  1. Is it just me or does 99% of this thread qq about not having the right tools from bioware and at the same time ignoring the same tools that would fix their problem.

     

    Oh need a lowbie instance, while you spam trade head to /who and hand pick your group.....

     

    Oh need a tank for a heroic at 50? /who can show you every level 50 online who has a tanking capability.

     

    You sound all sound like a guy in a bar surrounded by drunk hot women and instead of just talking to them and scoring, you go home alone angry at the bar for not teleporting the drunk hot women naked into your pants.... now for everyone who just had their mind blown

     

    Swtor is the bar

    And talking to them is /who... right click... whisper.... want to groupz?

  2. I love how 95% of the posts here make it out to be OP's fault that the game design is flawed.

     

    Bioware failed to include a proper LFG tool/finder/system, so automatically, it's the player's fault.

     

    Failsauce community at its finest.

     

    When said player cant find groups others have no trouble finding then yes it is the players fault. BW created an amazing lfg system /who. You control-v your message and whisper all 50 of the specific class or role you need. I always get a yes in the first 5 messages but i could send out 50 in under a minute. When ppl complain about sitting and spamming for 15 minutes instead of taking 10 seconds and just being proactive and doing work the yes it certainly is their fault and not the games they arent running hard modes

     

    Ps... im a healing spec healer and i dont need or want dual spec. Embrace your role dont hide behind a crutch

I have played Arsenal sinces I was level10 and Yes its pretty funny though and do awesome damage with the trace missile but for a week ago I wanted to go Pyro-tech and well I did it and now in PVP I do tons of damage with my bomb and the Rail Shot. Yes I enjoy pyro-tech more then Arsenal

     

    Remember Pyro-tech Isn't good for questing, I see Pyro-tech like a PVP talent tree.

     

    What? If you look at pyrotech and arsenal talents they both have about the same number of pvp centered talents.

     

    Also i leveled 10-50 pyrotech and its amazing. Once you get high enough to get the talents to reset rail shot and make it free, your golden. Btw pyrotechs slow is amazing for soloing hard elites/champions while leveling. Permaslow + dots =lul ez mode

  4. It is pretty obvious that they wanted to cash in big bucks during the holiday season no matter what state the game was in. Some of my friends have sent tickets requesting for refunds but the clever customer service tries to act stupid and give unrelated answers. Seriously Bioware you have failed badly in making MMOs. Someone in your company should take responsibility and get fired.

     

    You could try to be a little less obvious when you troll. No mmo is ever finished thats why we pay a sub fee. Swtor is great. Rough around the edges but definitely a great game. (All mmos are rough around the edges at launch)

  5. There's no talk of making it instant, just giving it a cooldown. And... well, yeah, everybody should do decently with a pocket healer if they're fighting other people who don't have one. Fact is, though, we're very much outclassed by melee at 50 once they get their gear. At best we can stun them with Electrodart and try to run to teammates for help, because if you try to kite a melee in this game they'll end up catching you and murdering you in short order. Our only decent snare being a longish channel doesn't lend itself well to 1v1 situations and we're the most easily interrupted class in the entire game, in addition to being one of the least mobile. Sniper is worse off in that department, but they get a pretty beefy damage reduction while in cover to make up for it... as well as ROOTS. If you ask me, Jet Boost ought to be a root instead of a snare.

     

    Here's how 1v1 PvP will play out for a Mercenary once he starts fighting geared melee at 50:

     

    Merc: *attack Marauder*

    Marauder: *charge*

    Merc: *stun, try to run away*

    Marauder: *trinket*

    Merc: *knockback, try to run away*

    Marauder: *vanish*

    Merc: *scan while running away*

    Marauder: *force choke*

    Merc: *trinket*

    Marauder: *Force Charge is now off cooldown again, Jet Boost still has 5 seconds.. charge*

    Marauder: *pop damage immunity cooldown*

    Merc: *gets murdered*

     

    Merc: *sees Juggernaut, realizes it's hopeless and runs the other way*

    Juggernaut: lolnope *charge*

    Juggernaut: *force choke*

    Merc: *trinket, knockback, Unload*

    Juggernaut: *waddles through, losing 1% of his HP*

    Merc: *Tracer Missile, Tracer Missile, Heatseeker Missiles*

    Juggernaut: *95% HP*

    Merc: *tries to run again*

    Juggernaut: lolnope *charge*

    Merc: *murdered since Juggernauts only do slightly less damage than Marauders for some reason*

     

    Assassin: *comes out of stealth, backstab stun*

    Merc: *trinket, knockback, stun*

    Assassin: *trinket, Force Pull*

    Merc: NONONO-*Rocket Punch*

    Assassin: *gets knocked back two feet, continues stabbing merc in the face*

    Merc: *gets murdered*

     

    Operative: *stealth opener*

    Merc: *25% HP, laying on his back* OH FOR FU-

    Operative: *stun*

    Merc: *gets murdered*

     

    Boy with that explanation you seem like a god among men in pvp. My only question is are you intentionally making us sound worse than we are. Or are you just forgetting about concussion missle. It stops the getting murdered part in every single scenario.

  6. Well, considering that on my sorceror and sniper alts I can do most of this but better, with shields and cover that outweigh the armor advantage, and comparable damage to boot...

     

    heavier armor doesn't take away the fact that any good melee will take down a merc, the merc can either keep fighting and die to interrupts and cc-chains or run away and die trying.

     

    while most other range will die to melee in melee range (duh, they're melee) they can at least run for the hills if there are no ledges nearby to punt people off.

     

    I don't really see your point. If ranged should lose vs melee in melee range then where is the issue. Mercs get rocked in melee range by melee. Running away is the best option just concussion missle and ****. If you cant get some range on a melee in 8 seconds then your doing something wrong. Then after that we still have a plethora of knockbacks/slows.

    The best tree by leaps and bounds for soloing is pyrotech. Bodyguard works for lower levels but by 30 your killing things much slower when compared to dps trees and your companions (even tanking) become increasingly hard to keep alive. The reason pyrotech over arsenal is the mobility. They do very comparable damage but pyrotech with the slow in the second tier of the tree makes it possible to solo any melee mob at level. I have soloed champion mobs with very little trouble and some elites i only finished off via kiting.

  9. I would first like to thank u for taking the time to write this post. I would like to say that please do not mention wow in these forums. Also right now the game has been out for what 2 3 weeks give it time People recommendations are good but to much can be very bad. Let Bioware work this out give them time to put in here first major patch then let's get to asking for changes.

     

    Bioware needs good contructive feedback at all times. Not just after their first patch. Also as wow is the best mmo on the market it's good game to compare with swtor so it can improve.

     

    As to the OP, pyrotech has a great slow talented in the second tier of the tree. As well as venting heat when stunned ect in that tree.

    I haven't paid notice to your poor map design (Civil War is godawful) the stream lined to oblivion quest lines, never ending grind, broken voice parts, unresponsive controls, lack of character customization, the fact that EVERYONE looks the same, speeders that act more like slowers, skewed faction balance, lack of open world pvp, 'epic all the players' mentality in end game, re-hashed building models and texures over and over and over again, aperantly there's some sort of galactic rule on elevators being able to carry a platoon of troopers along with tanks and whatnot.

     

    Because I honestly like Huttball and Voidstar very very much, and I love my class.

     

    But that requires me to actually being able to PLAY THE ***** GAME!

     

    I've been online for a few hours today and only been able to play 3-4 wz as the game keeps throwing me to the char select screen (even though I wait for a few mins between queueing, even 10-15 min).

     

    Trolls be trollin. If you want to be take seriously talk about the problem. The rant prior too your actual post just makes you look immature and upset so much its unhealthy. First few weeks of launch. This is very par for the course

  11. Server wide chat used for finding groups :/ have you ever played an mmo before? They always devolve very quickly into global general/troll chat.

     

    General chat in each zone works great while you quest because you are with players your level. You can find groups then go to the fleet to run them. Or /who people you need. You can look players up by zone level class its an amazing tool.

  12. I have to start with I'm not entirely sure funner is a word...

     

     

    What i really think the game needs is more companions that evolve with your character. Much like how the sith warrior has a companion that has two distinct personalities depending on their light or dark side affiliation (trying to avoid spoilers). Its just hard to understand why some characters stay with you even when you are the exact opposite of them and make decisons that make them unhappy all the time.

     

    For example having vette take on that slave role that sith warriors have the option of forcing her into. It makes more sense for her to eventually give in or come around than constantly being tortured. Or that she would run away first chance she gets instead of staying by your side through torture she hates... i just feel like iose some emersion with companions that dont develop towards your decisons.

  13. Damage meters become more important the longer games are out. Wow has some crappy dms for a long time that werent accurate for crap and ppl still functioned in raids. At this point a dm isn't needed at all but as the novelty of the game wears off damage meters will be a must
  14. Does anyone know why wow's raids seem pretty polished when they are released. Because they havent made a new raid in years. They go and rehash old mechanics.. old bosses... old skins... old skills....

     

    Side note Bioware was never secretive about what is in the game. They said up front end game wasnt their focus.. they said up front that their would be no combat log or damage meter. If you rushed to end game its your own fault since BW was very clear about what the main focus of the game would be.... story. Which is great. Anyone who thinks BW ruined a good game must not realize that BW designed the game. It is what they advertised and made it. Its not whatever you think it should be.

  15. I'm a 42 pyro merc and also have never had trouble with a boss resisting my dots. I do love the spec but i have two small annoyances. The first being that when you cast power shot you don't know if you proc a free rail shot till your half way through your next attack which can lead to wasting procs. My other small annoyance is that our heat is completely dependent on rng. If i get a bad streak of no rail shot procs then i end up having a very boring rotation with lots of rapid shot fillers.
  16. I understand that it is hard to find a time that is acceptable for everyone. But why 0400 to 1000 US time? Why not make it something like 0000-0600 US tme? That way the impact for everyone would be less.

    That would be less? Do you understand there are more people on late night during the week than in early morning in the US. i've been on at 0100 US and still had 100ppl per zone and i've been on at 0800 US and found 4 people on per zone. If you expect things to be the same in the game a year from now as it is now you've never played a launch. No reason to be as melodramatic as this thread is right now by expecting the same server downtimes forever.

  17. To address a few points made...

     

    Companions. These are fun and unique to a degree. Pets have existed in other mmos, but I'm not advocating that just because it's been in an mmo before it shouldn't be used again. This is just fluff around the outside of the core.

     

    Voice acting. Same thing...it makes quest very interesting, more fun than questing in other mmos. It's still a very small part of the game though and doesn't affect gameplay at all. Fluff around the core.

     

    End game is still X tanks, Y healers, Z dps, tanks build threat, healers heal tank, dps pew pew. Tank loses threat, tank taunts. Tank dies, group dies.

     

    Gotta do your dailies!

     

    Warzones award you commendations not based on performance but based on how often you do warzones. Grindfest for PvP gear.

     

    It's just all so typical. Companions and voice acting are nice, but it doesn't affect any of the things I listed.

     

    The best way I can some it up...They've modified very little of what the core of a traditional mmorpg is. They've ADDED to it with companions and voice acting. The core gameplay is very typical still.

     

    You can downplay companions but that doesn't change the fact that they far superior to any pet system in any other game. They also serve more purpose because of the story aspect. It hads an entirely new player base to the game which is a huge development. Btw you do get awarded for your performance in warfronts.
