what needs to be running? need to be grouped already? etc. Thx!

  12. Yeah the movement is pretty much the issue for the gunslingers. Especially the sharpshooters.

One tip I do have (and this could be VERY counter intuitive if you don't have a good amount of practice) is that I'm planning on experimenting with field respecs. Since Dirty Fighting and Sab specs are a lot less cover based, you could attempt using a field respec to switch to a more movement oriented spec for those bosses.

On my next EC or TFB run, I'll see if I can get a parse and if it works I'll post something about it in here.

that would be awesome! id love to see some parses. even video if you have as well? with mox or whatever parser you have overlaying your game so i can see the dps at work in game and on the parser as well?

  13. all bosses have the same armor rating(8-10%defense)

if you are putting thoses numbers you are just fine, all classes have bosses that they do more damage, others less

Look at kephess on TFB, is hell for a melee do get high numbers, it involves alot of movement

you do less DPS not because you are hitting lower, it because you move more

thats why the "perfect" ops groups in dps is 2 range, 2 melee, BW creates bosses around that composition, range are better in same bosses, melee in others

about your stats, critical is a bit low, full buff i have 40% critical, see your critical rating, it should be 350(put you mouse under the critical % and you will see it)

Some times is not the spec, is the gear, the gear isnt perfect in stat wise, you have to change abit, take 1 mod and put another, or you just have to chance/put a diferend augment

ah i see. i keep hearing that theres a 'cap' on crit chance somewhere around 30 - 33% and then you get diminishing returns? now im not sure if this goes for particual classes and if it doesnt apply to smugglers either but its just a rumor i keep hearing about. is that true?

  14. So I hit around 1500 dps on the first boss of TFB (hm and sm) most of the time on my gunslinger sharpshooter spec. I hit around 1000 to 1100 ish when im fighting Zorn and Toth and also the tanks (both HM and SM) as well. Im assuming that im hitting higher dps because in the writhing terror fight im pretty much in one place the whole fight im in cover and dont really have to move. But with the zorn and toth fight i have to move during the red circles phase. So im wondering is that the reason why theyre not around the same dps because of me moving arond a bit? I am wondering a few things.

    * Is it because of the damage types that most of my attacks are? In the parsers it says that im mostly using enery damage types on most my attacks. being that theyre all most tech and a few range in my rotation.

    * What abou the bosses themselves? Are they less or more suseptable to my attacks? meaning are tech abilityies (energy damage types) better against the writhing terror for some reason? And are Zorn and Toth more armor against my attacks and that I should maybe switch my rotation around to get more dps covered? Are some bosses more vulnerable to different damage types in general basically (I do notice that in the zorn and toth fight that their buffs, one has internal , and the other is mental i believe) ? Those two to be exact.

Also, I cold use some help with my rotation. it seems like im not getting as much critical hits as I was before somehow, i think since im at 37% im losing crits now? Not sure. If there are SS specs out there that are achieving a high number of crits everytime Id like to get your advice or some assistance.

Ill tell you my rotation if you want to know.

    My stats:

    2088 cunning (ranged)

    100 Accuracy (ranged)

    36% Critical Chance (ranged)

    75% Critical Mult (ranged)

    674 Bonus Damage (ranged)

    960 Bonus Damage (tech)

    110% Accuracy (tech)

    35% Critical Chance (tech)

    75% Critical Mult (tech)

  15. While I agree that it takes a lot more work than other classes to do well, you also get a significant payoff. The DPS you *can* pull is amazing. I do not play a Sentinel, so I can't comment from that aspect, but as far as our energy-class counterpart goes, the commando just can't pull the same numbers. Doing "old-school" raids I've been able to pull over 2k DPS on my slinger on almost every fight, whereas its very difficult to get over 1.7k as a commando, maybe a little higher with slightly more maxed our gear. The only time a commando is really going to shine over a gunslinger is where there are phases are multiple AoE burst phases in quick succession, similar to early Kephess (but even then, the long phases of solo will usually allow other classes to surpass them again). Energy regen is ez-mode as a commando though...you hardly have to watch it, which is nice, but I personally enjoy the Gunslingers difficulties.

what kind of gear do you have? crit, surge, acc, bonus dmg?

whats your usual rotation that you hit 2000? i can barely get 1300 and im almost all 61 mods.

  16. Im noticing that when you start doing damage and the nunmbers pop out from the top, that some of them have different behaviors. So I was curious if anyone knows anything abou tthis and if it means anything? Also the colors too im curious about. So heres my Q's.

    1. Is there a differnce between the numbers just appearing (floating to the top kinda) and when the numbers seem to 'pop out' kind of effect?

    2. Is there a meaning in the colors of the numbers? Some are white , some are yellow. I think thats all i have seen so far, maybe red but i cant remember.

    3. Is there a tell between question 1 and 2 above for when I crit? Like does it get yellow on crits? or does it float differently? Also with this question, are there some kind of audio tells? Ive heard a rumor that if you have a female toon and she yells or screams during combat, that means that she just got a critical hit. Again this is just something Ive read or heard somewhere. I have a Sentinel and a Smuggler, and I cant recall if they make noises during combat but I'm not sure. So if there are audio tells does it only happen for particular classes and not all?

I know these are some random Q's and seems like its getting to boring but I have alot of curiousity :)

Thanks for the help in advance for those filling in the knowledge.
