  1. What has me concerned is that its running that hot sitting on ilum. I do a lot of PvP and am concerned as to how hot it runs in warzones, which ill test tonight.

At the very least I'm going to make sure the next laptop I buy doesn't vent all its heat out the left side, since I can keep coffee hot just be setting it to the left of my laptop while playing swtor.

I have good experience with this kind of laptop:

    http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_ROG_G750JH/

GTX780M is about a GTX770, CPU is slower than it's desktop counterparts, but it's always like that.

The laptop is pretty large because of it's cooling system, I would not settle for anything less thou.

  2. We get 7 points instead of 51, and we get same utility skills in any spec, and that means more options???????? for players or for devs?

You do actually get the same amount of points, some of them the game slots for your role though, simply because that is what you should slot for that role.

So the new system makes it easier for newbies to setup their talents and still allows some flexibility on the side.

Nothing is worse than doing an OPS with a tank or healer who got it all wrong.

The other part is PvP balance, I guess some hybrid specs where just to OP.

  3. Me as a returning player who haven't played for nearly over a year I find new discipline system very clear and very well optimized. I no longer have to go through useless skills picking up 3%-9% dmg increase in skill to advance up in skill tree.

I feel exactly the same way, the new system is very simple to set points in, and allows some more flexibility without taking away the main skills used for your role.

  4. Try switching instances. could be the number of players on the instance your playing on is causing lag.

This rarely helps on the heavy populated servers atm., plus that some areas only got 1 instance.

The current lag issues seems to have another source of the problem too, since several people had lag in low populated areas, did not see a single player state that he/she didn't have the issue..

  5. I'm on a PvP server and I'm with the OP on this...I'm 100% fine getting jumped while out questing...but it's bull $#!^ that it happens as I'm loading in...especially given the freaking faction disparity this game suffers from. I'm fine dying, I love PvPing...but getting ganked by AOEs as I load in is just stupid...why would you support such stupidity?

Quest hubs should have x seconds combat immunity when a player logs in.

If it's out in the areas themselves it's a players own problem really, since immunity out there can be misused aka exploited.

But the 10 second logout could maybe be increased, can give issues in OPS upon a dc though, and add possibility to add a loading immunity.

  6. Not everyone has that sort of time to play the game...maybe they just want to login after work and play... Not get on and worry about crafting and GTN trading

Plus it's the principle... They make all early access people pay millions of credits to train... Then make it free for those who didn't really care enough about the game to get early access

I'm all for them removing the training costs... But they should either give us all refunds on those credits or keep the training costs as they are so everyone is in the same boat

It was said 1 or 2 days after it went live, so why did people use a lot of credits on it anyway well knowing that their would be no refunds?

I did on some of my chars, cause I couldn't care less, but those who did (you included) should just have waited it out. ;)

  7. If you are not on a PvP server don't flag.

    Problem solved.

    /thread

Easy to avoid when your a tank that uses AoE taunt and debuff......

Not to mention those in your group that use AoE too..

That is the issue on PvE servers, people get flagged because someone stealths into an opposite factions AoE to get them flagged, where after the rest of the gank squad joins in.

Makes one wonder why the heck do these players even play on a PvE server.

  8. That is still not taking responsibility for your actions. You are still blaming someone else that you left an active credit card open on a game that had easy access to MT's.

I took my responsibility by getting billed, paying the bill, and afterwards canceling the account. ok?

What part of "credit cards gets automatic added to any other game added under your Origin account without any layer of security but a logon password" is hard to understand for you?

  9. At some point you have to take responsibility for your own actions. You are completely able to remove your billing info from your account at any time.

Yes, and by doing so the SWTOR subscription is canceled as well. ;)

You see, I never added any credit card information to Wrath of Heroes, but since the same account is used to create an account and download the game via EA Origin it gets added automatic it seems.

I find it rather a breach in security that it works that way.

Someone with access to a SWTOR players email would easy be able to compromise the account that way, not sure if the authenticator even works up against Origin.

  10. So you let a 6 year old play a Teen rated game, unattended on your account, and complain about the consequences?

Sorry, I just don't see how that's the fault of someone else.

The rating is completely unrelated to how billing is handled, it could have been an older person with no English skills playing if that matters.

I'm not complaining, I made my choice, question is if anything is done about the poor credit card handling.

  11. No, not after I got billed for a Warhammer Wrath of Heroes in-game purchase which was made by my 6 year old nephew, when I was on the bathroom a few minutes while he was playing that game.

I find it absurd that my SWTOR subscription bound credit card was automatic billed by a Free 2 Play game that allows purchases in-game without the slightest security confirmation.

If that doesn't change I will never touch anything released by Bioware/EA or any other company that houses their billing under Origin.

The unprofessional reply by customer service turned me completely off, which led to immediate subscription cancellation from my side.

I wanted to write about this in the last customer experience form, but after seeing that the questions regard other genres and games I didn't even bother to fill in a single field.

Does Bioware even care about swtor anymore?

  12. So now its down to 3.

I did not play WAR or RIFT nearly as long as WoW. So maybe they added time off at the tail end? Cause at that point I moved on.

WoW - Played very spastically in Vanilla WoW, Spent alot of time split between EQ1 and EQ2 during that span. Played the **** out of TBC, never got any reimbursed time there. Hmmm maybe they did a little bit in the WotLK, played that to cap and quit, but during my play time i received no compensation. And then even went back and played Cata, Played the hell out of Cata... brought all my toons to max, even leveled new toons from scratch to max, enjoyed the remade stories. But again, I do not recall ever having them re-credit me for a day, just continually charging my card month to month.

I remember them adding gametime several times from Vanilla to Cataclysm cause of unplanned server downtimes.

  13. One thing I think would have been even better is if you had reached a character on PTS to 50, then you deserve it more than anybody who has 6 level 30 characters.

So your saying that people that can't do so because they got a lot of work IRL are worth less than those who can spent more time on the fun?

  14. Couldn't agree more even if I have more than one level 50 character myself.

Rewards like this one should be based on subscription time and not a players character level.

That like in a harsh way saying: "We don't care how much you payed, but thank you for having no life."

  15. First stop basing your claims around hutball. Because that WZ does give Sorc's an advantage. A good team knows how to get rid of that advantage.

Second get better. I play with many different classes and they all do very well. I take a break and people who are not good at PvP are still crying...

There is not a single class who has not smoked me at one point. I am a full BM and Infernal Sorc that knows what he is talking about and has fun when he loses. There is not a single class you can not tell me at certain point is OP. Welcome to PvP, learn to think ahead and execute properly.

    Player > Class.

    +1 Exactly!

And neither is PvP about 1 vs 1 balance, which is where a lot of forum complainers always fail.

  16. Why play the game at all if you know your class is so OP and will always win?

Same reason why some people grief and camp low level players in other games where that is possible.

I don't see them classes as OP though, learn to team up and time them interrupts and crowd control skills.

I think it is more a matter of getting control of those XX amount of skills available for use.

Although, I couldn't care less about top dps/hps, its all about winning the game and not getting the highest frag score.

  17. The DirectX update is the main key, since Windows Update won't do that for you.

    (1) Right click whatever shortcuts you use to launch the game and set it to Run as Administrator in its Properties.

Not necessary if the application doesn't require administrator rights or the user is logged in as the administrator.

Also the shortcut only points to the launcher and not the games executable.

    (2) In that same Properties window, set that shortcut to run in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) Compatibility Mode.

Negative, gives a crash if you don't set it for both the launcher as swtor.exe, at least what I have seen on Windows Pro x64.

The game runs native DirectX 9 so you wont even need to use any compatibility mode, no benefits gained from it.

Try to investigate swtor.exe with CFF Explorer.

    (3) Open your Nvidia Control Panel, and left click the link on the left panel that says "Adjust image settings with preview". Checkmark "Use my preference emphasizing:" and switch the slider all the way to Performance.

Sure, if you have some old or very slow card...

Else High Quality works just fine, 111 FPS with everything maxed out.

    (4) Click the link under the previous one that says Manage 3D Settings. Where it says Texture Filtering - Quality, set it to High Performance.

    Same as above

    (5) Make sure your video card drivers are up to date by clicking Help at the top menu bar in your Nvidia Control Panel, and then clicking Updates.

I would never advise automatic anything regarding Nvidia drivers.

Go to Nvidia.com and download the newest driver, uninstall the current graphic, physx and 3dvision driver, reboot and install the downloaded package with the Clean Install option checked.

There are rare cases where you will need to do a "clean install"

In such case, the best is to follow this guide step by step instead of using any magic cleaning utilities: http://www.overclock.net/t/1150443/how-to-remove-your-nvidia-gpu-drivers#post15432476

    (6) For AMD users, right click your Catalyst icon in your system tray and change your display profile to "Performance".

Again, if the card is very old or just generally slow.

  18. Anyone who played Guild Wars does support an option for solo endgame content.

And I guess the same goes for many DDO players.

Both a Multiplayer games, but if you like them they can be enjoyed both as group as solo.

There are some instance that are pretty hard to solo even there thou, since NPC AI is far from a real player.

On the other hand it's a worthy challenge for player trying to do it on her/his own.

Most players do group up in both of these games thou, since that ends up with less frustration. :p
