[Why are maintenance times always so bad for APAC?]

It could be a lot worse, EVE goes down every night at 9pm for 30 min and everything resets.

I've been checking this thread almost every day since it started. I'm happy to see a decision has been made. I knew that closing down the local servers was an option when I preordered the expansion. I also know that there is no world pvp and we're not gaining anything by moving to a US pvp server. We'll still see the same faces in WZs in our local prime time because it will be after US prime time. The only difference will be higher latency. Anyway to cut to the chase I play this game because of the local servers. If there is no local server then I have no incentive to subscribe.

 

Prior to playing SWTOR I played Eve and moving to a game with local servers and good latency was a fantastic experience. If I have to play on a server with bad latency then I will probably go back to Eve when the local servers close.

While I agree that using an e-mail as login has issues, using a name visible in the forums is just plain stupid.

Why can't I have an account name which is not visible to the rest of the world?

I would like to able to move my characters from MDN to a larger population (combined) Aus server with the rest of my guild. I don't care if it's PvP or not, as long as it's a local server.

i have said all along that they are gonna have to force us back to the U.S. servers but it seems most people will quit before going back to the U.S. servers but to be honest its the easier solution to put us back on the U.S. servers

 

I won't be giving up my 25 ms latency. That's why I'm playing this game and not some other game. If they take it away then there's nothing keeping me here.

I think the game was good the first time I leveled. After the second character reached 50 I was pretty much done with the quest lines - seen 'em all and no desire to do them again. Class stories are interesting but the big hurdle is having to do the same planets over again to see another class story. It also freaks me out to hear others talking with my voice - that's a bad sensation.

I'm still playing because of the local servers, 25ms versus 600-800ms is no contest. If there were no local servers I probably wouldn't play. Also I'm on a PvP server but I don't think world PvP as it stands is worth the trouble. Players are the life of the game and currently we're spread too thin.

Having servers back up by 7pm is absolutely brilliant. I think the timing is great.

I was passing through the fleet and heard the news and the warning to stay away from Tatooine. So I stayed away, and stayed away from the fleet after that too.
