  1. A: B: It does have stability issues and that continues even now. Just recently we had it go down twice outside of normal downtime and the downtime does seem to get extended on Harb more

    Thanks for your replies!

Do you have any idea how frequent the server issues are? Does it go down always during prime time or at odd hours?

  2. As the title says I'm considering moving from the Shadowlands to Harbinger since I'm more active late night ET.

I had a couple of questions:

    A. How is the casual player scene between 6pm-10pm PT? Are there many pug Ops forming? How are the Reg WZ ques?

    B. Back in the day the server had a lot of stability issues and would go down a lot. Is that still the case?

    C. Is there a dominant faction or does Imp/Pub have a good balance?

    Appreciate your feedback!

  3. Shadowlands has the best PVP matches of all the east coast servers. It doesn't insta pop like Harbinger, but there are often good players on both sides.

I'm currently lvl 68 and the PvP pops I've been experiencing are about 20 mins and it will not pop at all after 11pm ET.

Does this get any better when you hit 70?

  4. Hey all,

Due to RL I can't log in until late at night.

I was wondering if there are any late night teams starting at 10pm ET with any openings?

My preferred log-in nights are Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat

On Imp side, I have a Jug as my main (DPS and working on tanking gear) and a Merc Healer as an alt.

On Pub side the same: Guardian (DPS/Tank) and Commando Healer

    thanks!

  5. I personally take

    - Paralytic Combat Stims, Heavy Trooper, and Charged Barrier in Tier I;

    - Med Zone and Combat Shield in Tier II;

    - Shock Absorbers and Reflexive Shield in Tier III.

I do this because I really enjoy having a tanky healer that can take a lot of damage while still healing like a turret. That's my preference.

I feel Med Zone and Combat Shield in Tier II are pretty much mandatory for me -- they've been part of my build since the start and when taken together (with Reflexive Shield in Tier III) you are very hard to kill while shielded. And since Reactive Shields effective cooldown falls to about 50 seconds with Reflexive Shield (assuming you're taking damage constantly), I find it to be a very potent combination.

Of the utilities you mention, the only one I wouldn't recommend, and can't see really working well, is Kolto Wave. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea behind it. More healing tools are always good, but in this case the healing is it does is really weak in my opinion (especially for its position in Tier III). I don't think its worth it in its current state, and there are other things on Tier III that are more interesting. For instance, I can see some potential for building a more mobile (but perhaps less potent) Combat Medic that takes Advance the Line for more mobility and then something like Overclock or Forced March that also give you more mobility depending on what abilities you're using. Comes down to what you want to do.

Yeah, I was wondering about Kolto Wave because the PvE guides recommend against it also.

I was looking for more mobility with Advance the Line & Forced March, but I may try your tanky healer approach first since it seems to have good survivability. This would be the best class to do that anyway since they have Heavy Armor right?

Thanks for the help, great guide and looking forward to a Merc version too!

  6. Because if you use mainstat/power augments, and then switch some of your enhancements from surge/alacrity to accuracy to make up the necessary accuracy, you are effectively gaining mainstat/power at the expense of surge/alacrity, which is almost universally more optimal. The accuracy itself is a non-issue. It has to be at a certain amount no matter what or it can potentially destroy your rotation in addition to being a flat DPS reduction.

To put it another way, augments are by far your most versatile piece of gear, being that you can get every single stat in that slot at the same value. So locking up the most versatile gear slot you have with accuracy pieces is bad gear management. That holds true even if you mathematically determine that the surge/alacrity you have is better than the mainstat/power, because you could then just use surge/alacrity augments and still be exactly where you want to be.

Ok, but if you use your Enhancement slots to equip ACC then you need 6 or 7 (out of 10) to get to the cap. That leaves only 3 or 4 slots which is enough room for either Surge or Alacrity but probably not both. So as I said before, if we equip ACC Augs instead of Power we lose 167 Bonus Damage. Are you saying that this bonus damage is worth losing one of the secondary stats?

I understand the whole gear management argument and it makes sense, but I have not seen any parses that say if u equip all ACC Augs then that will be a DPS loss. I will test this out myself eventually but I can't afford the additional gear atm...

  7. Can someone explain to me with numbers or parses why this is "bad" for your DPS? The best argument I've heard so far is that this is trading a main with a secondary stat and that is a "fool's trade", however, I have not seen numbers to back this up.

The way I view it is how to best spend the 728 points in Augments. By equiping all ACC you are pretty much at the cap (99.71%/109.71% to be exact). If this was at the expense of Power Augs, then that is a 167 bonus damage loss or 111 DPS loss if you divide by the 1.5s GCD. If your min parse is 2500 DPS then this will be a max 4.5% DPS loss.

We now have 728 points to use for Alacrity and Surge. We can equip enough Quick Savant Enhancements to make up for the 4.5% DPS loss (4 at 186 rating) and the remaining Enhancement slots can be used for Surge or more Alacrity for a net DPS gain.

Am I oversimplifying this? Is there something I'm not taking into consideration?

    I apologize if I'm making theorycrafters cringe...lol

P.S. I'm currently testing this out with my main in my raid group. My numbers are still pretty high and I'm always first or second DPS after boss fights.

  9. Here is my last parse:

    http://www.torparse.com/a/429644/4/0/Damage+Dealt

I still feel like Slaughter should be proc'ing more often...but I may be wrong

In your experience do you think Slaughter is proc'ng at a "normal" rate by looking at the log?

Ok I'm going to attempt to answer my own question with some rough calculations...

I compared my dummy parse to the top Marauder parse. Lets just call the top parser "Joe".

I counted mine and Joe's Slaughter procs in the logs by using the find "gains Slaughter" function.

So Joe's parse was 5.10 mins and he had 13 procs. So his rate is 2.55 procs/min

My parse was 10.90 mins and I had 28 procs. My rate is 2.57 procs/mins

So my rate is actually a little higher and if you consider that's Joe's APM is higher than mine (48 vs 44) his rate is even less.

Conclusion: There is nothing wrong with RNG...just my perception
