  1. I could not agree with you more. Even with the gutting of Assault, it's still the better spec for PvP imo. It sucks, don't misunderstand me, but it beats the constant interrupts that plague Gunnery.

Try baiting interrupts with charged bolts, most melee go after the first castbar they see. If you're catching 2-3 interrupts you shouldn't be standing still anymore as you're probably 1-2 seconds from going splat

  2. Yeah I really don't understand why people take lowbie pvp so seriously. Are people really so dense that they don't realize that anything below level 55 is just like sub 50 pvp was pre 2.0? There's no way, it's got to be just one big long troll train.
  3. I really feel that pvp in it's current state will have melee players rolling ranged more often as all of the ranged are much much more scary than before 2.0. There really isn't a "free kill" anymore. Even commandos/mercs have escapes that are enough to make a melee have to swap targets
  4. Do you mean you think they're not on track or that my math is off? Your response is unclear.

    12/11/12 - 1.6 drops

    12/18/12 - 1 week

    12/25/12 - 2 weeks

    1/1/13 - 3 weeks

    1/8/13 - 4 weeks

    1/15/13 - 5 weeks

    1/22/13 - 6 weeks

    1/29/13 - 7 weeks

    2/5/13 - 8 weeks

    2/12/13 - 9 weeks

And as to the question of whether I'd want them to release a buggy version or wait, the response is that while obviously I would prefer a clean version, what I would most want in that situation is to be told earlier rather than later. If they're delayed, let us know. Yes, there will be fussing, but if they wait till the last minute that fussing will get a lot lot worse.

I answered the only question you asked.

  5. Source?

I also would like to see this source. I'm a returning player who is on the fence about playing my Commando. My current internal battle is "Do I play the class that might get buffed(commando) or do I play the class that will probably catch a nerf(shadow)." Probably going with commando. Oh and fyi I love slamming my crank in car doors, so commando pvp must be for me!

  6. Explain how Rebuke is an attack/taunt? Rebuke is a CD that you activate, costs nothing, is off the GCD, and provides 20% additional DR, not to mention that it only deals damage (and only a token quantity at that) as a reflective property. The only weird thing about it is that it requires you be attacked in order to refresh the duration, which can last up to 30 seconds. It's also on a 60 second CD, which makes it friggin' *amazing*.

As to the quality of Shadow CDs, Shadows have the best CDs *of the tank classes*. Sentinels have the best outright of *all* classes. There isn't even any debate about this. Guarded by the Force is disgustingly powerful (50% of current hp for 99% DR and you can be healed up while it's going on? it seems like a lot when you're at full health, but, when you're below 50%, it's barely noticeable), and Rebuke has the best average contribution of any CD in the game when it gets its full duration (going from 70% incoming damage to 50% incoming damage is a 40% reducing in incoming damage with a 50% baseline uptime if you're actually being attacked and it works against both K/E *and* I/E damage). Saber Ward is still just as good as it's always been, and Pacify, while it's worthless against Ops bosses, is *ridiculous* on pretty much anything else. Transcendence also provide an extra 10% M/R defense on a remarkably good potential uptime if you're really focused on maximizing your survivability. Force Camouflage is questionable as a survivability CD while solo, but it's amazing in groups when you need to avoid AoE damage.

Compare Rebuke (amazing), Saber Ward (nice, but on a long CD), Pacify (amazing), Transcendence (decent), Guarded by the Force (amazing), and Force Camouflage (decent) against what Shadows get: Resilience (amazing) and Deflection (amazing). Blackout is decent if you're Infiltration, but it's not going to approach the effectiveness of Rebuke, Guarded by the Force, or even Pacify. The big reason why Sentinels are so devastating in PvP is because they've got great burst dps, great sustained DPS, and simply *absurd* burst survivability; the basic strat when trying to kill a properly played Sentinel/Marauder 1v1 is to just wait out their CDs whenever they blow them while praying that they don't just kill you in the intervening time. No other class has so many "lol, free-to-beat-you-in-the-face-without-the-threat-of-taking-damage-myself time" buttons.

As to their armor, Shadows do not, as you have posited, have better armor than Sentinels thanks to Shadowy Veil. Shadowy Veil adds 30% armor. Medium Armor provides ~41% more armor than Light Armor does. Shadowy Veil just gets it close enough that the difference isn't really all that major. The only reason that Shadows manage better passive mitigation than equivalently geared Sentinels is because all Consulars get a baseline 10% defense chance, which, when combined with Shadowy Veil, provides a slight edge over Sentinel mitigation (in DG gear, Sents have 29.7% mitigation, Shads w/o Shadowy Veil have 27.9% mitigation, and Shads w/ Shadowy Veil have 32%).

    Should I read this?

  7. Well check again, because Obliterate (that's the jugg version) is the ONLY ability that can leap to someone in cover. Not sure if that's intentional or not, but it's inconsistent that only one ability works. Trust me, I've learned the hard way that it is possible to be leapt to in cover.

Obliterate is a 10 yard "leap" that costs rage/focus and doesn't build it. The "jump" saves a jugg possibly half a second of running before he's in actual melee range.

  8. I love my assault commando and would prefer to play him over my pyro powertech, but based on "the internet's" opinion that would be pretty silly.

Can anyone who has experience in ranked warzones give an account of how things are going for you and your team? I'd really like some assurance that it won't be a total waste of time to get a commando to war hero in hopes of pvping as dps. Thanks in advance.

  9. If you're focus specced you'll do tons of burst damage and shouldn't have any problems for end game DPS in that tree..

Vigilance on the other hand has some problems. I can maintain good DPS but I been in situations where my Overhead Slash which is our hardest hitting attack is often parried, or absorbed by a shield. And with Plasma Brand being a lack luster talent it really hurts Vigilance because it's a elemental attack with low initial damage, high focus cost and to see the full dmg of the talent you have to wait 12 seconds.

12 seconds is a long time in PvP. The Vengeance and Vigilance trees need some serious work.

I really dislike the fact that Focus trumps all DPS trees for both the Guardian and Sentinel. It's disappointing because eventually unless things are fixed and balanced in other trees, EVERY SINGLE Knight and Warrior is going to be focused specced, unless tanking.

Disregard literally everything this guy said.
