  1. This staggering launch gives a stable base before the tsunami of regular orders. They have an infrastructure in place, they've (presumably) already dealt with loading problems and there won't be an issue of everyone picking the first server available, as there will be high, medium and low population servers available.

There probably will be issues when the official launch comes, but the pre-launch mitigated a good percentage of players, rather than just having one (or two) server floods and two times the issues.

Not to argue with your logic, but IMO if that was the case there would not be a need for a 18 hour break between waves. Ill get in a day or two any but just saying :)

  2. I'm sure others have posted this but just use Stephen Reid as an example. Dude was at the office by 7 a.m., probably earlier than that based on his tweets. Got 3 1/2 hours of sleep, and has worked all day and is still going at it. Give these people a break.

Yes but a mmo is a 24/7 service. You should have the staff to support it. Especially for launch/early access. I just wished they would have put a 1 character creation lock or something till they got all the early access in that way everyone could have a fair chance at getting names. But it is what it is.

  3. Seriously...These entitled children, and I use the term loosely because I'm sure some of you whiners are technically adults, are just straight up shameful.

Take a step back and look at the big picture. The 'waves' are to ensure a smooth launch, correct? Sending invites during the daytime, and the daytime only, is the most reliable way to monitor that traffic. If they kept sending invites out all night, there would be a massive influx during the prime times tomorrow. This isn't about them working only 9-5, but about producing the desired results.

I'll harp on it again. Be appreciative of the extra time the developers have granted us. They could have more easily taken time away from the pre-launch. I swear if half of you people were half as smart as you think you are, there'd be much less hurt feelings in this.

And how are they going to put the 20th crowd in waves? Because there will be a big crowd on the 20th. You might think there will not be that many. But on the official day where you have to have cc info and keys registered there will be a pretty big mass of players. There always is.

If they can't bring the numbers up in early access now, just think what there servers are going to do on the 20th. And the rage you see probably will be like a calm storm if the servers die on the 20th. But hopefully it all will go well.

  4. Actually, no.

Actually it was, when they first announced early access it was 5 days. Later it was changed to may get 5 days. How ever they did say from the start that it was first come first serve. But the change to the 5 days was not all that long ago.

  5. Just going to piggy back on his question. Let says you get your character up to lvl 50 and full affection before they put in same gender romance, how would it work then? Would the companion just suddenly be into your character or would they give you a new quests or would simply not work.

    ^^^That is a good question.

  6. Dude really?

They work in 8 or 12hours shifts.....

Really dude!!! So you are telling me that a mmo that is suppose to run 24/7 isn't going to be staffed 24/7? Really there should not be a 18 hour delay between wave 5 and wave 6.

  7. If you expect them to work all day and night then why dont you call your boss up and tell him you want to work a 24 hour shift? The BioWare staff has work many many long hours already... how about you give them some slack and let them rest.

all you whiners are the kind of people what would complain about getting a free car "Its not the color i wanted, wah wah wah."

seriously BioWare didn't have to give you anything at all. you should be thankful that they are letting you play their game before the 20th.

That would be find and dandy if this was a single player game. But this is suppose to be a MMO so they should have staff 24/7 to take all of all of this. Hospitals stay open 24/7 but the thing they have staff that work different shifts. So please knock off the call your boss and tell him you want to work 24 hours.

  8. So I pre-ordered in September. I'm not in yet. I'm also not raging. I understand why they're doing this. Sure, I already paid in full my Pre-Order. Sure I'd love to be playing right now. But I for one would rather get in and play a smooth game. Not sit in a 6 hour que and then have the game crash because some people who think they're more entitled than every other person who's pre-ordered wants to get in at the same time.

That is not the point. The point is stopping after 4 waves and it's not even noon yet. Waves should be coming through most of the day and well into the night. This is not a single player game, this is a mmo. 24 hour service, 7 days a week. There should not have been a planned 4 wave for the first day.

  9. you guys will probably hate this and im not saying it for wow factor. If you were playing WoW through wrath of the lich king and cataclysm then you know when they open the doors and say have at it when there r so many players in one area it crashes even for blizzard. I remember waiting inline at Midnight (will never do it again) driving home 1Hr cause my town doesnt have a mall to find out i couldnt login til early morning because of the high population and the problems keeping the servers up and look how many servers they have right now. So this is actually kinda smart in my book even though i wish i would of had the money to preorder it in july but i did preorder it in sept and didnt realize i needed to enter the code in for first come first serve early access cause i didnt put mine in til november when i found that out lol.

You know that is all good and all. I do not mind the staggered access. How ever only 4 waves today that is the part that is not good. Waves should be rolling out well into the evening/night.

  10. SWTOR The Old Republic

Don't worry, there are still more invites coming today! We will announce when the next wave is sent.

from twitter.now if they could give an idea how long the waves will go for... maybe all day long into the night even..

i do remember they went and said the ultra stress test was over 2 million people.

so they should beable to handle the stress but yeah i kinda agree with the tryingt o get people out of the start areas so the next batc h arent crowded.. i mean it would suck if all it was was a sea of bodies trying to kill a claw slug and you had to waid 30 min to get just 1 when you need 5

This is from twitter. So no it will not be going all day long or into the night even.

    The Old Republic @SWTOR

    Close

The third wave of Early Game Access emails have been sent, one more to go!

  11. No what is sickening is when they said 1 more wave for the day. They should be rolling waves out all day and well into the night. If they did that I would not have complained 1 little bit. But to up and quit after 1 more wave (wave 4) that is pretty sorry.
