  1. Question: When is it acceptable to roll need on items?

My Vote: Whenever it is an upgrade for your current gear and spec.

If the item is for the class you are currently playing and an upgrade, then the roll of 'Need' is perfectly fine in my opinion. If the gear will be an upgrade for a companion on the current character, roll 'Greed' or ask first if you can 'Need' for a companion. Lately I've not bothered asking to roll 'Need' for companion gear, I choose to just roll 'Greed' to keep the pace of the FP or OP moving along.

It really seems you really just have to adapt to the situation. If you notice a player waiting for everyone roll then rolls 'Need' or simply rolling 'Need' on everything, then perhaps the group should react to the situation. There probably isn't a cookie cutter solution for PUGs.

  2. I don't believe the group finder will support cross server play.

IGN: The group finder has been a requested feature since The Old Republic’s launch, though there seemed to be some initial resistance against the idea because it would disrupt the flow of exploration. Why is now the right time to implement it? And does it support cross-server play?

Daniel Erickson: In the early days post-launch we wanted players to be discovering the game for the first time and forming natural social groups. A huge wave of players come in all at once in the beginning and finding a group is never really a problem for the bulk of players. Now players have spread all across the leveling curve and the Legacy system is causing players to roll new characters like never before which means we need a simple, flexible system to put players together with other players in their level band. We still want to respect the communities that have developed on servers so it does not support cross-server play.

  3. In my opinion it would be beneficial to have equipment/armor sets which can be quickly changed simply by selecting the set you want.

    Example:

Set 1 contains all the armor and equipment items to used for PvE.

Set 2 contains all the armor and equipment items to be used for PvP.

Set 3 contains armor and equipment to experiment with stats or whatever role the player wants to assign.

Switching between sets can be done via the character screen and selecting the set you want to use.

Implementation of such a feature and the ability to name the sets would be most appreciated.
