  1. Do accounts automatically unlock after a certain amount of time or is contacting CS the only way to get your account unlocked? I haven't been locked out myself and I was curious.

Bioware might want to rethink things if the accounts don't unlock after some time automatically. It seems like it would be very easy for a hacker to lock peoples accounts for fun just by putting in a wrong security answer or password forcing a lot of people to have to call CS to get their account unlocked.

If someone managed to do this to enough accounts it would create a lot of unhappy people on hold with CS and a lot of work for CS employees. Anyone know if they auto-unlock?

  2. He just joined the forums and just joined the game... must have all of 5 days experience he should know it all by now GOSH!.....

What is funny is the WoW love is pouring from his post... the irony though is that he forgot you could not fly anywhere in wow at one time when it started... let alone end game or it being NOT buggy.

    Thats the funny part...

I am entertained by this post though.

I agree that the OP just straight up lied about some of that and some of the stuff he's complaining about doesn't ever need to be in the game. It really does just sound like he's wondering why this isn't WoW.

But I must take a sec to say something to the people who say "WoW didn't have that stuff at launch!"

SWTOR isn't competing with Vanilla wow. SWTOR and any other mmo for that matter is competing with WoW as it is right now.

  3. I think you should look up how much it cost to make and maintain this game. They're going to have to do a lot more than trick fanbois into subbing for a few months to make it all back. Try again.

Also: "No communication with its players." followed by: "Encouraging players to roll alts instead of do endgame." How are they encouraging alts when they aren't communicating with us? There is actually a community event tomorrow for players: http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/12/27/swtors-reid-hosting-reddit-ama-tomorrow/

  4. Which is exactly what the game has now.

Just because the stat-affecting items are called a 'Reflex Barrel' instead of 'Blasty Gun of Shooting' doesn't mean you're not describing exactly what we already have.

No, if it were exactly then id be able to replace any of my gear with the apperance of any of the other i can aquire. If it were the same then it wouldnt limit you to orange stuff only. Sorry. Nice try.

  5. And how are you comparing 7 year old deployments with something deployed today?

    This is IT, not woodcarving.

I think you need to go back and read my post. I'm saying sure other mmos had queues but none were as bad as this. (7am and 1 hour + queue)

I work in IT as well and I agree that if anything stuff like this should be becoming less regular as the industry has moved leaps and bounds in just the last few years.

  6. I remember the following MMOs having queues at some point on launch day: WoW, EQ2, AoC, WAR, Rift, Aion, and now SWTOR.

I remember the following mmos having multiple servers with over 1 hour queues at 7am EST: SWTOR.

Of course we all remember complaining about multi-hour queue times during peak hours in other mmo launches but I never remember it getting this bad during off hours on any other MMOs.

  7. I saw dozens of servers that has LIGHT usage... quit crying.

When you have a **** load of full servers and a few lights that's how you know BW opened the extra servers too late. The others filled up before the new servers were available.

I also don't have a level 36 on any of the light servers. :p

  8. I keep seeing people say "that mmo had queues!" and I just want to say I'm not saying others didn't. I'm saying I can't remember any that had this long of queues at way off-peak hours.

Why the hell does everyone have to jump my nuts like a slapped their mothers when I'm not even ************ that hard. I'm just saying it's starting to look rough and I'm scared to see how the servers will look during peak hours. You kids need to calm down. I'm still very happy with this launch and game.

  9. Did I not just say all popular mmo launches have queues? Did I not say that? *Reads back* oh yeah, I did.

However, I can remember logging in from work on launch day to each of these games and not waiting in queue. 5pm est? Yeah, the queues would be starting to pile up. That is not the same as having hour long queues at 11am est. I can't even imagine how long those queues will be at peak times.

  10. I was around for WoW, WAR, LotRO, AoC, Rift, and Aion when they launched. Sure, some had lag, or queues, or both. However, everyone could still log in and experience the game. Essentially, all BW is doing is creating a giant queue here and 20% of that could have been at work all day. Now you may say that "this is prelaunch" or something but I've seen other mmos do head starts for preorders at launch and none took this tiered approach.

Did they say this from the beginning? Yes, and I thought it was a bad move then too. The problem with this approach isn't that it "isn't fair" because it is 100%. The problem is that anyone who hasn't been following this game since July or sooner can't get in right now and they're most likely the customers BW is going to have to impress the most. People who were on the fence, or just recently gained an interest in SWTOR are having to wait while all the die hard fans (who, lets face it, are going to play anyway) are all in getting ahead.

Just not a smart move. Managing queues would have been the way to go IMO.
