  1. Marksman Sniper is all ranged damage, no tech.

So would there be any harm in putting in some Aim gear in replacement of Cunning if I dont have the same tier cunning piece as the aim?

Since cunning mostly buffs tech and not ranged it seems like a fair trade (assuming I am excluding the 9% cunning boost from the math)

Like if I have a better aim piece than cunning. Like I have a 78 aim piece instead of a 66, mathmatically it tells me that the aim piece would be better since I dont need the tech bonus

  2. To me, the best girl gamer is one you don't even know is a girl.

Good girl gamers don't advertise their gender, rarely talk in voice chats and are sexually neutral in all conversations.

Overly dramatic girls ruin guilds and cause favourtism in a genre where it isn't needed.

Basically, if you're a girl, just shut up about it.

  3. You seem to believe the only way to improve is with an built-in dps meter. Not sure how you draw that conclusion.

    .

How is a person who has never played an MMO before going to know if their rotation is sub-standard and their DPS isn't up to scratch if they don't get told by the game?

  4. i think the problem here is that some new people don't understand how their rotations are supposed to work. as an example, maybe you've just gotten used to spamming an attack that was meant for a different spec tree. it looks like a grenade, so you think it does a lot of damage, but it just doesn't. if you're leveling planets a level or two ahead of the content, you're probably still killing everything really easy and may not notice you don't know what you're doing. if you call someone out, their pride often acts defensively and they are going to blame someone else or for whatever reason they won't accept that they aren't performing adequately.

there isn't anything in game to provide that sort of information. i'm pretty sure this is the sort of problem the OP is talking about, and i've seen the same sort of thing in quite a few pugs. having a third party download, better gear/gear checks, or even training dummies, doesn't help people that don't know there is a problem. telling someone they suck at dps when you don't have any data to back up the claim isn't a helpful solution.

this doesn't apply to healers. if you're a dps and you keep dying, either you're pulling agro when you shouldn't or you're gear is so bad you can't survive a few weak enemies. this doesn't apply to tanks either. the tank has to hold agro and follow whatever fight mechanics are set up. a meter isn't necessarily going to help them, and if you wipe due to a tank not hitting their taunt button or the healer not keeping the tank alive, it's probably not the dps's fault.

Yeah this is what I pretty much meant with the thread.

People just don't realise what they're doing isn't optimal.

  5. People keep mentioning 'having fun' though I must ask being sub-par is entertaining?

    I agree.

People might want to casually relax while playing, and if you do, why not just do the dailies?

You have to realise that HM FPs are a TEAM effort and people are supposed to be pulling their own weight in them.

  6. So basically what the people who oppose personal meters is that it's other players jobs to teach people how to use their class and do sufficient enough damage to be able to complete content?

Just tell me that's how MMO's should be played and I'll deal with it.

edit: It is pugged HM FP's for the weeklies. I keep getting put in groups where people hit the enrage timers a lot and I don't exactly know what to say to them. One time we hit enrage quite a bit and said the group needs to step up DPS. This resulted in the DPS both blaming the other person and the whole group falling apart.

If it had personal meters of "yes" or "no", then people would be able to see that they need to improve and wouldn't blame the other person.

  7. Or you could casually try talking to them and helping them improve. Kicking is a last resort, not a first reaction. I want to believe that you're not actually an tool however the fact that you keep saying "bads" and *kick* is getting in the way of taking you seriously.

I only call them bad because that's what I'm used to saying.

People can be bad DPS. Not everyone can be good at games. People are good at different things.

It's perfectly fine for me to call people bad because I don't sugarcoat it.

I just want people to see that they could be improving without me having to tell them that they're lacking, is that too much to ask for? Meters for personal improvement?

  8. Instead of an elitest attitude why don't you try to be more helpful. Suggest spec sites and places they can find there rotation. Unless you are puggin. If that's the case then that's what pugs are. If these are guild runs then maybe you should be more helpful.

How is it elitist? I dont care how much DPS you have as long as you have enough to clear the instance. I'm not asking for specific numbers I'm just asking for a green light if the person is pulling their weight. And I always pug my HM FPs. I enjoy helping people and carrying tanks through. I can carry bad gear but I cant carry DPS.

If this is a persons first MMO then maybe they don't know they are up to par.

Is it my job to say "Sorry your DPS isnt very good, check google for tips" then kick them?

This is not a new request and has been discussed alot on the forums in the past, There are 3rd party ones available to use to check your dps.

I'm not going to ask pugs in FPs to download a 3rd party program just for that. All I want is them to know if they can do it or not.

As I've said. I don't care about numbers.

  9. E-peen meters ? No, thank you.

It's easy enough to be an *** already. No reason to make it easier. Even when bosses are dying without enraging it'll be abused to harass other people.

No, what I'd want is a personal meter noone else but the DPS can see, where it just says if your DPS is good enough for the encounter.

And maybe it tells the rest of the group if the person is doing really bad DPS so they can be removed.

Who wants to carry someone really bad through a FP?

edit: it doesnt even have to say your DPS number, just a green light that says you're adequate skill level for the raid / FP

Because sometimes the player needs to play the game and not be handheld through scenarios.

I'm all for wanting to boost ones performances however needing to be prompted by the system takes the challenge out of encounters in my opinion.

Then how do people know if they need to improve? I've seen loads of people while healing who casually click abilities with a second delay between skills and think they're doing perfectly fine, these people will never want to improve if they don't know they're doing wrong.

Either the system has to tell them they're bad or other players. Personally I'd rather the game call them bad than for me to be forced to say "Your DPS isnt good enough, *kick*

  10. I'm a healer on all my characters and I hate having to carry bad DPS through FPs.

Problem is, some of them probably dont even know they're bad.

How about instead of specific numbers on personal DPS meters, it would just tell the person whether they are on par with the enrage of the boss? Just to let them know if they need to improve?

It's always awkward for me to have to tell the DPS to step up their game and they have no idea that what they are doing is really low damage.

How about something that can just tell people if they need to improve or not?

Gear isn't everything. I know good gear doesnt equal good DPS.

  11. Actually I really like the look of this gear. My fave peice, it may not be tionese, but my fave was the light Armor headress that was shaped like a fan. I really want to be able to buy, craft or kill someone to be able to get this item again.

I think you're talking about the WH Inq headpiece.

PST "Arcreon" or "Admiralm" on Bastion.

    I can craft it.
