  1. I am sick, sick, of Alderaan. IF, (and it's a big if), people play Alderaan properly it is a very enjoyable PvP game; unfortunately, this rarely happens.

Whether your on the winning or losing team, what will happen the majority of the time is this: A few players go capture the left turret and the rest go for middle turret. Who ever wins the middle turret wins the game. Why? Because the few players who are on the losing side and down 2-1 on the turrets do not make an attempt to help out to capture another turret in order to win the game. The opposition know this so they don't even bother capturing the other turret, they just defend their two turrets, running from one to the other. Game over. Very easy.

But why does this happen? Why do stand at a turret for the whole game when they don't see a soul come to capture it? Ahh, well the answer is very simple. Bioware in all their wisdom thought that by handing out defender medals for sitting on a turret, they though only fair people who only cared about the game and not solely about medals would get these defender medals. Wrong.

But why should a player be rewarded for standing on a node (turret) if nobody comes. Furthermore making the game unenjoyable for both parties. Could this be the reason I see a dozen players quit out of a game at any one time on Alderaan? (It happens on other Warzones but I'm just illustrating a point here.)

I could suggest a instant fix for this. Surely, the game can track when players ARE attacking on the node. If you do X amount of damage while defending on the node (turret) then you will get defender points and consequently defender medals. Also, why not award players who are able to recapture a turret? Is this not the object of the game? Sure sometimes this favours a ninja, but essentially they are winning the game for you so they should be amply rewarded.

I know there is a lot of broken things in this game and why should we pay anymore attention over others. Given that some of us don't go on Ilum because of the performance issues, and I'm stuck playing 3 PvP match types over and over again. And the game loses its gloss very quickly when PvP is not PvP but a medal camp fest.

What you are describing is more disorganization than "medal camping"... I always get the groups the defend NOTHING, they are constantly running all over the map, and lose every time.

  2. I PvPed for about 120 hours now in TOR, and I can safely say this is simply not a PvP MMO. Sure you can get some entertainment value from it, but the holes are large enough to drive a truck through.

The biggest issues I see compared to other MMO's with good PvP systems are lack of collision detection between the toons, or, at the very least, collision detection between enemy toons. Lastly, if you need a "resolve" system, or immunity timers, you simply have too many CC/snare/stun abilities for a good PvP experience.

No matter how you change anything else, these two factors will simply always bog down TOR PvP.

  3. If you are not supposed to roll on gear your companion can use, why is it allowed by BioWare? It can be coded for, and BioWare didn't to code against it, so your opinion on what to roll on is no better than any other paying customers... kick me from the group and ignore me, you will be doing me the favor because your type always has their panties in a bunch about something, and I can do without that during my game time.
  4. Infusion is for non-healing specs. SP is an instant replacement to infusion for healing spec.

We need them both to be instant to be on par with the Sorc (vs. Resurgence and Static Shield)... yes, a good player can work there fingers off to be just as good as a Sorc, but why should we have to grind our joints to the bone to do it? Bad mechanics on a class are just that.... which is not a player "skill" mechanic, either.

  5. The one thing the Operative hearers in this thread are not mentioning is how many more buttons you have to press for an Opy to be as effective as a Sorc...

I play both, and I usually start with the Opy and switch to the Sorc when my hands cramp... but I am also 6'5" with big hands so I have trouble with my hands cramping anyway (I wish the Naga-Mouse came in a larger version).

BioWare need to add macro's, and make Kolto Infusion an instant cast and I think they would be equal then.

  6. I would be fine with the healing tree if they made Kolto Infusion an baseline instant cast ability.

concealment: I have played many stealth classes, and they always do just fine as long as they can stealth undetected and kill a damaged player.... that is just what the class/tree is designed for and the good players will continue to make it effective in doing just that....

Lethality needs a TA generator, plain and simple (preferably one that does not require cover because we are a ranged "stick and move" class)... maybe something like a Jugg stance which makes Rifle Shot, 50% of the time, generate TA, but does not allow us to generate TA from the other 2 trees while in this stance, thus we must commit to the ranged tree from combat situation to combat situation to make it effective.

  7. I'm thinking of roling an op to be a pvp healer. i don't realy care if it's the best class for it as long as it is a viable one. all i have really seen is the spec for it. so could someone please give some more info about it?

I play both a Opy and Sorc healer and I would say to avoid the Opy if you play long PvP sessions. You can make them nearly as effective as a Sorc healer, but you have to press about 10 times the amount of key-binds to do it... this makes for some tired fingers after a few hours.

  8. The problem is the majority of 50's stopped queuing because they could not beat-down low level toons any more. Bad PvPers were getting rewarded by a bad PvP matching system. Now that they don't have it, they have crawled back in there holes.
  9. Learn some patience. The pvp will be much better once u give people time to level

I think you are missing all of the threads about people getting Champion-steam-rolled when they turn 50 and can't stomp on level 19's any more.

  10. The kicker is that these developers had all those bad games to gauge off of, yet still made many of the same mistakes, and added a few more for flavor.

I plan on sticking with it for a while, but these developers have an uphill battle... I just hope to witness the biggest turn-around in MMO-PvP history.

  11. Arena's are like many of aspects of the modern MMO, fewer people participate so they are a lower priority for the developers. Paying customers don't like losing all the time, so why would developers work on a system (as you so &*%$ishly pointed out) that the majority of paying customers dislike?
  12. You can't roll an alt?

Sorry, but I had to say it after all the 50's who have been sarcastically saying, "Why don't you just get to 50?"

Getting to 50 takes many hours, getting to 10 takes 1 hour (tops).

  13. Ok I just want some other peoples views and see what they get.

While in the Imperial fleet I get both GPU usage above 25% with 30+ FPS while there is TONS of people.. When I join a warzone my second GPU goes to zero and I get 25-30 with spikes..

    Any thought?

Something changed since the patch in WZ's as I get low frame rates no matter what machine I log in with (all with differing video cards).

Turn-lag left me constantly facing the wrong direction and running into walls.

  14. Only thing I don't like about taking my time is the PvP bolster system. I like to mix in a little PvP and I think that system punishes us for taking our time with the game (makes little sense from a developers stand-point).

In the MMO world, your worst customer is one that plays for 30 (and the speed levelers WILL burn out first, they always do) days and hampers the fun for those those that would play the game long-term... so why create a system that fosters this?
