  1. Not really a bug, the cloaks have just rudimentary physics that emulate inertia and gravity more or less realistic.

For the cloaks to actually fold around the speeder, the speeder needs a collision-box and the cloak-gravity-emulator needs to check for this collision box. The next bug would be that your cloak clips trough someone else's speeder when it can hang freely on yours, and that it clips trough objects when you sit/kneel/dodge on them, so the cloak-physics-emulation would have to check for every object that is supposed to be solid. Could be quite a performance hit on the fleet with 100 players and their companions.

Right, I'm not saying there should be dynamic cloth flying off the back of your vehicle though. In the preview it swaps to a static model that wraps around your legs, no physics required. I don't know why the same thing doesn't happen once you actually get onto the vehicles.

  2. Hey everyone,

Since launch, whenever you preview a vehicle any hanging cloth becomes rigid and conforms to your legs. But when you actually get on the vehicle, the cloth will clip straight through and hang there as if you were standing. It looks pretty doofy, see the image below.

The clipping occurs on animal mounts too, but their preview doesn't show you riding so I have no example.

I'm wondering if it's something simple to fix, since the previews actually seem to either switch the model to a solid mesh or are completely uninfluenced by gravity. Obviously not game breaking, but it's pretty jarring. If a fix is possible I'm sure we'd all appreciate it!

  3. Worst case scenario just make one up, can't remember where I heard it but supposedly you can make a "Star Wars"-ish name using this:

First Name = First 3 letters of your last name, First 2 letters of your first name.

Last Name = First 2 letters of your mother's maiden name, First 3 letters of your father's name.

I'm scottish and mine ends up being gibberish :(

  4. SWG had to go due to the contract between Lucas Arts and EA/BW. The CEO of Lucas Arts gave EA/BW exclusive rights to Star Wars Online gaming. George Lucas was upset about this as both games should have been able to co-exist. Lucas then fired the CEO.

Sorry if this has already been said, but that can't be true. They might have revoked licensing specifically for SWG, but SOE still has Clone Wars Adventures, which is a multiplayer online game despite not being an MMORPG.

  5. As horrifying as it is, Bioware is indeed giving select players between $0.50 and $3 of in-game credit based on an advertising campaign that's been in place for 5 months :(

The game will either have a month tied to the registration code in the box, or include a one month game card (at least that's how every MMO I've played has handled it)

  6. Unless you level as fast as they do, you'd end up having to compete with level 50s anyway while you leveled. And if you do level as fast as they do, you'll catch up and get to 50 yourself in a few days anyway.

This! In all honesty I doubt I'll get much past level 20 after the first weekend, even if I play for the majority of every day (which I won't be able to). People are placing a lot of weight on the assumption that everyone who was invited will be able to play nonstop until launch, but that's such an unrealistic expectation. People will catch up, and even if there are level 50 friends who get to the end and gear up before you, all it means is you'll have less competition for loot once you get there :D

  8. This is awesome!

I wonder how long before the parents of children complain? i wonder if there's a maturity option setting in the game?

I hope parents don't bring this up...in a game where you can force companions to submit to you via electric shock therapy, they shouldn't be worried about PG13 romance scenes!
