  1. as soon as they figure out a way to monetize it with Cartel Coins rest assured it will be in-game. give them time to figure out how much to charge for it

They gotta make a new cartel pack that will give rarely give you a random datacron that you can unlock for the whole account.

  2. I've been playing the Imperial Agent for a few days now. At level 10, after much consideration, I decided to go operative over sniper because it seemed like a cool class that snuck around and then stabbed people. However, after awhile I decided that operative was much too slow and had pitiful damage output, so I just thought to myself "well I tried out operative and didn't like it, I should probably go sniper". That's when I found out that YOU CAN NEVER CHANGE YOUR ADVANCED CLASS. Why wouldn't Bioware let players change their advanced class. At this point I was level 18 and if I wanted to go sniper I would have to repeat about 3 days of work. I have loved this game so far, but this is the first major issue that I have run into. I hate myself for saying this, but WoW did it better.

3 days of work to level 18? Wow maybe you should DO IT AGAIN so you can learn to play a litttle bit better. i can get to level 18 in like 3 hours of work.....

  3. Honest question though.... have you guys tried... Not sucking?

This. A lot of people say meters don't matter. Well those people are bad. If you can't do more than 100,000 damage in a warzone than you are doing SOMETHING WRONG. It's as simple as that.

  4. This patch hasn't been well received to say the least. Not by folks here on the forums or by folks in the game. I know how fashionable it is to argue and be contrary and pretend to be an expert on semantics or programming or legal matters but I can assure you that this patch is a total and utter mess.

What is truly disappointing to me personally is that I was really looking forward to all of these features. These were the QOL features that I would've pointed to when talking to friends or folks who have left the game. Instead, we ended up with a total mess.

    ARMOR DYES

This is by far the worst abomination since playing the space portion of SWTOR. Almost (not quite) as bad as when they announced Cartel Packs. This is a simple system folks. This is one of those things that people were clamoring for well before beta.

Instead of adding a simple color picker or an extra tab on the Cartel Market you choose to over design and over complicate the most trivial of features. We would have all gladly paid our Cartel Coins. We would have all gladly paid extra. You would have made your money. I have no idea what you were thinking on this one.

SOLUTION: Scrap your current scavenger hunt system and add a section to the kiosk (or another kiosk) to generate dyes. I will gladly pay my 30 or 40 cartel coins for a single color or 80 cartel coins for a dual color. Simple problem, simple solution. You still make your money.

    COLLECTIONS

I was astonished when I first read this. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Except they forgot to tell you that you have to collect every single piece of armor in a set to unlock. Some of the unlocks are a bit pricey. The interface is HORRENDOUS.

SOLUTION: Add a "Filter" dropdown. Add an "Expand All" button. Add a "Collapse All" button. And for the love of all that is HOLY... add Revan's mask by itself along with some of the other more desirable pieces. Also, would it have killed you to run an update script on the database so that people already had their collections unlocked when they logged in? Come on guys.

    DESIGNER/KIOSK

I think the prices for this are a bit too high. I think that class changes are a bit too high. That's really it. Overall I think you did a great job with this. I really don't mind paying extra for stuff like this. I don't mind paying Cartel Coins, even as a subscriber. I just think the prices should be tuned down a bit. I think more people would use it if you did.

SOLUTION: Consider giving subscriber's a bigger discount here. This is something that most of us felt should be offered as part of our subscription fee. Similar to resetting skill points. It should be included in the subscription.

This patch is the perfect example of what happens when:

A.) You don't listen to your customers

B.) You don't test your code. Many of the known bugs and regressions could have been caught on PTS.

C.) Your greed makes you lose site of the big picture. People are willing to pay extra but this is crazy.

I support this but unfortunately Bioware are a bunch of greedy ****s, but guess what Bioware? YOU WON'T GET A SINGLE DIME FROM ME IN TEH CURRENT IMPLEMENTATION OF DYES. I absolutely refuse to waste my CC on some *********** gamble dye back. I would have happily paid 500+ CC just for a black dye but no, you made it a RGN gamble. **** you greedy ****s.

  5. Dyes are one time use only, seriously? I just bought a dye pack and I got Black/Black in it, hell yeah!.... but hold on, what's the point in using it when it's money down the drain as soon as I change my outfit? Better off selling it on GTN, if that's poss.

I think this is the first, and last, dye pack I'm buying from the CM. Thanks but no thanks.

If you introduce a persistent colour pallette, similar to GW2 then I'd be back in a blink.

You're lucky you even got black/black. I bought like 6 and got a bunch of crap.

  6. With those new specs your gonna LOVE the performance increase I had a similar setup with your old PC but the difference was a quad core and I upgraded to a i5 3570k 8gb ram 1600mhz ram and WOW what a difference even in OP's hardly any lag except for on the Server end. LOL.

That's awesome to hear. Thanks man will be building it in the morning once I get the case delivered.

  7. You can see the specs in my sig. The video card you had is fine, though this new card will probably strain less on planets with a lot of grass (assuming you are running with everything cranked to the max).

Biggest difference is going to be the CPU. SWTOR definitely takes advantage of at least 4 cores, so it should be a noticeable improvement. Load times will also improved with the SSD. That's really a great system for SWTOR.

Edit: By the way, I wish you well with your OCing efforts. My 3570k won't go beyond 4.2, no matter the voltage.

Nice man, we have very similar builds then. Yeah we'll see about the OCing, I bought a nice aftermarket cooler too so I'll give it a shot but either way I think the CPU is going to be pretty sweet!

I think my only regret will be that I didn't do this sooner.

  8. Faster RAM is over-valued. DDR3-1600 is about 1% faster than DDR3-1333, and DDR3-1333 is about 5% faster than DDR2-800. So... your memory speed is maybe 6% faster. Everything else being equal, it would get you an improvement of something like 4fps. Live the dream.

That said, you will have a better experience, largely due to the better CPU and GPU. The memory speed isn't going to be noticeable at all. The fact that your CPU has an internal memory controller on a dedicated bus will be. The video card isn't a monster, but its more than enough for the game. I use something similar. On a single monitor, its pretty easy to get 60fps and still not have the card close to overheating.

Now, just don't ruin it by getting some cheap, crappy PSU. Or if you do, don't overclock. It's a bad, bad, idea to try to overclock a CPU if your PSU doesn't have pretty good ripple suppression.

I bought an 850watt corsair powersupply that had a bunch of 5 star reviews on newegg. I've always used corsair powersupplies and never had an issue. (I've built so many bomb computers for friends over the years)

  9. Hey guys,

As many hours as I have put into SWTOR, I should have upgraded my computer long ago, that being said, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the parts for a new build. I am curious to what kind of performance gains you think I will get compared to my current setup:

    Current:

    E8400 Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz

    8gb DDR2 800mhz

    300gb Velociraptor 10,000 RPM

GTX 560Ti (my old gtx 280 died like 18 months ago)

    Asus 680i or something mobo

    New system:

i5 3570k 3.8ghz (4.2 ghz turboboost), probably going to overclock to around 4.5ghz

    16gb DDR3 1600mhz

    128gb Samsung 840 SSD

    Asus Sabertooth Z77 mobo

    Asus GTX 660Ti

In my current system, I get like 20-40 fps when questing on planets but in WZ I only would get like 10 fps and this is on the lowest settings.

I hope I can run the game on the highest settings and get a good framerate now, even in wzs. Do you think that will be possible? I know other games like Skyrim are just going to look and function great on the new computer but I am unsure about SWTOR due to its ****** engine/coding.

  10. tbh they should just bring back the dailies and weeklys to kill players in ilum pvp area.

To be honest, they should revert everything to the July - August 2011 build. That was the such a better build than any of the other builds of SWTOR I have played. It performed the best. I beg you developers switch back to this old build. Anyone that played the beta during that time KNOWS HOW SMOOTH THE GAME WAS. It's a shame that we are stuck with this lag fest

  11. More videos to come in the near future (final's week is almost over :D).

    ~5/8/13

Long overdue but, I now have some recording privileges.

The videos need to be watched in 1080p.

They do not have special effects. No special music. They are full length matches with music I was listening to in the background.

They are just some videos I recorded over the span of playing 3-4 hours last night. Just some regular matches on POT5. In the future I will put captions and notes in the video as it goes along; pointing out things that are important and things that I am thinking about and noticing as the game progresses. Without notes you likely will not have a clue what I'm doing at times, so expect notes in these videos in the future. Also expect voice recording in the future as well.

So not many details right now, just check out the 3-4 videos. You might learn something.

    - I would suggest watching "Civil War - How You Should Play the Game" first. (laggy for the first 15 seconds but it clears up.)

Gear is full 3/4 partisan with no augs, not min/maxed at all, no stim. Deception spec - 3/40/3

    ~Poly

10/10 would not invite to a premade.

  12. Lag is killing the game ...

^^ This. FIX THE *********** LAG. They went with the wrong build from the beta. If they went with the July - September build we would all be playing with 10-20 more FPS in WZs.

  13. Hi, first off I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this question.

With the upcoming 2.1 update, I am pretty excited about the new armor dye feature and customizing my look with different colors.

Will the armor dyes work on armors purchased through the cartel market, like the Eradicators Suit or Pathfinders Armor suit for instance?

    Thanks!

  14. The lag isn't cause of f2p players.

The lag is because of poorly written, unoptimized and untested code. They also went with the worst RC build from the beta. If they had stuck with the July - September 2011 build, we would all be playing a much more stable and responsive game.

But what do I know, I only beta tested the game for 6 months, told them all of this over and over again, got told to be grateful to even be in the beta by Stephen Reid, then quit 1 month after launch when the game flopped.

  15. Quit the game, problem solved.

I haven't played since Friday and have absolutely 0 urges to log in.

Really regretting spending that $15 last Thursday for another month that won't be used.

  16. Hey this thread looks fun!

    <Aimless unspecific QQ>

<Vague timeline to fix previous aimless unspecific QQ before you "quit">

<Obviously don't quit, because if did I'd lose access to the forums>

How am I doing so far?

Actually I still have access for the remainder of the current subscription, which will end in like 26 days.

  17. people are so freaking spoiled. The game launched a month ago, and they expect everything to be perfect.

Have you ever even player a computer game before?

Eh, I've been playing since August in the beta and every single patch the game has gotten worse in my opinion and they continue to remove more and more features.

  18. Yeah I'm done. I've been playing since August and I just cancelled my subscription today. Originally I signed up for 6 months, then a week before 1.1 I switched to 3 months. On 1.1, I switched to 1 month. Today, I cancel.

I wanted to love this game. I wanted to play it for years. I wanted to give Bioware thousands of my dollars over time. But I can't. This game sucks. It's too linear. It's too ez-mode carebear. Come on, I was 50 in a week and I had full epics a week later. Granted, I was playing 12-16 hours a day at that time, but still, it shouldn't take 2 weeks to get a fully geared out max level character. After that, I did the BM grind for a bit, then tried to fill the void with alts, which was Bioware's hope.

just can't get myself to level another character (after doing it so many times in Beta and again here at launch) or even do the warzones much anymore (so sick of Huttball). Maybe if I could queue for only ACW/Voidstar, that would help, but those queues would also be really long, and that only temporary fixes the problem until I'm bored of those too. Too many factors of 4 pugs in the WZs, so if you fight another premade, its a war of the PUGs, and if you fight PUGs, it's just faceroll ezs. I was hoping there would be some world PvP in this game, but of course there isn't.

These MMO developers since WoW just don't *********** get it. They think PvE content and story and voice over is the key to success. No it's not. You know what gives the most replayability (ie: subscription retention)....player generated content.

No game has held my subscription longer than SWG, which held my subscription for 3 years. Since then, WoW held it the longest for 6 months, and every other MMO, a month or 2.

How was SWG able to maintain my subscription for 3 years and how did they lose it? Well obviously they lost it with the NGE crap they pulled, but enough of that. People say "SWG sucks LOL l2p" or w/e. You guys don't have a clue. Yes, SWG had a lot of things wrong with it, a ton of bugs, I won't deny that. But you know what, it was YEARS AHEAD OF IT'S TIME. Those original developers were not afraid. They put incredible features into the hands of the players to create PLAYER GENERATED CONTENT. This means, player generated items, player generated houses, player generated towns, player generated BASES, player generated PvP. I remember every day logging on, and going to an enemy guild's town and trying to take their base down during it's hour of vulnerbaility and than that whole guild there trying to defend it. Epic *********** PvP. The best PvP I ever experienced. Wait, I didn't get epics handed to me for participating this PvP? I just did it for the "fun" of it? No way.

See, these MMO developers don't get it. These James Ohlen, Georg Zoeller, Gabe Amatangelo morons don't get it. They just don't get it. They focus so much on this carebear story voice over. How many times are people going to watch a voice over? Once, and even then I started skipping them cause of the piss poor voice over to lip matching, if I wanted to watch a ****** Star Wars cartoon I'd watch that children's one on TV, at least their lips are matched to the voices properly.

I'll be writing a more extensive I quit post soon, but that should give you an idea of how I feel.

My disappointment in SWTOR is immense, but I blame myself for having expectations when I clearly shouldn't have.

  19. why are you posting about your pointless guild that noone cares about in the pvp forums? ilum whining or ****

Pointless guild? I think you would take those words back if you played on Anchorhead server.
