  1. As for joining up with the Mandos, that's a cause Mako would've jumped at. Mako loves helping the little guy and overthrowing tyrants. What better way to do that then helping her Hubbys family by using her skills to fight back with the mandos against the eternal empire and stem the ee subjugation of other worlds?

I think you are heavily romanticizing what Mandos do and are. They have honor and their own code, but they are basically glorified mercenaries. They've worked for both factions and I'm sure if the Alliance somehow becomes the powerhouse of the galaxy instead of the EE, they will turn on them very quickly.

Who they are and what they are about don't really fit into Mako's little world.

  2. *Shrug* Everyone has their own variance on how they rank combat feats.

In regards to Pierce, don't get me wrong, he is freaking awesome. One of my favorites tbh. That doesn't mean that feat wise, he is superior to those listed above him. Jorgan for example, at the start of the Trooper story, would be ranked much lower but throughout the expansions, dialogues, and expositions we get a much better picture, albeit this happens with all of the companions. However, in KOFTE we got a more updated look at Jorgan and he was the new lead of Havoc squad, and throughout the cinematics you can note some impressive skill.

Pierce on the other hand, while interesting, has not had as successful of a career, so to speak. No, I am not making a joke about being stuck behind a desk :d_wink: but rather that some of his more impressive feats are not strictly combat based, which is all that this list is supposed to portray. In fact, leadership wise Pierce I would say completely blows away KOTFE Jorgan. For example, his ability to lead strike teams for devastating effect are show cased on Corellia and Taris, but his individual showings are more along the lines of a high ranking Commando. For example, if you pay attention to what Pierce says when you are assaulting the pirates on Taris and he is clearing the way for you, it does show an incredible ability to lead, secure ground for his squad, and to hold out. Jorgan on the other hand, is an accomplished sniper, Havoc Leader (most elite of elite), and has multiple cases of leading successful guerilla campaigns against numerically superior forces by himself.

In short, by themselves, Jorgan is the better fighter, but Pierce is much better when working with others, he is more of a combat multiplier, if you will.

(In case you are wondering why I compared these 2, it was due to proximity of the list I provided)

Side Note: I need to stop going on and on about Pierce/Jorgan, since they have quite a few similarities lol. :d_frown:

After Thought: That all could of been summarized as "Those above Pierce have factors that would allow them a larger edge, and make them more combat effect"... Curse my half awake sense of logic! (By this I mean for example M1-4X's beyond state of the art defensive systems, Xalek's stealth killing skills, the HK series advanced systems and efficency, ect ect...)

The logic behind your Pierce ranking makes sense, I agree with a lot of it. However, I think you are underplaying or just forgetting that Pierce leads an Imperial Black Ops/Shadow Ops team. A hugely successful one, I might add, as seen in his companion arc. Those guys are the Empire's version of Havoc Squad and both are the elite of their factions.

I rank Pierce over Jorgan because while both are elite, can fluidly think and adapt to the current situation and are accomplished warriors; Pierce follows orders(even if your choice does not match his alignment approval) while Jorgan will straight up disregard orders if he doesn't agree with them. Nobody wants a mindless automaton behind the wheel of their tier one SpecOps teams but the ability to follow orders is key.

This also may be my faction bias but I think Imperial Black Ops are slightly more dangerous than Havoc Squad, they don't worry about blowback or collateral damage when operating.

  3. While Broonmark is rather strong, and exceptionally skilled... It depends on a few things in regards to his 'ranking' when compared against other companions.

Personally, I have a few above him, even despite his new showings, but nor is he anywhere near the bottom.

My opinions of companion combat strength, excluding CM companions:

Just to note... I have been here since early access, and have... Many... toons, which has led to me getting to know a good deal about each companion. Suffice to say, I have had a lot of time to think on my rankings of them. :d_grin:

Side Note: If you want to ask questions or ask me to explain why I rank specific companions, I am more than willing to do so, its been kinda slow around here lately. :d_wink:

In my opinion, some of your rankings are borked but not a bad ranking list. Pierce for example, is ranked far too low.

    1. Did anyone get to confront Arcann with Mandalore like the advertisement said? Because I sure didn't. I got to confront a sky trooper factory with Mandalore while Arcann sat billions of light years away watching me from surveillance, but direct or communicative confrontation with him? Neh, that didn't happen for me. Not even a holo argument. It's more accurate to say I confronted the Zakuul empire, but I seem to do that routinely anyway. Something about the way that chapter was advertised and the way it went down has given me the irritating notion that I was taken for a ride by click bait or rather subscribe bait.

    2. Why couldn't I shoot Torian? Torian abandoned my wife Mako on Cadera so he could follow Mandalore. Let me repeat... He abandoned his leaders woman by her lonesome so he could follow a different leader. Sorry, you did what again!? Don't know about anyone else, but I feel there should've been a 'dismantle Torian' option there. His statement was asinine and the way he just casually dropped that he left my small hacker wife to bring home the bacon by herself on the bounty hunter circuit was nothing short of enraging. If he had been lost, you can be sure my Mando would make sure his woman and children would be taken care of the rest of her days and want for nothing.

    1. I'm pretty sure they said we would start taking the fight to Arcann, as in being aggressive in our campaign against the EE,not actually fighting him.

    2. So? A majority of the companions did the exact same thing. You're mad because you feel like your female comp need protecting in your absence? Pretty sure she can handle herself or at least get by. Lighten up.

  4. the devs are demoralized, parts of this playerbase have done their best to demotivate the devs at every turn. Look at the threads populating the front page of General Discussion ( /community/forumdisplay.php?f=255 )

What would you do if the most vocal players profess how much they hate what you've worked on for years.

I'd ignore it as forum posters are at best, 5-10% of your game population. Thats not a guess but a statistical average that was conducted a few years ago.

Not to say the devs completely ignore forum outcries, but forum posters are just a very vocal minority.

  5. Was not Darth Acina one of the replacements?

Yes, Acina replaced Darth Hadra initially but later retconned to Acina replacing Darth Karrid

    • Darth Acharon-killed by Pubbies on Corellia
    • Darth Acina-replacement to Hadra/Karrid,current Sith Empress
    • Darth Arctis-unexplained death
    • Darth Arho -killed by Pubbies on Ilum
    • Darth Baras -replacement to Vengean, killed by Empire's Wrath on Korriban
    • Darth Decimus-killed by Pubbies on Corellia
    • Darth Hadra-killed by Pubbies on Corellia
    • Darth Howl -???
    • Darth Jadus-removed from the DC, either dead, arrested and escaped or in hiding
    • Darth Karrid-killed by Theron Shan aboard The Ascendant Spear
    • Darth Marr-killed by Valkorian/Vitiate in The Eternal Throneroom
    • Darth Mortis-???
    • Darth Nox/Imeprius/Occulus-replaced Thanaton,currently The Outlander
    • Darth Ravage-???
    • Darth Sajar-turned traitor and joined the Jedi
    • Darth Thanaton -defeated by Nox/Imperius/Occulus, killed by Mortis
    • Darth Vengean -killed by Empire's Wrath on Korriban
    • Darth Vowrawn -??? last seen kneeling to Arcann
    • Darth Zhorrid-either dead at the hands of Cipher Nine or ???

  6. This is all very good points. And reason to not execute him if he defies your orders.

I'd argue those very reasons should be used for executing him. A well respected, decorated veteran goes repeatedly off the reservation, willfully disregards the chain of command and gets executed for it. Only a few others would serve as powerful examples to let everyone know who is in charge and what happens if you disobey orders or fail.

  7. Perhaps you don't know your AC as inside and out as you think. I have toons in both factions and no way is one faction's classes more overpowered than the other. The class design doesn't work like that.

Maybe it's time for some humility and start reading class guides and see if you can get better than you think you are.

  8. First of all, thank you for your corrections. Regarding Khem Val - that's only a guess, at this moment in time, I think. But with Xalek you were right, same with the Trooper and the Smuggler. Guss Tano has not joined or is announced for #14 - so 15, maybe ? But yes, thanks for putting that right. Just please edit your comment to not spoiler, thank you. There are 2 more in the main story you have not mentioned (Firebrand/Havoc Squad and all that), but that aside - the number of returned "old companions" is very low compared to the number of chapters we've been through - at least, that's how I feel. And you?

Addendum: Maybe you are right and one should not count any companion, who ist joined to the alliance through a side quest. But that was not my main point here, and even so - it would only strengthen my argument ;)

The devs have outright said Ak’ghal Usar is not meant to replace Khem Vhal. From April's livestream-Quote: "We have not revealed the fate of Khem Val. Ak’ghal Usar is not meant to replace Khem Val. "

  9. I see your point, but honestly if SWTOR ever decided to go the "hero class" route I highly doubt Droid would be one of them.

1,2 and 3 certainly apply. All you have to do is a little forum searching to see what BW has said and has continually said even going F2P and CC items.

I'd never say never, but I'd be immensely surprised if this ever came to pass.

Out of curiosity, how would you handle a Droid class in PvP with all the droid only CCs available to the other classes on top of their regular CCs? Completely disable them while leaving Droid PC classes with their humanoid CCs?

  10. Not sure where you got the idea its like a MOBA from, its pretty much a straight up shooter with classes (think Team Fortress 2 but shinier and with less hats)

From people in this thread and multiple gaming forums, Twitch streamers, gaming sites, Reddit...and on and on. Some people are very adamant that it isn't, others are that it is. The current term being applied to it seems to be "MOBA infused FPS".

  11. Then I got forced to see some of the trailer for it in one of those bloody pop-up video adverts (I could do another rant about them. Anyone remember the days of dial-up when webpages somehow loaded faster than they do now?) and noticed something odd about Tulip. What was the motivation behind this complete change? Couldn't they find someone who looked a bit more like the Tulip from the book?

I get it that some people weren't happy at the lack of inclusion in the Academy Awards, and this is obvious in too many films - trying to make Scarlett Johansen look Asian instead of casting an Asian actress for "Ghost in the Shell", for a very recent example - but this is just weird.

I'm sure Ruth Negga is a good actress, and she will probably play the part well, but it's just breaking my immersion in the show. I'm still going to watch at least the first couple of episodes, but it's already tainted - much like that absolute tragedy they made of the brilliant "Being Human" with the American version.

    /endrant

The fact that she isn't white or blonde is what may ruin it for you? I guess I can kind of understand that when you are used to a visual representation and it changes. Sometimes the acting of the person is just so good that you overlook the fact that they don't physically represent the character they are portraying. It happens all the time and isn't always about avoiding a white washed cast in this PC age.

I ran into a similar issue when they cast Tom Cruise(all 5 foot 7 inches of him) to play Jack Reacher(who is described as 6'5" and 230-250 lbs) from the Jack Reacher books in the movie version. Cruise did an all right job but the physical difference bugged me throughout the movie. Granted that was less about avoiding a white washed cast and more about attaching a big name to the movie.

However, Ruth Negga is a fantastic actress and she may just win you over. It's been a while since I've read Preacher but isn't Tulip Irish or Irish American? Ruth Negga is half Irish and was raised in Ireland so she'll be able to peg that aspect of Tulip spot on.

  12. 1. Droids can't use the force, which locks them out of four classes.

    2. Romances. Bioware has said repeatedly that species who aren't humanoid wouldn't be made playable due to this. They also mentioned non Basic speaking species as a no go as well(doesn't apply to droids here)

    3. BW has strongly hinted, if not outright said that there won't be anymore classes. See 1 and 2 if you specifically mean as a species and not class.

  13. It's a fallacy to go by sheer numbers of balancing which classes got which companions back when it's been stated that popular companions will not return just for the sake of returning. It's all about the story. (Whether or not you like the story is n entirely different matter)

That being said, Torian will most likely be the last companion until the next expansion (season 2) to have a story arc.

3 more chapters to go in season 1 and you think Torian will be the last story arc related one this season? Genuinely curious as to what makes you think this may be the case.

  14. Anyone else suspect that it'll be attacked before the Season 2 finale?

    Death tolls possible?

I doubt the Ukranians would be happy about this at all. Odessa is a nice place. Odessen? Probably.

  15. Have to love when people refuse to grasp the concept of drop rates and then rage about it. Buying more of something that includes a rare item you want does not mean you are guaranteed to get that item; it just means you have slightly increased your chances of getting one. If an item has a 2% drop rate, the drop rate does not increase if you purchase in bulk; the drop rate remains the same but your odds increase.

It's the same concept as the lotto and most gambling games and those odds are always in the house's favor.
